Issues with Album Art

So I decided to try iTunes Match the other day and after a very simple switch over on my iPhone, I thought everything was done and working properly.
Unfortunately, when I went to play music on the phone, none of the album artwork was showing up.  Upon further inspection, it seems that only the first track of an album has cover art, but the rest of the songs are lacking.  So, if one were to look at the albums listing or cover flow, things would look fine, when really I'm missing nearly all of the album artwork.  There are also a handful of albums in which the cover art is completely missing, but considering that these tracks were rips, I'm not surprised nor am I that concerned.
Can anyone explain why all of these albums, even one that were puchase from iTunes, only have album art on the first song and no others?
Thanks

Ah! Got it!
After posting on here last night I kept fiddling around with things and finally went to bed. Got up this morning and suddenly was able to copy/paste artwork in. I played around with several things, but I think the one that made the difference was under the Advanced drop down menu on iTunes. Select "Get Album Artwork" and run it. This fixed some of the albums, but not all of them.
From there I went to the albums that weren't fixed and was able to highlight a song in iTunes and bring up the info (Control+I, or it's on the right-click menu). Before, the Artwork tab was available on only the first song, now it was available on all of the tracks. Only the first track had the artwork in it though. I just clicked the artwork on Track 1, click the Next button below (taking you to Track 2). You'll notice the space is blank, just click Control-V (paste) and it appears. This is tedious, because you have to do it for every album, every song, but it gets the job done.
If this doesn't work for you let me know, I'll try and remember what other steps I did other than Get Album Artwork, but that would seem like the most logical one.
PS- Go Buckeyes, O-H!

  • Issue with album art work....

.....hey everyone. I have a issue with my itunes art work. Well it's on my gif's computer. She made the mistake of lending it to her little niece, which has a zone. There was a update prompted to update itunes and zone software. She updated both at the same time. Now her music is missing it's album art and now the zone software shows it has it(Music she imported from cd into itunes). Now my thought is that she made the zone software convert it to WMA format. But I check to see in my itunes folder in my music and it's still there. I try to access the album info in itunes, and even though the information is correct to the T, itunes say's it's not there. Can anyone help me with this issue. Thank you very much.

I think I know this problem. It doesn't have to do with Zone, it has to do with the latest iTunes.
If you select a song and it says "Album artwork not modifiable", then the likely problem is that iTunes9 added another ID3 V2 tag to the song, and now can't read the file. I had to manually go through 5000 songs and remove the duplicate tags using a tagging software. (I used tagscanner)

  • "Double Images" with Album Art

I occasionally see "double images" using Apple TV where the previous screen is overlaid with album art...Has anyone else had this issue? A reboot solves it, but only temporarily.
    Screenshot is attached. Thanks!

    Hi T-Shirt11's Products,
Thanks for the screen shot, very descriptive.
That looks like the first symptom in this article.

Unexpected or inconsistent behavior within the Apple TV interface
So I would recommend the restore as mentioned.
Restoring your Apple TV to factory settings
On Apple TV, chooseSettings > General > Reset, and then clickRestore.
Your Apple TV will restore to factory settings and will download and install the latest Apple TV software. This process may take some time. Do not disconnect your Apple TV's power cable during the restore process.

  • I need a simple program to convert flac files to mp3 with album art

Is there a fairly simple program that will convert files and imbed album art by track? All of my music files are flac with album art included in the album folder.

Not sure of any software that will do the conversion and automatically embed album art, but LameDropXPD is a free, super-simple drag and drop conversion tool that will accept flac input: http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lamedrop.php#lamedrop-current and MP3Tag (also free) has an option to do batch embedding of album art.

  • Restored my library from backup discs, need help with album art/playlist

Good morning everyone. Using the great information on this site I have successfully backed up "my library". I then reformatted my hd and reinstalled win xp and itunes. I was also successful in using the awesome restore feature of itunes. "My library" is back 100%.
The only thing left is the album art and my playlists- both currently on my ipod. My question is how do I update "my library" and "my playlist" from my ipod? I am worried that if I plug in my ipod without knowing what to do then my ipod will try to match "my library" (which does not have artwork) and thus my ipod will delete the album artwork. I have several thousand songs and would HATE to lose that artwork since it would be a time consuming pain to update those manually. Also I have 20 or so playlists on my ipod. I am afraid of losing those (currently on ipod) when I connect to itunes since it will try to update and match the now empty/blank playlist currently in itunes.
I am sure these are easy solutions for you pros out there. That's why I am asking! You folks have always given the proper help and advice whenever an issue has arisen. Thanks in advance!

some album covers just aren't exactly square, particularly if the CDs are sold in cardboard flip-cases.
I deal with artwork in a more hap-hazzard way, but most of the time, i get SQUARE results...
Just Google the album title, then click the IMAGES tab. More times than not, I find the album cover in multiple sizes and about every time, at least one version that is truly square.
All i need to do then is click the image, then again at the top of the resulting Google page (to show just the image - out of it's surrounding page), then drag the image directly to the Album Artwork Placeholder in the GET INFO tab (that has already been opened on multiple items - the whole album).

