Issues with Bootcamp.

I have a Macbook Pro, and I'm having issues with Bootcamp. I have the Home Edition of Windows 7 that I just bought, the full copy. I've ran Bootcamp and created a partition, and when I attempt to install Windows 7 it says that none of the "Partitions" are able to be used because Windows needs a NTPS. I downloaded NTPS-3G and created a partition on my own, under NTPS. I added Windows on that, and now when I try and run windows, all I get is a black screen. It says that it must restart when installing it, so I let it, and it just goes back to the black screen. Help please?

Three suggestions:
1. Read the Boot Camp Installation Guide
2. Visit the Boot Camp forum here https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp
3. Use Boot Camp Assistant to create the Boot Camp partition not a third party utility

  • The infamous RAM issue with bootcamp

Sp, I have seen a lot of threads about RAM issues when using bootcamp.
I'm about to install Windows XP SP 3 using bootcamp - how much RAM will be utilized when using my windows partition?
I have a MBP 2.33 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 3 GB RAM and Radeon X 1600 256 mb RAM.
    Looking forward to your responses.
    Thanks

This is not so much an issue with Bootcamp as it is an issue with Windows. On any machine, Mac or PC, Windows will only recognize approximately 3GB of RAM. The only Windows Operating Systems that are capable of going higher are the 64-bit OS choices. So, if and when you upgrade your MacBook Pro to 4GB of RAM, Windows will still only see 3GB. Just a heads-up.

  • Issues with bootcamp the downloading and burning of WIndows support disks

    Hi all,
Having real problems with bootcamp, loading XP professional all goes well, apart from the start of the process, where you are asked to download the windows support files.
Go through the process of downloading but system will not burn these to a CD or DVD nor will it get saved to an external USB device.
Also if I go to the Apple website and down load the new windows drivers pack, the .exe file just refuses to run.
I have installed XP but cannot get the drivers for my Macbook Pro 13, I am running 10.6.7 OSX so wondering where I am going wrong. If I am now get page cannot be found on the apple website for the drivers
Safari can’t open the page “http://wsidecar.apple.com/cgi-bin/nph-reg3rdpty2.pl/product=18808&cat=59&platfor m=osx&method=sa/BCUpdateXP.exe” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again.
    Any help greatlyfully accepted

Windows XP is not supported on your MBP, neither is Vista, buy a copy of Windows 7

  • Issues with BootCamp and mounted windows 8 install disk

I've been trying to install Windows 8 from a mounted Windows 8 System Builder install disk. When I mount the ISO and try to use bootcamp to install windows 8 the bootcamp application will not recognize the install disk I have mounted. Any issues? I've also attempted to install the disk on USB with no luck. The reason I need the mounted ISO is because my DVD drive is busted. I created ISO on a friends macbook pro by using disk utility. I have the dmg file, cdr file, and iso file but have had no luck with any of them. Can anyone help? I'd really like not to have to have to buy an external DVD drive.

Google is your friend. Easy? Probably not but it appears doable. Proceed at your own risk.

  • Issue with Bootcamp 5.0 and Windows 7: Ultimate 64-Bit Install

HERE are the specifications of my iMac.
I am trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64x on a 150GB partition i created using bootcamp 5.0.  I get to the point where it finalizes the windows setup, and then it says "Setup Up Desktop for first use" or something of that nature, it restarts then, and goes straight to a black screen with a black cursor.  I have tried to get to the BIOS to change the boot order (thinking it may be something to do with the boot order) but I won't even let me access that!  Any fixes would help a lot!!
I was using parallels before this, but I want a seperate partition so I can play games that are too high demanding (graphics wise) to run in a VM, the crash on start every time. Some run, but very choppily.
Also, I am running the latest edition of mountain Lion if that helps...

  • Are their still overheating issues with bootcamp running windows 7?

I am wanting to do a little gaming on my mac, but saw plenty of forums pre 2010 about Macs overheating when running windows 7 and even XP. I have a Mid 2012 macbook pro with Intel HD 4000 and a 2.5 Ghz I5 processor, I was wondering if there has been any updates to macs or bootcamp that quells the overheating, and would my mac still be susceptible to this problem?

No changes because the problem is there is no fan control software for Windows that works with the Mac hardware.

  • ACPI Issue with Bootcamp

I just got a new mid-2012 13" MacBook Pro ($1499 model).  Last night, Windows 7 crashed and Event Viewer showed the following error:
: The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly.
    How do I fix this?

  • Issues with bootcamp partition. Please help!

So I got the error that some files could not be moved when I tried partitioning my harddrive. I downloaded SuperDuper! and copied my disk to an external 500gb hard drive. I reformated my disk and my drive to Mac OS X Extended (Journaled). I felt confident that I had it, but upon partitioning my disk again I read the same error. What do I do? I read in another topic that I need to restore my disk once I back it up, but what do I set as source and destination? Help in concise, easy to understand directions would be greatly appreciated.

You replied to yourself, so I guess that means you didn't read or digest, or perhaps look at the pdf manual for SuperDuper.

  • Is it possible to update itunes without getting Mavericks? I have an issue with my iPhone.

