Issues syncing music, etc. to my iPhone

I run Windows 7(SP1), iTunes 12.0.1.26, iPhone 5s (iOS 8.1.2)
Since the update to iTunes 12, I have been unable to add/remove music & homemade ringtones to my phone.  When I am able to do so, it's usually after a week (or more) of trying.  I typically add music by "drag & drop" and even that's a headache as I often have to disconnect and reconnect and close/reopen iTunes several times to get it to work.  And removing any of it is an entirely  matter.  I cannot simply delete it from my phone by highlighting the track(s) and pressing delete.  Nor can I uncheck the track(s) in my Library, remove it(them) from the corresponding Playlist, and then Syncing my iPhone.  This has gone on for weeks and I am at wit's end trying to figure it out. Does anyone have any ideas?  To borrow a phrase the kids of today: I just can't even.
(Of course it doesn't help that every version of iTunes for Windows I have used frequently freezes up and I have to end the process via the Task Manager.)

Before anyone would be able to provide any troubleshooting steps, you would need to describe what "issues" means. Try describing your problem in detail, as well as what troubleshooting you have already tried before posting your question here. That way no one is wasting your time by asking you to perform steps that you have already taken.

I read your entire message, and my mom's iPhone 5 does this exact same thing. When the idiot at the AT&T store transferred her data (well, most of it) to her new phone, he DID NOT use her latest iCloud backup like he should have, but used some features in "Bump" to move things across. So, in my opinion, it's not worth the hassle of restoring it as a new device as Tim suggests. That's just the easy answer. Here's something odd about hers. It seems to do this, when she's using her bluetooth earpiece (a Jawbone Icon), but not when she's got bluetooth disabled on the iPhone 5 and holding down the "Home" button to activate Siri. If she uses her Jawbone bluetooth earpiece to activate Siri, the answer that Siri presents on the phone's screen will only stay on for about five seconds, then dim, then go blank -- and she has to "swipe to unlock" and, of course, the Siri information is gone. Not so if she uses the Home key to activate Siri.

  • Issue Syncing Music to iPhone

I'm posting in this forum because after searching off and on since the iPhone 6 released, I haven't been able to find a fix and I know I'm one of many who are experiencing this issue. I purchased my iPhone 6 (128GB, Verizon) on launch day and since then I've had the same issue syncing my music to my iPhone from iTunes on my PC (first iTunes 11, now iTunes 12). I always keep my devices and iTunes up to date, so I know that is not the issue.
The issue is, when I try to sync my music to my phone (I have roughly 50GB of music) it will sync most of it, but not all. When I check my phone, some of the music is there and some is missing artwork that should be there. When I try to resync, it gets stuck on the last step and either takes music off or continues to show the music, but if I try and play a song it'll skip to the next working song. Syncing a second time DOES NOT WORK. I've tried restoring my phone, and that works for the first sync. But if I try to sync it again some other time when I've added more music to my library it removes some of the music once again. This is extremely annoying because not only do I have to either restore my phone or clear all music through General > Usage but I have to also wait half an hour for all of my music to sync. And even when I get it all to sync, I can't add anymore music except for music purchased directly on the iPhone.
I'm pretty sure there isn't a fix for this, but have any of you guys found something that worked for you? When will Apple fix this issue?

iTunes 12.1 is very unstable, as is iOS 8. There are just bugs with music management and syncing, simple as that. I have run into a number of issues, especially since 12.1. Music doesn't sync over at all, the device's library gets corrupted, album art disappears, etc.
A quick glance around these forums shows that a large number of people are having the same problems. iTunes and iOS are just extremely buggy, and our only recourse is to wait for software fixes.

  • 8.1 won't sync Music purchases from my iPhone back to my iTunes Library

I have run into three issues since installing iTunes 8.1.
The first was the problem syncing Calendar data which many other folks have reported and which I resolved by setting iTunes to overwrite the Calendar on my iPhone at the next sync.
The second is that I have purchased songs from the iTunes Music Store app on my iPhone and iTunes 8.1 doesn't seem to discover these songs during the sync process and they don't get copied into the iTunes library on my Mac. I never had a problem with this before in iTunes 8.0. The only thing that's changed is installing v8.1. So I currently have no way of backing up any tracks purchased on my iPhone.
The third issue is that syncing with my iPhone is generally more sluggish then it was in iTunes 8.0 - it takes longer to sync and the progress information in iTunes on my Mac is out of step (the spinning progress wheel next to my iPhone in the Devices pane disappears about 30 seconds before the progress at the top says that the sync has finished - in iTunes 8.0 these things happened at the same time which was reassuring).
Not being able to sync items purchased on my iPhone is a serious issue for me.
Does anyone know if I can revert to iTunes 8.0 safely (i.e. were any changes made to the iTunes library xml files or any supporting files in 8.1) - I have a Time Machine backup of my User Account from before the upgrade to 8.1 and I have only purchased a few tracks on my iPhone (not on my Mac) since.

