Issues installing iTunes latest version on Win XP Professional

iTunes Installation does not complete, due to Windows package issue. Thanks

Try following steps:
1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your device is not recognized by iTunes and iTunes is updated, I would recommend the steps in the article below.  Start with the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.

  • Unable to import cds after installing iTunes latest version 10.1.0.56

I downloaded iTunes 10.1.56 after having problems with the 10.1.0.54 version. I can only download the first 1/2 of song 1 and nothing from the rest of any cd. Under "time" for each song, my library says "Not available". When I click on it to listen it gets skipped over until a previously imported song comes up. Same thing happened with the previous version as well.
I ran diagnostics and here's the results. (It also says I'm not the Administrator but I am so that's confusing.)

There doesn't look to be any newer versions of Dell firmware for your DVD-ROM GDRH10N. It might be worth heading to Windows update and checking to see if there's a firmware update for that in your optional hardware updates.
Otherwise, head to the following page at Dell:
    [Drivers & Downloads for Dimension E521|http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WLH&catid=-1 &dateid=-1&impid=-1&osl=EN&typeid=-1&formatid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=DIMP4E521&hidos=WW1&hidlang=en&TabIndex=&scanSupported=False&scanConsent=False]
(It might indeed be worth entering your Service tag there, just to reduce the number of different available downloads for you to check through.
Check in particular to see if your BIOS and the video driver for your ATI X1300 is up to date.
There seem to be a lot of firmware updates for hard drives being listed for the E521, so also check to see if there's one for your hard drive. If so, it's probably best to update that too, just in case.
If you were behind on anything and you update, try reimporting another of the CDs that has been importing poorly. Do you get a better import this time?

I am endeavouring to upgrade iTunes. The upgrade always stalls at a point where there is a need to access Apple Software Updater, which is reported as no longer being available on my network. In My Programs, I have a folder called Apple Software Updater, to which I can browse, but within which I cannot trigger any action. Instructions suggest uninstalling iTunes, then Quicktime, then Apples Software updater, at which the de-installation process stalls as it cannot be found, whilst being there. I am advised to seek Techical Support!
    Any ideas, suggestions etc?

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple Website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Does it go through properly this time?

  • I cannot install the latest version of iTunes on laptop (windows xp). I receive a windows installer error message. Not having any issues installing any other software.  Was having no issue syncing w iPhone. Made the mistake of uninstalling prior version.

I cannot install the latest version of iTunes on my laptop (windows xp). I receive a windows installer error. Am not having any problem installing other software or syncing w iPhone.  Made the mistake today of uninstalling my older version and not cannot install new.  Need new version in order to sync w new iPad.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Apparently, security programs like Macafee and Norton view Itunes updates as new programs and block then from access. If you add Itunes to the list of exemptions, it solves the problem.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

I tried to install the latest version of iTunes on my Windows PC, but the installation failed and I have the error message "Runtime Error R6034 An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly."  When I then tried to run iTunes (assuming that, since the new install failed, my older version was still OK) I got the message "iTunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7 (Windows error 1114".  I tried then uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it fresh, but encountered the same problems. Hello mustangcim243,
iTunes has various components bundled with it that it requires for general usage. I advise that we completely remove iTunes and all of these related components, verify that they have been removed, then reinstall. To do so, please follow the steps in this article:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Note: it is important to remove the 7 components in order. Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
If the above does not resolve your issue, I recommend we reset the SC Info folder:
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389
(See Step 4: Remove the SC Info folder)
    Thanks,

  • How do I fix Registry Errors that occured during Install of iTunes latest version?

    Hardware/Software info:
    Acer Aspire lapton 5535-5050
    Vista Home premium OS
    2 GB Ram
    250 GB Sata HDrive
AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core QL-64 bit processor
I recently installed the latest version of iTunes vers. 11.x per the iTunes update process. Afterwards
itune 11 worked ok aside from the totally different startup or Store page looking so different.  Later
I tried to burn a disc from my current iTunes Library and found out my CdRom drive had been disabled
due to registry errors during the iTunes update process.  The end result was to get my CdRom drive
back in operation, I had to due a System Restore (using Vista home premium) back to a date before
    the iTunes update.
It was a successful Restore and my CdRom drive is now working again but iTunes will no longer run
due to missing files not found during attempts to start iTunes.  It tells me to reinstall iTunes again.
    1. Do I Uninstall the partial copy of iTunes listed on my Program list? (appears to iTunes 10.07.21)
first or just do an install of iTunes 11.x from the Apple iTunes web site?
    2. What is the risk of the new iTunes causing Windows registry errors and disabling my CdRom again?
    3. What is the risk of other registry errors from the new version of iTunes?
    Brad

I had the same problem after installing version 11, my CD/DVD drive was disabled/uninstalled completely.
I restored version 10.7 to get my iTunes functionality back using a backup i created before the upgrade.
Unfortunately, not being a PC wiz, I had to contact DELL support to fix the problem as a simple reinstall of the drivers failed to fix the problem. I am fortunate to still have hardware support as the PC is only 7 months old. DELL thankfully were fully aware of the problem and deleted the "Upper & Lower Filters" from my registry ("how to" available from a Google search for anyone confident enough to do this alone).
I still get the request to reinstall iTunes software on starting itunes, but for now I just click OK and move on and iTunes works fine (using version 10.7). I will probably reinstall 10.7 after doing another backup, but for now I don't need to and can do without the added grief.
DELL said this was a common problem that is easily fixed, but as yet are unaware of any further issues.
I have an Dell Inspiron 620, running on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS with 6GB Ram
Hope this helps, if nothing more than assuring you that you are not alone.
    Tony
