Issues when uploading book to Blurb from Lightroom 5

have Lightroom 5 and a Mac computer
About a month ago , I uploaded my book to Blurb from Lightroom - no issues.
Today after taking out a few photos , also removing 2 page spreads , justifying the printed pages to the right instead of the middle of the page -
The book would not upload - just hung. Contacted my ISP - internet connections have not slowed or changed.
As an experiment I tried to upload a previous book from last year that successfully uploaded - this time it also hung.   - not error message - When I tried to exit Lightroom I receive a message that it is uploading to Blurb - but nothing happens .  No matter how many times I try.
Also unable to create a PDF as well - also hangs  - no error message.
This is the message I received from Blurb: when I contactd support
Check to see if you are able to create a PDF of the book. If yes,
If you're on a wireless connection please connect directly to your router/internet connection using a cable instead. This can often be enough to allow the upload to complete.
Ensure your firewall and/or any security programs are temporarily disabled (Some software with known issues include Zone Alarm, Norton Internet Security and Kaspersky).
Turn off services such as Carbonite or Little Snitch.
If your upload fails again, please let me know at what stage it does so.
Best regards,
Kristin

Hi Sue,
Thanks for your reply.
It sounds like your best bet is to contact Lightroom support directly from the link below. They should have more detailed information to help you with this problem. (Blurb only handles the actual printing of your file or the conversion into a Blurb ebook).

I had the same problen with Lightroom 5 - Prepares the files but won't Upload to Blurb. Tried numerours times. It is a Landscape size Book 132 Pages. There is a BUG in Lightroom and here is how I got it to work:
Check each slide and make sure APPLY BACKGROUND GLOBALLY, GRAPHIC or BACKGROUND COLOR and not checked,. If so Uncheck them.
Go to EDIT and SELECT ALL Slides in the Book.
Select Apply Background Globally - turn it off and on several times, then leave it off
Select GRAPHIC - turn it off and then turn it on and off several times
Select BACKGROUND COLOR - turn it on then off then on then off
I ended up with APPLY GLOBALLY unchecked for Every Page.
GRAPHIC was turned on with a Graphic set at 12% Opacity on every Page
Again check each page first for these Checkmarks or just fix exverything with SELECT ALL.
Background Color was Turned off.
NOW UPLOAD THE BOOK - It took a couple hours but it uploaded without a hitch., I turned off all Firewalls and Plugged directly into the Router. I am using an IMac 27" with 32 GB of memory and this is the only way it would work. The Mac is about 7 days old and Lightroom 5 is also 7 days old. BUGGIEST piece of software I have ever used.
Note - one of the above steps fixes the BUG - I am not sure which one but one will fix your book. It finally uploaded to BLURB today. It took a few hours though.

  • Error when uploading book to Blurb from LR 4.1 and after 4.3 update

    I have been trying for over 24 hours to upload a 75 page book successfully from LR 4.1, and also after updating to LR 4.3!  I was initially able to upload to pdf format in LR 4.1, then it stopped working.  Book upload to Blurb took a very long time to upload the 75 pages plus cover and got stuck in the process of uploading pages, finally returning an error message: "There was an error in uploading your book, would you like to try again?"
    After several attempts to upload the book, updating to LR 4.3., then the process stopped working in upload to pdf.  I checked the box on background "Apply Background Globally" to get to the "Graphic" checkbox that was checked.  I unchecked it and then removed the "Apply Background Globally" checkbox.  After doing that, I was able to upload to pdf, but still received the error message when uploading to Blurb, even after several of retry attempts.
    As a workaround, I was going to try to upload the pdf file directly to Blurb but received a statement saying the pdf was not the right size.  Please help with this issue.  I purchased LR4 to be able to use the book feature and I am very disappointed in both Adobe and Blurb for the lack of support found in all of the FAQ's, How To's, etc.  I have seen so many posts similar to mine.  Surely there should be some fix for these common issues by now.
    I would appreciate any help you can provide.

    Hello,
    I had this problem as well - the upload to Blurb would not work. Creation of a PDF and export as JPEG in the book module worked.
    For me, the solution was to turn off the Windows Firewall while uploading. Now it works!

  • Uploading book to Blurb using Lightroom 5, rendereing is OK but gets stuck at uploading, will not complete.

    Hi
    I'm using Lightroom 5 loaded onto a Windows PC, 64 bit. I've cleared up disc space so that is not a problem.
    Building the book is OK. But when I select the Send Book to Blurb button, it gets to about 60-70% complete but then stops.
    The book is 154 pages and comprises mainly tiff files (originally exported from Nikon NX2), so file size is fairly large.
    What are my options?

