Issues using 2 Ipods on same itunes acct, HELP

My husband and I share access to the same computer and dont have separate user things on it and whatever songs i select for my ipod it does the same to his list. unfortunately we only have similar taste in music about half the time so its getting kind of annoying to have to go through and recheck songs everytime i wanna get new music on mine. anyone had this problem? howd you solve the problem?
oh we only have the 8gb nanos and our computer has over 10gb of music at the moment which is why we have the selection dealio

Using Multiple iPods on Same iTunes Library

I'm using iTunes 5.0 with one library that I use to manually sync two iPods to. One iPod is a 40gb photo, and the other is 1st Gen. iPod (10gb)model. Not sure what is going on, but at for the longest time I was able to connect each iPod and manually sync to the library. I can now hook up my 40gb photo ipod and sync it, but when I hook up the 1st Gen. ipod, and try and drag and drop purchased music (from iTunes), it won't allow me to transfer the music. I've made sure the firmware is up to date. I'm running iTunes on my Windows pc running XP Home. Thanks for any help!

I just ran iPod updater and it's showing firmware version 1.4 (and that it's up to date). Is there a new updater with a more recent firmware version?

Using two iPads on same iTunes acct

I just received a new iPad that I have set it up using iTunes by selecting backup so my new iPad has all the same apps and data as my old iPad. Can I continue to use my old iPad as before so in essence I would have two mirrored iPads? It appears when I plug each into iTunes it backs up and syncs each without complaining that they have different serial numbers. Any downside to doing this?

The only downside is if you want separate apps on each. And that is easily managed by turning off automatic downloads and/or deleting unwanted apps off the device you don't want them on.

You should be able to turn on Automatic Downloads under iTunes > Preferences > Store and it should automatically get a copy of anything you buy.
If you only want stream it and have it show as an iTunes in the Cloud item make sure that is checked on the Preferences > Store

I'm having issues syncing my iPod touch to iTunes. When i connect the iPod to iTunes, a message pops up saying "iTunes could not connect to 'iPod Touch' because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter a passcode on the iPod before it can be used with iTunes." Yet when I unlock the device, the only screen available to me it the picture of a USB and an arrow pointing to iTunes so there is no way for me to enter a passcode. I tried going into "My Computer" to view the files of the iPod, if i could possibly reset the iPod to its factory settings yet the connected iPod is not present. Is there any way to possibly reset this iPod or is there a software problem?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Hmm... Just found out the 6 and 6 Plus were updated to 8.1.1 today. Coincidently, that's when this started.
Another thing is both phones ring and you can answer either one, or both. fwding is not selected.

You can sync as many ipods/iphone/ipads as you like to one computer/library. This has nothing to do with your issue.

People tell me all the time that their whole family has the same iTunes account so they can share everything. How do they do that? I tried to do mine on my husands phone and it said that the account was already in use so he set up his own. How do we share apps? If he pays for one I dont want to pay for the same one.

If you're referring to iTunes libraries, you can just drag the library from one computer to another. Rented movies won't play if moved.
If you're referring to iTunes Store accounts, you can log into one account from both and authorize up to 5 computers, but the purchases need to be separately transferred or redownloaded.

I have a 30Gb iPod Video, and my bro just bought a 4gb Nano. Is it possible to use both of them on the same iTunes, since I only have about 700 songs on it? Or do I have to put iTunes on my other computer aswell?

Our daughter has loaded her iPod onto our family computer and created an account. I now have my own iPod for which i want my own library, which will include photo's. How can I use my iPod and sync to my library without syncing to my daughter's.
I also need to download the library on my iPod onto my own library. I somehow had a library but it has been wiped clean due to a restore. Is there a way of reverse backing up from my iPod to my computer.

Transferring tracks from an iPod back to iTunes has been covered here a number of times already, but again:
First, you need to prevent automatic synchronzation with a blank copy of iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys in Windows. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer.
Then if you're using iTunes 7, you can then copy music that you purchased from the iTunes Store back to iTunes directly (use the Transfer Purchases From iPod command under the iTunes File menu).
If you're not using iTunes 7 or want to copy back other tracks, the easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:

My dad has an existing 30GB ipod and has a lot of music in his library. I just bought a 30GB ipod for myself. When I connected it, all of the music in my dad's library was copied to my ipod. However, I can not access it from itunes. The text appears grayed out for all songs. The songs will play on my ipod, though. I downloaded a video using my user name on the music store, but I can not drag it from the purchased playlist to my ipod, but my dad can. All of his song info appears in black, not gray.

You must select "manually manage songs and playlists" for your iPod preferences.
Open iTunes preferences. Mac users: From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences. Windows users: On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
In the resulting dialog, click the iPod tab, then click the Music tab in the iPod pane.
Select the "Manually manage songs and playlists" radio button.
