Issues in BEx Broadcasting through email

Dear Experts,
I am currently facing a very weird issue while broadcasting BEx reports. What i have noticed is that it is not possible to schedule the same report with two different settings at the exactly same time.
Suppose the Bex report name is DEMO_QUERY. Now i want to schedule it with two different technical settings for different selections but at the same time, say 8:00:01 AM. When i schedule the report, i get no errors. But at the time of execution, only one them is broadcasted and the other fails with the following generic error.
Java system error: Exception in method processFunction.
Message no. RSBOLAP018
Now this error has been widely discussed on SCN but none of them fits my scenario. The resolution provided in many threads points to running a diagnostic tool on the portal. I have even checked the number of processes allocated to BROADCAST and so on.
But if i space the two settings by say one minute or so, i get both the broadcasts. So i want to learn that is there a technical w.r.t BEx broadcaster which prevents it from broadcasting same report at same time with two different settings.

Hi Michael,
The current setting is 3,default i guess. But there are many other BEx queries which are scheduled at the same time. Problem is only encountered when the same BEx query is scheduled with multiple broadcast settings to run at the same time. If it was an issue with Java server then shouldn't it be affecting other reports also which are scheduled at the same time.

Authorisation issue regarding BEX Broadcaster

Hi all
Does anyone know why I maybe getting an authorisation issue attempting to broadcast a pdf report via the Bex broadcast tool?
The recipient user has all the relevant authorisations and roles attached, and when this report is previewed in Bex Report Designer, the report runs fine showing all the data for the report, However when the report is scheduled via the Bex broadcaster, the broadcast fails. RSRD_LOG shows the following message
Java communication error: RFC destination NOT_CONFIGURED does not exist.
Message no. RSBOLAP017
And in T-code sm21, I get the following error
X MESSAGE BRAIN 299: SAPLRSEC_CHECKS
RSEC_GET_AUTH_HIER_FOR_USER:NOHIE
This indicates that there is an authorisation error with my user, however as mentioned earlier all the authorisation objects and roles seem correct as the report runs fine as I can preview in bex report designer with no authorisation problems at all.
I have also executed the report in T-code RSECADMIN this also shows no errors in the error log and the report runs fine here too.
Please can anyone advise?

Hi Forhad,
I'm not sure if the error is related to the communication between the Java and the BW or if it's a problem with the authorization.
Are you using a customer exit or an authorization variable in your query/bookmark?
Check if by chance your query have an hirarchy assigned to a characteristic, then, check the user's authorization and check whether you have enough authorization for the hierarchy.
I'm unsure, but maybe note 916090 can help you.

Problems in Broadcasting BEx Workbook through email

Dear All,
I am having this problem for quite some time now i have also searched SDN for related articles but to no avail kindly help me out anyone plss plss; i am having problems broadcasting workbooks via email; i get the following error:

then i get this error
Precalculation failed: E Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A9C68.
and the broadcasting fails. I tried to test my precalculation server and thru txn RSPRECADMIN i am able to email my workbook, it works fine.

Thanx Edward i upgraded my precalc. server to latest version and now am able to broadcast my workbook; but theres still a small problem; the workbook gets emailed but i receive the following errors:

BEx Broadcasting through e-mail

Dear Gurus,
I have a situation where, we are supposed to broadcast reports every month to the users e-mail.
Report has to be broadcasted to different users with different Cost Centers .
I have 3 selections for the report of which 2 selections are populated through CMOD and one is user i/p.
We dnt have EP so this has to be done through BEX .

I also face same situation in my past project, We can broadcast BEx Report to user.
1. Inform Basis team to includ yours and User's Mail ID in their there BW ID using SU01
2. Then tell Basis to do necessory configuration to Broadcast report using SICF and SCOT transaction.

BEx Broadcasting through e-mail, using dynamic variant

Dear SAP Gurus,
I'm new to SAP-BI, I came across the following situation:
I've a query based on which the reports are being generated.
My client wants to broadcast it every month, as they don't have any portal, so it has to be done through e-mail.
the query has 3 system variable which are FISCALYEAR and CALDAY, i dont remember 3rd.
So, I've to create DYNAMIC VARIANT, I tried the following procedure but its not working.

1. What you need is dynamic filling the variant value.
2. In transaction SE38 enter the variant name
3.choose the attributes button.
4. Here you can set the field to u201Cselection variable.u201D
5.Then you can define something like SY-DATUM(4) for fiscal year and in the same way for calday SY-DATUM+6(2) .

I have a similar issue here:
I'm working on BW3.5 module and I'm trying to scheule a report in BEX broadcaster with a predefined time. Eg: Every Wed day after Fisc quarter ends. I created a job with name TP_BROADCASTING_**** and included the ABAP program in step :RSRD_BROADCAST_FOR_TIMEPOINT.
Now In the start condition I selected start date as wed day after fisc qtr close and put the period value as every 3 months and restriction in cal Id as factory calendar.
Now I have two questions...How can I select just wed nesday after the fisc quarter close ? Is there a std SAP exit variable exist for this ? Or do I need to create one and write ABAP code in Exit ? I tried with Event and other ways but its not showing in scheduler...
Second one is I logged in to Broadcaster and created new setting for query and filled all recipents etc...now When I tried to schedule this I can not see my Quarterly pre defined time here...But if I change this time to some other calender time period I can see that in scheduler...
Is there any other way of scheduling the reports at a specific time period ?thanks inadvance

System gets me to the portal while I calling BEx Broadcasting through Query Designer or Analyzer. Why?? I don't need portal, I want distribute my report by email.

