Issues with creating multi camera sequences

I'm using Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 and I’ve just started experimenting with multi camera sequences and have two problems, one I can work around, the other I can’t.
First, if I take a series of video clips, add a marker to each clip to identify the sync point, name the marker, and subsequently create a multi camera source sequence, the option to use the marker as the sync point is disabled.  If I leave the markers blank and don’t name them, it works.  Is this a bug or intended behaviour of the application?
Second, and more problematic for me; if I create a multi camera source sequence using two or more video clips, all of which have a stereo soundtrack except for one clip, and that single clip has a 5.1 soundtrack, I cannot seem to force the sequence to use the audio from only one of the clips with a stereo soundtrack.  Basically I want the audio to always originate from the first clip (camera 1) during the clip selection process.  I’ve selected the clips in the right order and ensured all other settings are correct, but the 5.1 clip always take precedence.
If all the video clips contain the same format of audio (in my case all stereo or all 5.1), I can select which clip becomes the default no problem, it’s only when a 5.1 clip is included in the source clips when all the others are stereo.  Is there a way to select the 5.1 clip and make it the (camera 1) audio source?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

I'm guessing the marker thing is by design.
For the audio, once the sequence is created, just Mute all the stereo tracks.

  • Massive problems with nested multi-cam sequences

    Hey all,
I'm absolutely pulling my hair out over some issues I'm having and hope somebody out there might have an answer.  I'm creating a short interview project, including interviews of two people individually, with two separate cameras and external sound capture.  My goal is to cut between their separate answers to each question.  For each interview I created a multi-cam sequence within its own timeline.  Then, in my master sequence, I used the source monitor to pull out the specific clips from each interview sequence which I wanted to include, and assembled them into the master timeline.
I'm having two difficulties.  First, for whatever reason, I'm experiencing audio glitching when the cuts between sequence clips occur.  The glitch is like an audio "scramble," lasts about a half second, plenty of time to be distracting and detract from the whole of the project.  There are no such audio glitches present when viewing the interview sequences specifically.  I had applied effects to the audio tracks both within the interview sequences and the master sequence.  I've since disabled every effect but the problem persists, and it is still present upon rendering the master timeline.  I have absolutely no idea what to do about this.
The second issue is more general.  I've got my media cache on an internal SSD, and I'm pulling my media from an internal HDD, with Premiere Installed on a different SSD with my operating system.  The two interview sequences play back wonderfully, no delays whatsoever.  The master timeline, however, with all the clips extracted from the interview sequences, plays slow as molasses.  It takes 10-15 seconds for the play head to even start moving once I click 'play', which has made this entire process excruciatingly difficult.  Is this a known issue?  Why would my performance be so completely degraded working with nested sequences?  Isn't everything referencing the exact same files?
Ugh, long night working on this.  Thank you for any help.

Well, I've come up with a terrible, but comical solution for the second issue which doesn't involve reworking anything.  It turns out that, upon launching premiere, I can play the master sequence with nested multi-cam sequences a grand total of ONCE with minimal delay.  If I stop the play through, then it will take 3-4 minutes to get the sequence playing again.  Of course, the Premiere decides to hang when I try to close it after playing this master timeline, so I'm finding that I can inch my way through this project by (1) launching premiere, (2) playing the master sequence, (3) make the edits I need, (4) forcibly crash Premiere, and (5) relaunch Premiere and repeat.  It's a terrible way to work, but the project is so close to completion that I'm willing to suffer through it.
As to issue 1, I've taken each offending clip, extending the audio track one or two frames in the beginning of each clip, and then use those frames to ramp the volume up from silent to 0db.  This seems to avoid the brief moment of distortion at the beginning.  Notably I did try your suggestion by going back to the original, source audio, but I was still getting the same issue.  My work-around is the only solution I've been able to come up with.

  • Creating Multi Camera sequence not working - Not making Sequence

After selecting 2 (or more) files and right clicking and choosing Multi camera sequence from source,  I drag the newly created sequence on to the time line but all I get is the two files on the time line stacked over one another.  the sequence never gets created.  this just started happening today, nothing has changed in my set up.  see picture for a better idea of what Im seeing....
thank you for all contributors answers in advance.

    You're welcome.

  • How do I enable "create multi-cam source sequence" option?

I am trying to create a multi-cam sequence of an interview. I have one audio file (.wav) and two different camera angles (.mov's). I highlight all three and right click, but the "Create Multi-Cam Source Sequence" option is disabled. I tried going to Clip in the menu as well. No luck. How do I enable this so I can create a multi-cam sequence?

If you are in Premiere version CS6, unselect the audio and sync your video with in or out points, timecode or clip marker. I am assuming you are prior version CC as I believe audio disables 'creating multicam source sequence'. Versions CC and beyond have the ability to sync with audio, so not sure as to why your option is greyed out.

