Issues launching iTunes windows 7 64 bit

Hi people who are hopefully a lot smarter than I am,
I can't launch iTunes on my computer. I've searched the discussion boards and tried all the fixes I've seen suggested and nothing is working. When I double-click on it it does nothing; if I hold down ctrl-shift to start it in safe mode it does nothing; I've repaired, uninstalled and reinstalled QuickTime several times; I've repaired iTunes a million times as well. It isn't showing up in my task manager at all either. The action center just keeps telling me to download the most recent version to fix the launch issue and like I said that's done nothing. I even connected my iPad via USB and that didn't get it to launch and tried deleting SC Info .sidb and .sidd files. Also, it's not responding to my storm of curse words. I've tried so many things I can't remember them all.
I'm not sure if this is related, but a couple days ago the action center already showed iTunes had failed to launch several dozen times and then my computer would freeze when it was trying to load Windows and the diagnostics were indicating HD failure. I booted to a CD of SeaTools for DOS that I had from when my HD failed over a year ago and it failed the short test and found a bunch of errors in the long test but it was able to repair them. I can get back into Windows now but my super good friend iTunes is still holding out.
What I would really like to do is fix it with a hammer, but something tells me then nothing else on my computer will work either so I'm open to any other suggestions. Has anyone else run into this issue and found a fix?

Someone else? asked the same early this AM.
I'd guess your registry was at fault to begin with, and that you need to reset all the program and file types back to defaults is all.
But then look under the hood for why as it is very uncommon and maybe Windows is at fault.
Consider total uninstall AND use Revo and maybe CCleaner 3.12 as well as clean out %TEMP% folder and run chkdsk

Well that at least is a reasonable workaround. There are no major differences between the two versions other than going full 64-bit and tidying up Get Info a bit.
    tt2
It was, for a day.  Then I needed to spend an evening trying to fix it
But ... I think I have it working.  Via the less than reasonable method of uninstalling all Apple software from the PC (again) then nuking directories from orbit before reinstalling.
For anyone following/finding this thread, I did so being sure to follow the order at Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates and uninstalling "Apple Application Support (64-bit)" before "Apple Application Support (32-bit)" then uninstalling QuickTime (again) for good measure.
I then deleted the following directories:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
    C:\Program Files\iTunes
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple
    C:\ProgramData\Apple
    C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer
    C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Apple
    C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer
    E:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Apple
    E:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Apple Computer
    E:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer
    and now it seems okay.
I've not yet reinstalled iCloud Control Panel or QuickTime, though.  And I'm fairly annoyed with Apple for lack of quality here, this is a point upgrade for goodness sake, and it's not like they couldn't afford QA.
    Thanks for the help, tt2.

  • Unable to Launch iTunes - Windows 7

I'm unable to launch iTunes on my PC.  I'm running Windows 7.  I tried t unistall and reinstall, twice, but it stll will NOT launch.  Any suggestions?

Hi b noir...I thought I did "precise text" when I said I'm unable to launch iTunes.  There is no error message there is nothing...it just does not launch.  However, I figured it out...it's a Quicktime issue.  Weird but it was.

  • Itunes + Windows 7 64 bit - very frequently hangs

Have latest update of Itunes installed (the one from the other day) - but all varients of 9 have been doing same thing for me
bascially randomly, sometimes on start of Itunes, sometimes 1 min in, and especially if downloading any Podcasts etc Itunes completely hangs, and hangs the whole computer/Windows - have to do a hard restart
if I set to "compatability mode XP SP3" - I don't get anywhere near as many hangs - in fact mostly is stable, but is slower, and I can't do drag and drop and all sorts of other things
unselect compatability mode and very very frequent crashes/hangs. Itunes hangs whether Ipod Touch is attached or not
no other program whatsoever on my computer completely hangs the OS
have performed complete reinstalls of Windows 7 in meantime, and always have the same problem
PC is a Q6600, an Asus P5B Deluxe mobo, 6 gig RAM, 4890 graphics
    any ideas please ?
    thanks, Mark.

