Issues with Adobe CS and Permissions in Snow Leopard
Me: Model: iMac7,1, BootROM IM71.007A.B03, 2 processors, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz, 3 GB, SMC 1.21f4
Running Mac OS X 10.6.8 (I know time to upgrade)
Also related to this I'm using Adobe Creative Suite 5 (Indesign 7)
So it started a couple of days ago when I noticed my external HD was locked on my home computer...Firefox can't update and then Photoshop tells me it can't save preferences and InDesign tells me it can't open (unexpectedly quits when opening). Uh oh.
I've used Adobe Cleaner to try and solve the issue along with multiple uninstalls/installs of Adobe Creative Suite. And so I've narrowed this down to a permissions issue (I believe it happened when I was trying to share my external HD to our Boxee).
I downloaded Batchmod to see if that would work and i managed to unlock the external HD but no luck yet for Adobe CS. I tried unlocking all the preferences in user/library/preferences and that worked (still locked but not grayed out) but user/applications and manged is still grayed out with custom access.And I'm sure there's other folders hiding that need to be unlocked.
Is there a blanket command for terminal to unlock everything? I know using * in Terminal could work but where do I start?

Line after line of it, even after a restart without using the Zinio program (e-pub reader). I have repaired my keychain, and updated to adobe air beta 3, but still get the same meassages. If anyone has any ideas, please share.

BryanThis issue was vexing me too, and no amount of repairing the keychain (or deleting these entries) would make it go away. Everytime I'd launch any Adobe AIR app, the problem would immediately return.
And I believe it was caused a huge speed slowdown, extra heat and overactive fan action on my mid-2010 MacBook Pro (2.66 Ghz Intel Core i7 with 8 GB of RAM, otherwise clean install of OS X 10.7.)
Anyway, I came across this post with a purported hack to fix it:

Caching Issues with Adobe Flex and HTTPservice
I faced a strange issue a coupla days back. In one of my Applications I had a Timer which would fire every 10 secs and would fetch data using a HTTPService call when fired. Surprisingly though, the initial results fetched by the HTTPservice was cached and would not reflect any changes when the data changed in the background, in IE, however the problem would not occur in Firefox !
I sort of hacked the HTTPService url to add a random number at the end of the call to make it believe that it was calling a different URL every time and it worked. But I would definitely like to know the reason for this behaviorHi, Abesh.
I ran into the same thing, but it did not do this until recently! I had recently installed Flex 3.0 beta, so maybe something changed with the compiler and/or the Flash VM in this regard. Also, you can change the behavior of the Flex/Flash runtime by changing the caching settings in IE (check page for newer version on each visit).

Repeated issues with Adobe Flash and Facebook Firefox 6
I have had repeated ongoing issues since upgrading to Firefox 6. Adobe Flash crashes repeatedly, even after installing the newest. In particular having a ton of issues with Facebook. It all works fine in IE, so have narrowed it down.
I think I would just like to go back to Firefox 5. Is that available somewhere?Anyone able to help please?

Issues with Bluetooth/Wireless Mighty Mouse since Snow Leopard Install
Hi,
I am having issues with my bluetooth wireless mighty mouse. It was fine after initially having installed Snow Leopard. However, in the past week it has become progressively more and more unresponsive. It functions perfectly normal for the first while after startup, then after a short period of time it becomes slow to respond to the mouse movements that move the cursor. Eventually it gets to the point that moving the mouse results in no cursor movement whatsoever. It also becomes unresponsive to squeezing the side buttons. There are no issues with clicking or scrolling with the track ball.
I have searched the discussion forums to find issues that pertain to "bluetooth" and "wireless mighty mouse" and have tried the following suggested remedies... Repairing my Mouse with my Mac mini. Renaming my mouse. Deleting the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file from Macintosh HD\Library\Preferences and restarting my Mac. Reset PRAM and NVRAM. Also tried to install Bluetooth Firmware update 2.0.1 but I get an indication that the update is not needed on my Mac mini. I have also checked for software updates but there are none...
I am going to attempt resetting the SMC but am doubtful that this will help...
Can anyone help... Please... ?

DesI had read in another forum where someone had an understanding that the bluetooth problem had something to do with Airport/Time Capsule. I had also read about how someone was having an issue with being unable to turn off airport. (I had this same problem.)
Upon deleting a few airport related plist files (see below url) I was able to turn off/on airport AND my Mouse issue has no longer appeared... everything is working a-ok now.

Lion OSX major network issue with MacBook but cannot restore from Snow Leopard disk - help!
I have a network with an airport extreme with two expresses and a time capsule extending the network. The network has a Mac, apple TV and two iphones which all connect absolutely fine. The macbook did too, until I upgraded to 7.6.1 on the airports. I took the airports back to 7.6 but the Mac simply isn't speaking properly to my extreme. It drops, speeds up, slows down and works differently in different part of the house.
Been to Genius who said, macbook is fine, try either a completely fresh install on the mac, or reset the network. The reset of the network hasn't worked, so I wanted to reinstall snow leopard then lion on my mac. Put the disk in, and it came up with the error can't install the Mac OSX from the install Mac OSX disc. I have therefore tried the original leopard disks, which simply restart, chime and restart (continuously).
I need some help as this is my work computer and I don't seem to be able to get any help from anyone.
So I need to know the following:
1) Has anyone got any other solutions for the extreme problem (have tried dragging out the preferences but that didn't work either);
2) How do you reinstall an OS from the disk - as this in particular is a nightmare.
3) Anyone able to suggest a work round??
Would be very grateful for assistance.

