Issues with Converted Project

Hello,
We have an HTML project that was written using RoboHelp 7.
The Primary Output/Layout is Microsoft HTML Help (.chm file). Our
office recently downloaded a trial version of RH 8 and we tried
opening the project with the new version (yes we have backup copies
of the project!). Upon opening the project and checking it over,
we've noticed odd problems with the color of the hyperlinks
changing without selecting them (all of the hyperlinks and
bookmarks appear to change to the default purple color in a topic
by clicking on another topic and then clicking back to the first
topic), and little red square boxes appearing where a Shift/Enter
was used.
My concern is that the project had had to be rewritten when
we got RoboHelp 7 and converted from RoboHelp 4. At the time, when
we first opened the project in RH 7, we found corruption in text
and bullets that were gigantic. After trying to correct/resolve
these issues without success, we made a decision to recreate the
project from scratch.
Can anyone shed some light on what is happening or what we
are doing wrong? We've not had this problem with our Webhelp
(Primary Output Layout) projects.
Thank you,

  • Issues with converting to PDF and zoom size

    I've created a Captivate file and converted this to Adobe PDF - when we have tested the output we notice a white edge on the left and bottom side of the document and encounter issues with 'zoom' on pdf - when its 100% its fine (apart from the white edge), but when we reduce the zoom it covers the project and exposes only a small amount of it.
    Any ideas?

  • Captivate 4 issues with aggregate project

    Ok... Here's the situation my parent's went away on a weeks vacation..
    Sorry. Just had a 90's flashback.
    I created a custom skin for use with my project. I test out when I publish my individual files and it works fine.
    When I combine files into an aggregate project, I lose my top and right border...
    PLEASE HELP ME
    I need this for branding purposes. I created a custom border.
    Thanks

    Yikes. That's not good.
    I don't know of any specific upgrade bug but there's definitely bugs living under the hood of Captivate in general.
    Two approaches for handling these sorts of issues:
    1. Copy all slides in your CP file, create a new blank project, paste in the slides.
    or
    2. Create a new blank project and import all the slides from the previous project.
    Whether you want to do this in CP3 then upgrade, or do the upgrade from the original CP3 file then do either of those steps in the new CP4 file, up to you.
    Were it me, I'd do 1 or 2 above in the CP3 file - trying to get as 'clean a source as I can, then convert and see how it goes.
    But overall, regardless of how well it works for you, you may well have to go through and do some housecleaning.
    However, I would not expect you to see these types of errors that are likely not things you can 'clean'...?
    Something to try. Good luck!

  • Long list of issues with CP5 project

    I've been working on a project for the past few weeks and its nearing completion. A couple of things have happened which seem to have completely messed up the project. On the surface all looks well but when you actually use it, major usability issues emerge. I've listed the problems below. Would appreciate any advice if possible. Am using CP5 (latest update applied) on an XP pc.
    1. Throughout the project development I've been publishing to html to test it. All was working fine until I decided to trial a scorm export. When I selected Quiz Preferences to enable scorm reporting, CP locked up. I was then presented with the top strip of the Preferences menu window with the rest missing. This was a blue strip which ran right across the screen and onto my second monitor. I couldn't close it or escape it, or select anything beneath. So I had to force quit, no choice really.
    2. After the force quit I restarted CP and managed to enable scorm reporting. I tested an export (to zip), deployed on my Moodle site and all worked fine. I then noticed I needed to change a few details so went ahead and made these (all I added was a title for the scorm manifest). When I exported again, I ran into problems with my embedded flv videos, saying they were corrupt (which they weren't). I eventually got round this by exporting the zip to its own folder (had been exporting to the main folder containing the CP project file... obviously not a good thing). The exported scorm file is about 74MB.
    3. After all the above issues with the videos were sorted, I tested the scorm export and immediately ran into a whole rang of problems. Every single object that had a fade in & out affect had to have it removed as they were greyed out. My embedded videos were barely visable, looking like they'd been set to a 20% opacity in Pshop. Could still be played though, if you could find the play button. The opening slide decided to immediately fade once the scorm pack launched, despite never setting to do anything of the sort. I had to take a copy of another slide and recreate the front slide, then delete the old one. This seems to have fixed that issue. Now my final slide (which follows on from a Quiz Result slide) has decided to do an immediate fade in & out, so you can't read the text. Again I never told it to do that. All objects on the page have effects/transitions off but this hasn't had any affect at all.
    4. I have also found a very very odd pattern of behaviour with Click boxes used as links to web sites. I have 8 links on a slide (text boxes with text blue colour & click boxes overlaying). Clicking on the 1st two links works fine, opens them in a new window. Clicking on the 3rd, nothing happens. A 2nd click loads the web page. When you close it you find yourself on the next slide and have to go back. The same pattern occurs for the next 3 links. Very very odd.
    5. The other really annoying problem is with my next & back buttons. If I navigate through the package and then click back a few slides (or even go back 1 slide), I can't go forward again. I have to refresh the page. I've also found if I go back to the opening slide its greys outs completely, nothings visable. Again you have to guess when the next button is to move forward. The nav buttons are simple set to "go to next slide" and ticked infinite. This problem completely ruins the who package making it unuseable.
    I'm starting to think something has corrupted my project. If its not that then its CP being buggy. One thing I do know is its one of the most sluggish Adobe apps I've ever used. If I can't fix these issues the course won't be useable and I'll have to start from scratch with something else.

