Issues with Audio

Hello, I'm Having an Issue with my Audio in AE. When I try to Shift-RAM preview my footage  It doesn't play any of the audio from the Footage. The video itself plays fine, but no audio. When I ad it to render que and publish it, it plays audio.
For the record, the footage is not muted, and if I put in just an audio clip it plays it fine.
Thanks!
Jason

Have you really checked that the audio is not muted under Shift+Ram Preview Options? It has to look like the right image.
I'm just asking again because when it's muted and you scrub the timeline with control key pressed down you get audio even when it's muted in the Preview window !
and don't push the play button (plays without audio) push the RamPreview button |||> (the one on the right side)
If you did everything right and still have no audio then take a look into Preferences/Audio Hardware and change the audio driver or the sample size buffer to see if that helps.
The default 'Sample Size Buffer' value for the driver 'After Effects WDM Sound' is 2048.
If that don't help - I'm out of answers
Good luck

  • Experiencing issues with audio scrubbing in Premiere cc 2014

Since upgrading I've been having issues with audio scrubbing in Premiere CC 2014.
Some of the time it won't scrub at all (silence) when I know that scrubbing option is turned on. Other times it will scrub the wrong section of the timeline, I'll hear dialogue from a different point in a clip.
Much of the time I experience this I'm working with multicam clips in sequences.
Working on iMac 2013, 32GB RAM, NVIDIA 780
    thank you.

Also had no Intensity Pro external monitor which worked fine the day before. Restarted PC and still nothing so starting poking around with the playback settings in preferences by choosing Adobe Desktop audio in the audio device section choosing OK then selecting back to Blackmagic audio then hit Ok. All of a sudden there was my external monitor and was able to scrub audio again. It's like it's sleeping knowing it should work until you poke it a few times to wake it up. How my Intensity Pro external monitor and scrubbing audio being related in any way is perplexing. Or am I being obtuse?
I would contact Blackmagic Design to make sure your drivers are current. Can you try that?

  • CS5.5--Issues with audio from imported avi's & issues exporting

    To Start, my laptop:
    CPU: Intel® Core ™ i7-2330QM CPU @ 2.00 GHz
    CPU Clock Frequency: 2.00 GHz
    System Memory: 8 GBytes
    Cache Memory: 1 MBytes/6 Mbytes
    Manufacturer: Sony Corporation
    Model name: VPCF226FM
    BIOS VERSION: R1190V#
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
    ME Version: 7.0.10.1203
    System Type: 64-bit Operating System
I downloaded the 30-day free trial of Premiere Pro CS5.5 with all updates.  To play with the program, for my own personal amusement, I wanted to edit together pieces from a bunch of avi videos that I know to play properly outside the program, tested on more than one computer.
At first, importing the files seemed to be no problem, making subclips as I went along.
However, as I continued to import files, there began to be a sound issue--sometimes the sound not being present till I was 1/3 of the way through the clip, sometimes the sound seemingly playing catch up with audio that should be earlier in the video appearing later, sometimes the sound wouldn't come up at all, and still other times I'd be, for example, on video 5 when pieces of audio from video 2 would start playing over the current video.
I initially thought it may just be a memory issue, working with many large video files.
But later, when I went to edit the subclips I made, I found that many of them no longer had sound, even if they did when I initially subclipped them.
Weirdly, in the timeline, there is no consistency, as clips will appear in the video track but only some show audio tracks too.  But those with audio tracks don't always play audio and those that show NO audio tracks at all actually do play audio sometimes.  Also, those that show audio tracks and don't play them sometimes will show waveforms, sometimes don't.  A clip with no waveform may not play 95% of the time, but then occasionally will suddenly have the waveform and play a couple times before reverting back to no audio.
A suitable solution for this personal amusement project would just be to drop a new soundtrack over the thing but, before I even got that far, I tried exporting as avi's and mpeg4's but then get error messages such as:
Premiere Pro has encountered an error.
    [..\..\Src\Win\WinFile.cpp-785]
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
In case it was a memory issue, I tried starting a new project, only importing 2 videos, but had the same audio and exporting issues.
I'm getting really frustrated as I spent a lot of time importing/subclipping and then even more time prepping before that.
For those who are bound to ask, while new to Premiere, I'm not a novice with editing.  I've used Final Cut Pro at work for many years (without such issues).

