Issues with host command

Hi All
We are running Forms 10gR2 under linux. We are having issues with the host command. We use host command to call ProC* modules in the appsvr. It used to work in Forms 6i. Host commnd no longer works in forms10g. Do we need to any setup to run commands using host.
We need to resolve this issue immediately.
any help is appreciated.
Rgds
Arvind Balaraman

Arvind has said the command needs to run on the app server so HOST is correct, not CLIENT_HOST.
I noticed when I installed 10g (on solaris) that the default.env file has a setting for PATH which does not include /usr/bin so HOST would not be able to find standard unix commands, so I added it in:
PATH=/usr/bin:/home/oracle/product/AS101202/bin
Alternatively you could include the full path on any unix commands run by HOST.
Surpisingly I have not seen this documented anywhere. Could this be the problem ?
I have a related problem I have not solved yet. I have one particular HOST command which works OK until after I run reports from forms, then it just stops working without producing any error.

  • Printing with host command

    Let me explain my situation.
I have a txt file which I want to print out. I usually do this with host command which looks something like this:
    command:='print /D:\\print_server\printer file.txt';
The problem is how to print this file in landscape.
If this iAS would be installed on Unix platform I guess my host command would look something like this:
    command:='lp -d printer -olandscape file.txt';
the problem is, my iAS is installed on WIN2000 server.
    any ideas........

OK I managed to solve this problem with some dosprint.exe program (40$) which can accept various other parameters as well and one of them is also landscape.
    oh, that windows again .....

  • Creating folder dynamically with host command or any solution?

I am working on storing BFILES against thier record. I need to know that how can i perform following tasks if i use host command or any other way if i can do this.
    1.     As there can be many categories agaist which i need to store files, first i need a separate folder for each category, I am looking for some solution that whenever any user creats new category then against that categoy a folder must be auto created.
    2.     when i insert records against any category then files should be stored in their specific directory.
I hope It will clear to readers that whta i am looking for.
I am using forms 10.1.2.3, on XP SP-3, WEBUTIL CONFIGURED.

    I changed webutil.cfg as follow
    transfer.appsrv.write.1=c:\temp,\\sermachine\test
    transfer.appsrv.read.1=c:\temp,\\sermachine\test
but when i run the form i got following error,
WUC-8: Server side logging was requested but no log file was specified - logging is disables
Now i don't know that what should I change to work it with on UNC path.

    Hi,
Basis people are not aware of adding in host file, for that reason i am asking input here.
My XI ssytem runs on OS level i.e on AS400.
Basis team tried to reach host file by mapping into server, but they are unable to find host file. Do i need to ask OS level expert to add entry in host file.
For my knowledge, can you pleae give me the path of host file at OS level if you have any idea.
    Please advise
    Thanks,

  • Issues with Hosted Exchange, UM and Lync 2013.

    Hello everyone!
I am trying to deploy UM with Office 365 Hosted Exchange. We are using one Lync 2013 Standard Edition FE and have deployed one edge server. We have set up our firewall to host the Reverse Proxy.
We do not use wildcard certs. External DNS resolves the _sipfederation and sip._tls SRV records to the external face of the edge server. The edge server functions as it should for remote users and mobility.
I have tried to follow these instructions to the letter three times over to no avail.
    http://y0av.me/2014/01/07/lyncum365/
Neither Snooper or Event Viewer show any particular issue, though when I try to dial out to voice mail I will get one to two rings and then 5 seconds of silence a fast busy, and finally "Call Unsuccessful".
When checking the firewall logs I notice a seemingly random 10.x.x.x address being sent to the firewall by the external leg of the edge server. Wireshark captures it as STUN packets on port 3478 being sent to port 3478. These are being dropped by our firewall.
I believe them to be RTP packets but I do not know if this is normal behavior. Has anyone any ideas?

My mistake. Here is the snooper result.

  • Also got an issue with MSI command center, maybe windows is to blame?

