Issues while access Excel file saved on a domain.

Original title: Locked File Issue.
Hi Guys,
I am wondering if you can help.
I have a client using a Windows 7 x64 SP1 workstation who accessed files from an SBS 2011 Box [domain]
When more than 1 user accesses a document or SS it locks as expected but displays a user who does not exist or is not using the file, it happens with all files. and funnily display the correct user locking the file in file and share management!
The first thing I did was to check that each user was registered in Office as themselves and they were, the 2nd was to check the properties of the file paying attention to the author and this was also correct and showing a domain based user as the
author, I tried removing the user properties from the file and still the issue exists.
Does anybody have the answer!?

Sometimes where it says 'another user' it has the name of someone that didn't open the file or it has no name at all. Just a big ' ' where a name ought to be. Fear not, there is a fix for this problem. The flavor depends on whether you have Excel 2010
or Excel 2007. The below KB Articles contain hotfixes that address several issues, not just the file locked issue. But in the dialog of the article you will see this as one of the problem descriptions:

Issue while accessing a file using UTL_FILE

Hi,
My requirement is to check for the existence of a file in the file system(apps tier) and then launch a conc program to load the data.
There is a separate DB tier.
I am trying to use UTL_FILE.fopen to indirectly see if the file exists
and then proceed and I am trying to use UTL_FILE.fopen for that.
The file is placed in the apps tier. I have created a directory in the database with the path and using that in the UTL_FILE.FOPEN call.
However I am getting the following error. ORA-29283 - An attempt was made to read from a file or directory that does not exist, or file or directory access was denied by the operating system.
What could be the issue here? Is there anything that I need to do after creating the directory?.

/Pl post details of OS, database and EBS versions.
Are the Apps and DB servers physically separate ? If so, the directory on the Apps server where the file resides will have to be visible/updateable to the DB server in order for UTL_FILE to be able to read/write to it.

The apps and db servers are separate. EBS version is 11.5.10.2 and the OS is unix.
How do I make the directory in apps server visible/updateable to the DB server?. I have created a directory in the database with the location of the file in apps tier.

Error Raised while uploading Excel file to SAP

I am getting error while uploading excel file into SAP using the function module 'TEXT_CONVERT_XLS_TO_SAP'.
Error Message is UX(893) - 'Excel file & cannot be processed' .

1 .TEXT_CONVERT_XLS_TO_SAP Funtion module will work if you have installed Microsoft Excel at front end.
2. Whenyou declare internal table for upload, specify the char only in the strcture ,don't specify any data element or dictionary reference.    If the data element and dictionaly reference is character field then its ok.
eg.
types:begin of st_data,
           field1 type char15,
           field2 type char23,
          endif.
3. Close the excel before you upload

Hi,
Often this error occurs because the TIFF file you have has been saved with some form of compression. You need to open in a picture edit program and save as TIFF making sure options are set so there is no compression.

No database version of course. Unimportant.
If I recall correctly, it is 'integer external ' and you would best double quoting the alphanumerics (which you didn't ).
Try changing integer in integer external in the ctl file.

I'm facing performance issue while accessing the PLAF Table.
The START-OF-SELECTION of the report starts with the following select query.
    SELECT plnum pwwrk matnr gsmng psttr FROM plaf
    INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE it_tab
    WHERE matnr IN s_matnr
      AND pwwrk = p_pwwrk
      AND psttr IN s_psttr
      AND auffx = 'X'
      AND paart = 'LA' .
While executing the report in the Quality system it does not face any performance issue...
When it comes to Production System the above said select query itself it is taking 15 - 20 minutes time to move further.
Kindly help me to over come this problem...

This statement has nothing to do with performance, because system is not able to use primary key or uses every row.
Jessica, your query uses secondary index created by SAP:
1     (Material, plant) which uses fields MANDT MATNR and PLWRK.
but it is not suitable in your case.
You can consider adding new one, which would containt all fields: MANDT, MATNR, PWWRK, PSTTR AUFFX PAART
or - but it depends on number of rows meeting and not meeting (auffx = 'X' AND paart = 'LA' ) condition.
It could speed the performance, if you would create secondary index based on fields MANDT, MATNR, PWWRK, PSTTR
and do like Ramchander suggested: remove AUFFX and PAART from index and where section, and remove these unwanted rows
after the query using DELETE statement.

Excel file saving issue

I have an excel file on my OSX Server. When I opening from the server window, I can modify the file and save it. If I take that file and make an alias on my dock, I can open it, modify it but O have to save it with a different filename. I have also noticed that when I open it via the alias it add a number to the end of the filename in the document header (filename1.xlsx). If I close it and open it again it increases the number by one (filename2.xlsx) and so on. I have to delete the old file to save the new file in it's place on the server. This is a relatively new problem since updating to maverick.

Need a little help with an excel issue:
One of my end users has a program that exports a file that she opens with excel and then saves it as filename.trn - She normally was able to save it with quotations around it as "filename.trn" and it would force it with this TRN file extension but the other day this stopped working. Now when she saves it as "filename.trn" it actually ends up being filename.trn.xlsx. I was able to log in with a different domain account on her computer and do this task with no problem so I'm kinda lost here. Anyone have an idea why this started behaving this way and how to fix it?

"DBSTATUS_UNAVAILABLE" Error while importing Excel File

I am getting following error while importing data from Excel 2003 to SQL server using SSIS 2008, [Excel Source [1]] Error: There was an error with output "Excel Source Output" (9) on component "Excel Source" (1). The column status
returned was: "DBSTATUS_UNAVAILABLE".
If i open the excel file and done any editing then the same file loads without any issue. Can you guide me why it's happening ? , i have edited "TypeGuessRow" property to 0 , IMEX = 1 but no help.

The error is generic and can occur due to various causes. In order to troubleshoot this issue, I need to clarify some information:
Could you please post some sample data for that column in the error message?
Have you modify some properties after accessing data from that Excel file?
Since the error message is incomplete, could you post other error messages from the Output pane？
Besides, we can also use
SQL Server Import Export Wizard to import Excel into SQL Server database.

ABAP Dump issue while accessing Gateway

We have recently upgraded our Gateway server to SP03. Eversince after service generation while accessing the XML/Metadata from the consumption page we get an HTTP error with Dump. Has anyone faced this problem before.

Problem while uploading excel file to server

Hello,
I have created an excel file using OLE and saved it to local desktop. Then I use GUI_UPLOAD to upload the excel into SAP and attach it to mail. but while using Function GUI_UPLOAD I am getting dump for CNTL_ERROR.
If I skip the process of excel creation by OLE and passes the excel file created earlier then it gives no dump and is executed successfully.
Kindly help on this.

Try using the FM - F4_FILENAME to get the valid file name and use TEXT_CONVERT_XLS_TO_SAP FM to upload into SAP based on the required format.
