Issues setting up email account on Q10 from pop server

I have been a huge BB supporter & now that I have gone from my reliable Bold to a Q10 I am rethinking my loyalty.
My Shaw email set up no problem - my work not so much.
I have read all sorts of things on the forums that say others have the same problems. I thought it was resolved when I went into my old BB & deleted the account from there. I was able to add it to the Q10 but within 3 hours it disappeared!! I have tried settng it up again & get the same response the server is not responding.
Is there a fix??? My provider & internal IT folks dont have a clue.
Also, I see comments on here about actually speaking to BB support - how do I reach them??
Thanks

  • Having issue setting up email account on the iphone.

having issue setting up email account on the iphone.  Going into settings mail, contacts, calendars...it goes back to the welcome screen.  How do I delete all email accounts and set up from scratch?

I was having the exact same issue.  It was driving me crazy.  Just as a fluke, I tried logging in to my wife's account on the verizon.net website to se if I had a bad password or something.  As soon as I logged in on my computer, her account verified & installed on her iphone.  I have no idea why, but it worked.

  • Can not set up email account on Q10

Click through the add account set up, enter email address.  Add password.  On to gmail access the account, password again, click done then..."at this time your email account can't be added.  Please try again later." I have tried many, many times.  I want to buy an iphone.

Is that the exact and complete content of the error message? I suspect not, for when I search on that in the public KB database, there are far too many hits to figure out which may apply. You should probably search on the exact error here:
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/microsite.do
See if perhaps there is a relevant article. You can also try searching on things like BB10 GMail Configuration Error, or something similar, to see if you can find a relevant article.
Also, is this free GMail or paid Google Apps? If free GMail, did you first integrate the account as EAS to this device prior to time when Google cut that off? If not, then you can only use IMAP for configuration, and may also need to beware of whatever authentication levels (1 or 2 step) you have configured on your Google account. Further, you need to be sure you allow GMail to face IMAP to the Internet...you control what GMail faces for free accounts, either POP IMAP or both...I recommend disabling POP and only allowing IMAP to be enabled.
Beyond that, what exact OS are you on please?
Article ID: KB23393 How to check the model number and version of the operating system on a BlackBerry smartphone
Please note carefully that "Software Release" is NOT the number I am requesting. Depending on the age of your device OS, it could well be that you have an older OS with issues that have been resolved with later OS levels.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Change email account on iPad from pop to imap

How do I change an pop email account to a imap account so that iMac and iPad can access mail server at same time without getting a (server not responding) error message.

Im not sure that will solve your problem, but if you want to try, go at it.  Your provider needs to support imap.  Gmail and yahoo do.  Comcast does not.  If yous does, probablymthe easiestmthing to do is delete the account entirely from your padd, then re add it, this time picking imap.  If you have it set up on the mac the same way, you might need to do the same thing there.
Post back if that solves your problem.   I have never gotten that particular error, running a pop account on a mac and the pad.  Mys spousemgets the error from time to time on her imap account.  I attribute that to the really poor service that yahoo folks need to put up with.

  • Horrible, irresponsible default setting for Thunderbird re: deleting mail from POP server

Yesterday I downloaded and booted an ISO of Linux Mint 16 because I was curious about the current state of Linux and whether it would make sense to finally switch from Windows. The OS booted and ran without any major issues and seemed generally well-polished.
Then I ran Thunderbird and did a quick setup of my POP3 e-mail account (provided by GoDaddy) using the default configuration, which I assumed would be appropriately configured for someone who wanted to give Thunderbird a test-run. I waited a few minutes while Thunderbird downloaded all the e-mail messages from GoDaddy's server and then I spent some time poking around with the program. Seemed fine.
Unfortunately, I did not realize until after rebooting my system into Windows that Thunderbird was configured by default to delete all my e-mail messages from the server upon download, and I was shocked to find that I could no longer access my old messages via my Android phone. That's several months worth of important e-mails that Thunderbird unceremoniously wiped from my mail server without so much as a warning.
This is a horribly irresponsible way to configure Thunderbird's default settings and I'm sure I'm not the only person who has gotten burned in this manner. Needless to say it has soured me not just on Thunderbird but on Linux in general as a desktop OS. As an attorney I frequently need to review previously-read e-mail messages in my account and your mail client's default settings have caused me a major inconvenience. I strongly suggest that you alter Thunderbird's default configuration to leave downloaded messages on the server in order to avoid upsetting users in the future.

Thank you for your suggestions, but I had booted Mint directly from the DVD and had not installed it. I was simply testing it out. Thunderbird was remarkably easy to configure - I just gave it my e-mail address, name, and password and it figured out the rest. But nowhere did it indicate that it would remove downloaded messages from my mail server by default, hence my shock and dismay.
I sincerely hope that somebody within Mozilla will acknowledge that this is a problem and change the default settings.