  • OpenGL issue when launching Photoshop CS5 Extended from Lightroom?

    I noticed about 2 weeks ago that the scrubby zoom and rotate commands stopped working.  Obviously OpenGL was not
    enabled and was greyed out, not letting me enable it.  I have a 295GTX video card with dual GPU's and I have updated all drivers NVidia 280.26.  When I went through the Adobe troubleshoot doc I reset my preferences/defaults by holding <CTRL><ALT><SHIFT> when launching Photoshop and it allows me to enable it.  I can even open a bunch of images and everything works but only if I open them FROM within Photoshop.  If I pick an image from Lightroom (Latest Version) and launch it to photoshop it will not allow me to run OpenGL features any longer and the only way I can get it to work again is to reset it doing the <CTRL><ALT><SHIFT> move.
    Any suggestions or knowlege of issues / bugs?

    As a temporary workaround, you can uninstall the driver and try using an earlier release.  Sometimes they break new things with new releases.

  • Error occurred while uploading book to blurb

    Hi,
    I have sent dosens of books to blurb via lightroom without any issue, but I am getting the following error message
    "an error occured adding text and fonts to book"
    Anyone had this issue, and have any remedy to it? I have tried changing the layouts and fonts without success. I have the same issue when generating a pdf. I have just sent some other albums to blurb with no issue its only with this particular project, it also wont generate pdfs but will generate it as jpegs.
    Any help would be amazing as I dont want to have to redo this album!!!
    Cheers,
    Paul

    Just changed the font AGAIN, this time to Arial, and its now working... bizarre. So if anyone else has this issue, just keep hitting send lol!!!

  • When I export a photo from lightroom, the image is very pixelated.

    When I export a photo from lightroom, the image is very pixelated. This pixelization occurs irrespective of whether I make adjustments in Lightroom.  It seems that just placeing the photo into he develope modual  without doing anything to it taints the image in such a manner that when it is exported from the develope modual the expot comes out pixelated.

    Brett,
    The photo i was a panorama knitted in Photoshop from four photos which were approx 3.3 MB each. The knitted pic came out to be 1.10MB. The panorama pic I was trying to refine in Lightroom and export came out to be 70.9 KB and extremly pixilated. Whether I altered it  in Lightroom  or not didn't matter.
    I can't imagine that bringing up the photo in the Develop modual would result in pixilization when it was exported regardless of whether it was altered or not altered.!!
    Attached is  a copy of the Photoshop saved and Lightroom exported photos before and after. I appreciate your help and interest. The top pic 1.10MB is what was saved on Photoshop. The bottom pic 70.9KB is the unaltered pic exported out of the Develop modual exhiiting the pixelization.

  • Lightroom 4 launches to Photoshop CS5 when I try to print from Lightroom. How do I change it

    Lightroom 4 launches to Photoshop CS5 when I try to print from Lightroom. How do I change it, so the printing goes directly from Lightroom to the printer.

    MartyOretsky wrote:
    Let me try again. I am in Lightroom and click print. Then I am launched to PS.
    This is not possible.
    What you are seeing is not PS, it's your printer dialog. PS does not have an ICM button.
    And you say: " Lightroom doesn't stop working; rather CS5 stops working"
    And what does the error message say that you posted in the screen shot?  Does it not say "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has stopped working" ?
    Do not be confused. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is the official name of Lightroom. This is not CS5 that has stopped working. CS5 does not come on when you hit the print button in Lr.
    It is Lr that has stopped working.
    And you say: "My next step is to click on ICM so the color controls are done by the software."
    This is wrong. When you want Lr to do the color management, you select a profile in the Print Module, in the <Print Job> panel under Color Management / Profile.
    In the screen shot below I have selected a profile for my HP printer and paper. And that's where you select a profile for your printer and paper.
    You do not click on ICM in your printer dialog. You click there only when you want your printer to manage colors.
    So try to print by selecting the profile in the print Module as indicated and do not click on ICM.
    By the way: Which OS? Are you on a Mac?

  • Is it possible to add and view your key words when creating a web site from Lightroom 4?

    Is it possible to add and view your key words when creating a web site from Lightroom 4?

