Issues reformating a read-only flashdrive
Here's the link to my previous question regarding the flashdrive: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2255840&tstart=0
It was suggested that I reformat it but I'm having issues. I tried following instructions off another website but that got me nowhere. Could someone give me the idiot proof instructions?
When mine became partially defective, long out of warranty, there was
no trouble using Disk Utility in the Mac OS X to erase & reformat it.
The cost of these has come down somewhat, even in my state where
most everything is marked up well beyond the real costs involved. I
can get good name brands with a warranty from warehouse or big-box
stores when I am in the largest town in my state, from national resellers.
So, I look at the Flash USB drives as a disposable commodity, when
compared to a CF camera card for my Nikon DSLR, of equal capacity.
And this comparison also adds the read-write speeds of the camera.
+A new 64GB Flash USB drive is under $150. now, since more products+
+are using flash memory and the market has driven some prices lower.+
+The 16GB Flash is about $30. or so, even among good brands.+
But if it does not work, there still may be a warranty or guaranty.
Some have a two-year limited warranty, so it is worth a look.
In any event, if disk tools and formatting can't help, it does not matter
what the item cost; the value becomes zero.
Good luck & happy computing!

Shuttle issue when in read only mode
version: Application Express 3.2.0.00.27
I have created a shuttle based on an LOV. It displays the correct values on the left.
select party_name d, party_id r
from tbl_parties
order by 1The right side is populated as a source from a function that returns the ID delimited by a colon(ID1:ID2).
When in edit mode(not read only). The shuttle functions and displays correctly. In readonly mode however what is displayed is only the ids and not the description.
The description of each value(id) is displayed correctly in edit mode.
I also tried using a sql query instead of a function as the source. When I do that, the description is displayed but just one record(even though more then one should return). This is in read only mode. In edit more nothing returns.
Source for the sql is
Select party_name d , ':' , p.party_id r
from tbl_authorization_parties a, tbl_parties p
where a.party_id = p.party_id
and a.authid = :P14_AUTHIDalso tried:
Select party_name d , p.party_id r
from tbl_authorization_parties a, tbl_parties p
where a.party_id = p.party_id
and a.authid = :P14_AUTHIDWith sql as a source in edit mode nothing is displayed on the right side.Hi ashalon,
have you checked APEX 4.1, because I think in the most current version this is not the case anymore. You can test 4.1 on apex.oracle.com.

Refresh issue in read only VOs
Hi,
We have a create/edit page where user creates a particular entity say A. There is another search page where one of the search criteria is the entity A. This search criteria is shown as a dropdown in this page. The problem is, once the entity is created, it does not immediately gets reflected in other page search criteria drop down. There is a inconsistent lag in time after which the entity appears. Some times its 30 minutes to 1 Hrs. Kind of it looks like a cache issue of a read only VO which probably might get pushed out of cache after a lag and comes back, but we are not sure if there is any parameter to control this default behavior. Also this behavior was observed only in System testing environment. This behavior was not observed in any of our development instances. We are in release 12.1.3. Any pointers would be helpful.
Thanks and Regards,
BalajiFrom the documentation
>
When a view object has one or more underlying entity usages, you can create new rows, and modify or remove queried rows. The entity-based view object coordinates with underlying entity objects to enforce business rules and to permanently save the changes to the database. In addition, entity-based view objects provide these capabilities that do not exist with read-only view objects:
Changes in cache (updates, inserts, deletes) managed by entities survive the view object's execution boundary.
Changes made to relevant entity object attributes through other view objects in the same transaction are immediately reflected.

Read Only Permission on project site (PS 2013)
In Project Server 2010, if someone could see all projects, and had the “View Project Site” permission (basically the Executives group), you would end up with only Read rights on a project site. You could view stuff, but not edit anything.
In Project Server 2013 we are having an issue with giving read only access to project sites. After comparing our customized groups/categories with the ‘out of the box’ Portfolio Viewers security permissions we have actually given our groups less permissions.
We want these users to be able to see all projects, but only have read only permissions on the project sites. That is not happening. The executives end up with contribute permissions similar to what a team member with assignments on a project
would get.
any feedback will be appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi
1-) If the source database is read only, do i still need recovery in the destination when i active duplicate ?
2-) If i issue, "alter database read only", does system,undo tablespace become read only as well ? As far as i know, system tablespace can never become read only.
3-) If I manually put all tablespaces to read only mode (except undo,system ) and active duplicate source database. Do i still neeed recover on destination ?
ThanksHi,
>>1-) If the source database is read only, do i still need recovery in the destination when i active duplicate ?
Please check the status of tablespace in database and decide. If the database is opened in read only mode, why do you think it needs recovery ? did you try to corrupt some data files manually at OS level ?
2-) If i issue, "alter database read only", does system,undo tablespace become read only as well ? As far as i know, system tablespace can never become read only.
No, You can check the status of these files yourself as below:
I have run this query on standby active database and result comes;
select TABLESPACE_NAME, STATUS from dba_tablespaces where TABLESPACE_NAME in ('SYSAUX', 'SYSTEM', 'UNDOTBS1') ;
TABLESPACE_NAME STATUS
SYSAUX ONLINE
SYSTEM ONLINE
UNDOTBS1 ONLINE
3-) If I manually put all tablespaces to read only mode (except undo,system ) and active duplicate source database. Do i still need recover on destination ?
It is not clear, are you doing rman restore on the other side ?

