Issues "seeing" PC

I have a few macs, and a PC. On my intel iMac, which is connected to my home network via an ethernet cable, I can see the PC in devices in Finder, and exchange files with it. However, on my iBook and old iMac, which are connected to the network via airport, cannot see the PC, but they can see all the other macs. Is it possible to make them see it? I think it may be a problem with airport. Is there a fix?

Changing the Airport to Bridge mode fixed the problem.

MacBook Pro 2008 display issue (see the photo)

As you can see in the picture below, my 15" MBP Early 2008 started to experience this kind of issue. Sometimes it goes away if I close the lid or with a restart. I've already tried the PRAM reset with no long-term results.
My Mac had the nvidia 8600M GT issue so I got the logic board replaced. At the Apple Store the technician said this problem has nothing to do with the video card... maybe the display? Anyway, I'd like to have your opinion about this and some possible solutions.

What you've pictured is a disaply backlight LED problem — it looks as though half of yours aren't lit. They're integrated into the LCD panel, and this issue is not related in any way to the replacement of your logic board. You may want to reset your computer's SMC and see whether that resolves the problem:

If it doesn't, I'm afraid you're in for another repair, and this one will be on your dime unless you still have a little AppleCare coverage left.

Issues seeing database tables in DW CS5

Hello, I'm writing PHP pages to manage, create new, edit and delete rows in some tables in a mySQL database I've created.
I've connected successfuly and see all 5 tables in the database tab
However, of the five tables in the database when I click on and expand the tables in the database tab only two show the rows that are set up.
On the tables with the row information I can get and place data with no issue.
On the tables without the row information I can pull data but not place new or update the rows.
Any ideas?

JavaDoc issue: @see tags not displaying properly

I am having a very odd issue that I cannot seem to figure out. I am trying to add the following lines to a comment on a specific method:

My problem is, when the html is generated...it shows

I have both the J2SE and J2EE documentation linked so that these are linked to the source api on sun's site. When I click on MimeMessage it does send me to the setSubject() method within the MimeMessage class. So why does it not show MimeMessage.setSubject(java.lang.String)? Instead it just shows the class name. And why does Properties.getProperty(java.lang.String) properly show on the documentation but the MimeMessage class does not show the specific method it is linking to?

</target>It is just really odd that the classes within the j2se docs are displaying correctly whereas the j2ee classes are not. The j2see classes link correctly and point to the correct methods when you click on them. They just aren't displaying correctly as you see above with the 4 MimeMessage classes and the Session, Transport, etc.

Slow web browsing, 'all' else ok -- now madwifi issues (see 4th post)

I'm at a loss, and not sure where to go next with my troubleshooting.
Both Firefox and Elinks are very slow to find the web page (DNS?), but then loads it seemingly ok. Like 3-10 seconds slow. I can't download Firefox extensions at all, I get a bunch of certificate and download errors. Other networked apps are fine, like pacman operations, pings, and bittorrent (I think, that's tough to gauge).
I had an install of Arch a few weeks ago that worked fine in this regard, and other Distros recently as well. The last arch kernel I used at the time was 2.6.26.1. This is on a Lenovo X61s with Intel gigabit and Atheros 5212 wireless, both interfaces experience the problem. Nobody else on the network experiences it, and we're all using OpenDNS.
So since I don't have much invested, I do a quick reinstall without the testing repo, and all is the same. My router has issues with ipv6, so that's disabled, but it's the same deal if I remove the module from the blacklist. I've tried disabling syncookies, and the fix for the window scaling issue.
I'll see how it works on the school network tomorrow, and post some confs once I get X back up and running (yes, I'm sure my hostname is configured properly in rc.conf and hosts). But until then, does anyone have any ideas?
I really hope I can get this working, I just can't get comfortable with anything but Arch.

I'm fairly sure my wireless is configured correctly (I connect using wifi-radar). I've gone through the Arch Optimisation guides a number of times to check for any unwitting errors in my config files & I'm going to go through the optimisation/config guides again in hopes of spotting something I can tweak. I don't believe it's a DNS issue either at this point.
I've also tried using axel from the command line and a new-ish rapidshare download GUI I found called Linux Rapidshare Grabber (python/curl) and the problem remains the same with both of them. It's not so noticable in firefox except during the stalled periods, when even spartan webpages take a while before loading. But when trying to download a file of any size the difference between Arch and Wolvix/Windows is significant.
It would be interesting to find out if this is a madwifi driver problem with certain atheros cards (the madwifi version on Wolvix is older, from slackware 11.0), or if it's just some simple configuration error on my part. If I ever figure out what I'm doing wrong I'll be sure to post it here for anyone else who might have the same problem.
PS. modrapi & rapidshare grabber are only any use to people with premium Rs accounts. They won't help you to download any better/faster from rapidshare as a free user.

Having issues seeing public folders in Exchange 2013.