MSI Command Center crashes every time after it's been running a little while, googling it I've noticed there have been a lot of topics about it crashing. I think someone here on this forum suggested reinstalling windows might help :/ Not too keen on that but better now than when I've installed a ton of stuff on the PC.
Actually both MSI command center and Intel extreme tuning utility crash for me. MSI command center crashes after a while it's been running and Intel extreme tuning utility crashes every time I click on the settings menu.
I wonder if something is still wrong with my OS, first time I installed windows 8.1 games crashed if they ran in fullscreen but ran fine in windowed mode. Later after reinstalling widows games started working fine, in fact I haven't had any crashes since (other than from these 2 programs).
Just yesterday I decided to make a bootable USB drive for windows 8.1 and I noticed that my PCcouldn't actually create an ISO from the windows CD cause the DVD drive couldn't read it properly no matter how many times I tried. My other PC managed to read the Windows DVD just fine, so managed to make a bootable USB drive after all. Donno how it managed to install windows at all, it did struggle a bit.
I wonder if doing a repair install or a completely fresh install of Windows now when my PC can actually read the windows installation media properly would fix these last issues.
Is there a difference between a clean install of windows and an install where it keeps all settings and programs? Think reinstalling windows a 3rd time would help (3rd time is the charm right?) Think reinstalling windows again would help?

This issue isn't super important but I don't like programs crashing. None of the games I've played so far crash. (after I reinstalled windows once) Windows never crashes, and the PC has never crashed either so far.
Both MSI command center (version 1.0.0.82) and intel extreme tuning utility (version 5.1.0.23) crash. Both are kinda same type of programs it seems. MSI CC crashes sometimes immediately sometimes 15 minutes after I start it. The intel program crashes every time I click on the settings menu. MSI CC gives those errors when it crashes, the Intel program has no errors recorded in the event viewer when it crashes.

I tried reinstalling windows by keeping all applications and settings, that didn't help at all. I could still do a fresh windows 8.1 install and remove everything, still I'd rather avoid doing that if I can. Maybe I'll just ignore the errors. Perhaps it's something related to the motherboard since both are these sort of OCing software.

  • Cisco security manager deployment issue with invalid command

Running CSM 3.3.1, to manage an 800 series pre-configured router.
The router has a number of policy ACL's and class-maps configured. When the config is imported to CSM a number of warnings are seen reporting that some of the interfaces are unprotected by ACL's, which is correct, no serious errors are reported and the device is succesfully imported.
But, when I look at the configuration within CSM non of the ACL's or the class maps are shown.
Also, when I configure some feature on the router, during the deployment phase I get an error indicating that there is an invalid protocol under one of the class maps associated with an interface. The protocol in question is bittorrent. This error prevents depolyment of my changes. In fact this causes my client to hang, eventually if I close the application windoes reports that the issue is caused by javaw.exe faiing to respond.
If I take out the bittorrent protocol under the class map then all seems well.
So, I though flexconfigs would resolve this, enabling me to import the config with the unsupported command. I created a flexconfig with the class map and the invalid protocol. When I re-imported the device there is still a lot of configuration features that are on the router but are missing in CSM.
I'm not sure how to resolve this, the router was not configured through CSM in the first place.

Update to this, the CSM is also altering firewall configurations, if I import a configuration from an ASA running 8.0.4 code, then compare that configuration to that running on the same ASA there are quite a few differencies. Some of these are not items that CSM reports as requiring Flexconfig support, which concerns me.
This is not the first time I've seen this occur, customer is concerned about the reliability of the way this system handles configurations, and I cannot explain why it exhibits this process.
Anyone else seen this, and found a work around?

  • SQL*Loader issue with WHEN command

    Environment: R12.1.2
We have a file coming in from a bank that needs to be loaded into a custom table using SQL*Loader.
The file has multiple record formats. Each record in the file starts with a "record type", which defines the format.
For simplicity, let me say that there is a record type of "H" with the header format, and another record type "D" has a detail record format. An "H" record may be followed by multiple "D" records until the next "H" record is encountered. Unfortunately, there is no common key, like say "Vendor Number" in both the "H" and "D" records to establish a relationship. So the plan was to use a Oracle sequence or SQL*Loader sequence to get a sequence loaded into the table as the file is being loaded. Then if consecutive "H" records had a sequence value of 100 and 112, we would know that the "D" records for the "H" 100 record are all the records with sequence value of 101 through 111.
The issue occurs as we have to use the WHEN command in the control file to direct a certain record type to specific columns of the table. Based on the populated sequence values, with the WHEN command, it seems that all the "H" records get loaded first followed by the "D" records. The sequence becomes of no use and we cannot establish a link between the "H" and "D" records. The alternative is to not use WHEN with the sequence, but load the file into generic column names which provides for less understanding in the application.
Is there a way (command feature) to ensure that SQL*Loader loads the records sequentially while using WHEN?
    Thanks
    Satish