GC.Collect();
GC.WaitForPendingFinalizers();I know it's a very old issue and I reached to this page looking for a solution. Finally, I have found a fix to this problem.
The problem is that we create an instance of Word and do not close it correctly. This makes program believe that the file is already open and hence you're getting the respective message of file being locked by you.
Set the visibility of your application to true and then when you close it both file and instance should close and you will not get the problem again. -
[SOLVED] Root mounted as "Read-only filesystem". mkinitcpio issue?
I am currently in the middle of setting up system encryption with LUKS. I have been making good progress so far, but I do have one remaining issue.
After typing my LUKS password, the Linux kernel starts to complain that root is a read-only filesystem. "Starting NetworkManager... cannot touch file XYZ: Read-only filesystem". When it has finally finished booting, I am dropped into a TTY. I can log in and cat my files, but I cannot write to any files our use any programs that do (like pacman).
I wonder if this is an mkinitcpio issue, but I am not sure. For whatever it's worth, here's my basic setup:
* /dev/sda1: Boot
* /dev/sda2: Swap
* /dev/sda3: Root (LUKS/ext4)
* menu.lst looks like this
* /etc/fstab contains this line:
/dev/mapper/root / ext4 defaults 0 1
* /etc/mkinitcpio.conf contains these lines:
MODULES="ext4"
HOOKS="base udev pata scsi sata encrypt filesystems"
edit: I should note that I did reinstall the kernel after making those edits to mkinitcpio.conf.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong? As always, I really do appreciate the help. Thanks in advance!
Last edited by jalu (2011-04-16 22:14:20)So it looks like this major problem was caused by a minor mistake. The file /etc/rc.sysinit was not executable. This made it impossible for the kernel to run the script, which in turn made it impossible for the kernel to mount /dev/sda2 (the swap partition) at /dev/mapper/swap. For some unknown reason, this in turn caused /dev/sda2 to be mounted at /, messing everything up.
Anyway, a simple sudo chmod +x /etc/rc.sysinit fixed the problem. Thanks for the help, MadTux! -
By default, read only table should take selected row as current row as long as we have
selectedRowKeys & selectionListener within table definition. But, it doesn't, why?
How to resolve this issue? Thanks.you can verify your selectionListener event by creating your own custom selection listener
public void mySelectionListener(SelectionEvent selectionEvent) {
FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
String me = "#{bindings.myViewObject1.collectionModel.makeCurrent}"
MethodExpression myMethodExpr = fc.getApplication().getExpressionFactory().createMethodExpression(fc.getELContext(),me, null, new Class[] {SelectionEvent.class});
myMethodExpr.invoke(fc.getElContext(), new Object[] {selectionEvent});
RowKeySet rwKeySet = selectionEvent.getAddedSet();
and in your jspx <af:table selectionListener="#{package1.view.backing_myBackingBean.mySelectionListener}"/>
by that way you can atlest verify whats wrong... ,hope this helps, -

We found an issue in the 1.0.0.4 version of PQA. When selecting a media reference file the 'Frames' indicator is not populated and the file path remains greyed-out if the file is marked as read-only. When it is not read-only everything is peachy keen. I didn't see anything about this in the documentation so it's possible a lucky Austinite just won a FREE CAR!
CTA, CLA, MTFBWYI'd like to point out that this issue has been resolved as of PQA 2014. You can download the latest version here.