I had tried some links I found on internet.
What worked finally was to disable all add-ons using Help --> Restart with add-ons Disabled. With this way I verified with all the add-ons disabled there was on performance problem (like my second machine with Windows 7 32 bit).
After that, I started to enable the add-ons starting from the more important for me. It still worked with no problem. I left disabled some non-important for me.
I am not sure whether the problem was from those that I left out or whether the whole process "corrected or reset" something. The result is the same. Firefox 4 in Win7 64 works like in Win7 32.

  • JavaME SDK 3.0.5 not launching on Windows 7 64 bit OS using JDK 1.6.0_27 x8

I installed JavaME SDK 3.0.5 on top of JavaME SDK 3.0 without uninstalling it at C:\Java_ME_platform_SDK_3.0.5 on Windows 7 64 bit OS using jdk1.6.0_27 x86.
The installation went fine but i am not getting any shortcuts to launch JavaME SDK 3.0.5.
No shortcut menu item for JavaME SDK launcher is available in start menu or no shortcut is available on desktop.
Menu item group in start menu is created for JavaME SDK 3.0.5. It contains
    "Documentation" and "Uninstall" shortcuts only.
When i clicked "Documentation" shortcut it complains for missing index.html file.
I checked there is no toolbar folder present inside C:\Java_ME_platform_SDK_3.0.5.
There used to be one for 3.0 at C:\Java_ME_platform_SDK_3.0\toolbar.
I do have jdk1.6.0_27 x64 installed too. Does it creates any problem?
Am i missing any installation or configuration step?
I don't have netbeans installed on my computer.

There is no "toolbar" folder in Java ME SDK installation dir anymore. All developer tools are moved to Netbeans plugins.
Remember, that Java ME SDK consists of two parts: emulator and developer tools.
In the given use case only emulator and other command line tools are accessible (see "bin" folder). You can run samples or your Java ME applications via command line interface.
To develop, debug and profile your applications you have to install Netbeans (6.9.1 or later, latest 7.0.1 is recommended) and Java ME SDK Tools on top of it.
You can do it either via installer (Netbeans have to be installed before you start Java ME SDK installation) or later from Netbeans Plugins manager (see Developer Guide in "docs" folder for details).
So, nothing wrong with installation in your case.
The only problem is the broken shortcut for documentation in Start menu. We will fix it soon.

  • Compatability issues with a Windows Vista 64 bit OS.

For the life of me I cannot get my wife's windows vista 64 bit to connect to a shared printer via Airport express. I have two other vista 32 bit laptops that work fine. Has anyone had this issue?

I realize this is an old post so this may no longer have any relavance.
Make sure you have downloaded and installed the 64 bit version. The 32 bit will install on the 64 bit machine and will not appear in the standard control panel. If you look at your control panel, look to the bottom of the list for the icon labeled "View 32-bit Control Panel". If you installed the 32 bit version, the java instance will be there.
You can install both the 32 and 64 bit versions on the same machine. Remember most installs to a 64 bit machine will put DLL's and the like into the system32 folder for 64 bit apps and into the syswow64 folder for 32 bit apps.
    Best regards,

  • ITunes won't launch in windows 7 64 bit

itunes used to work fine under Windows 7. Recently it stopped responding. It won't launch. I can see that the processes are running, in Task Manager. But iTunes never opens.
I have tried a dozen ideas from hardware review forums and I have done all that the Apple site suggests here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes 64 bit  and Quicktime and removed and re-installed the Apple Application Support.
Nothing so far has changed anything.
Can anyone help me find out why this is happening and how to correct it?

    Quicktime does NOT start
    Many thanks.
In recent times, the error-message-free iTunes and QuickTime launch failures have been indicating that another application has stashed old QuickTime componentry in your system files.
So just in case we'll go looking for older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get aCode 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

I have an issue in a Windows 2003 64 Bits Server in CMC when i'm in the authentication section i choose SAP the Role Import works fine and I can see the Users Group from SAP BW but the users don't appear.
I try the same thing in a Windows 2003 32 Bits with the same parameters and works fine i can see de User Groups and The Users from the same BW Server.
I Think i could be a problem with the 64 bits server the issue is the users from SAP BW are not imported.
    Regards Marvin Soto.