I used RECNUM parameter instead of sequence and it worked fine

  • Issue with host resolution using a pac file on Internet Explorer 11

    Hi guys,
I'm facing a weird issue on IE11 that is causing some complains from the end users. I've a pac file configured on IE11 and when I open the IE11 on the first time it takes around 45 seconds to load the webpage content. So I'm able to open a new tabs and type
new addresses but the content is only loaded after 45 seconds.
I was analysing the issue and I figured out that is related with a non-sense/stupid dns lookup when you have a pac file configured on IE11, using the rule isInNet(host, “pattern”, "mask").
The first time you open IE11 the host is resolved as dummy, instead of the homepage or the web address typed, so you'll find a lot of queries by dummy, when it doesn't exist at all. If you have several dns servers configured and with a slow connection then
you get around 45 seconds or more until you get the webpage content.
This issue isn't appearing on IE8 or Google Chrome, so it should be some bug on IE11, I suppose.
Please keep in mind that I've tested in using my corporate image and using a vanilla image (zero-customizations) and the behaviour/output was the same.
Has someone faced the same issue already?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Trouble with Host command and Plink

    Hi all, the sentece
    HOST('path -pw 111111 root@ip pwd', NO_SCREEN);
works fine from the command line but it hangs from the Forms Builder
    ¿what's wrong?
    Thank you

    yes paul it is possible,
presently we are using same logic by passing form's session ID to the script.
as we already have that session ID available as long as form is active. but,
it would benefit me more for my application,if that happens in reverse fashion.
reason being, we wanted to imitate the same logic once used in our old 2.5 application. but i don't think it is same with 10g, as database server is different from applicaiton server.
    thanks

after this no further logs and web page not open in Browser.

  • Issue with rdcmndGotoSlide command

    Hi,
We have developed an e-learning course in which there is one Shell Engine SWF which has all the navigation controls such as ‘Back’, ‘Forward’, ’Play’, ‘Pause’ ‘Replay’ etc. In this Shell Engine SWF we are externally loading SWF files which are exported with Captivate Version 3. As this is an e-learning course we are keeping track of the Bookmark page. We are storing Slide Number of the last visited page (captivate SWF file) in the Share Object. When learner re-launches the course then he/she will be taken to the same slide of the last visited page where he/she left off earlier. This functionality is implemented in the course with the help of Captivate command as given below.
rdcmndGotoSlide – For jumping to slide
rdinfoCurrentSlide – To get the slide number
With this functionality we are able to store the slide number but when we jump to the specific bookmark slide at that time it does jump to that slide but screen remains blank till that slide is not played completely. Also audio on that slide is not playing. Can anyone help me with this?

    Hi there
Looks like you are co-mingling Flash with Captivate?
I'm happy to split this thread and ensure it is placed in the Advanced Captivate Users forum for you. You need the help of someone versed in Flash as well as Captivate.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Security issues with action commands....

    Hi
I have a webapplication that under its context has two diffenent
maps, one is admin and the other one is user.
I use an ActionRouter and has actions like list-clients.do.
The admin map is restricted area described in web.xml.
You have to be in AdminRole to get access.
My problem is that if I log in as user, I can "shoot" actions commands
like list-clients.do from the user area and Servlet maps to the proper
jsp that is in the admin map. When I then try isUserInRole and so on
there is only a quetstionmark. If I run from admin area the isUserInRole
    knows who is logged in.
I put in the list-clients.do in the url like: http://myplace.com/users/list-clients.do and servlet reply with jsp from
    admin area.
Anybody know why not the restricted area declared in the web.xml file
works during that condition, and how to solve this?
Im working with Tomcat 4.1 and use SingleSignOn.
    Heres my web.xml

I found them in my firewall list on my Windows 8.1 Pro installation and posted a question on a forum as well, though I don't think it was here.  I don't believe anyone ever answered.
It looks as though these are parts of the bundled virtual private networking clients.
Note, for example, the "distributed by Microsoft as part of Windows 8.1" wording on this page:
