Issues hooking a WRT350N Wireless Router to a SE587 Siemen Wireless modem

I'm having an issue with my newly both WRT350N wireless router. I had my internet hooked up today, with no problems. Rather than sending a typical modem (which might be the entire cause of the issue), they sent me a SE587 Wireless Gateway Siemen Modem. Basically i get through almost the entire installation cd for the setup of the router, when it tells me theres no internet connection, and asks me to retry while unplugging and re-plugging the modem. To no success has this resolved my issue. But here's the thing. When i hook the modem to my PC, im instanly connected, no problem there. When I hook the cables to the Router, the four solid lights come on. (Power, ETHERNET (1,2,3,4), Internet, and Wireless. So i know that the internet is there, and its getting to the router, but the connection is not making it to the PC, where i find myself with limited connectivity. Now some Telus representative was spewing that i can't have the same IP addresses on the modem and router. Fine. Now I attempted to get the internet connection through DHCP, Static IP, PPoE. And the same problem persists. For my modem the info is as follows: IPv4: 192.168.1.100 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.254 DNS: 192.168.1.254 When i set the settings for my router through static IP, i put the info as follows: IP address: 192.168.1.102 subnet: 255.255.255.0 default gateway: 192.168.1.254 DNS: 192.168.1.254 And i'm still in the same position. What am i doing wrong?

The siemens modems that I've encountered usually have a 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254. You will need to disconnect it from the router and change the router's address to a different range (ie 192.168.2.1).
The box said windows xp or better... So I installed Linux!

  • Settings to get wireless router to work with verizon DSL modem?

I have a friend who lives in NYC who's roommate has verizon DSL service, and they're trying to get their Linksys BEFW11S4 wireless router working with it so my friend can use wireless with her laptop. They're clueless with networking things, and I'm only familiar with setting routers up for Fios and cable service. I know DSL settings are different and I was hoping somebody could tell me the important ones to use on the router for Verizon DSL in NYC. Right now the roommate is just using a little 3"x3" black modem connected to her computer with an ethernet wire, but they don't know what model or anything the modem is. Can anybody tell me what settings I should use when I login to the router and configure it? Thanks

  • Westell ProLine 6100 DSL modem with generic wireless router

I am planning to purchase the Starter Verizon high speed internet plan.  It comes with a free Westell ProLine 6100/6110 DSL modem.  The combined modem and wireless router is $55.  I have a wireless router (Linksys and Cisco).  Can I use the Linksys or Cisco wireless router with the Westell ProLine DSL modem, or will I have compatibility problems?  Thanks.

To use that modem with a router, I point to:

    Otherwise, you will...
#1 NOT be able to go anywhere online because of Double NAT.
#2 Or if you can go some where online then..
..For example: If you want to allow users from the net to connect to your computer, you can't just portforward in your generic wireless router. You must also portforward in the Westell 6100. (Called Double NAT Forwarding)
Points to: portforward.com -> Other Guides -> Port Forwarding Behind Two Routers?

I will leave this up to you on what you want to do. Good luck.

  • Printer can't find my wireless router

My printer was working fine until I printed something from my laptop?  Since then I cannot print anything from any device.  I ran a wireless network test report and a HP Network Configuration page and the error message says "Your HP Printer cannot find your wireless router.  Check that your wireless router is powered on (which it is).  Check that your HP printer network name (SSID) matches your wireless router name name (SSID) exactly.  If they don't match exactly, run the wireless network setup to configure your HP printer.
    Please help.
    Thank you!

