Issues Transferring Video Purchased on iTunes to My Video iPod..Help!

Just bought a new 60 BG Video iPod. I purchased a few videos from iTunes. However, when I connect my iPod to iTunes, only my music is transferred. The videos are not transferred. When I try to transfer the video to my iPod, I get the following messages...
'Update not possible. Error Message -50.'
'The disk could not be read from or written to.'
Anyone able to help me? Much appreciated...

There is no legal way to play videos purchased from the iTunes Store on an Archos player. They can be played on your computer or on an iPod with video.

How do I download the songs I purchased from itunes onto my older ipod nano...I believe it is a 2nd generation? I plug it into my computer, but nothing happens!!!

    Hello shay82578,
It sounds like you are trying to sync music from iTunes to your iPod nano.  I found some articles with steps to sync music to your iPod:
If you are using iTunes 11, you will want to follow the steps in this article:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Set up syncing for iPod, iPhone, or iPad
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12313
If you are using an earlier version of iTunes, you can follow the steps in this article:
iTunes: Syncing media content to iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1351
To be able to sync music from iTunes to your iPod nano, the music will need to be on the computer rather than streaming from iTunes in the Cloud.  You can find the steps to download your purchased music to your computer's hard drive under the section titled, "Apps, Books, Music, Movies, or TV shows on a computer" in the following article:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Transfering Apps purchased in iTunes form a PC to a MAC

I currently have my iTunes library on my work issued DELL laptop. I have also have a first generation 16GB iPhone. I have dozens of Applications on the iPhone that I purchased in iTunes. I need to return my PC, and I wanted to know if there was a way to transfer my purchased Apps from my PC to iTunes on my iBook G4. Please help?!

One other quick side note--the iTunes App store purchases on my iPhone have been synced to my PC laptop. Will I still be able to use the procedure you outlined even though the computers are two different operating systems (ie synched to PC, but need to migrate to MAC)?

  • Tracks purchased from iTunes automatically synching to iPod Touch

Have a problem with tracks and albums purchased from iTunes, which are automatically synching to my iPod Touch (5th Gen), even though I have already transferred them manually via my PC. The duplicates appear in the Music list in a greyed-out text, whereas my manually transferred albums are in bold.
Can anyone advise why this is happening, and how to prevent it?
Sorry, posted in wrong place, have Windows PC, not Mac.

iTunes still works with ALL iPods, back the original iPod.
The latest iTunes may hide the sidebar.  From the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
Does your iPod appear in the sidebar, under DEVICES?
If it does, select it there.  Over to the right, there is a row of "tabs" (starting with Summary).  Click on Music there.  This screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync your iPod with songs from the iTunes library.  You need to set it up, so that the songs you want on the iPod are included in your selection.  If your entire iTunes Music library will fit on the iPod, you can choose the option for Entire music library.  Otherwise, choose Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.
NOTE:  If the iPod already has songs on it, its current content will be replaced by your selection on the Music tab, when you click Apply.

    from a post from monkeyboy67:
Hopefully in answer to the many posts on “how to get various video formats onto your iPod” I have put together a summary of applications I use. I have tried a few others with varying amounts of success (some of which are free) - I have finally plumped for the software produced by Xilisoft as providing good quality video relatively affordable cost for use with PC’s and numerous MS operating systems. The link below takes you to their site which not only allows you to download trail versions of their software but also has a comprehensive set of tutorials and FAQ's for their iPod video conversion software.
I have regularly used these applications to convert various file formats to iPod friendly video. They are simple to use although frequently processor and RAM hungry:
Use Xilisoft iPod Video Converter if you want to:
[*]Convert various video file formats to MP4
[*]Convert most audio file formats to MP3
[*]Extract audio from video file and save to MP3
    [*]Encode several files simultaneously
[*]Pause encoding process to run other CPU time consuming programs at any time
    Supported file formats:
    Video:
    [*]MPEG(mpg, mpeg, dat, vob); WMV; ASF; AVI; QuichTime(mov, qt); MPEG4(mp4); 3GP; DV(dv,
    dif); Real Video(rm); Animated GIF(gif - decoding only); Macromedia Flash(swf - decoding
    audio only);
    Audio:
[*]MPEG Audio(mp2, mp3); WMA; WAV; AU; MPEG4 Audio(m4a); Real Audio(ra); OGG; AAC; Raw
    AC3(ac3); NUT Open Container Format(nut);
To convert DVD's to an iPod friendly video format:
Use Xilisoft DVD to iPod V4:
[*]Just pop the DVD in your drive select compression variables (default settings work well) and sit back!
All these products are available on a "try before you buy basis", yes there are applications for XP which are free but and may work just as well but I have converted many hours of video for my iPod without hassle using the Xilisoft products (no I don't work for them!). Check there web site HERE