  • POP email account on Q10

I cannot add a second email account which is a POP all the information is correct according to my provide but it keep telling me that the account is not available

    Hi mcklee,
After testing this on my own device, I've managed to get the same errors with my Telus POP account. I was finally able to get it set up using the server settings located in the following link, but outgoing emails would not send, even when I was connected to my Telus home internet.
    http://telus.com/content/help/internet/email/article.jsp?categoryId=windows-8&subcategoryId=howto&ar...
So it would appear that this is indeed an issue with the BlackBerry 10.1 OS. I will see if I can get additional assistance for this.
In the meantime, I did try setting up my account via IMAP as well, and I was unable to replicate the issue where the messages are getting marked as unread as soon as they come in. My suggestion for that is to delete the account from the device, restart your Q10, then try to add the account back again.
And here is one final suggestion, which is partially the route I took with my own Telus email account. Create a new Hotmail or Outlook.com account, then set up send/receive privileges to your Telus email account. This will allow you access to your Telus email account and will show messages as coming from your Telus email address, but in reality, everything will go through the Outlook.com servers. Once you have your new Hotmail/Outlook.com email account set up, go to More Mail Settings (under the gear icon menu), then Your Email Accounts and Add a Send and Receive Email account. Once you have this all set up, set that as your Default "From" Address and that is the email address people will see when you send emails from your phone. You can then set it up on all of your devices using your new Hotmail/Outlook.com credentials.
I hope that makes sense, but please ask if you have any questions. And I will see what else I can find out re the original POP issue.

  • How to set up email account for 9360

    Hello,
I have problem on setting up my email account.. I have a hotmail account but I can't access it through my blackberry. At first I tried to set it up via set up-email account etc but I couldn't. Then I opened my browser, clicked on communication and then integrate hotmail but the stage doesn't''t open at all.It appears the message unknown error, please try again. Can anyone help me???

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
It's a pity that all we have to go on is "but I couldn't"...error messages and step by step of what you try and what happens can be much more helpful in diagnosis. But, from what you describe, it sounds like you don't have an adequate BB-level data plan from your mobile service provider...so I recommend you ring them up (vodafone, according to your profile entry here) to sort this out.
    Good luck!

  • Issues with an email account

I have successfully set up email accounts on iPhones and iPad on Exchange and Gmail servers.
However, I am frustrated not being able to send messages from a POP account. I am able to receive messages, but when I send a meesage, I get the response: "Cannot send mail. The recipient xxx.com was rejected by the server". This happens for every outgoing email address I try. I have had detailed discussions with the service provider on Outgoing server settings but they are stumped as well. Tried Outgoing servers as "mail.xxx.com" or "smtp.xxx.com" and even a specific IP address that the web server hosting call centre gave me. Nothing works - and I have tried it on iPhone5s, 4s, 3 and iPad. Every time, I get the same error; so I am not able to send any emails from any Apple device from this account. I even tried setting it up as an IMAP account, but I get the same issue i.e. able to recveive emails, but cannot send any email.
However, I am able to send/receive from my other Exchange and Gmail accounts using the same Apple devices. Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Shubha

Check the parameters in your email account against what is recommended by your email provider.
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > account
Have you contacted the support contact at your email provider?

    3. then try and register them on your phone. it should work.

5 to make hot mail work you could use the hotmail app found in your text messing folder or download it from the ovi store.

My email account has disappeared from my iphone4. No longer listed. Tried to set up new email account but now won't accept my user name and or password.

Finally went to the Apple shop where a nice young man explained that I had to use the original password not the recently changed password - case sensitive too - and finally have installed the updated Adobe Flash player with no shaking! Maybe this helps you too. JL

  • How do I set up email accounts to send emails while travelling overseas using various wifi locations?

How do I set up email accounts to send and receive
emails while travelling overseas using various wifi locations?

Many ISP provided email accounts limit connections to their outgoing SMTP email servers to only connections coming from their own network. So, if you try to send email when not connected to their network (i.e. when not at home), the connection will be rejected.
If you are using an ISP provided email address, in these circumstances, you'll need to ask your ISP if they provide an "authenticated SMTP connection" so that you can send email via their SMTP server when not actually accessing the internet via their network. You'll need to enter your email account username and password in the Outgoing SMTP server settings and possible configure SSL or outgoing port numbers. Your ISP will be able to advise on this though, as the exact setting vary between ISPs.
By far the best solution though, is to use an email account that is not tied to any particular ISP, such as a GMail account, as these can be used from anywhere, on any network and provide authenticated SMTP as standard.

  • How do you set your email account

How do you set your email account

if this is your first email account you're adding to your iPod tough, go to the mail app. you'll have choices of what mail server you have. i think windows live mail isn't an option, so go to "other" and go from there by filling your email, name, and password. Im pretty sure thats about it. i use gmail so that was pretty easy.

  • Moved to France and Now Can't Set Up Email Accounts

I have a Blackberry Curve 8520.  When I was living in Canada, I was able to register my gmail email account to receive emails on my phone.  I have now moved to France, and when I access the Setup Wizard to add my email accounts, the option to add my private email account has disappeared.  I only have the option to add a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server.  How can I add my private email account?

    Hi lvu
This sounds like your provider in France has not setup the correct BlackBerry data plan for you.  It appears you have their Enterprise Plan, however, you will need their Prosumer plan to setup personal email via BIS.
    Thanks