  • 'create multi-camera source sequence' crashes premiere pro

    Hi,
I use 'create multi-camera source sequence' to sync up 2nd system audio with DSLR footage.
If i select more than say 10 clips to sync with an audio file it will crash premiere pro CC 2014 50% of the time.
Does anyone else find this? is it naturally unstable?

  • Create Multi-Camera Source Sequence Options Box Problem in CS6

Hello there; it seems in my CS6 i dont the complete box as the below:-
i only have in points, Out points and Time codes ( I dont have the Audio and the remain box) as the above.
Is anyone able to en-light me? as i have to do Multicam project as as possible
    Regards & Thanks

that seems to be exclusive to the CC version. so you would either have to upgrade or find a work around.  you can manually sync the footage using markers or in points, or if doing this alot and you dont want to upgrade might look at pluraleyes.

  • Multi Camera sequence went black (mostly)

So, I edited three separate multi camera sequences... They all looked great and I exported them through media encoder. When I went to look at my files one of the three had a really small file size and I noticed it was all black.
I went back into premeir pro cc and sure enough that multi cam seqence was all black as well (except about 3 seconds of footage right in the middle from two different cameras). Now when I go back to the original sequence  (not the nested multi cam) It is just fine so I know the clips are still linked into PP. Also, I can make a new multi cam sequence from the original and it is just fine as well.
I think PP just F'd up... and unless someone can tell me how to go back in the file save history or something I'm sunk because premier auto saved when I last closed it.  I'm seriously at a loss as to why this happened as it was just fine when I went to export it... or at least nearly immediately before.  Why is there 3 seconds of footage in the middle of all black 47min sequence? and that 3 seconds is from inside of a 10 minute clip on the original un nested sequence so It's not as if just one video file was showing up.
Okay, so more than figuring out what happened I want to move on with my life. Is there anyway to copy the edit points onto a brand new multi cam sequence?  Does anyone have any ideas what happened that I can undo?
    Thanks,
Okay, so this is weird.... so, the original un nested sequence was 1:30 hours with 45 minutes of unused audio at the beginning. When I made my nested sequence for multi cam editing I selected the last 45 minutes and nested that.  Everything functioned just fine, but somehow during export it took my multi cam sequence and added back in the 45 minutes of blank audio....so when I extended the multi cam sequence to 1:30 there was all my video... but my edits were all done on top of the audio. Seriously Stupid, and definitely a bug!!!
Is there any sort of file save history that I can revert to?

I accidentally found the auto-save folder which had 50+ versions of my project saved (thanks to no one, including Mark for pointing out that Premier Pro made new files each time it auto saved) And the issue is present in all of them, even back to a time when I am 100% positive I was working on the sequence inside of premier and it was displaying correctly.
So, that means that premier was not saving my file correctly, even though it was displaying correctly inside the program at that time. Then, when media encoder opened it for export the nested sequence was out of sync from the original, and today when I reopened it in premier it showed everything out of sync.
I'm using premier CC as a trial because I was considering upgrading from cs5 for the clip sync and increased features. Clip sync didn't work for my files so I had to use pluraleyes anyways and this bug I experienced today means that I lost 4hrs of work and 2 more hrs trying to figure out if I could recover my 4hrs of lost work.  Now, I have to re-edit and I'll definitely be doing it in CS5

  • Work flow? How to link multi-cam sequences for DVD output?

    Pr cs4 (very new)
Still taking baby steps each day... please take my hand and help me!
Final output will be 2 DVD's (each DL) each about 2 hrs. Content are chamber music student groups in two recitals.
I have assets from two camera angles. I have successfully practiced on one of the groups performance (10 min.) following the steps illustrated in a multi-cam tutorial.  http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/video_workshop/?id=vid0234
This leaves me with a great multi-cam sequence for that group located in the Project Panel, exactly what I want.
Now, I want to know what is the best method (workflow?) to ultimately produce a DVD containing about 10 of these type performances (one after the other) with chapter markings for each group, titles etc.?
I have yet to use Encore and I'm guessing that is where I'll send the finished edit for DVD production, though I don't know at what step I jump there?
Do I try to create one very long multi cam sequence of all the content, then send to Encore? Or can I create seperate multi-cam sequences (each performance) then link them together, adding transitions and make the DVD? This would be my preference to keep things more manageable, especially with audio synching.
With my practice multi-cam sequence on the timeline, I tried to drag the same sequence from the Project Panel to the end of the timeline to simulate how this would work, but it does not add to the timeline as a clip would.
This is probably childs play for you pro's, but we were all baby's at one time...I just happen to still be one!
Thanks for your patience and advice,
    Kenny