  • Issue with Audio books on my 4s

I'm having issue playing audio books on my iPhone 4s or my ipad mini. I'm running the latest ios on both.
When I attempt to play the audio books on iTunes it works fine, yet when I transfer it to my iPhone it will play up to a point then the audio just ends yet it shows it's still playing. I've tried 3 different audio books and it's always does it at the same point.
Is it a ios issue or is it a problem with all my audio books, they were fine when I listened to them on my iPhone under ios 6...... The audio books were bought through iTunes.

Look at the file extension of one of the audiobooks you're talking about. If it ends with *.m4p then it reads as music in the Ipod. Follow the path "MyDocument, MyMusic, ITunes and in your ITunes folder change the extension to *.m4b then reload it into your Ipod. That should do the trick. I downloaded a ton of "This American Life" from ITunes and that was the problem.

Does somebody know if they're working on an Update to fix the issue with the Audio quality ?
I don't want to bother the support and have to wait a long time for an answer.

So I noticed the problem with the app iHeart Radio. While listening to the app, it would stop playing without any noticeable issues. For example, I'm on a WiFi network, operating it where I normally had no issues. I deleted the app because if became so annoying. I now notice the same issues with podcast app when playing back a downloaded program. Also, more than a few times of the day Siri will just randomly open. I am wondering what options do I have to discover the problem. COuld it be the most recent IOS update? I don't want to have to restore an old backup and loose data.

  • Having an issue with Audio Capture...

    Hello all.
I've written an applet that captures audio, plays the audio back, posts the audio stream to a server, and retrieves it from a server.
It is working great on Windows XP Professional, but I'm having some issues on XP Home edition.
The captured audio on XP Home contains quite a bit of static.
When attempting to post the captured audio to the server on XP Home, the request hangs.
I think this has something to do with the encoding of the character stream coming from the sound card/operating system.
    Here is my encoding information:
    float sampleRate = 8000.0F;
    int sampleSizeInBits = 8;
    int channels = 1
    boolean bigEndian = false;
    return new AudioFormat(AudioFormat.Encoding.PCM_SIGNED,
    sampleRate, sampleSizeInBits, channels,
    sampleSizeInBits/8, sampleRate, bigEndian);
Has anyone encountered this issue before? Do I need to run an encoding algorithm before posting the audio to the server?
Thanks in advance and Hello from Arizona.

  • Stutter...issues with audio/video...and this is a common glitch?

Okay...sorry to start another thread, but I don't want what I'm coming to understand to get buried in another thread, as I'm getting at the gist of this now I think.
My experience of my 55 minute movie getting dogged down, out of sync, video freezing and such...(after reading the link Karl provided) seems to infer that this is a common problem and one that is frustrating quite a few Mac/iMovie owners. I read over the number of threads on "stutter" and should I buy a stand alone Intel Duo 2 Core computer with iMovie6 and Final Cut Express loaded... I'm likely to have the same problem regardless, because this seems to be an issue and bug...
It was something else reading members suggesting to "try this"..."try that"...export the film back to the digital camera but in small portions. Turn small sections into Quicktime...and then try to load them into iDVD as chapters. Good grief.
If I've got the money allocated to me to purchase this new Intel...plus an external hard drive...I'm wondering why not instead invest in Adobe Premier 2.0 and Adobe Encore DVD for our PC's in the PC lab? We already have Adobe Photoshop 7.0 on those anyway..and it must be a good program as Apple goes, as I understand Adobe is making a future come back with this software for Mac.
Any thoughts why THAT direction might not be the best way to go?
I can't see trying to teach my kids to play this jump around try this...try that game with iMovie if this "stutter" thing is as common as I was reading.
You know...life gets a little this versus that. Harley folks versus the Honda. Chevy versus the Ford....but, we have both a Mac and a PC lab. I'm an artist and teacher and only interested in what's going to work...so, I share that not because I am biased one way or the other. I'm looking for solutions and don't want the school board and administration breathing down my back...if you know what I mean... $$$$$$
    thanks