    Hi there. Welcome to the forum.  Sounds like you've had a bad day.
    Since no one else has chimed in yet, I'm going to suggest that you get rid of your Preferences file and let Captivate regenerate this, just in case it resolves some of the glitches.  This preference file can get corrupted and cause all kinds of weird behaviour.  So what I'm suggesting here might sound a bit radical but it's often proven to be successful for Cp weirdness issues.
    Here's an explanation I've copied from another post by the eminent Captiv8tr:
    You might try clobbering the preferences file. If you look in the following location, you should find the file named captivate_40.dat. Just Close Captivate, delete the file and restart Captivate.
    To locate this file, right-click your Start button and choose Explore. This should easily get you in the general area. If you look at the parent folder you should see Application Data. (you may need to configure Windows Explorer to show you this folder) Inside the Application Data folder should be an Adobe folder. And inside the Adobe folder should be the Adobe Captivate folder. And inside this folder should be the file.

  • Project Online, Issue with creating projects from EPTs (with workflows)

    Hello, I am using Project Online. I am not able to create a new project based on the "Software Development" EPT. I get following message: Sorry, something went wrong An unexpected error has occurred. TECHNICAL DETAILS Troubleshoot
    issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation. Correlation ID: 29b2b89c-607f-1000-80c2-80bbbb7ff088 Date and Time: 15.09.2014 03:57:25.
    Any ideas what went wrong?
    Thanks in advance,
    Martina

    The reason for this behavior was the following:<o:p></o:p>
    The currency of the PWA settings have been changed.<o:p></o:p>
    Looking into the queue of the EPT we found the following hint:<o:p></o:p>
    Project:<o:p></o:p>
    ProjectCurrencyConflict (23001). Details: id='23001' name='ProjectCurrencyConflict' uid='f1850fb3-c53c-e411-9a1e-00155d58393b'.<o:p></o:p>
    After changing back to settings "Allow projects to be published in various currencies" the workflow works fine.<o:p></o:p>
    Nevertheless this issue is not clear for us why it appears after a currency change in the workflow. Maybe a sleeping bug?<o:p></o:p>

  • Issue with VS project - Report has remapped fields

    VS 2005, Crystal XI R2
    We recently upgraded a VS project using Crystal reports. The database has changed, with table name and field name changes.
    We used the "set datasource location" to remap the table names and fields. Reports run fine as stand alone.
    But when running from the VB project we have an issue when logon info is applied to the subreports.
    In the standard code to apply logon information to the subreports, this line of code
    Crtable.Location = crConnectionInfo.DatabaseName & ".dbo" + "." + crConnectionInfo.UserID + "." + crConnectionInfo.Password + "." + Crtable.Name
    fails because Crtable.Name resolves to the old table name (ctct) which has been remapped to new table ca_contact using the set datasource location option from Crystal.
    If I comment out this line of code, the reports seem to run fine, sometimes we get prompted for connection info. Once the info is set, the report runs.
    But can I get this line of code to work? is there some way to get Crtable.name to point to the actual table name "ca_contact" and not the old name "ctct" that the table and fields were remapped from?

    Thanks for the reply, but the subreport has been already remapped. I just went back in and double checked.
    I am thinking about writing some code that will be something like
    (pseudo)
    if table = ctct then replace table name with ca_contact
    but there should be a way around this. Even though the table is remapped, it is picking up the old table name alias instead of what it is mapped to.

  • Issues with converted Inkscape SVG files

    I've been downloading a lot of SVG files, most of which were created with Inkscape, from openclipart.org recently. I've had to open them in Illustrator and save them in .ai format before placing them in an InDesign document as InDesign doesn't accept SVG files as a link.
    My problem is that some of these SVG files that I've converted to .ai don't display properly when I place them into InDesign. I can see the bounding box of the linked files, but nothing inside. I'm pretty sure this has only happened with files that I have edited a little after bringing them into Illustrator. The edits haven't been anything major - just changing colours and adding transparency masks here and there as sometimes some of the SVG gradients and mask/transparency effects are lost when I open them with Illustrator.
    I've tried re-saving the SVG files from openclipart.org and doing a save as in Illustrator to force it to reconstruct the file, but with no luck. Here is an example of one of the troublesome SVGs: http://openclipart.org/people/Gerald_G/Gerald_G_Lemon_Variations_2.svg
    Does anyone know why this is happening?