We have an multi-tenant Exchange 2013 environment and are currently trying to set up up Public Folders for use with one of our tenants.
I have created the primary public folder mailbox and then created a public folder for the Tenant and assigned the necessary permissions to user account I would like to access the folder from (in this case "owner" permissions). However I cannot
see the public folder from Outlook. This is the case with both Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2013. I have made sure I am in the folder view (Cntrl + 6) but I see no public folders to speak of. I am able to log into OWA and add the public folder
to the favourite list by right clicking and selecting "add public folder", I am also able to access the public folders using a third party mobile app for iPhone called "Public Folders". I've also tried creating completely new profiles
in both versions of Outlook but I cannot see the public folders that way either.
We are currently using a third party wildcard certificate with our multi-tenant environment, not sure if that would have an impact on what we are doing here but thought I'd throw that in just in case.

HT201317 issues seeing all photos when transfering from iphone5 to pc/mac

I'm having issues transferring photos from my iphone5 to pc/mac. I have over 200 photos on my phone however when I go to transfer only the last 20 or so photos are visible to transfer. why is this the case? it was working ok before now I cannot access all my photos from the computer. please help!

Whenever you plug in your iPhone to your Mac with iPhoto installed, iPhoto will automatically open up a screen giving you the option to download the photos in your iPhone...At least that's how it's set up in my computer. But I believe that's for photos taken by the iPhone.
Besides what said above, there is a iPhone Transfer Column which includes the tutorial about How to transfer photo/pictures from iPhone to Mac.

CS3 Color Issue-seeing Green

All my images have a green cast to them in PS CS3 & Bridge
My monitor is calibrated
Images are fine in other applications, just not photoshop
This issue started after a disk crash and was installed on a new hard disk.
We have uninstalled it once and ran the clean up utility since then.
Issue still exist and happens in multiple profiles

Your display profile changed, or you changed the whitepoint on the display.
Make sure that your display profile actually matches your display, and it should all be good again.

Issue with podcast v2.0 app seeing synced podcasts

Hi Everyone,
I would be extremely grateful if someone could explain an issue I am facing with using the new Podcast v2.0 app on my recently upgraded iphone 4S IOS 7.0.4
I am using iTunes 11.1.3.8 on a windows 7 x64 machine. I have lectures, speeches etc (which I like to listen at 2x speed) that are in mp3 format from different websites etc that I download to my PC. I add them to iTunes and change the "Media Kind" from Music to Podcast within iTunes, I have no problems applying this process, the categories & titles appear in the podcast menu and are synced perfectly fine onto my iphone 4S IOS 5.0.1. I was naturally using the standard music app to listen to the podcasts and I was happy.
I have now updated my iphone 4S to 7.0.4 and have added the podcast app to listen to the podcasts. I do exactly the same process as I have detailed above, I have no issues, I can even see the numerous titles in their seperate podcasts listed under the podcast menu under my iphone in iTunes - so they have been physically synced over to the iphone. The problem is in the new podcast app, I only have one podcast with one title listed, (the newest one) all the other podcasts & titles are not shown anywhere. If I listen to the only title available to the end and then resync my iphone, I realise that the actual title played was the oldest one in iTunes. (not the newest as listed in the app) When I listen to the same & only listed podcast in the app (always the newest one) it is actually the second oldest title that is playing (according to iTunes)
So obviously I assume the podcast v2.0 app is a lot stricter with or it needs additional requirements to be applied to an mp3 file in order that they are show up correctly in the app apart from simply changing the media kind in iTunes (which worked perfectly fine before in IOS 6 & below)
My questions (sorry to take so long to get to them) are, does anyone know what those requirements are? can I apply them to the mp3 files within iTunes or do I need to use 3rd party software to modify/add them so the podcast app will see these manual podcasts?
I hope someone can you help me out with this one as I really enjoy listening to podcasts and feel that my user experience would be greatly hampered if the limit to the availability of podcasts is only to those who have published on itunes or offer subscriptions. The ability to add podcasts manually and have them synced via iTunes is always available so surely it is only a matter of properly formatting, labelling and adding the correct tags to the files so they show up in the podcast app.

To confirm, changing the genre to "podcast" has no effect on displaying the entire list of titles or other podcasts in the podcast app. I beleive the app to have a serious bug.
I can see all the titles in spotlight search, I can search by title name or even artist name and they appear, so clearly they are available in the iphone. Another major issue is I can't play them in the podcast app. I can select one from spolight and the podcast app loads however it always play the same title that is playing, it won't chnage to the title I selected.
Another oddity (bug) is I can delete the one and only title that is listed in the podcast app and it will delete it - the title name does not change however the podcast itself changes to the next one on the list. I can keep deleting them one by one. the title remains the same but the contents of the podcast is the next one after next one as it goes down the list. So the app is not able to pick up & display the numerous titles even though it can play them.
I can change the media kind to either Audiobook or iTunesU and the mp3 files are successfully listed in both the music app or ITunesU app respectively and I have no issues seeing them all, playing them or syncing them. only issue with itunesU is can't increase to 2x speed, it says only at 1x
There really are some major flaws with the the podcast app v2.0. I will add a new ticket to the apple bugreport site for developers concerning these issues.

