Issues in dropping user
Hi All,
I am trying to drop a schema using the below command
DROP USER MSPP CASCADE
Once i issue this command its just hanging. I am not getting any response
I guess the schema is being used by users or schema objects are being used by user.
Is there any command like to drop the schema with immediate effect etc ?
Please advise..
tried..below is the output..

hi Florian
S cnos user exists in dba_users view. how can i delete it?You cannot "DELETE" a user. You can only "DROP" the user.
Did you go through the metalink reference posted above? -
Is drop user cascade DDL statement will be reflected in physical standby DB
Hi,
Oracle 10G
Physical standby database
When issuing drop user cascade in Primary DB , Will the same be reflected in physical standby ? or there is any exceptions of applying DDLs and DMLs ?
Thank you in advance,
MohamedWill the same be reflected in physical standby ?
Yes.
or there is any exceptions of applying DDLs and DML
No, not in a physical standby.
You do some exceptions in a logical standby.

Query to find dropped users in database
Hi i have requirement to drop all invalid objects in database where user no longer exists in database, it is documented by oracle that if a cascade drop is performed on a userid that objects like MV & synonyms etc.. will become INVALID but will not be dropped from database.
Anybody has any idea how we can find such INVALID objects of users whose id is dropped from database.
Appreciate your help in advance.
Thanks
AbhinayIt is documented that when you issue DROP USER some_user CASCADE user and all objects owned by that user are dropped. And if object is dropped it simply doesn't exist and therefore can be neither VALID nor INVALID. Unless you are talking about objects owned by some other user that is referencing dropped user object. Something like:
SQL> create user u1 identified by u1 default tablespace users quota unlimited on users;
User created.
SQL> create user u2 identified by u2 default tablespace users quota unlimited on users;
User created.
SQL> create table u1.tbl as select * from dual;
Table created.
SQL> grant select on u1.tbl to u2;
Grant succeeded.
SQL> create view u2.u1_tbl_vw as select * from u1.tbl;
View created.
SQL> select object_name,object_type,status from dba_objects where owner = 'U2';
OBJECT_NAME OBJECT_TYPE STATUS
U1_TBL_VW VIEW VALID
SQL> drop user u1 cascade;
User dropped.
SQL> select object_name,object_type,status from dba_objects where owner = 'U2';
OBJECT_NAME OBJECT_TYPE STATUS
U1_TBL_VW VIEW INVALID
SQL>
Then you have to query DBA_DEPENDENCIES before dropping the user:
SQL> create user u1 identified by u1 default tablespace users quota unlimited on users;
User created.
SQL> create user u2 identified by u2 default tablespace users quota unlimited on users;
User created.
SQL> create table u1.tbl as select * from dual;
Table created.
SQL> grant select on u1.tbl to u2;
Grant succeeded.
SQL> create view u2.u1_tbl_vw as select * from u1.tbl;
View created.
SQL> column owner format a10
SQL> column name format a10
SQL> select owner,name,type from dba_dependencies where referenced_owner = 'U1';
OWNER NAME TYPE
U2 U1_TBL_VW VIEW

Drop user command hangs on 10.2.0.1
Hi,
db version: 10.2.0.1 64 bit
os : sun 5.9
I created a sample user
$. sqlplus / as sysdba
sql> create user 'test' identified by test default tablespace tools;
granted connect and resource to the user
sql> created sample table and inserted few values in the table.
now when i try to drop the user the session hangs for ever.
sql> drop user test cascade;
is this a bug? or am I missing something?
ThanksGet SYSTEMSTATE and HANGANALYZE Dumps
This creates a large trace file in the user_dump_dest (30M or more is not unusual).
Note: the init<sid>.ora parameter MAX_DUMP_FILE_SIZE controls the maximum trace file size. Using Oradebug and setting unlimit will allow a complete dump which we will need.
Do this step for sure if the entire database is frozen or nearly frozen and if this condition came on suddenly and there are no archive errors in the alert log. Please note: As systemstate dumps are instance specific, they tend to be inconclusive with hanging problems involving Oracle Parallel Server (OPS) unless you get them from each node. You will need 3 system state dumps from each node for OPS.
NOTE: Do systemstate dump 3 times in a row, so we can determine whether
the processes are hung or active.
For Oracle 9.2.0.1 or higher
$ sqlplus /nolog
connect / as sysdba
oradebug setmypid
oradebug unlimit
oradebug hanganalyze 3
wait 90 seconds
oradebug hanganalyze 3
oradebug dump systemstate 10
wait 90 seconds
oradebug dump systemstate 10
wait 90 seconds
oradebug dump systemstate 10

URGENT How to recover from a drop user comand
Hi.
My database is 9i release 2. Archive is not enable. Backup: cold backup (physical and exp)
A drop user cascade command was accidentally issued.
Given the circuntances, what options do i have
- Will flashblack help
- Can i use logminer
Thanks ind advance ...!
PD. URGENT PLEASE ....!Whoever decided to run in noarchive log mode should explain that the the data is lost, but that it doesn't matter. Firm but fair.
I had to do this once. I inherited a database and only discovered that didn't have archivelogmode switched on when it crashed (it was my first DBA gig). Since then it's the first thing I check before I do anything in a production environment.