Yes I did...now toss me a cookie please.
I am trying to quickly get up to speed in Pr CS4 to get this project completed. In the process, I'm trying to learn and understand the interface and correct terminology so as to make my questions intelligible to a community that posses vastly greater understanding than myself.
Is there anyone who can help with my main question at hand? Namely, how to go about creating a full length sequence (in the timeline) made via the nesting of synchronized multi-camera clips within a new "multi-cam sequence"?
As I said, I have completed a small test sequence in this fashion, nesting clips in a new sequence then using multi-cam monitor to record cuts. Now I need to add about 10 more of these together in a completed sequence to then send to DVD production.
    Is this intelligible?
    Thanks, Kenny

  • Multi-cam sequences not working right

Ok so I am working on this ballet and I have created multiple multi-camera edited sequences. I placed the edited multi-cam sequences all in a new sequence together and only one camera angle shows up. What am I doing wrong? And is there a limit on the number of sequences you should make that contain other sequences?

Personally, I like the workflow of taking each segment into Encore as its own timeline (as long as it was a logical unit to begin with - scene, musical number, etc.).  Use playlist to do a play all, and the "scenes" are already set.
Did you do the test I suggested with one sequence?  I just don't see how you could have the problem you had.  I just did a quick test; edited multicam sequence brought into a new sequence: I see the edited version.
Are you sure you are bringing in the edited sequence and not the original (multi-video track) version?

  • CS6 Premier Pro - Create Multi-Camera Source greyed out

    CS6 on Mac OSX 10.9
I have been following the Adobe tutorial about how to do Multi-Camera editing. Following all the steps. Somehow what my Premiere offers me is not the same the guy does in the tutorial:
    1) Put all the video & audio files in a bin in the Project tab. Tutorial says: right click the bin and you get contextual menu that offers "Create Multi-Camera Source". Nope - not getting that.
    2) Selecting ALL files in that bin gives me the "Create Multi-Camera Source" option; but only if there isn't .wav or aif audio file in the list. The tutorial implies that audio files DO work.
    3) When I finally found the set of video files that gave me the "Create Multi-Camera Source" option I got a dialog that was considerably smaller than the one in the tutorial. While the tutorial shows options for Timecode syncing and syncing via audio I only see Synchronize Point. To synchronize using audio would have been most useful.
It must be something I am doing wrong or something incorrect with my source files (mp4 at the same format and audio). But what?
    Thanks
    Peter

  • Render slow after neat video nested multi cam sequence

Guys this is silly, usually i am rendering like lightning, but after a really dark shoot i needed neat video which has saved my life but after creating a multi cam sequence every time i go back to change something in the synced sequence the whole timeline in the cs6 edit goes back to all red line after i have already rendered, then it needs rendering all over again after the changes, but because of the neat video and effects its taking days? help steve

Ye Jim your right i have just been thinking to make sure i apply all effects when im ready, yikesss.

  • Volume in multi cam sequences drastically lower than source clips

When I put a multi cam sequence into a new sequence the volume level is drastically lower than on the source clips.  Each source clip has 2 mono audio tracks instead of 1 stereo track.  Does that make a difference?
    Rex

Typically only A1 is used in the multicam cut, so yes the overall volume would be lower than with all audio tracks active.

  • Exported Videos from Multi-Camera Sequence not Identical to the Frame

I imported media and made a multi-camera sequence, set the in/out points, exported each camera with identical in/out points. However, the exported durations differ by a few frames even though I'm conforming to ProRes with same in/out points. Anyone know why they are not accurate to the frame? This worked out fine in FCP7.

I'm a little lost.  Take me through the process step by step (with reasoning behind).

  • Multi cam sequence - how to take audio from multiple tracks?

I have a multi cam sequence with multiple audio sources (cameras plus separate audio tracks).
According to this page, in order to have multiple audio sources, I need to mix them into a track in the source sequence:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/4.0/WSADF1BC06-B8FB-4f23-8446-8D8F8539D7BD.html
So I mixed several tracks into submix 1. But when I use the multi cam monitor, submix 1 is not available as an audio source.
Is it perhaps possible to mix audio into a non submix track? If so, how?
    premiere cs4

Multicam can only use audio 1, or audio follows video (you hear whichever track you see).  There's no way to hear more than one track at a time.

  • Multi-Cam Sequence - Effects on Source Sequence Don't Apply

Project has multi-cam sequence (nested), with color correction and other effects applied to the source sequence. However, effects on the source sequence don't apply as they would with a normal nested sequence. I'm assuming there is a setting that I'm unaware of that would enable this functionality, but so far I've been unable to find it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It really was not necessary for me to determine that the effects were not properly applied, but since you asked, yes I did the blur test. I also have no idea why it does not work.
I have 4 hours of multicam footage and a client deadline fast approaching, and am feeling EXTREMELY frustrated that Adobe doesn't seem to have a proper help line phone number or chat through which I can promptly receive proper help after I have committed to this program for the next year of my professional life.