I'm having the exact same problem with iTunes 8.1.1. I purchased one song from the iTunes Music Store app on my iPhone, now it won't sync (transfer) to iTunes on my iMac. Guess I need to downgrade too.

  • How to sync music back on to iphone 4 from iTunes library after restore

Troubleshooting (this may or may not work with other Apple devices)
Step 1: Select the music you want to sync to your iphone.
You may find some are missing (flagged). When you try to play it will let you try to locate it and hopefully it should still be on your pc. Luckily for those no longer on pc I had backups on USB drive which I pasted back into iTunes media folder. Always best to keep iTunes library music in the iTunes media folder.
Step 2: Click on your device and select the summary page.
Step 3: Scroll down to options page and make sure that the only thing ticked in the options box is 'syn only ticked music and videos'.
Step 4: Whilst still on your device, select the music page and tick sync music and entire library.
Step 5: Then click sync at the bottom of the page.
All music selected and not missing (location could not found) from your iTunes library should be synced to your iphone.

    Um, "slide"?
Have you tried going to this tab (see image)?
Then choose to "Sync Music" and then "Entire music library" or "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres."
Then remember to click the "Sync" button at the bottom right.

  • ITunes won't sync music video to my iPhone 3G

I purchased a music video from the iTunes store and it won't sync to my iPhone. What gives?

One thing that might help out.
When your iphone is connected, on the summary screen, is the iphone set to sync automatically?
If not, you might need to drag and drop your music videos to the iphone.
If it is set to sync automatically, then go to the music tab and make sure the box is checked to sync music videos.
If it is, try right clicking(control click) on the iphone on the left of itunes under devices and reset warnings.
Now try to sync again and see if any error messages come up.
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to sync music from PC to iPhone 5 after installing ISO8

I really hope someone can help me as I have been struggling for over 30 hours trying now (in between studying and sleeping). I have been using iTunes for years, and I regularly create new playlists and sync them.  Last weekend I installed ISO 8 and deleted some music off my iphone to create enough room.  After installing it I connected my iphone 5 to my PC using a usb lead, selected the tracks and playlists I wanted to sync and hit SYNC. It ran through the steps 1 to 4 as usual, but then instead of listing the tracks it was syncing at the top (like normal) it just finished, completed, but the tracks are not on my iphone. I have been doing this for years, I am not an expert but I know how to sync music, it is just not working and I really need the playlists for a dance project at college tomorrow.  I have received a couple of error messages, one stating "The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. The disk could not be read from or written to" and another about syncing error. I am really desperate, any suggestions would be most greatly appreciated.

  • Help, I can't sync music to my new iphone 4S

I just got a replacement iphone and upgraded to a 4S (from a 4).  Everything else synced just fine, even my podcasts!  But not my music?  Can someone please help?

    Check these items:
On the summary tab of your iTunes sync settings check "Sync only checked songs and videos"
In your music library check all the songs you want to sync to your phone
Make sure there are no exclamation points next to any of the songs you want to sync to your phone
Authorize your computer for all Apple IDs used for any purchased music you want to sync to your phone (in Store>Authorize This Computer)
Check "Sync Music" on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings
After all these look correct, try syncing your phone.

  • Issue syncing desktop iphoto '09 to iphone/ipad

Having an issue syncing photos from an event from my desktop iphoto '09 (where I can see all of them just fine) to either my iphone or ipad.  I even created a separate album with just those specific photos but when I update to phone the album is there but empty...any ideas on solutions?

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for the iPod Photo Cache.
Trash it. Start iPhoto and try sync again.

  • Problem syncing music to my new iPhone with my new MacBook Pro

    Hi all
I am having some problems syncing my music files to my new iPhone. I get the following message when trying to complete of sync.
"The World" was not compied to the iPhone "iPhone" because it could not be found.

  • Unable to sync music to iPod or iPhone

I still have not seen an answer to this problem.
Currently I am unable to sync any music to either my iPod or iPhone and do NOT get any form of error message from iTunes. When the sync is complete and successful, it says so in the iTunes progress window. Sync is always successful according to iTunes.
It will sync contacts, calendars, photo's and movies to the iPhone but not music. iPod has no video capability and iTunes will not sync music to it.
iPod is a mini(4Gb) with a Firewire connection, iPhone is Gen 1 with USB 2.0 connection.
I have synced to both devices without a problem in the recent past.
iTunes has been uninstalled and reinstalled.
ALL music plays from within iTunes and the iTunes library is on the same disk as iTunes.
There are NO error messages at all.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

iPod prefs are just fine, as are the iPhone prefs.
Regarding the Check Marks. None of the music has check marks in front of it and this I find is the problem.
Something seemingly unimportant and unnoticed was causing all this grief.
My thanks to you Diane, now that the check marks are in place, the iPhone has music again. I'm guessing that the iPod will also have music on it shortly.
Thanks again, I appreciate your help