You're connecting to the portal, since the broadcaster is part of the portal. You'll after connection access to the broadcaster options.

BEx Broadcaster --HTML error

Hello All...
I am having many issues with BEx Broadcaster when it comes to scheduling. Thought someone may be able to give me some advice here.
Ok, so I am scheduling about 20 web templates to output into PDF and be broadcasted over to the portal inbox of the user. Its working in many cases...however several are giving me errors. The errors seem to be found in rsrd_admin when I go to
'display logs'. The error sort of looks like this.

Not able to open BEx Broadcaster after BW 7.4 Upgrade

Hi BW Gurus,
I am getting the error as shown below while trying to open the BEx Broadcaster. Please refer below for the step by step procedure.
This is seen after the BW 7.4 Upgrade. It was working perfectly till 7.3. Please guide me is there is any setting has to be changed.

I am not able to open the BEx Broadcaster through the Query Designer after the 7.4 Upgrade. The steps of my activity include :
     1. Open BEx Query Designer
     2. Open an existing query which needs to be broadcasted.
     3. Publish -> BEx Broadcaster.

I think if you go thru transaction SNOTE, you can download and see a PDF of a KBA.
But I always access via market place (which is exactly the same steps of SAP notes):

BEx Broadcaster Send button - No Broadcast Wizard with Key Figures in Rows

Working in BI 7.0 SP 16, we are having an issue with BEx Broadcaster. For a typical horizontal query (key figures in columns), the send button in BEx on the Portal works properly and returns the Broadcasting Wizard. However, when using a query in a vertical format (key figures in rows), the window opended by the send button displays the "spinning wheel" and never procceds on to the Broadcasting Wizard.
I have checked for SAP notes related to BEx Broadcaster and was not able to find anything relevant.
The same query was tested with the key figures in columns and in rows. The Broadcast Wizard comes up when the key figures are in columns, but not in rows. Since it was tested both ways with the same query, I am assuming that the issue is related to the orientation (horizontal vs. vertical).
Has anyone else run into this issue? Is there a known limitation, or a patch available? Does anyone have a BI system with a query you could flip the key figures from columns to rows and give it a try?

I'm having my own issues with BEx Broadcaster in the Portal, but from BEx Query Designer - Query - Publish - BEx Broadcaster, the BEx Broadcaster Wizard is available in both cases (Key figures in columns and key figures in rows).

Alerts to email when Bex Broadcaster Failed

Hi Experts,
Currently we are broadcasting Business KPI reports to the users from SAP BI at a scheduled time.
These broadcast settings are based on webtemplate. Some times the broadcast setting which is scheduled will fail due to the most frequest errors like " Error while generating HTML" etc.
The issue is only temporary basis, next time the same error will not come and the issue is not reproducable.So is there a way we can configure the alerts to emails when the bex broadcast setting is failed.
Transaction to see logs of broadcast settings is RSRD_LOG.

3 possible solutions that come to mind:
1. Write custom ABAP program that checks RSR_PREC_SETT table and sends email when report failed entry is made, and schedule program to run periodically
2. Create process chain that kick off Broadcaster report and would also notify if report has failed.
3. You can also schedule RSR_PREC_SETTINGS_RESTART with Current date variant to run periodically and this job will restart any failed broadcaster reports from that day (stored in table RSR_PREC_SETT)

its very simple. just go to any of the form and on the top left side you will find a icon for "post new topic" if you click that that will take you to new post and there you can type yopu question. if the radio button below that windo showing to mark it as question is clicked then you can reward points to the answers. then your post will be displayed as a seperate thread with the subject that you have given while creating it.
and for viewing the answers its same as what you did with this post. just click on the topic like you did now.

When trying to EMAIL from BEX Broadcaster get a 400 bad HTTP request

When we try to run an email from BEX broadcaster, we get the message below.   We looked in the ICM and it says the request is too large, but when when I copy the request and paste it into the browser it works, any ideals?

Hi David,
Not exactly sure what the issue is here, but would like to give you some pointers that might help anyway. The error message you see in the ICM would be where I would start. You need to remember that the HTTP request is more than just the URL that you paste into the browser, the URL is one part of it, but there are a heap of other things that go into making the full HTTP request (e.g. POST data, header values etc...)

How do you delete the email addresses in the BEx Broadcast wizard(send..F4)

Hi
In the BEx Broadcast wizard, you can enter email addresses manually or then you can see them on the drop down list(previously used email ids).
Question: you can create any email address and send to these but how do you delete those ones you have added? That means I dont want those email ids that display in the dropdown list or (F4) (can find next to the send column where we give recipent email id in the Broadcast wizrd).
Please help me in this regard.