    It seems like restarting InDesign has fixed the issue. Still, I have one particular file which does this every time I try to place it, even after restarting InDesign.

  • Urgent.  Issue with converted .mov files to avi not working in Premiere.

    I am trying to import video files that I have converted from .mov to .avi through OjoSoft Total Video Converter and anytime I try to put a file into the work area, the video goes to Video 1, and Audio goes to Audio 4.  When I try to play it I get no audio, and the video jumps from frame 1 to frame 2.
    Does anyone know a good converter or know the best way to convert and what filetypes to do so?  They work converting them as MP4 video files, but I like avi's better.
    I have tried converting the .mov to mpeg4 and H.264 (Both with audio as MP3).  They will play in Windows Media Player after convert but not in premiere...
    I am running Premiere CS4 on Windows7 with no direct codec packs installed.  I opened a video/audio file that I worked on before with no issues...video/audio run flawlessly in Premiere.
    Please help!

    What are the codecs in the original MOV files and what are the codecs after conversion? Use GSpot to identify them.

  • Hyperlink issues in Converted Project

    I've just recently upgraded to RoboHELP Version 8 to get a better results on the the full text search in WebHelp (the output of our choice). The conversion appeared to go great and I've been happily working away on new content.
    As our developer is still changing screen names etc in the development cycle of a new product, I have been using variables for all screen names so that I only need to change the value in one place when they come up with yet another U-beaut name for the screen. Quite often I would also insert a hyperlink over the variable to another topic.
    Unfortunately, when I had to revisit one of my existing topics I've found that any hyperlink that has been inserted on top of a variable in a table or drop-down seems to have been lost. This means that nearly 75% of my hyperlinking has gone west!
    Has anyone else experienced problems in this area?  I did try searching to problems with Version 8 which brought to light a couple of other little issues that I'll keep an eye on but couldn't see any queries about variables and hyperlinks.
    Regards from sunny Brisbane (Queensland, Australia).

    Hi Kathy
    Indeed sometimes working with variables can seem pesky!
    My initial thought pattern upon reading your issue was that RoboHelp 8 supports formatted variables. This means that your variable may contain a hyperlink. w00t!! Then I had a big ole Homer Simpson style D'OH! moment and smacked myself on the forehead as it occurred to me that if you did that, it would certainly work and preserve the hyperlink but ALL instances of the variable would share the same link destination. And that's likely not the case, eh?
    I just tested this action with my version 8 and found that RoboHelp HTML seemed to work fine to place a hyperlink over a variable. I closed the topic and reopened and it left things intact. I closed the project and reopened and it left things intact.
    Naturally this causes questions to be begged:
    How exactly are you creating the links?
    How exactly are you testing to see that the links are failing?
    Cheers... Rick

  • C++, issues with converting a decimal to fraction

    Hi all,
    I am working on a C++ program that converts a decimal to a fraction, finds the lowest common multiple, multiplies the numerator by the denominator, then reduces the fraction again so the fraction will be 'numerator/1'.
    I am using this code in a larger program to change a floating point slope value to a whole value for slope-intercept equations and standard form equations.
    The program will run but I tested almost 500 numbers and 20 numbers made the program crash (it stalled and did not finish the equation, I had to close the terminal and open it up again... )
    These 20 numbers I had problems with:
    2.36,  7.36,  1.11,  1.001,  1.66,  1.88,  2.22,  2.13,  3.24,  3,26,  3.32,  3.43,  3.49,  3.51,  3.57,  3.68,  3.74,  3.76,  3.82
    (I am sure there are more...)
    I have tried c-style casting and dynamic and static casting to try to resolve this issue. Can someone help me out and point out why these certain numbers make the program crash and offer a possible sloution?
    I tried debugging this program on gdb and keep on getting this frustrating message..
    (gdb) break 16
    No line 16 in file "init.c".
    (gdb)
    Here is the program's code:
    //example.cc
    #include <iostream>
    #include "reduce.h"
    #include "decimal-to-fraction.h"
    using namespace std;
    int main()
    double deci;
    double n, d;
    while(1) {
    cout << "Enter a decimal to convert to a fraction ('0' to quit): ";
    cin >> deci;
    cin.ignore(INT_MAX, '\n');
    if(!deci) exit(0);
    dec_to_frac(deci, n, d);
    if (n * d != n){
    cout << '\n' << deci << " = " << n << '/' << d << "\n\n";
    cout<<'\n' << d << " x " << n;
    n = d * n;
    cout<< " = " << n << "\n\n";
    cout<<'\n' << n << '/' << d;
    reduce(n, d);
    cout << " = " << n << '/' << d << "\n\n";
    cout<<'\n' << n << "\n\n";
    else
    cout<<'\n' << deci<< "\n\n";
    return 0;
    #ifndef _REDUCE_H_
    #error You must include "reduce.h" before this file
    #endif /* def _REDUCE_H_ */
    #ifndef _DECIMAL_TO_FRACTION_H_
    #define _DECIMAL_TO_FRACTION_H_
    void dec_to_frac(double decimal, double &numerator, double &denominator)
    //numerator = static_cast<int >(decimal);
    //numerator = (int )decimal;
    numerator = decimal;
    denominator = 1;
    while(numerator != (int)numerator) {
    numerator *= 10;
    denominator *= 10;
    reduce(numerator, denominator);
    #endif /* def _DECIMAL_TO_FRACTION_H_ */
    #ifndef _REDUCE_H_
    #define _REDUCE_H_
    void reduce(double &numer, double &denom)
    int i;
    for(i=2; i<=numer; ++i) {
    if( ((numer/i) == ((int )(numer/i))) && ((denom/i) == ((int)(denom/i))) ) {
    numer /= i;
    denom /= i;
    --i;
    #endif /* def _REDUCE_H_ */