How to restore views and procedures after drop user command?
How to restore views and procedures after drop user command?
We have 817 EE on NT and one developer created a lot of procedures, functions and vews. DB was not backuped and archived and export has not been done - our fault and we understand it. Sorry for this.
Ok, now the story: another developer dropped this db user and we lost everything: procedures, functions and vews. The new user with trhe same name was created and new schema was imported in this user, but all old objects are lost. We don't have export and backup and archive log files.
Question: may we can restore this lost stuff from some other sources. We are looking for lost codes, not data. May be we can use redo logs or shared pool or any other things. Any idea will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Victor
[email protected]The switch has occurred after user was dropped, the data has been overwritten and there is be no way to use redo log files.
I would like to explore another opportunity. Is possible to use Shared Pool or any Data Dictionary internal information to restore texts of the lost SQL and PL/SQL scripts executed in this DB before user was dropped? Not too many scripts are executed in this DB and the lost ones may still be in stack. I remember that Shared Pool (cash) should keep last executed scripts in order to improve performance. They probably are kept in some special format. Can we restore these scripts? Of course they also might be pushed out by Import that had been done after user was dropped.
Thanks for your help,

Error dropping user in Oracle 9.2.0.8 on Windows
When I do a drop user either command line or using OEM, I get the following error:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01001: invalid cursor
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [qmxiUnpPacked2], [121], [], [], []
Has anyone seen this?
Cheers/Are you working a newly created database, or one that just upgraded?
That error generally appears when the catpatch.sql was not ran.
If so try, the following:
shutdown the database
startup migrate
spool patch.log
@?/rdbms/admin/catpatch.sql
spool
Verify that no errors are appear in patch.log. If no error occured, shutdown the database and start it back up. -
I am writing a Pl/SQL script to delete a user from certain tables and then end it with a DROP USER command. Is this possible and if so
how would I code the variable that I inputed into my &username_in variable? Is DROP USER a command that can not be used in a PL/SQL command because even when I do it straight like DROP USER XXXXXX; I get some sort of PRAGMA error.
thanks
Dan WillgingIt should work like this, but i haven`t tested it:
create or replace procedure drop_user ( user_name in varchar2 ) as
cur INTEGER;
begin
cur := DBMS_SQL.open_cursor;
DBMS_SQL.parse ( cur, 'DROP USER ' | | user_name, DBMS_SQL.V7 );
DBMS_SQL.close_cursor( cur );
exception
when others then
DBMS_SQL.close_cursor( cur );
raise_application_error( -20000,'Error in drop_user', true );
end;
In Oracle 8 you can also write this shorter version
create or replace procedure drop_user ( user_name in varchar2 ) as
begin
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'DROP USER ' | | user_name;
end; -
How to drop Users DBF file in oracle 11g?
Hi All
I dropped the user and want to free the table space(To import another user(Which has more than 10 GB of record).
the below is my query which i used to import the data and schema
impdp system/test DIRECTORY=dump_dir DUMPFILE=exp_test.dmp FULL=Y LOGFILE=import_test.log REMAP_TABLESPACE=TEST_DATA:USERS
After dropping my user i checked into the folder C:\oradata\orcl and i found two files USERS01.DBF(21.1GB,its 21.1 gb because i tried to cretae an another schema nd i got stuc up with low disk space.) and TEMP01.DBF(1.66GB).
I tried to drop USERS tablespace and i could nt able to do it.
Can any one help me to reduce the size of both two files?
Thanks & Regards

;I'm not sure the RENAME clause allows multiple files to be listed like that. In any event, just reduce the chance of error, I'd do it file by file.
You forgot to mention that you need to actually move the files, at the os level. All the above does is change their entries in the control file. It doesn't do anything at all to the files themselves.

No need for the shutdown. You could just ALTER DATBASE OPEN.

you can get a full listing of files by
alter database backup controlfile to trace;
and you can then copy and paste from that ...
Simpler, just select from dba_data_files.
eta. of course assuming you mean move your database files rather than your installation

I'm having the same buffering issues that other users are having when I try to stream a short video from my Iphone 4S to my Apple TV
Has anyone heard back from Apple on this bug ?Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Restart your mobile device.