ITunes 10.6.1.7 wont see iPad 2 or 3gs both 5.1 on Windows 7/64

I just bought an ipad2 and I updated to iTunes 10.6.1.7 before attaching to my pc. Itunes wont see the ipad or now my 3gs that it use to have no issue seeing. My windows vista pc/itunes sees both iphone/ipad fine so it must be this pc or itunes. I also tried different cables and usb ports with no change. I updated the vista pc to the 10.6.1.7 iTunes and it sees both ipad/iphone fine.
Why doesnt my windows 7/64bit pc see anything all of a sudden?
How do I fix this? Do I really have to uninstall/reinstall iTunes? Will I lose all my data and backups?

Which version of iTunes are you using? 9.0.1 fixes several Podcats issues - see this link for a news item:

Voicemail issue since changing network (UK)

Hi,
I've recently changed networks from o2 to Three. I had my iPhone unlocked from o2 and started using my SIM 600 card that i purchased in a Three store.
Initially i had no issue until i was left a voicemail. I soon realised that Three don't offer the visual voicemail facility, however this isn't the issue. On checking my voicemail and deleting it; i've now found that i constantly have the red dot icon (blank) over the voicemail tab on my "phone" app.
I've checked my voicemails and have the reply fromt he voicemail stating "you have no new messages." There is no facility to check to see if there are saved messages so i can delete them, so i presume i have none. I receive the standard text message stating i have voicemail when i reboot the phone, even though i have no voicemail on checking! I've also found that when i check, my iPhone keeps checking for email and also for App updates when i have Email set to Manual (not pushed or fetched) and i certainly ain't hit the App Store!
I've spoken to Three who said that there isn't an issue with the voicemail settings as its working however the technical customer advisor asked me to wait whilst he checked to see if there was anything else he could do to help me. On coming back he said that the tech department are investigating a potential issue to identify whether its a fault on the iPhone side or if its a fault on the Three side. My iPhone was working perfectly well with o2 and on removing the Three sim, and replacing it with another sim it worked perfectly well so i assume its Three's issue which is what i told him.
I've tried a soft reset, i've tried a full restore - setting it up as a new phone or with a backup, still remains. I've tried calling and leaving a voicemail to see if i can flush the system, but nothing. My colleague at work is on Three with the same iPhone, same iOS update etc etc and she doesn't have the issue so I'm bemused.
I read somewhere it could have something to do with the micro sim being an old and outdated sim - could this be the case?
I'm looking for people's help as i'm heading to the Three store on Saturday to request a new micro sim so wanting some bullets to fire when i get there...
If anyone can help, i'd be sincerely grateful!

Just as an update before i close the topic off...
Went into the Three store today and explained the situation to the same guy who sorted the contract out for me. He said he'd never come across it before and couldn't understand why it was happening.
I chanced my arm a little and although it was more or less the whole truth i'd bent the truth a little about the customer services number who didn't have a clue anyway and said that i'd done a bit digging on the internet and mentioned about the micro sim being outdated or something similar. He then offered to try it to sort the issue out, gave me a new micro sim and transferred my details over...got home and swapped the micro sims over.
Voila, icon vanished and no issues thus far...on looking a little closer on the packaging that the micro sim comes with, the initial one i had was from Aug 2011, the newer one was from October 2011 so it may be possible that the post i'd found from googling the issue was correct.
If the issue arises again i'll add to the topic, however so far so good - so i hope that others who may have this issue see this and try the above!

Hi everyone, I have been following this forum for a long time now but not posted previously.

Random reboots about twice a week.
Freeview randomly switches to menu view with a red banner warning that there is no broadband. This banner is only on for a few seconds. This has only started during the last software update.
Samsung TV will now not recognise the HDMI output without toggling through the AV inputs. Prior to the last couple of software updates you could get round this by switching the vision box on prior to the TV. On the classic software it didn't matter what was switched on first, I could immediately view vision through HDMI. (I'd be interested if anyone else is experiencing this or whether it is just a shortcoming with my TV)

Mac mini mid-2011 display issues 1920x1200 on a HDMI monitor?

Just puchased a mac mini and am challenged by the display settings. When I first powered it on using either a display port to HDMI or supplied hdmi to DVI (then the monitor's DVI to HDMI cable), the display is severly off center with issues seeing the system bar on top and icons on bottom. So, once I was able to get to the System Panel, I found that it configured itself to 1920x1200. I cannot get 1080p to center and 1080i has grainy text. Does this mean I need another apple accessory, ie display port to vga? Or is this an indicator that monitor and mac mini are incompatible? Or is this an indicator that the mac mini has a lemon card?

Your monitor has a native pixel resolution of 1920x1200. There is no point in trying for 1080-p or -i.
I run two 1920x1200 monitors via HDMI (with passive cable adapters where necessary) and I use these choices:
...and they are both pixel-sharp, filling the screen, and yet menu bars totally visible!