    I've heard it said a couple times (me...I wouldn't
know as I'm somewhat a newbie to this stuff), but
that iMovie is kinda a basic fun level not too
serious video editing software. Good for your 3-6
minute YouTube variety videos, but not more
professional. Then again, I read one member here
saying they produced a six hour video with 400 still
images. Didn't say what they had for sound though.
People say lots of things about iMovie, sometimes with little or no knowledge. Suggesting that iMovie can handle only 3-6 minute movies is an example.
iMovie can do lots of things, but iMovie isn't a professional application so there are things it can't do. You can't create a multi-layer video clip, for example, where one video image slides across another behind it. But you CAN create multiple (static) layers of video in QuickTime Pro — which every serious iMovie user should have, in my opinion — and import that clip to iMovie. So if you want a picture-in-picture effect, you can have it in iMovie.
The success of a movie made with iMovie depends more on creativity and knowledge of the software than anything else. And like any application, you gotta learn the bugs, and how to deal with them.
Don't forget the huge advantage iMovie offers: the learning curve is not nearly as long or steep as professional editors. If you want to spend most of your time teaching about the software, use a professional application. If you want to spend your time teaching about making great movies, iMovie may be a very good choice.
One thing I haven't done is to look over my Sonar 3
music producing software for which we record music.
You know how it is...you get into this routine that
works again and again, and mindlessly I just save to
wav. format. I'll have to look...but I'm sure there
are any number of audio formats that could be burned
as voiceovers. Not familiar with AIFF...
AIFF is one of many audio formats supported by QuickTIme, the system software iMovie is based on. It is the audio format used by commercial audio CDs. It's what iMovie uses too. Any audio file you import to iMovie is (automatically) converted to AIFF. The audio of all video imported from a video camera is converted to AIFF.
Some audio files convert better than others. Sometimes non-AIFF songs imported from iTunes convert poorly, for example, and can cause stutter. I suspect it has to do with the compression of those files by iTunes, but I don't know that for sure.
I take it AIFF must be a bit like a .gif or .jpeg
photo image over a large .TIFF image? Condensed and
smaller. Is there much detectable noticeable
    difference in quality?
Actually, AIFF is like the .TIFF image. It's the large, high-quality audio format.
Now...also Karl, you say you've never seen this
problem so...it could be that we'd clear this issue
simply by getting a stand alone machine and external
drive...but unless perhaps I go about producing my
audio tracks differently...we might still have the
    same problems.
No, if the number of audio clips is causing the stutter, a standalone machine may not prevent it.
Have you tried moving your iMovie project to your local machine and testing it for stutter? That should provide a clue whether stutter is caused by, made worse by, or not affected by the network.
What...do most people use some kind of microphone
plugged into the computer to make voice overs?
Yes. Our voiceovers are automatically added to the iMovie project as AIFF files.
For voiceovers I use a simple Radio Shack combo headphone/mic plugged into a Griffin iMic, plugged into a USB port. Total cost: about $60.
With a professional studio, I can remove silence
noise, master sound and so forth. Garageband does
    all that quite easily?
Sorry, no idea. (I don't use GarageBand.)
You've not heard much about the "stutter" issue...I
think it was oe of the posts where I was advised to
check out a link. When I searched "stutter" I got a
feeling for what others are doing, but no real SIMPLE
solution seemed to have been resolved to go about
dealing with it. Certainly nothing that I could
realistically teach HS students. They need a user
    friendly option pure and simple.
I agree you need a user friendly solution. But the first step is to figure out what's causing the problem. then decide whether that's going to be a common problem in your lab. If the stutter you see is caused by having 100 audio clips in the project, but 99% of your projects have fewer than 80, it won't be a big problem. You can use a workaround if/when stutter occurs on the occasional project. (I wouldn't want to waste lots of time teaching workarounds, it doesn't hurt for students to learn a bit about workarounds too.)
One last thing...you mention "exporting the audio
clips" and then "importing them back" to convert to
    AIFF...
you are doing this right from iMovie..and then what
or where are you doing this conversion?
Yes, it's all done in iMovie. iMovie lets us export the audio from a portion of the Timeline to an AIFF file, then re-import it.
The large "stutter topic" linked to earlier describes Workaround 4, how to combine audio clips.
Here's a link to that workaround:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2597029&#2597029
If that link doesn't work, click on the "more options" link above the search box on this page. Then do this:
Search for: +WORKAROUND +"combine audio clips"
    Forum: All
    Date: All

That message is part of the much longer "stutter thread". If you haven't read the first message of that thread, you should. It describes how to test your project to learn whether the number of audio clips is causing stutter.
You mentioned you are importing .wav files to the iMovie project. That MAY be causing the problem. iMovie converts them to AIFF, and like a few iTunes songs, it's possible that conversion isn't going well. You need to rule it out as the cause. Your audio software should let you create AIFF files too.

