Issues Importing MP3s

Hello all!
Has anyone had any issues importing files into iTunes (11.1.11), using one of the following methods:
1) File > Add to Library
2) Drag and drop from the Finder window
I've had nothing but issues importing files into iTunes - everything just beach balls!
The MP3s I want to import are fine to play - no corruption etc - but I think the issue lies with iTunes.
Anyone remember the File > Import File / Import Folder option? I feel that the coding hasn't worked properly since the update (nor did it work on the previous version of iTunes) and it'll crash if you try to just import a folder or folders. It's OK if I go into the folder and highlight all the tracks and import them, but defeats the purpose if you want to import several folders.
I'm just frustrated that Apple have managed to break something that seemed to be working well into something that is a little sloppy.

Hi,
I have not had any problems adding files using file > add to library. The only time I've had a problem when the file kind was not shown as Mp3 Audio. This was because the file name did not show .mp3 and kind was "document" rather than mp3 audio. Could this be the cause?

  • Can't import mp3

can't import mp3 made in Sounbooth cs5 to Flash cs5 ? Help is needed ?

Flash gives an error that "Couldn't import xyz.mp3" that's it.
I posted this message in 2010 when I was having the same problem with CS4. But then it was working fine with CS5, but now the problem is back ?
    From 2010...
I am using Flash and Soundbooth CS4, I have been working in XP and in Vista. Just moved to Win7 and now the same MP3s we have been using for years will not import to Flash. We have always used Sample Rate 48000 mono and Bitrate 48 Kbps mono. I downloading the trial version of Audition CS5 and with the same Sample Rate and Bitrate the files import fine. Another gentlemen that works with me verified the same issue on his Win7 machine. I bought the eLearning Suite that comes with Soundbooth, so I would not like to have to purchase Audition.
Any other ideas on this are very much appreciated.

  • How to import mp3 into Logic 7.2.1 ?

How to import mp3 files into Logic 7.2.1, without converting the file?
I have tried to make an mp3 with logic 7.2.1 and then improt it into logic again, and it still converts the **** file.
    Help needed here.
I thought importing mp3 files in Logic 7.2.1. without converting, was one of the new features???????

Logic imports mp4's (ACC and Apple Lossless Files) directly, without the need to convert to AIFF.
But some Mp3's will still need to be converted. It's all in the manuals... page 29 of the "what's New In Logic 7" PDF, as well as here:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/LogicPro_7.2_lbnz.pdf
The file size remains the same though, so I'm not sure I understand what the issue is...

  • Can't Import MP3 or AAC Files

    Hello All,
I can't seem to import MP3 files (or aac) into Garageband. I've tried dragging a variety of formats and sample rates (including 44.100). If I drag an MP3 from Itunes to a space in the time line, it says "importing file" but then no waveform or file shows up anwhere! Maybe I'm doing something stupid, but I've looked at every tutorial video and how to video I can find and I can't figure out if I'm just missing something.
Macbook Pro 2008, Garage Band 4.1.2 all updated.
    Thanks,
    Ian

    UPDATE
After much experimentation, I realized that files which I imported to my new MacBook Pro from an original source (downloading or ripping from DC) can be imported to Garageband on that computer. I discovered this by organizing my library in Itunes by the "Date Added" field. All other songs that won't import to GarageBand were transferred recently from my old Dell.
I also played around trying to isolate the issue.
    1. I took a file that had been imported from my dell to the Itunes on my new MacBook pro. It wouldn't import to GarageBand.
    2. I re encoded it as a WAV file using Itunes. Then it would import ok.
    3. I re encoded the WAV file back to MP3 using Itunes. It would then import again ok.
So it seems it's how the file is encoded that is the issue. The original MP3 file that wouldn't import to GarageBand was a high quality 320KBS, 44.100 kHZ copy. Only after using the Itunes encoder would it work. But the odd thing is new files I download to the MacBook computer work fine too.
Go figure. If anyone has a suggestion for how I can make GarageBand recognize the thousands of songs I imported from my old computer I'd appreciate it. Ideally it's an easy fix!!
I also tried to reimport an older file from my Dell in case it was file path issue (which doesn't really ever happen with macs, right?). I deleted the old file off my hard drive. Then I had Itunes reimport the file from my desktop. That would work. It took totally converting the file using Itunes to make it work with GarageBand.
Hope this helps some confused soul out in cyberspace.
    Cheers,
    Ian

  • Import .mp3 to garageband 10.0

I cannot import mp3 from iTunes. please help!!!! It is lowercase .mp3 and it says its not an audio track. I do this all the time I have no idea why it no longer works with the update.

I'm having the same issue. The .mp3 tag is correct (verified it in iTunes/Info). But I don't even have Garageband giving me an error message saying that anything's wrong. It just won't allow me to drag it either from my desktop nor from the media section of Garageband. It refuses it and bounces it back to the original location. I tested the file in Garageband to see if the Media/iTunes file would play and it did, so nothing is wrong with the file (it also works in iTunes). Please advise. Thank you! I've also done the new OS X software updates today and that did not fix the issue and my Garageband is updated as well.

