Issues opening a pdf on iphone in safari...

I am a mobile notary.... I need to upload documents from the notary company websites.  They are saved as .pdf docs, but when I click on the document, it opens in safari as a lot of jumbled up text.  It does not give me the option (when I tap screen) like most docs to open in button on screen.  It does not give me th option to open in Adobe either.  I need these docs to open and be able to print/email/read.

First thing to try is to go to the editor preferences>general and click this button, then relaunch the editor:

  • Open in pdfs in preview from Safari page

    Since the release of Safari 8.03 when a pdf page loads in Safari the icons to have the page opened in preview no longer works.
    When a PDF is open on a Safari page, bringing the cursor to the bottom of the page causes several icons to pop up, one of which used to cause the pdf to be opened by preview. Now when I click that icon nothing happens. I can export the pdf and then open in preview, but that is an extra few steps.
    Any suggestions on how to bring the behavior back?

    Have you installed the vlc plug in for safari, this might help, I'm going to try it my self and see if it works

  • Issues opening Acrobat pdf's in SharePoint 2013

    In SharePoint 2007, once I checked a pdf out and clicked on it, the pdf opened in Acrobat and I could edit it as necessary.
    However, I am having an issue opening pdf's in SharePoint 2013.  When I check the pdf out and click on open, the pdf opens in Word Web app.  How can I get SharePoint to open the pdf in Adobe?  I have researched and looked at all of the settings I could and haven't found anything.

    Yes, it is possible.
    About Philip point. Once installed, office documents will be opened in web apps by default - you can change it by activating site collection feature called "Open Documents in Client Applications by Default". After this setup, users will opens office document
    in their client applications as they've been used to before, but they will have additional option to open office documents right in their browsers (through web apps) through item context menu.

  • Opening downloaded pdfs in preview NOT safari

    Whenever I download a pdf it opens in safari.
    I want it this function to default open to preview.
    suggestions?
    thanks.

    If you click on a direct link to a pdf in Safari it will always display in Safari: if you control-click and choose to download it then when you double-click the file it should open in Preview. If it doesn't, highlight it and hit command-i; Set 'Open with' to 'Preview' and click the 'Change all' button. You can also save it as a PDF once displayed from the File menu or by clicking the download icon at the bottom of the page.
    FireFox will probably open it by default: if not open the Preferences>Applications and scroll down to 'Preview document': set it to Preview.

  • Cannot open some PDFs on iPhone or ipad

    I have deleted and reinstalled the Adobe Reader App but some PDFs from websites and emails will not open. I am opening them in the Adobe reader app. I get the following message.

    Thanks. That's probably the problem.
    Do you know if there are any apps it can be opened in. When I'm away from work I only have access to these files on a mobile device through a Blackberry App.

  • Issues opening large PDF files.

    Hi, we have a department that keeps producing large reports. These PDF files exceed 200mb.
    Is there a way to compress or speed up the opening process in Adobe Reader?
    I'm doing some testing with a 200mb file now and it's still trying to open after 30 minutes.
    Any help much appreciated.

    My suggestion is that the department producing these large documents reduces them in size before making them available.
    Adobe Acrobat can optimize PDF documents; the resulting PDF size can be as small as 1% ~ 2% of the original (depending of its contents, of course).

  • ISSUE OPENING SECURE PDF FILE

    Hi
    I am unable to open the link in the secure pdf file after entering the password. It says to double click the link to view the content in it but nothing happens when I double click it . Please help.

    Hold the Control key and click it. It should open in a browser window... or pop up a warning about Reader trying to connect to the internet. Click OK and it should connect.
    If it doesn't, the link is "broken" and there's NOTHING anyone here can do about that. ONLY the author can fix the link.

  • Open a PDF link in safari or adobe.

    I am on a website that pulls up a single page PDF. On my laptop I can click on the bookmarks chain to the left to open another PDF book. In safari on my ipad 2 I cannot find a bookmarks tab. If I open the web page in adobe I can click on the bookmarks but the link does nothing. Is there a browser or PDF viewer that can open this link. Here is the link: http://manuals.gogenielift.com/Parts%20And%20Service%20Manuals/START%20HERE.pdf. Thanks.