    Hey @gppapi,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the network communication issue that you're experiencing when printing from your Mac OS X 10.6 computer to your HP Photosmart C4780 All-in-One Printer. Because your Wireless Network Test Report indicates that the printer cannot find the Wireless Router, I am going to have you run some standard network troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.
    Step 1: Powercycle Network:
First, unplug the power cable to your Router
Once your Router is unplugged, turn off your printer
    Next, shut down your computer
After 30 seconds to 1 minutes, plug your Router back in
    Next, turn on your printer
    Turn on the computer
After a few moments the internet connection will return. Please check on your computer and verify that you can browse to websites before continuing.
    Step 2: Check Connectivity:
On the front panel of your printer select the Top button to go to the Scan Options
Press the Top Button to go to the Wireless Menu
    Select Print Network Configuration
Take note of the IP Address
On your Mac, open the internet browser
In the address bar type in the printers IP Address. Do not include www.
    Search to that website
If a website for you printer opens: This indicates that your printer and computer are 'talking' over the wireless network. Please try to print. If printing now works, than your router was blocking communication. This may have been caused by a router update. Usually powercycling the router resolves this issue. Should the issue return, there may be settings on the router that need to be adjusted.
If a website for your printer fails to open: This indicates that the printer and computers are not 'talking' over the network. To resolve this issue please follow the steps below.
    Step 2: Restore Defaults:
On the front panel of your printer select the Top button to go to the Scan Options
Press the Top Button to go to the Wireless Menu
    Select Restore Network Defaults
Once the restore is complete, please proceed to the next step.
    Step 3: Reconfigure Wireless:
Connect a USB Cable from your printer to your Mac
Please click here to download the latest drivers for your printer
Run the installation and when prompted choose that you want to configure wireless
Select your Network Name SSID and enter the Wireless Password (key) when/if prompted
Once the wireless is configured, please test printing again.
Please let me know if these troubleshooting steps resolve your issue. Good luck!

  • Connecting to a wireless router

I have an older wireless router, the DLink DI-714P+ connected to a DSL modem, and would like my Satellite Pro L300D's wireless LAN to connect through it to the Internet. I do not see any instructions how to use the Atheros 802.11b/g wireless LAN on the laptop.
My router does have settings for wireless LAN and supports the 802.11b wireless network. The D-Link settings for the wireless access point are network ID(SSID), set to 'default', channel, set to '6', and security, set to 'None' with options for 'WEP','802.1','WPA-PSK', and 'WPA". There is also a page of wireless performance settings I can set in the D714P+ setup.
Any help hooking up my laptop to my wireless router so that it can access the Internet through the router would be most welcome. Thanks !

    Hi,
Satellite Pro L300D series is wifi capable . Here are the things that you need to do to connect to a wireless router.
. Check if Wireless Switch is on  ( for this system the on / off switch is located infront of the system aligned to the Audio jack )
. Click Start then go to Connect to
. Look for the name of your Router and Double click it.
Once it says connected. Try opening up Internet Explorer.
That should help you out connect to your router

  • Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I cannot connect to my wireless router

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I cannot connect to my wireless router. I have 2 wireless networks in my home. One is the primary whuch all of my devices connect to. The other is for backup only. I cannot connect to the primary with my iMac but have no trouble with any of the other devices which include iphones and ipads.phones and iPads. I can however connect to the backup without a problem. I have tried upgrading the firmware of the router as well as changing the security from WEP to WPA-2, no luck. Can anyone help?

    Try this, it's for information.
In Finder, open the Go menu, press and hold the option  key, 'Library' will appear on the menu, click and scroll to Application Support, open the folder and scroll to 'AddressBook-v22.abcddb'. Click on the file and press Command-I. Towards the bottom you'll see Permissions, tell me what they are please.

  • Wireless Router and the Mac

Quick question. I just installed a Linksys Wireless Router and voila, I am wirelessly connected. Right out of the box.
Question: Are our Macs automatically protected from "outsiders" or do we have to do something manually?
Re: One Intel iMac and one Mac Book Pro. The Router is connected to my one and only PC in the house. This PC is "wired" as it has no wireless card. I want to keep it this way. Just want my Macs wireless.
    Thanks for your help.
Intel iMac 17" and Mac Book Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Thank you all for all your help. I was able to get to the Setp Up page of my Router and rename the Router and create a new password. I also disabled Broadcast. And yes, I enabled Firewall.
I noticed now that the signal in my bedroom for my MacBook Pro is rather weak - sometimes I can't connect at all. Could this be because of my disabling Broadcast? Is there something I can use to boost my signal in the bedroom such as an antenna?
The signal was fine on Sunday when I first plugged in the Router out of the box without any modifications.
Again, thank you all for your help.

  • Trying to connect my wired PC to the wireless airport express via the wireless router.

Trying to connect my wired PC to the wireless airport express via the wireless router.  TP-link wired/wireless router.  Ultimate goal is to send music from iTunes on PC to wireless router, then to airport, then to reciever.  The amber light is blinking.  Thanks in advance for the help!

