Issues restoring images

Is anyone else having a error when trying to restore from a image in disk utility? I get a error that the source image needs to be imagescanned before proceeding.

I had the same problem. Booted from a Snow Leopard disk and then I tried to restore an image created with SupperDuper. Then I got the imagescanned error. Selecting Images > Scan Image for Restore ... resulted in a checksum error.
To fix it I was able to select the image from list in Disk Utility on the left hand side and selected File > Open... from the top menu. This mounted the image and I dragged the mounted image to the source field which worked.

  • Creating Small Sized Restore Image

Hello all, I'm in the process of managing Macs for my company. Were using the Casper Suite by Jamf software for imaging (its very nice!). One thing were doing with all Macs is creating a Restore partition that will hold a slimmed down version of the OS. When booted to the Restore partition it will launch the imaging tool that will apply an image from the server to the other partition.
That being said, I want the Restore Image to be as small as possible, currently it is 9 GB. We would like it to be less than 8 so our deploy techs can have this image on a flash drive (16 GB flash drives are rather expensive).
Obviously I removed the languages and print drivers. I cleaned out most of the applications leaving the utilities folder and a few other essentials. The speech items are not necessary either.
So...What else can be removed while still maintaining a functional machine? We are currently deploying 10.5 company wide (until PGP fully supports 10.6).
    Thank you all!

No clue to this specific issue... but I've had some strange results with placing back a Windows template (image dump) I had originally created with ESX 3.5. The image looked ok but would not boot.
I managed booting it by chucking the guest configuration (keeping the disk), creating a new custom vm machine using the (older) version 5 type vm configuration.
    Could be that helps?
If the image boots you can update the configuration to version 7 by shutting down the vm, right clicking and choosing upgrade hardware.
    Just a thought,

  • Creating a restore image on an external drive with package install options

    Hi,
I'm looking to use a combination of tools maybe Deploy Studio, System Image Utility etc to create an image that isn't Netbooted but rather on an external drive (a fast Thunderbolt raid enclosure) - a restorable image which will contain OSX setup with all the essential applications my users require.
That bit is fairly easy using some clone software but I want to do a couple more things. I need to create a Bootcamp partition on the computer and I want this all to be as hands off as possible. I've looked at Winclone in which I can create a Bootcamp clone and even put it in a deployable package file which in theory will create the partition and restore the clone when run.
Ideally id be able to make a restore image that boots, restores and also gives me package options, allowing me to chose the Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 package file in the image to deploy and also whether to deploy another package file which will include 3 optional applications for the user depending on their choice. If I was allowed at restore to decide which packages if any should be run id be able to create one single restore image.
Does anyone know if this possible?

Found the answer. It was formatted for Windows.

  • Need help diagnosing cause of printing issue w/ image distortion

Hello, I'm looking for some expert advice for my print issue with image distortion (see above) on my files once setup and proofed by my printer.
I have a large PSD background file out of photoshop (CMYK, 170mb psd) that is being placed into an InDesign document. No preflight errors, all correct SWOP cmyk settings, and I keep having issues where images distort on my printers proofs - they seem unable to explain the issue and can't offer any other suggestions beyond ("just try resaving/uploading again" which of course has an added fee with each upload...).
The files are all fine on our end: on-screen, on our cmyk proofs, and our saved PDFs/packaged files. But everytime our printer opens these they seem to have these distorted image problems - scrambled images (almost as if there was a ghosted transparent image in the distorted area), strange lines (see above, and color distortion (usually greens and pinks, see above).
Is this an issue with my settings/file formats? Maybe the issue lies on our printers end? I'll keep checking this throughout the day and provide quick answers to anyone who can help me get to the bottom of this.
Adobe forums have been a huge help in years past so I decided this was by best bet for a resolution from those who know more than myself (or my printer), thanks for taking the time to help!

  • Netbook Mini 110-3830NR How do I create a restore image on a flash drive

I have a HP Mini 110-3830NR Netbook running Windows 7 Starter.
I want to create a restore image to original factory state.
The user manual recommends that I create a restore disk.
It further states that to create a restore image on a USB device, I need at least
    a 16GB device.
Therefore I purchased a Hp v165 16GB flash drive that actually contains
    14.8 GB of user space.
I could not find the correct info about creating the disk on the HP support
web site so I chatted with an HP Support technician. She eventually gave me
a link to a procedure that would create a restore disk for me.
Then she said I needed a 32gb flash drive !!
Is the user manual or the technician correct ??
    Can I use the 16GB (14.8 actual), or must I buy a 32 GB flash drive ??
    Thank You   fljim

I would just try to create it, the recovery creator should tell you at some point if it is big enough or not, orignally 8gb was big enough for most W7 system's HP sold, but as time passed they had to upgrade the size recommendation to 32gb.
the 16gb should be large enough for your model.
This HP document says al least 8gb minimum, use 16gb for best results, very confusing, I agree

  • Accesibility Issues with Image element

    Hi All,
I've image element inside a table column. Image used is '~Icon/RedLed'.
Image source and tool tip are bound properly.
But we are facing an accessibility issue in this.
When accessibility mode is set to X, image tool tip reads as
'Image - Unavailable - Error Exist - Row 6 column Status'
where 'Error Exist' is the tooltip we are providing.
The problem is with 'Unavailable' word which is also coming up.
Also, Image is also rendered, so there is no issue like image path is not found therefore Unavailable word is comin.
Does anyone have any clue why this could be comnig up.
    Regards