    Hello Paul:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
    I am away from my Macs at the momment, but let me try
    to help.
    Highlight a PDF file (do not open it). Now I am
    fuzzy...go to the menu bar and find a parameter that
    says "open with" You will see a drop down menu with
    all the available options. Select PDF and then click
    on open with this for all flike files (or something
    similar).
    My apologies for being vague - if I was at my Apple,
    I would walk myself through it first.
    Barry
    Barry, that sounds like your talking about choosing a opening application in the finder, thats not my problem, I want safari to use the correct plugin for pdf file links, how do i do that?

  • I have the current Reader but am having trouble opening online pdfs

    I have the current Adobe Reader installed but am running into an issue opening online PDF docs.  My computer says "This PDF document might not be displayed correctly.  Open with a Different Viewer."
    I tried today and got this message:
    To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade
    to the latest version of Adobe Reader from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
    For further support, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html
    On Mozilla Firefox Browser 21.0
    How can I correct this please?

    In Firefox, type "about:config" (minus the quotes) in the address bar.
    A window will open with a warning.
    Click "It's OK, I'll be careful" and open the configuration window.
    Type "js" (again, minus the quotes) in the search bar at the top.
    In the results you'll see "pdfjsviewer disabled" with a value of "true".
    Right click "true" and toggle it to "false".
    Close the configuration window.
    In Firefox options (Tools>Options for Windows - Firefox>Preferences for Mac), under the Applications tab:
    Locate Portable Document Format (PDF) or Adobe Acrobat Document(PDF)
    Click the drop down on the right and select Adobe Reader  as the app to preview in Firefox.
    This will disable Firefox's built in PDF viewer and enable Adobe reader's plugin for viewing PDFs.

  • Issue with opening PDF's on Mobile Safari

    I'm developing a Mobile Application in which i need to open a pre filled PDF in the browser at the end of a user session with data already entered by the user in my application. When i'm trying to open the pdf in the Safari browser on IPhone and IPad no user data is visible but if i choose the option "open in Adobe Reader" all the user data is visible.
    I have a web version of the same application and all the pdf's are showing up with the user data in IE, Chrome, Opera and Safari browsers on Windows platform and Safari browser on Mac.
    I'm using the following code to send a PDF to the browser
    Response.Clear();
    Response.ClearHeaders();
    Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.Private);
    Response.AddHeader("Content-Length", fileBytes.Length.ToString());
    Response.ContentType = "application/pdf";
    Response.BinaryWrite(fileBytes);
    Response.End();

    There's nothing wrong, except the fact that you have Adobe Reader installed. You don't need it, so get rid of it; it will only cause problems with Safari. What you're seeing is the contents of the PDF file, rather than having it displayed.
    If you want to download a PDF file, you can either Control-click on the link and choose "Download Linked File As…", or you can Option-click on the link for the file and it will be downloaded to your Download folder (usually your Desktop).
    If you want to view a PDF file in Safari, you don't need Adobe Reader; Safari is perfectly capable of doing this by itself and has been for years. Adobe Reader will only get in the way and slow everything down.

  • Issue with opening PDF file link from Safari

    Hi Everyone,
    I got a problem with opening PDF file link from Safari 4.04. Instead of getting a normal pdf content, it shows some weird characters. Not sure it is something wrong with Adobe Reader Plugin or Safari?
    I have uploaded a screenshot of the issue in the adobe forum (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/531870). Please help!
    Many Thanks,
    John

  • I am having issues opening PDF files in safari, I am running OSX 10.5.6

    When I attempt to open any PDf files it will either go to choose viewer to open this type file? (None available in selections?) Or just goes to a black screen where you can only cancel to get out of it.
    I was told that OSX automatically opens PDFs in Safari etc. If I right click the file / link and save linked files to download then I can open them. Is there anyway to have safari open them with the proper app automatically?
    Thank you for all replies.
    Dan

    OK, now we're on the same page. I didn't realize it but I can't open pdfs either. I'm on a brand, new iMac and pdfs don't work for me anymore. It also doesn't work in Firefox. I'll need to do some checking for both of us.
    What does work is when the cog wheel stops rotating you can save the pdf via the File->Save As menu in Safari.