    Hi,
    I had the same problem with
    "java.lang.NullPointerException at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.clientimpl.html.uielib.standard.uradapter.ViewContainerUIElementAdapter.getContent(ViewContainerUIElementAdapter.java:98)"
    when I included ViewUsages dynamically in an action handler (outside wdDoInit()).
    The code below fixed that problem.
    This code creates a new OutboundPlug for the embedding view with the embedded view as target and fires the plug.
    <i>// Create OutboundPlug
    IWDOutboundPlugInfo outboundPlug = embedderViewInfo.createOutboundPlug();
    //Create navigation link
    rootViewUsage.createNavigationTarget(outboundPlug.getName(), interfaceViewUsage, "Default");
    // fire navigation link
    wdThis.wdGetAPI().firePlug(outboundPlug, Collections.EMPTY_MAP);
    </i>
    I hope I could help you. Probably you don't need the information anymore, but perhaps anybody else has the same problem.

    With iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via control-S on a PC, option-command-S on a Mac. If you are trying to get it to the iBooks app then with the sidebar enabled the process should be similar to how it was on previous versions of iTunes e.g. add it to your iTunes library via File > Add To Library, connect the iPad and select it on the left-hand sidebar, and then use the Books tab on the right-hand side to select and sync it to the iBooks app.

    Hi,
    I got this problem sorted and it actually very easy. For some reason the settings on the windows page i use on my laptop conflicted with the blurb/lightroom upload. All you need to do is set up a new windows user page and set it up as admin. You will need to transfer all the photos from the lightroom on your current user page to the new one which can be annoying but at least you will hopefully get up and running again. I hope this helps,
                               Sean.

  • Issue when uploading Sales data from DSO to Cube.

    Dear All,
    I have an issue when I am uploading Sales data from DSO to Cube.  I am using BI 7.0 and I have uploaded all sales document level data to my DSO.  Then I use a transformation rule to calculate the Sales Value when I am doing DTP to cube.  Cube has customer wise aggregation data.
    In DSO I have NetPrice(KF) and Delivered_QTY(KF).  I do a simple multiplication routine in the transformation from DSO to Cube.
    RESULT =   SOURCE_FIELDS-NET_PRICE * SOURCE_FIELDS-DLV_QTY .
    At the moment I use Active Table(With out Archive) on the DSO to get the data since this is my first load.
    Issue is that the figure (Sales Value) in the cube is incorrect. I am getting a very large values which is impossible.
    Can someone please help me.
    Shanka

    Hi,
    are you sure that cube has customer wise aggregated data..since it will always aggregate the values of the key figures for the same set of characters...
    did you checked the values for the key figures as well and if even they are inflated or is the problem with this key figure only.
    During the data load the records may aggregates first for the same values of characters and then multiplication will be happening....if that is the case then you may have to multiply the values before storing it in the data package and then let it aggregate....can be achived through start routine...
    but first verify if other key figures are also having the same issue.
    Thanks
    Ajeet

  • Book Module: exporting from Lightroom as a 2 page spread

    Hello Lightroom people,
    I have begun to create my albums in the lightroom book module, and I am about 85% happy with it. I have one major complaint, and I'm wondering if it can be corrected:
    My album company wants me to submit my album pages as two page jepg spreads. For example, if I am making a 10" x 10" book, rather then submitting pages 1 and 2 as two 10" x 10" jpegs, they require a single, 10" x 20" jpeg that is then printed as pages 1 and 2.
    When I export from lightroom, it exports instead as single pages (to use the example from about, two 10" x 10" jpegs for pages 1 and 2). I've noticed that if I design a 2 page spread--then it will export that the way I want it, but obviously no album can have all  2 page spreads.
    My work around for this is to import the jpegs in photoshop and lay the pages together the way my album company likes, but this is somewhat time consuming.
    Is there a setting in the book module I am missing that could correct this?
    Thanks,
    Ellen

    Yes, there is always a workaround, though Lr was supposed to simplify the process, not create more work ... though if we were discussing having to export images ... THEN ... send them to a printer instead of printing them directly in Lr ... there would be much more discussion about the problems the Book module poses for many users ...
    If I must export images and use outside software to finish the job (InDesign or otherwise) I may as well give up Lightroom as a "workflow solution" ... I could get the same job done working with Bridge/ACR/Ps workflow ... however ... I bought into the paradigm of Lr being the answer for RAW processing to output workflow ... though Adobe seems to pick and choose which features they really care about ... If Adobe is going to include a Book module, and expect me to financially support the effort ... they could at least offer a module that is functional without being tied to a single vendor ...