  • Music on iTunes, but not on iPod; Help Please!

    Here is my situation.
I recently purchased an iTunes gift card and purchased and downloaded an album this weekend without a problem. The problem arose when I transfered the album onto my iPod.
I can listen to the album on my computer through iTunes with no problem. I can listen to it on my iPod through my computer no problem. When I try to listen to the album on my iPod by itself, it does not play the album.
The album information is shown on the iPod window but my iPod scrolls through each songtrack after 1 second (without playing any of them). I have never had this problem after downloading any free content via iTunes (e.g., podcasts).
I have already deauthorized/reauthorized my computer; as well as the 5Rs, and neither option resoved the problem.
Does anyone have any experience/advice in dealing with this issue?

  • Can't open iTunes after accidently unplugging iPod--help!

Having problems opening iTunes after I accidently unplugged my 60G video iPod while it was loading. iTunes kind of froze, with the spinning beach ball, and I had to force quit to stop it. I restarted the computer for good measure, but now, when I try to open iTunes, I get the message:
"The iTunes Music Library file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file."
Of course, the library file is NOT locked, NOT on a locked disk, and I DO have write permission for the file.
Can anyone help with this matter?
    Thanks,
    Terry

Try running Disk Utility and perform a "Repair Permission".
Also check manually through finder the permissions on "iTunes" folder as well as on the files in that folder.

  • VIDEO IPOD HELP....REAL BAD

i've just about had it with Apple...this isn't the first time (last year with my 20 GB i had all sorts of trouble) AND ITS STARTING TO **** ME OFF. I got a video ipod about a year ago and and its been working beautifully and i treated it like a baby. just a few scratches and one drop while it was in its case not that far off the ground. I was listening to it last night and all of a sudden it froze...this freeze is different..the screen is on, the motor sounds like its on, but when i turn the ipod a little it makes a funny sound (like the engine is hitting something) I pluged it in and tried reseting it, ive tried pluging it in my frickin computer. but nothing works, and it really makes me MAD.

Sounds like harddrive problem. Have you tried restoring it?

  • Issue transferring songs iOS 8 & iTunes 12 on Win 8.1

    Hello all,
Posting this in the iTunes area as I think it is iTunes having issue and not my iPhone 5.  I started having issues recently where my iPhone 5 would stop playing music in shuffle mode, and it got really annoying.  After thinking the issue was the iPhone I reset it to factory settings, re-transferred the music over and it got even worse.
After playing with the music app, I realized that the songs were listed as "present" on the iPhone but they would not play.  Hense my assumption that it is a transfer issue.  I set up the music/video transfers to manual with a downscale to AAC128Kbps.
I'm running Windows 8.1 w/ the latest version of iTunes (12.0.1.26) and my iOS is at 8.1.1.  My wife experienced similar issues, syncing from another laptop.   All my music is on a NAS, from either ripped CDs in MP3 256Kbps format or native AAC from iTunes purchases.
I'm experiencing this with both ripped CDs and iTunes-purchased AACs.
Any suggestions?  I thinking either put the music on a USB external hard drive & sync from there or try on my MacBook pro late 2011.
    Thanks in advance,
    JP

That seems to help only partially - I eliminated (that is actually removed all dead Feeds from my library. However there still is a significant period, where iTunes is not responding to any Input.
My guts Feeling is - the period has shrunken, however I have no measurements on that.
All in all - Situation is not satisfying, is it?