Firstly it will help us diagnose your problem to know the exact model, size, year built, RAM installed and OS you're running. That would include the OS and particulars about the Mac Pro.

The normal diagnosis for that is RAM problems.

Mac Pro with software raid and upgrading to Snow Leopard
Not sure if anyone else has experienced this but here goes. I have a mac pro with 4 500G drives using the onboard software raid. When I insert the Snow Leopard disk and try to install, it fails to find the raid. Is there a trick to get this to work?

I even went so far as to do a full Leopard install with Snow Leopard update on a USB drive and them cloned it over to my RAID 0 array using SuperDuper hoping that this would solve the problem. It seemed to in the sense that the clone went fine but then when I would try and boot from the array I would get the Apple Logo and spinning wheel but it just kept spinning and spinning until finally the Apple logo was replaced by the Do Not Enter symbol(you know the circle with the slash through it).
So came here and found this thread. Your solution worked like charm!!! Once again thank you so much... you saved me from being bald. -
Help! Issue with Adobe 8 and Microsoft 2007

I'm hoping someone can help me. I recently installed Adobe 8 on a laptop running Microsoft 2007. When an email arrives with a word attachment, I double click on the attachment, click open, the word program opens rigth up but the document never appears. There is no error message, just no document. Previewing the document also works.
Excel attachments work fine. This issue just started happening after Adobe was installed this afternoon. Before that, we had no issues.
Does anyone have any ideas???

I am tired of facing issues with Adobe Acrobat and AAM what alternatives are available
You know what I'm not buying?
Another Adobe product. This application manager bull is one massive dry hump. Acrobat X now randomly insists I install this crap or it won't start - I have to uninstall it, use the cleaner tool and then reinstall it. Otherwise it either opens a document and then crashes, or it tells me I need Adobe Application Manager or my trial won't work. It can work fine for ages, and then boom - suddenly it insists my "trial" isn't working. I only reinstalled it ten days ago, and now it's doing it again.
This isn't a trial, it's a standalone. I don't have CS suite. Also, your support sucks.
This is a terrible thing to do to us. You screw up my workflow something wicked - instead of doing actual work, I spend my time messing around with your crappy products trying to get it to work.

...what I've taken to doing now, with support seemingly unable to support anything, is keeping a copy of AAM on my desktop. It seems that every three days to two weeks, usually when pushing a document through from ABBYY Finereader, Acrobat will seemingly forget that Adobe Application Manager is installed, or AAM somehow disappears from my system. So I have to reinstall AAM and then everything works again.
PDF Xchange is a little clunky. The viewer is quite nice, and fast, but the PDF Tools interface is really clunky, so when I'm converting scanned images of different sizes, the workflow isn't really very good. I guess I should be sticking to ABBYY for that. Cute PDF is also fast, but it's got a few limitations on the file types, so I had to scrap it. -
Issue with Adobe Air and Rosetta Stone in Mountain Lion.
After installing Mountain Lion, I tried to open Rosetta Stone. I was directed to update and install adobe air. I did that, then tried to open Rosetta Stone again and it said the installation of Adobe Air was damaged. I went to Adobe to reinstall and it said it's already installed. I'm now stuck in a circle...Help!

Issue with Close/Minimise/Zoom Buttons in Snow Leopard

Hope you may be able to help me with a small but really annoying problem.
If I go to click on the "close" button on a window (can be any application) but, for instance, miss slightly and click on the grey area just below or to the side of it, and then click close, the window in fact minimises.
This is a reproducible behaviour but I can't for the life of me figure out why it's happening! I've repaired permissions and so on but to no avail.
The only thing I can think was that I upgraded my copy of Snow from a Snow beta rather than an erase and install - would this cause such behaviour?

RyanThat indicates corruption or a conflict within the old account, usually with preference (plist) files. Make a list of the preference files inside the /new user/Library/Preferences/ folder, log back into the old account, move the ones on your list to a folder on the desktop, log out and back in, and see if the behavior is fixed. If so, create another folder on the Desktop, copy the new ones to that folder, and slowly replace a few new ones in /old user/Library/Preferences/ with the same ones first moved, until you find which ones were causing the problem. Delete those and replace with their copies. The process is slow, but required.
Alternatively, you could log into the new one, delete the old one, *electing to save its data (creates a disk image in /Users/Deleted Users/)*, recreate the account, using the same username/password combo, log into it, mount the saved data image, and slowly transfer plist files from it to the recreated one, frequently logging out and back in until you find the bad files.

I have been suggested to down grade to 10.6.6 due to issues with Adobe and Apple working things out. I have downloaded 10.6.6 but wont let me install. Any ideas?
Yes, simply reinstall from your Snow Leopard installer disc. The reinstall will not erase the hard drive. After reinstalling you can upgrade to 10.6.6 with your updater.

I don't know if this is the right section but I experience the following issue with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI installed on Windows 8.1. When I start Acrobat the related window opens normally but, after some scroll up and down along the document, it blocks, Acrobat doesn't respond to any command I can give and, in place of the pointer arrow, a vertical bar, as the one of the text editor appears. The only way I can stop Acrobat is by means of the task manager. I tried to de-install and the re- install Acrobat but the behaviour is always the same. What can I do??
Have you opened Acrobat and gone to Help>Updates to get an updated install?
