Issues printing with iPhoto after installing OS X 10.10.2

After working with 2nd and 3rd level Apple Support I was able to print photos using iPhoto after installing OS X 10.10.2. I have an HP 7520 all in one ePrinter and the latest Yosemite driver have been installed. When I tried to print a photo using iPhoto the application would hang and I had to force quit to continue. Apple support was able to identify the problem. The iPhoto application had an outstanding print job listed in the Recent heading on the left side of the screen, I do not know how this happened, but after clearing out this print job I was able to print from iPhoto. The Apple Support person said I could avoid this problem by hitting the cancel button located near the print button on the bottom of iPhoto, after any print activity had finished. He said this was a known problem when using iPhoto and Yosemite.

EW,
Kernel Panics here on the same model. My problems started after the recent Firmware Update for Airport and Airport Expresses (7.6). No other new software installed besides the Firmware Update and they are occurring daily.
I haven't seen any remedies yet....

  • What to do with iPhoto after installing and migrating to Photos?

I'm basically trying to understand what goes on with the pictures after migrating to the new Photos app:
After migrating to Photos I tried to open iPhoto which warns me that changes will not be visible in Photos. Fine, but will changes still be present in iPhoto? There are some pictures in the trash bin, which I guess will stay until I remove them from there?
I see both an iPhoto and Photos library among in my Pictures folder, about the same size. From the total disk space I do not think they are duplicates. How does it work?
Can iPhoto be removed, removing all traces, with no adverse effects on my photo library?
Another related issue that I haven't figured out: I heard that when editing in iPhoto the application would create a new image and save it on disk, while e.g. LightRoom would just store the edit information? Is it true, and how is it done in Photos?

iPhoto and Photos are sharing the image files using hard links. The photos are only once on your disk, see:

The changes will stay applied in the iPhoto Library, yes. And empty the iPhoto Trash, if you want the trash deleted.

It could, but I would wait a bit, before take this step. Check your photos library thoroughly, before you delete if.
If you should discover later, that the migration of your libraries has been faulty and you need to repeat it after repairing your libraries, you will be out of luck.
Remember, it is is just a few days after the first release of Photos as version 1.0.  There are very likely some bugs and I would not burn all bridges before the library has been thoroughly tested and you are very confident, that this early Photos release is working well on your Mac.

iPhoto and Photos have a lossless workflow like Lightroom. They store the sequence of edits, and create only a preview image of the edited version.  When you add further edits, all edits will be applied starting from the original image, and all edits can be removed and the photo reverted to the original.  With Photos this works also with iCloud Photo Library across all your devices. Edit a photo on your Mac and change the edits on our iPhone.

  • I have Mavericks installed. Cannot print with IPhoto because there are no themes

I cannot print with IPhoto because it says that I do not have themes. How do I install themes? JL

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled... this comes up when I go to update Iphoto after installing Yosemite... how do I fix this?

This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled... this comes up when I go to update Iphoto after installing Yosemite... how do I fix this?

I have resolved this issue with the apple chat support by going to the "purchases" tab in the app store - where there was a message that I had to accept updates for the apps that wouldn't update.  Once I did this, signing in for each of them, they all updated just fine.

  • I purchased iPhoto after installing Yosemite, but App store shows the download is "waiting"

I purchased iPhoto after installing Yosemite, but App store shows the download is "waiting", with a greyed out box that says pause.

    Hi exyankee,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, an app is stuck on waiting. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.

  • I can't update iPhoto after installing OSX 10.9.2, it has the name otto@**** in the apple ID box and will not let me change it. Any thoughts?

    Hello people,
I can't update iPhoto after installing OSX 10.9.2, it has the name otto@**** in the apple ID box and will not let me change it. Any thoughts?
    Thanks

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
    1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
    Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
    Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
    4. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method.

  • I can't update iPhoto after installing yosemite

i can't update or open iPhoto after installing yosemite

Ok so here's what you gonna do. (had this problem myself today, and after some fiddling figured out what to do.)
Find your old iPhoto with a cross through it, right-click it and select 'show package contents'. A folder will open. In that folder go to Contents>MacOS and there will be three little things there. Click on the one called 'iPhoto' and terminal will open. Leave terminal open and wait four seconds and VOILA! iPhoto opens. Leave terminal open until you are finished with iPhoto, because if you close terminal, iPhoto will close with it. THX! ENJOY! Hope it works.
    P.S.
You can close terminal once you close iPhoto. I also suggest backing up your iPhoto library while you can.

  • Usually i back my IPhone with ICloud, after installing IOS 5 it asked me to restore from I Tunes what i have to do?

usually i back my IPhone with ICloud, after installing IOS 5 it asked me to restore from ITunes what i have to do to restore all my contact, applications and others?

If your iPhone does not search for a wi-fi connection before you are asked whether you want to set it up as new phone or restore a backup from iTunes, then I guess you have the same issue as highlighted in this thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/19638850?ac_cid=tw123456#19638850
iCloud back ups can only be accessed via wi-fi that's why you are not granted this option, I have the exact same issue.

  • Should I trash iPhoto after installing Photo?

Should I trash iPhoto after installing Photo?

Should I trash iPhoto after installing Photo?
Why would you want to do that? You paid for it, and Photos cannot do everything that iPhoto can, for example add location data to photos or batch changing the titles. Don't trash iPhoto, before you have explored your migrated photos library thoroughly and are sure, that all photos migrated correctly, and before you have tested all features of the new Photos and are sure, that there are no hidden bugs on your system, that would require reverting to iPhoto until the bugs are fixed.  And even if you, be sure, to keep a backup of iPhoto and your iPhoto library - best make a bootable clone of your system. Better be safe than sorry.

  • Problem to print with iPhoto and epson stylus photo RX620

I asked a question about the print with Iphoto. Larry gave some explainations but it still doesn't work. I can change the reglages with Safari, with Mail but not with Iphoto. So when I try to print photos, the reglage is standard and the result is bad. I would like to change the reglage, if i use glassy photo paper. With my PC, I have no problem to print with window or picassa. Thanks for your answer.

First I have no idea in the world what "reglage" is
But what ever printer specific options are available are supplied by the manafacturer's print driver and these are available on the last print window

  • Cant get ical to sync with iphone after installing OSX

cant get ical to sync with iphone after installing OSX

I too was a mobileme user and have just migrated to iCloud on mackbook pro w/OS 10.7.4. Transition caused my sent mailboxes to rearrange themselves so that I have no comprehensive 'sent' mailbox as I did previously and the view on both incoming and outgoing mailboxes keeps rearranging itself no matter how many times I set preferences. One result is that search function no longer works.  Is anyone else having problems like this?  All was fine for a week after transition but after having an evening when my password was repeatedly rejected I had to log in and out of iCloud (as directed by tech support) and w/in an hour or so the mailbox problem began.

  • Anyone have trouble with IPad3 after installing OS6.1.3?  keeps crashing

Anyone having trouble with iPad3 after installing OS6.1.3?  Mine keeps crashing.

Mine seems to be just fine.
    Try a reset,
Reset your iPad by pressing the 'Sleep' and 'Home' button at the same time for about 15 seconds or so. Your iPad  will then go through a reset / reboot procedure and will be ready for use within about a minute.
Don't worry about doing this as you will not lose data or settings.
Good luck and do report back.