    Okay, a few things ('cause I'm picky too):  LCM == "least common multiple" or "lowest common multiple", it's really interchangable.  LCD == lowest common denominator, which is when you're adding two fractions and want to find the lowest denom.  Now that we have that out of the way...
    Using ++i or i++ as the third expression in your for loop will make zero difference.
    for (int i=2; i<=numer; ++i)
    will have exactly the same effect as
    for (int i=2; i<=numer; i++)
    , though they may have slightly different performances.  The reason for this is that the third expression (i++ or ++i) is evaluated after every iteration of the loop, meaning it doesn't happen until the end of the loop body is reached, and then it's evaluated independently, meaning all you end up with is 'i' incrementing.
    As for this:
    if( ((numer/i) == ((int )(numer/i))) && ((denom/i) == ((int)(denom/i))) ) {
    becomes
    if (numer % i == denom % i == 0) {
    That's about right, it would look more like
    if (numer %i == 0 && denom % i == 0)
    - the other way would probably not behave the way you expect.
    Some other tips:
    numer and denom should be 'int' or 'long' - not double.  You don't expect your numerator and denominator to have decimal points, so use integral types - using floating point 'double's is likely what's getting you into this trouble -- floating point arithmetic is inherently imprecise.  You might have better luck parsing the input yourself and constructing the numerator from that instead of reading directly into a floating-point number.
    I'm hacking around with your code right now for fun; I'll let you know if I find anything.
    ==edit==
    Oh, something else I wanted to mention; to break on a line in gdb you type:
    break filename:linenumber
    ie.
    break example.cc:16

  • IDE subfolder issue with large projects - flat JSP file lists

    Currently some IDE ui components such as ApplicationOutline and Property Binding Dialog box do not show subfolder structure hierarchically. Thus for a 100-page projects ApplicationOutline is almost impossible to use.
    Please consider adding a level of hierarchy where top nodes are subfolders (packages). Right now all the pages are listed in a flat level regardless of a subfolder they belong to. The same problem is with Property binding dialog (if there are other places please make sure you fix them along)

    Hi
    Thanks for the suggestions. We will file an RFE for this.

    I believe twisai may have lost the documentation so he/she can figure this out rather than guess that "Mmm" means 3-letter month, first letter capitalized. Let me remind him of the link:

  • Issue with Master Projects at OneDrive

    Hi everyone,
    All of my projects are saved at OneDrive. I want to create a Master Project, so I can see my portfolio in a single way.
    I created a new Project and saved it to a different folder at OneDrive. When I try to insert a subproject into the master, I get a message like this:
    "We cannot insert or expand this project. To projects saved on the web, you have to save the master and the subprojects separately before inserting subprojects into the master"
    I have tried to save the Master Project to different folders and locations at my OneDrive, but I always get the same error message.
    Have someone had the same issue?
    http://projectserver.com.br | http://raphael-santos.net

    Hi guys, thanks for sharing your thoughts.
    I am really not able to figure out what was going on. I created again two new projects and one master (as a matter of test), and saved them all in the same folder. After that I was able to do all the operations without any problem.
    @Guillaume - Yes, I tried to save in the same folder, and then tried to save in a different folder, and I was having the same issue.
    @Julie - I am using Project Professional 2013, and it is up-to-date.
    Now I deleted the master and moved all my projects to a new folder. Then I created a new master and inserted all subprojects - and it seems to be working fine so far.
    I will let you know if there is some unexpected behavior.
    Thank you!