  • Compatability Problem with Album Art and iTunes in Vista?

    Hi there,
I have album art for all of my music which I have added myself. (I prefer to do so instead of iTunes doing it for me.) However, after purchasing a new computer using Vista, I've encountered a problem.
When I drag and drop my music into iTunes, only about half of the album art shows up. The rest either isn't loaded or isn't identified by iTunes, even though I know it's there.
In fact, you can see the album art icon associated with each file when it's organized in its folder on my C: drive. But again, for some reason, much of it isn't loading when I open the files into iTunes.
I never had this problem using XP. Is it a compatability issue or is there a simple fix I'm unaware of? I'd really appreciate any help!!
    Thanks,
    Michael
    HP Pavillion dv6000   Windows Vista

Alright, my apologies, Chris. I don't think I explained myself clearly enough. The files are embedded with the music (these are the same music files that worked just fine in XP.)
The artwork isn't separate from the actual music file. When you click on the actual music file, you see the ICON associated with the file, and it's the artwork. I suppose that's just a new Vista feature.
However, I embedded all of the album covers myself, and again, they worked just fine in iTunes with XP. But for some reason, only about half of the album art is being recognized by iTunes even though it's embedded into the actual tag.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Problem with album art on apple tv 2 since IOS 5

    hey
since i installed ios 5 on my ipad and apple tv 2 i have the problem that my album artwork does not appear starting from song 2 of the album
when i airplay with my ipad, the first song of an album has album art, starting from the second song, the album art suddenly dissapears

I have the exact same problem also - very frustrating given that it was working perfectly before I updated to IOS 5. strangely enough, the artwork displays for the first track you select within each album, so if you create a playlist and select one track from each album this would display the album artwork correctly and no problem exists. If you decided to skip from track 1 to another track within the album the artwork is not displayed? I have an iPhone which works fine when I use this to play music through apple TV so for me the issue is with the iPad update software and it must be a glitch or error in the recent update. I would really appreciate any tips to fix this issue as it bugging the **** out of me!!! Apple - get yer finger out and fix this!!!

  • Itunes hangs after  just listening to music with Album Art work turned on.

I have been having issues with iTunes hanging and I have to open up task manager and kill the process. It doesn't Hang my system, only iTunes. I have noticed that the itune's process is taking up about 1.4 GB of memory and that each time it hangs it is around that amount. I have almost 38,000 Songs in my iTunes folder and I have album Art work for all of them. Is there some limitation on the amount of Art work? If I turn off the Art work it will run all day long with no problem.

Not necessarily.  I was asking that cause iTunes match will upload album artwork for the first track of a CD and it wont display until after you play the track you want artwork to display for.  As far as it not displaying when being synced via iTunes, I am sorry but I don't have any idea.

  • New issue about Album Art

I sent this e-mail to Apple and was sent back a "follow-up" e-mail a day later that completely disregarded everything I said and didn't answer anything I asked. I figured if I post on this board I could actually get some help since the phone and e-mail already failed. My questions and all of the information are below:
I recently downloaded iTunes 7 and was excited about the new cover art feature. However, I have a problem while using it. I purchased the explicit version of the CD "Fly or Die" by N.E.R.D. at a store and had ripped it to my iTunes library. I wanted to get the proper cover art for the album so I created an iTunes account and then used the "Get Album Artwork" feature for a song on the CD. However, the cover art given to me was not the artwork with the "parental advisory" sign on it. I know this seems like a minor detail, but what bothers me most is that iTunes offers both cover art for the explicit version and the clean version of the CD and even though I have the explicit version I am stuck with the clean version's artwork. What puzzled me even more was the cover art's hue given to me from iTunes looked different from the version that can be seen in the iTunes store. You can notice this if you look at both covers from the iTunes store and then use the "Get Album Work" yourself. I don't know if this is a glitch within the system but I was wondering how I can get the explicit version's cover art now that iTunes offers ALL of their cover art and I had created an iTunes account based on this feature.
I have also noticed difficulty getting the explicit version of an album's cover art for many other CDs I have in my iTunes library. Is there a way to access them because I keep recieving the clean versions even though both should be available. My tracks are even named exactly like the explicit versions in the iTunes store. I hope something can be done about this and would appreciate a response whenever information about these subjects have been figured out.

Allistair Hart: I appreciate your investigation but I don't quite understand your results. Are you saying that you were able to access the "Fly or Die" explicit album art by using the "Get Album Art" feature or were you only talking about viewing it from the iTunes store? The iTunes store by the way DOES have both the explicit and clean versions of the album.
Nathan C: At first I tried searching for the album art based on the information I already had labeled for each track. That didn't work so I set my song information exactly the same as the way iTunes listed it but that didn't work either. Finally I labeled the song with the word "explicit" after it (I tried putting it after the album title, artist, and song title, using several combinations) but that also didn't work.