  • BUG: Unable to Import MP3 Files in Flash CS6

I am unable to import mp3 files of any kind in Flash CS6. Tried import to stage, import to library, Drag and Drop... no dice. Receiving a generic error message. Tried closing out and restarting, etc. - still not working.
    Anyone else having this issue?

    Yep that worked!
The "update" in the library would not update the content but the drag and drop worked fine.
Note: The path in the update dialog shows a relative path and after the drag and drop it shows an absolute path to the file
I also had an issue with the audio being changed from stream to event.

  • FAQ: Unable to import MP3 files in Flash Professional CS6

If you are unable to import mp3 files in Flash Professional CS6, ensure that you update QuickTime(7.7.1) and iTune(10.5.3.3) versions. This is necessary to import .mp3 files of bitrates higher than 192kbps.

    Yep that worked!
The "update" in the library would not update the content but the drag and drop worked fine.
Note: The path in the update dialog shows a relative path and after the drag and drop it shows an absolute path to the file
I also had an issue with the audio being changed from stream to event.

  • Couldnt Import .MP3 into Flash CC

I am exporting a .MP3 from Adobe Audition CC
Then Importing it into Flash CC
I receive the error message Couldnt Import .MP3
This procedure has worked in the past but now does not work. If you know what may be the issue please let me know
    Thanks

There was an older issue with Flash CS6 where any MP3 with a bitrate over 192kbit could not be imported unless both QuickTime and iTunes were installed to the latest version (on Windows). Do you also have iTunes installed and updated?
I don't think anyone got to the bottom of why iTunes was needed but many people couldn't import MP3 with the same error until they did. You might want to try that.
The only MP3 workaround was to import directly to library instead of stage and play it in a timeline layer, but some could only hear it during published playback (no preview).
Of course an alternate workaround is to simply use a different format. There's still something going on with MP3, which is a bit surprising considering how common it is. I would recommend trying WAV or AIFF as a workaround for now if iTunes/QuickTime updating doesn't fix it.

  • Problems importing .mp3 files to itunes

I'm having problems importing .mp3 files to itunes, it's importing the song name tage with "artist - song title" when it should just be the song title?

    Chad,
Glad to hear that Steve's script was helpful.
As to the bug, I don't know.  The problem you report is not common.  Usually when iTunes displays artist-title in the Name field, it is either an untagged MP3 or a WAV file, but in those cases it does not correct itself when you give it a kick.  Between that and the non-refresh problem you report, I think there is something else going on besides a tagging issue.  At your convenience, you may want to reinstall the newest iTunes, and see if it helps.
    Anyway, enjoy the music!

  • I get an error when trying to import MP3 files in iTunes?

When I try to import mp3 files into iTunes (version 6), I get an error message of:
The file "song file name" can not be imported An unknown error has occurred (-50).
I have already imported these files into iTnes on my old computer, but run into this problem with my new laptop. I downloaded a new version of iTunes just like I installed all my new programs on this new laptop.
For some reason, I run into this problem when trying to import any mp3 files (as mentioned, even mp3 files that I successfully imported into iTunes previously).
(I've tried a complete removal and re-install, but that didn't help)
Anyone know why I'm getting this error message and how to correct things?
Thanks in advance for any help !!!

those are the files that are sent as an error report... i dont know what the problem is! this is starting to get me mad! I need my music! some1 help plz.
I cant load that one folder, what could be the problem? I've loaded another folder similar to this one but it was alot smaller and everything worked out fine, but for my big one its messing up.

Save the file from Gmail onto your computer and add it to iTunes.  How you save from Gmail is a Gmail question (their own support pages), not an iTunes question.

    do I sort this
    out?

create a new empty fla (say soundAssets.fla) and add all the sounds to its library. in (advanced) properties, tick "export for actionscript" and "export in frame 1" and set class name.
in publish settings, tick "export SWC" in "flash" tab and then publish swf. this will produce a soundAssets.swf and soundAssets.swc file - you just need the swc
finally, in your main fla, goto actionscript settings and in "library path" tab, add the swc by clicking on the + sign and then the flash symbol (f).
now you can reference the sounds by class as before but they are stored in another fla. each time you change the sounds in soundAssets.fla, you will need to republish the swc

  • Unable to Import Mp3

    I've tried many things.
    I've changed the Mp3 ID, I've tried many different mp3s. I've
tried importing them into new documents as well as existing
documents. I have even changed the bitrate. I have gone through 16
to 128 but mp3s simply will not import. I have tried dragging mp3s
onto the stage. It just will not work.
WAVs will import, but sometimes they play at double the
    speed.
One or two mp3s will import on a rare occasion.
I used to be able to import mp3s before.
I have not recently changed any hardware.
The message is : "One or more files were not imported because
    there were problems reading them"

    Two possibilities:
    1. If the file name is longer than 31 characters, import will fail. Try shortening the name if this is the case.
    2. Sometimes Logic seems to have trouble converting the MP3 to AIFF successfully on import. When it does, I use a different program to convert first (Peak in my case, though iTunes would probably do the job too), then import the AIFF into Logic.