  • LogicX - Maverick - Sample Rate issue with Audio Interface

As a test prior to updating my Mac Pro and iMac, I loaded ML so I could test out LogicX.  I've been running Logic 9 either using the built in audio or a Line6 guitar Port.  The MBP is a late 2009, non retina, 13 in with 4 GB Ram.  As compared to my iMac, the laptop can barely play back my tracks which are mostly software instruments (I don't record audio until the midi arrangements are finalized).
So, I updated to ML to try out X and of course, had to deal with the 32 bit plugin issue.  Luckily, 32 Lives and Vienna helped out with 90% of my plugins.
Now, I updated to MAV and had to go through an arduous process of re validating the AU plugins for both Logic 9 and X.
After doing so, I loaded up a song that did have a single bass audio track.  I updated the Guitar Port driver from Line 6 to the latest driver.  The song will start, but then I get a stuttering and an error message about running the audio at a weird sample rate, eg 28654.  I tried using the built in audio and same issue.
I opened the song in Logic 9 and it works.
Any suggestions?  Do you think one of the resurrected plugins is causing this problem?  Everything worked OK in ML though.
    Thanks and appreciate any help.

Let me start over ... the typical audio setting that FCP works with is 48khz, 16 bit stereo. If you check the sequence settings, it will probably show that to be the case unless you've created a sequence with other settings. The audio of any clip you bring into FCP really needs to match the sequence settings. To check the sequence settings go to Sequence->Settings.
So far, you've confirmed the clip is 48khz sampling rate but you didn't say what it's bit depth was. In FCP, right click on the clip and select "Item Properties." That will tell you the information I've been asking about.

  • Issue with Audio

    Here is my issue:
I am an editing a video clip from my summer vacation and I added music to it along with the voices of my friends and I. Anyway, Song A works completely fine, I can hear it and it works...when it gets to Song B, it works at first then starts freaking out and makes popping noises from the speakers (this is not part of the song, the song plays find in the preview, not in the timeline). After the popping noise happens in Song B, all my audio for my entire laptop is screwed up and requires me to plug in head phones, turn on audio, then unplug the headphones while the audio is still on. This fixes it until Song B plays again...
Any help here? This is also the newest version of Final Cut Pro (with Final Cut Studio).

  • Issue with Audio Playback and Uninterrupted Playback in MPE (Hardware Mode)

I'm currently using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 with the latest update (6.0.1).
I'm encountering a very serious problem where the audio from my video clips mute sudddenly when I'm editing and playing back. This happens when other music or audio in the audio lanes (tracks) below that particular 'video clip audio' plays just fine. It literally mutes without any parameter change. This only happens to some of the clips while some plays back normally. I have to reopen my project to fix this and after 30 or 40 minutes of editing it happens again.
And the Source monitor blacks out when it do edits while I'm playing back video. (It's really disappinting when the most anticipated feature in Premiere CS6 fails to work in my computer) I'm editing in the MPE Hardware Mode and if I switch back to MPE Software mode this problem goes away.
My Camera is a Canon XF300 and I'm using the 50 Mb/s MXF 422 format. I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the camera because the clips work just fine in CS5.5
    My System Specs are;

When i cut a part of audo region or close the end by draging bottom corner of region,it play anyway on empty space
    Any ideas?

or.. did you mean that after you've cut audio, and you hit play, you still hear something playing even when visually, the timeline bar shows that there should be silence at that point? if so, this could be something to do with plug in delay compensation.. the visual representation of your arrange window is slightly out of sync with what you are hearing. I think I've seen this happen before in logic under certain conditions, but I'm not sure exactly when. it could be something to do with PDC as I mentioned, so look into that.