    Hi Ingo,
we have some thing similar issue. can you please help us out.
We Imported users and in options we selected concurrent and every thing worked fine up to 1 month and then automatically our license key say you have only 2 named users. we have a license key for 100 named users now. do we need to delete all the concurrent users from sap now and we need to re-import them by selecting named in options tab of sap. what is the work around for this. i tested by changing the one of the sap user profile to named instead of concurrent, then i am able to login to infoview using sap credentials but when i open a report its says you don't have enough license to perform this operation. can i know why is this happening.

  • IPod touch (1G) won't connect to iTunes Windows 7

iPod touch firmware is 3.1.3. iTunes is version 10.3.1.55. Windows 7 is Professional version, 64-bit.
I've found a number of web posts about this issue dating back to 2009, but none of those solve my issue or exactly describe it. I can put my iPod touch into Device Recovery Mode, connect to iTunes, and restore the iPod, but once that is done, I cannot connect the device to iTunes (Windows 7 64-bit mode).  However, I can connect the iPod to my Vista laptop, and I can connect the iPod to my Windows 7 machine if I run iTunes in the XP Mode virtual machine (32 bit).  I've gone through the steps looking for a conflicting USB service, and if there is one, it's part of Windows 7.  This started after I updated iTunes recently, but I'm not sure that had anything to do with it since I had not connected it in a while, and the first thing I did was update iTunes.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance. -john

I've got the same problem for a long time
did you find the answer ?

  • Is Flash Player 11.7.700.224 really compatable with Windows Vista 64-bit?

I ask this question because under System Requirements, Window Vista 64-bit isn't listed.  I've inserted the link for the system requirements below...
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/tech-specs.html
I'm trying to figure why my Flash Player disappears from time to time when I'm watching a clip/video and then my Internet Explorer 9 typically stops working, it closes down, and then it opens up and asks me if I want to restore the browsing session.  I'm thinking that this has to do with having both Internet Explorer 9 32-bit and 64-bit.  I read online that Internet Explorer 9 has both and this is why I'm questioning whether Flash Player 11.7.700.224 might be contributing to this issue or was Window Vista 64-bit left off the system requirements in error?
    Thanks!

Try using the installers from the links in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/909550
P.S. topic moved to the Installation section of the forum.

  • Can't install Captivate 3 on Windows 7 64-bit machine

When I try to install it using the installer (even setup calls the installer) it looks like it's installing until the very end. Then it suddenly rolls back it's changes and ends up not installing the software (btw, this does not have an issue on a Windows 7 32-bit machine). Has anyone else run into this issue? If so, how did you get around it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Thanks for the response. I figured out what the issue was. Even though I was saying "runas Administrator" for some reason it still wasn't able to run. I then logged on as Administrator and was able to install it without issue. The only problem I have now is it won't let me activate the product because it wants me to deinstall it from the pc it was running on and that pc is about to die and won't let me deinstall it from there (it's a very very old xp pro desktop). Any ideas?

  • Embedded Google search on our website is not showing results. Windows 8, 64 bit, Firefox 30

We have Google Search embedded in our website. It was brought to my attention by one of our employees that Firefox is not showing the results of the search after the search button is clicked. The issue seems to be only confined to Firefox. Tested the issue on Internet Explorer 10 and Google Chrome and both are working as expected, showing the results on our results page.
I am using Windows 8, 64 bit, Firefox 30. The user having the issue is on Windows 7, 64 bit.
I used the Web console and there were an error message of
'TypeError: google.search.Search.apiary5337 is not a function'.
I am not sure this is the root of the issue or not, but why would this work in Chrome and Internet Explorer and not in Firefox?
If you need to check it, out website is http://www.dmns.org/ . The search box it on the top right of the page. You will see that the page redirects to our '/results?q=searchterm'. We are a science institution so if you type "science" in the search box, you will get redirected to the '/results' page with the query string of 'science' for the search term. But in my case the search results below are blank. If you do the same search if Chrome or IE the results show fine.
Oh, I do not have any add on installed on Firefox.
Any suggestions or a fix would be great.
    Thank you.
    Carlos Mosqueda

    Problem SOLVED.
This is probably still a bug in Firefox. Our Google Search <script> that call the Javascript service from Google was within the Body tag. I moved the Script tag to the head and now it seems to work as expected. In the new Firefox, are <script> tags not allowed within the Body element?

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