  • Issues with Images when used w/ Caption Widget & Book File Size Q

    Hi Everyone,
I was having issues with images not showing up and determined it was the caption widget causing the issue. I now have one of two issues happening consistently. Either the image does not show at all or just the caption box with bkgd gray and caption text shows, but without the image.
    Anyone else have this issue?
Ay ideas would be greatly appreciated. I wasw just about finished with this project when this started!
Also, the size of the book is considerably larger than I realized. It is 81 mb. . . How does this compare to any of your books?
    THANKS SO MUCH!
    Belinda

    Belinda,
I can't speak to your main issue, as I cannot recreate the problem over here.
As a guess, have you checked to make sure you're not running out of harddrive space? iBA can consume space quickly, and behaves oddly when it begins to run out of room.
But as far as filesize goes, I can only wish for an 81 MB book. Mine is currently a little over 2 GB and growing. Tonight I had to split it into 2 volumes just so iBooks Author can run at a reasonable pace. I was getting tired of waiting 1-2 minutes after dragging a video around on the page before I could get control of the program again.
You should note that Apple is expecting large filesizes for this new Multi-Touch format. The docs on iTunesConnect say the largest allowed upload size for a book is 16GB 2BG (see link below)

  • Hotspot behavior: restore image onMouseOut to previously-selected states?

I have an image map and am using hotspots-linked events to trigger the swap image action.
For example, imagine a map of Canada:
The image map consists of a map of the entire country.  Each state/image (Fireworks state, that is) has an image showing an individual province in a different color than the rest of the country.  There is one hotspot for each province on the map, and it covers only that province on the map.
Each hotspot has the behavior such that at the event onClick, swap image occurs to the state/image representing the underlying province.  "Restore image onMouseOut," is disabled.
State/Image 1 is a map of Canada with no province selected.
So now you have a map of Canada, and when you click on any one province, that province changes color.
That's great, but I want more:
Let's say I click on British Colombia and it changes color.  Using a mouseover, I would like to be able to preview my future choices of other provinces.  I would like to be able to mouse mouse over Alberta, and see the state/image where Alberta is highlighted, but reset onMouseOut to my previous selection, which was British Columbia.
In other words, I would like a simple mouse-over that restores at onMouseOut to the state/image that was previously defined by the action onClick.
My problem is that Fireworks only appears to only allow "restore image onMouseOut" to take you back to State/Image 1.
Are my wishes beyond the capabilities of Fireworks?
Thanks in advance for any advice/instruction anyone might have!

Yes, your wishes are beyond the capabilities of Fireworks. At least the default image swapping.
This can be done in JavaScript, but you'd have to learn how to write/modify the code. Start with the mouseover code that's in Dreamweaver and go from there.

  • Sql 2008 Issue restoring transaction logs....

** Update: I performed the same steps on the corresponding Dev and things worked as expected. Only  our prod environment uses SnapManager for Sql (NetApp) and I'm beginning to suspect that may be behind this issue
Restored a full backup of the prod MyDB from 1/23/2014 in non-operational mode (so trans logs can be added). Planned to apply trans log dumps from 1/24/2014, 7am (our first of the day) to noon. But applying the 7am trans dump gave this error:
    >>>>>
Restore Failed for this Server... the Log in this backup set begins at....which is too recent to apply to the database. An earlier log backup that includes LSN....can be restored.
    >>>>>
That message is clear but I don't understand it in this case as the full DB dump was taken Thursday night and the tran logs I am trying to restore are all from Friday.
    TIA,
    edm2

    ** Update 2 **
I kept checking and am now definitely think that the NetApp SnapManager for Sql product (which is a storage based, not sql based, approach to DR) is the culprit. My view of the world was that a Full Sql Database backup is performed at 7pm and the
Sql translogs are dumped every hour beginning at 7:15am the next day.  This extract from the SnapManager log indicates quite a different story. It takes a full database backup at 11pm (!) that night followed by a translog backup.
No wonder, when I try to restoring things using Sql utilities it doesn't work. BTW: I have no idea where SnapManager's dumps are stored.

Sorry I wasn't clearer. The Full database backups was taken on 1/23/2014 at 7pm. The trans logs I was trying to restore were from the next day (starting 1/24/2014 at 7:15am, 8:15am, etc.).   I could not find any Sql translog dumps taken after
the full backup (at 7pm) until the next morning's  trans dumps (which start at 7:15am). Here is what I did:

Regarding my update note,  the SnapManager for SQL product (which I was tolds simply uses VSS) runs every hour throughout the night. That's why I wondering if it could be interfering with the transaction log sequence.

  • No ,restore image factory, windows 7 bits

hello, I hope you can help me carry my qosmio x-q887 a local technician, and is a network problem that I have it solved, no thanks to him, but I reinstall the OS, I do not like, try to restore image box but the command (or) does not work and I get a red screen windows7 loader, and factory reset my OS by other means? thanksory

    You're welcome!
If you find the one that's causing the problem, Google the KB number and see if anyone else has had a problem with it, and what they did to fix it. Odds are, missing one update is not going to put your system at serious risk.
I would imagine that if there are enough logged complaints about an update, there would be an updated update (like that :-)? ) some time in the future. It has happened before. I wouldn't put too much stock in Microsoft monitoring these forums closely, but
I'm sure they must have something in place alerting them of a mass of particular problem posts.
I can't comment on the "Jumpstart wireless filter adapter" setting since I don't have that option on my laptop's wireless adaptor properties.

  • Issue restoring pre-sysprep image

    Hello,
I'm having a bit on an issue with creating a pre-sysprepped base image with Windows 8.1. I've created my base installation, made all the changes and upload an image before I run the sysprep. Now when I restore this image after sysprepping to get back to all the changes I've made and edit it some more it boots into Windows fine but always creates a "dump"-user (Administrator.MACHINENAME) and not using the original Administrator account.
Very irritating as I have to go back to my first install and re-do all my changes everytime I need to do a sysprep.
Anyone know a way out of this?