  • Having problems with Album Art

When I transfer music to my Pre the album art only shows up in "photos", there are no thumbnails in the "music" card. The pre seems to automatically make 3 extra copies too, so If I transfer an album to my music foler, not only will I get no thumbnail in my music, but I will get 4 copies of the album cover in my photos. Anybody help with this?

How are you transferring your music? Are you using a sync program like DoubleTwist, an older version of iTunes, or dragging & dropping your music manually?

  • Non-iTunes downloaded songs are becoming corrupted, starting with album art

I have Windows Vista, and I just got a new refurbished iPod touch 64gb 5th gen.
For some reason, songs that I have downloaded (not from iTunes) are becoming corrupted?? some are even old songs I have downloaded months ago but most of this seems to be with songs stuff I haven downloaded recently. This literally just happened yesterday. The album art is showing up on iTunes as half downloaded or with a broken, glitchy bar after I sync to my iPod. Then, most of those songs are corrupted, making those skipping noises in the song. What is even stranger is that most of these messed up songs are ONLY messed up on iTunes, on my iPod they're fine, but then some of them get corrupted on both. I use a "Passport" EXTERNAL hard drive, could there be a problem with that?? Everything I have downloaded is saved to that external hard drive and like I said, even some of the old songs I downloaded months, even years ago are having the album art problem and some of them the sound quality corruption.
I tried restarting and re downloading iTunes hitting the "repair" option, but I think this may be the external hard drives problem?
Does anyone know what I should do? Am I asking this question in the correct place?

I can't seem to get album art to download into some of my songs. I compare my song information with the information that's in the iTunes music store & it matches word for word but it won't download the art. I can understand if iTunes didn't have the album but they do & the art wont download at all. I click "get album art" so many times & nothing shows up.

  • Problem with album art... Please help

Hello, I put all my album art on all my songs which took forever last week. I updated my ipod last week and everything was all right with the album art on it. I updated it today, but now, all my album art on my ipod the same picture. On itunes, though, the album art is correct. How can I fix this without having to re-do my whole library!?? I updated my Ipod software and downloaded the latest itunes. Please help me.. Thanks so much in advance...

The easy quick thing to do IF the album art work is correct on iTUnes, is to just reset the iPod by holding down the center button and menu, if that doesn't work use the latest iPod updater (2006-03-23) and just restore it
Restore will wipe the iPod clean, but you can just sync it again with iTUnes and have everything loaded back on and hopfully with the correct art

  • Difficulties with Album Art+Organization

When I import an entire album (in this case an example is the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack) most every song in this album appears in it's own seperate album category when I display my music collection with the album or coverflow view.
Because of this--my songs are grouped in the order of the seemingly random album they are in, not in the order they were originally imported and meant to be in.
Does this make sense to anyone? And if so I could use any help anyone has to give me. Thanks! (I can do a better job describing this if someone doesn't understand)

Same problem here on a first generation ipod touch. Beyond the Genius mix ar replacing album art, video thumbnails have replaced album art on various random albums. And Podcast art has been missing and or wonky for even longer.
I found an old solution to remove the art cache from an ipod but it dosn't seem to exist anymore.
Help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • My ipod shuffle control works better with album art installed

For years I've been somewhat laxed about installing any form of album artwork when it was not readily available. I recently installed some sort of artwork for every album, playlist or song on my iPod. If I could not find the album, I just pasted an acceptable image. I noticed an unbelievable difference in the shuffle song selections immediatly. There are songs and even one of my bird call sound clips that are included in the shuffle selections that would never play in years past. The results were the same on both of our 80g and160g iPods. Use to be I'd get a little frustrated at some of the songs thinking that I'd heard that song sequence somewhere in the past. Each IPod holds over 8000 songs so it was hard to really tell. Now, the shuffle selections are the way I'd always wanted but could never seem to achieve. I never considered linking the artwork with the shuffle song selection capabilities but it made a huge difference. Both my wife and I noticed it immediately. Not sure if anyone has had a similar experience?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
You don't need to put the album art under Photos on the iPod. They just need to be in iTunes with the correct song.

  • Problems with Album Art flow

I have Windows Vista, and it's on an excellent machine, (for example) I can run Oblivion on the highest graphical specs with no lag. However, my iTunes cover art, or my album art is slow, even when there is no album art. I tried reinstalling itunes and I've tried searching the internet for help, but I haven't seen any answers.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have the same problem and I don't think he's talking about the loading time for the library to show up... I have 6982 songs, around 20 videos and around 500 pics. It always worked fine and cover flow was very fast. I still have the same number of files but itunes is sluggish and even video playback gets chopped. I updated my iTunes to 7.5 from 7.3.2.6. to try to fix this. I installed directshow video codec package and I'm not sure if that was what caused the problem in the first place or meybe a new install of Office. I uninstalled all codecs and new plugins in my system. What could it be?