Bit concerned, my iMac seemed to crash yesterday... when i restarted the iMac .. i got the following message:
OS X can’t repair the disk “DroboPro.”
You can still open or copy files on the disk, but you can’t save changes to files on the disk. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can
At the time the iMac crashed, i was downloading some files over the web... and at the same time importing a movie into iTunes. I believe it was iTunes that possibly crashed first... it seemed to be taking longer than normal to import a movie into iTunes, but left it running and went and ate dinner. when i returned, i couldn't wake the machine from the screen saver. it appeared to have locked up. I had no choice but to hard-reset the imac. when it rebooted, the external drive (drobopro) was in read only mode - i can read from it but can't write to it.
I have been initially trying to trouble shoot this as a DroboPro issue - but that drive seems fine. most of the reading i have done points to a permissions issue which is something in OS X that needs fixing.
I found these support articles on the drobo website
1) http://support.drobo.com/app/answers/det...d-only-and
2) http://support.drobo.com/app/answers/det...ld-i-do%3F
Per the first article, I tried using drobo dashboard app to shut down the drobopro, then restart my imac and then bring the drobopro back up again to clear the permissions issue. that didn't work. (I actually tried that twice)
When I go into disk utility on the imac, and click on the drobo disk... i cannot click on the repair permissions button, its greyed out. i can click on verify disk... when i readthe details that come up.. in red it says Invalid Node structure, The Volume DroboPro could not be verified completely, the File system check exit code is 8; Error: The disk needs to be repaired, click Repair disk.
i checked the tools in drobo dashboard and according to drobo dashboard the disk is healthy. its about 50% utilised; so definitely no space issues. i have 4 x 2TB disks in it and setup i a high redundancy mode so actual available space is about 5.4TB, and there is 2.62 TB available.
I then looked back at the first article again - and it says to get cocktail disk utility. i got that and went to PILOT tab as suggested, but the only option is to repair permissions on Mackintosh HD. so i went ahead and repaired the permissions on Mackintosh HD, but that hasn't fixed the issue either. The last options seems to be to do a super user move via the Apple Terminal, which i am a little apprehensive about doing - so i have avoided that.
Drobo support suggested i try DiskWarrier - i have downloaded that app and tried to repair permissions using that. again i can only run that on the imac disc, but that doesn't work either!?
I am stuck now, what shall i try? look forward to see if anyone can help.Ok, so I have to apologise for that fact that a minute after making this post I managed to fix the problem...
Blew the dirt from the connector port. Really...? You ask...
This sure did fix my problem and after doing some more hard searching through the forums here looks like it fixed others too.
Dirt in the connector port meant the iPhone thought (for some reason) it was connected to a dock or such, thus removing the controls.
Anyway, cheers and hope this might help someone else. -
Files don't open or will only open 'Read Only'. Server reboot resolves issue for 1 day
Greetings!
We have a SharePoint 2010 Foundation server that I recently inherited. I'm a novice at SharePoint, but let me cut to the chase.
Users have recently (within the last week) started experiencing a problem where if they open a file, it will error either saying that the file cannot be opened, or it will only open in read only. This occurs with Excel, Word, Power Point docs. They CAN however,
open and edit these documents in the browser with web apps. After launching the full office application, if they click 'Edit Document', it will appear to switch to editable mode, but the title bar will still contain 'Read Only' and they can't save changes
directly back and are forced to do a 'Save As'. The only thing I have been able to do to remedy this is to quiesce the server and reboot it. After reboot, it will work until something magical happens overnight and it's broken again the next morning. I'm trying
to hunt down what this magical event is but could use some help.
Note that after I reboot the server, users can access and modify normally, no rebooting of workstations or closing of any applications (including the browser that's already on SharePoint) for it to start working, so I believe we can eliminate an endpoint
issue.

The SharePoint Health Analyzer detected a condition requiring your attention. Drives are at risk of running out of free space.
Available drive space is less than five times the value of physical memory. This is dangerous because it does not provide enough room for a full memory dump with continued operation. It also could cause problems with the Virtual Memory swap file:
(SERVERNAME- C:\).
Examine the failing servers and delete old logs or free space on the drives. For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=142688".

I have a form that was imported from a PDF document in Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2. I added a 3 of 9 barcode and the Default value is the form number (*1.764903.105NFS*). I do not want a user to be able to click on the barcode, so I made it Read Only. When this form is opened in Adobe Acrobat, I'm not able to click on the barcode, however, when this form is opened in Adobe Reader, I'm able to click on the barcode and the value displays (the form number) - which is what I do NOT want to happen. I have added Adobe Reader Extensions and I'm opening the form in Adobe Reader 9.4 and Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0.
Also having the same barcode issue with forms that are designed in LC Designer.you can verify your selectionListener event by creating your own custom selection listener
public void mySelectionListener(SelectionEvent selectionEvent) {
FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
String me = "#{bindings.myViewObject1.collectionModel.makeCurrent}"
MethodExpression myMethodExpr = fc.getApplication().getExpressionFactory().createMethodExpression(fc.getELContext(),me, null, new Class[] {SelectionEvent.class});
myMethodExpr.invoke(fc.getElContext(), new Object[] {selectionEvent});
RowKeySet rwKeySet = selectionEvent.getAddedSet();
and in your jspx <af:table selectionListener="#{package1.view.backing_myBackingBean.mySelectionListener}"/>
by that way you can atlest verify whats wrong... ,hope this helps, -
Is it possible to have access to PU12 in read only to avoid SOD issues?
Hi
We would like to provide PU12 to a small number of users for troubleshooting purposes with our payroll interface, however PU12 transaction is one that is a SOD issue, namely: 'Modify payroll master data and then process payroll. Potential for fraudulent activity'
Is there an equivalent read only transaction that SAP has to view the export history data possibly, or else a way to change the settings of PU12 to make it read only via a custom tcode?
Any advice would be very helpful.
Thanks
NicolaHi,
Make the variant of the screen and provide the separate Tcode using SE93.
Good Luck

Folks,
Using EPM 2007 with SP2
I have about 4 PM's that are having read only issue with some of their projects, this has just started to happen in the last month or so.
I have sat with them and have gone over their save / checkin method and cannot find fault with what they are doing. As the Admin I can access, update checkin / out etc no problems.
Checking in the "Clean Up Cache" the projects are registering "Not checked out". In the "Open Folder" they have a Cache Status of Checkin Pending.
Any suggestion greatly appreciated
Many thanks
NoelHi Sujit
Apologies for the delay, as per your direction all good now
Regards
Noel