I recently updated to ios8.0.2 for my iphone 5s. And now when I plug it into my macbook, itunes prompts me to update itunes because ios8 apparently doesn't allow me to sync the previous version of itunes. But the new itunes requires updating to Mavericks, which I really DO NOT want to do, mostly because I do run Bootcamp a lot and start up in windows from time to time. I've heard people  having issues with bootcamp and Mavericks, like having to re install Windows/Parallels/etc. and I am not ready for that mess. I don't have access to my windows 7 serial number anymore (it was given to me by a teacher awhile back with whom I don't have contact with anymore). I'm just ultimately trying to avoid screwing up bootcamp/windows, losing files, and having to purchase windows if the worst case scenario happens.
I considered just using itunes in windows, but on the windows side of things, itunes wont give me the notification/option to transfer all my purchases from my iphone, so there goes that. If there is a solution to just transferring purchases, I'd much rather go that route than the mess of mavericks.

after upgrading to mountain lion i keep getting an error message saying my startup disc is full. it shouldnt be full because there is barely anything on there and i was running windows with bootcamp prior to this with no issues. my computer now freezes and programs close randomly. The usual command for opening windows with bootcamp doesnt work. once in restarted my computer after it froze and it rebooted in windows automatically. i really just want to know if there is a way to take the upgrade off my laptop because it is very annoying.

    Hi Memalyn
Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.
    Matt

  • My MacBook Pro 13" (2012) is running Windows 7 on Bootcamp and there is an issue with the headset I'm using.

My MacBook Pro 13" (2012) is running Windows 7 on Bootcamp and there is an issue with the headset I'm using. I use a cheap Logitech Stereo Headset H130, but since there is only on audio plugin on the computer, I purchased a 3.5 mm 4-pin smartphone audio adapter thingy. That allowed me to put both my the sound coming to my headset & the microphone on my headset onto one wire. Everything worked wonderfully when running the Mac OS since they probably have support for that kind of stuff. The problem is though that once I try to use the same method in Windows 7, the OS doesn't recognize my headset microphone at all, but, instead when recording my voice decides to use the built-in mac microphone. Using this adapter still allows me to hear from my headset, but not use the microphone and that becomes a problem. It might be so that Windows 7 doesn't have support\drivers for that... How should I continue from here on out? Any advice?

From what I have read from others on here you may be out of luck. You would need the appropriate Windows drivers for the Cirrus chip in the Mac and no one has been able to successfully locate them. Apple wouldn't support this since Windows is an optional install.
Sorry to bring the bad news.

  • Bootcamp windows 8.0 pro installation issue with early 2015 Macbook Pro

I am having this issue with installing Windows 8.0 pro (and 8.1 pro) on my early 2015 MacBook pro vs. Bootcamp. I have tried different method for  multiple times and all failed. Any help is appreciated.
Hardware: (1) early 2015 MacBook Pro with 128GB (13 inches) , (2) Sony USB DVD burner. (3) Two 16 gb flash drive 2.0 version from two different manufactures
Software: (1) 8.0 Pro ISO on flash drive from Microsoft (I have two copies) (2) 8.1 Pro downloaded from Microsoft website.
Note -  I was able to download the bootcamp supporting files successfully and copy to a USB flash drive.
Method 1 - Create the installation disk from ISO on flash drive and also tried copying ISO on hard drive (desktop)- failed.
    I have a 16 GB flash drive (2.0V) connected
ISO is a valid 8.0 pro copy from Microsoft came on a flash drive.
I have the windows 8.0 pro ISO on a flash drive and plugged in.
Issue -  It gets to around 50% of "Copying Windows files..." and then doesn't go any further.  8 hours later, still stuck at around 50%.  I also tried to do the copy ISO from desktop. failed as well.
Method 2 - I repeat the above steps with Windows 8.1 ISO downloaded Microsoft website - failed. Stuck at 50% copying windows file for 9 hours.
Method 3 - I burned the Windows 8.0 pro ISO to a DVD and try to do the installation through a DVD instead.  DVD was successfully created.
I was able to perform the partition.  When the computer reboots, it starts the window installation. However, it got stuck at 7% forever. I tried this multiple times and failed.
Method 4 - I download a 8.1 Pro ISO from Microsoft website, I burned it to a DVD. Repeat method 3,  Again, windows installation stuck at 7%.
Method 5 - I called Apple. - What they told me is pretty much repeat the above steps. Still failed.

The ISO file(s) being downloaded seem to be corrupted. Can you use Microsoft FCIV tool - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/841290?wa=wsignin1.0 ?
The DVDs should be burnt at the recommended rate for the physical media. DU should be used for burning the DVDs.

  • Issues using macbook with bootcamp and external apple monitor

I am having issues using an apple external monitor connected to my macbook with bootcamp - in particular, if i connect the monitor to the computer when the computer is already on, it won't work. Also, when i disconnect the monitor fromt he computer, the computer screen will go black and I'll have to re-start
Anybody experienced the same and can help?
    Thx

just make sure that while its standing on its side there aren't any plugs or cables on that side. I'm not familiar with the mb port setup, but having power, two usb, and a display cable could prose a problem for sideward standing if they are on separate sides of the machine.
as the first commenter mentioned the orientation of your computer is irrelevant, but you wouldn't want to have the weight of the laptop sitting ontop of a usb or video plug that's coming out the side.