If I'm understanding right your need and your computer has wired access to your network/router, all you have to do is give your AX wireless or wired access to your network too.
Wired should be easier.  Just use a network cable to connect to the router.  Power up the AX and look for it on AirPort Utility, do so without changing any of your computer settings.  If it's visible, then on iTunes your AX should be visible on the AirPlay icon at the bottom-right corner.
If you want to connect your AX to your router wirelessly I would suggest to reset your AX settings by pressing and holding for a few secs the reset button next to all the ports.  Once it is reset, using your computer try to look for the wireless network it'll be creating, it should be something like Apple Network 4341eb.  Join that network and, using the AirPort Utility, configure your AX as a network client.  Go to Wireless > Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network.
Select your router wireless network from the drop-down menu, select the appropriate security and type in your password.  Click update.
It'll restart and automatically join your network.  Have your computer join back your router network and, again, in iTunes bottom right you should be able to see the AX speakers.
Let me know if this worked.

  • WPG54G - Used as a wireless router?

Forgive me for this but I know next to nothing about this kind of stuff. I discovered a family member's old WPG54G wireless presentation player. I'm not sure if this is strictly a presentation player (whatever that is) or if this can be used as an actual wireless router. I plugged the ethernet cable into it and tried accessing the 192.168.1.200 page but to no avail. I'd like to get this running as a standard wireless router for my home if possible.

I think you can not use this device as a wireless router.
The versatile Linksys Wireless-G Presentation Player is the ultimate presentation tool. In the conference room, it
can act as a 54Mbps access point to your network, and also connects via a standard VGA connector to your
projector or monitor. Any wireless-equipped computer within range (and with permission) can take control of the
Player and project live screen images of any application running on the PC.

  • Where do I find my WPA key for my wireless router??? (WRT150N)

Ok so I'm trying to setup Xbox live for my Xbox 360. I have the WRT150N wireless router and just got the wireless adapter that plugs into the 360. It said the adapter couldnt pick up the signal then i realized i needed to enter the WPA key from my wireless router. Im only 15 and my dad is on business and im not really tech- savvy. I checked the information on the router and it only gives me the serial number and MAC address. Anyone how I can find out what the WPA key is for the router??

Type 192.168.1.1 on your browsers address bar. Login. And you'll find your security password under Wireless->Wireless Security.

  • Airport express using WPS to Linksys Wireless router?

I have a Linksys Wireless router set up to server wireless signal to macs and PCs in my office. It works great, but one of the far offices can't get enough signal.
I bought an airport express assuming I could use it as a repeater in this office.
I'm having some trouble connecting it (config goes great, then when i try and enable WPS mode - entering the current Linksys ID it just flashes orange after restart).
Any tips? Should this be possible?

  • Connecting to internet via D-Link airplus wireless router?

    Hi there,
I bought a macbook pro 17inch yesterday and love it! However, I've tried to set up wireless connection to the home network, which is a D-link wireless router "Airplus G+ 2.4GHZ wireless VPN router"
How do I go about this with the inbuilt wireless options of the macbook?
I am waiting on an airport express which came free with apple care, but that could be a couple of weeks away and I'd like internet connection via my mac before that
Any ideas on what I should be doing, information I might need to get for the router etc?
BTW - It's secured with a password which I have.

    OK, open System Preferences/Network
Location: [New Location] and give it a name
Show: [Network Port Configurations] drag Airport to the top and uncheck all others
    Show: [Airport]
Airport tab - set [By default join] to Preferred networks
In the pop-down select the D-Link network (and remove any others if there)
TCP/IP tab - set [Configure ipV4] to Using DHCP
    Click [Apply Now] bottom right
You should get an IP number allocated by the router ...

  • HOTSPOT AND the wireless router

    HI Everyone,
I am using iphone 4 as a personal hotspot and accessing  internet in my laptop. however at this moment I would like to have a vonage device should be connected (It will work only with a wired connection via router or a modem. Is there anyway to access the personal hotspot connection to a wireless router and connect the router with a cable to the vonage  device?
Thanks for the replies in advance
    Benn

You don't want a wireless router. You want a wireless bridge. See WES610N or WET610N. Can't tell though, whether they work with the personal hotspot.
