Issues with Installation Oracle 10g over Vista Home premium
Hi All,
I was trying to install Oracle 10g over my laptop which has Vista Home Basic Edition.
After the installation got completed, i got a prompt for Configuration of Net Services without which i was unable to connect to any of the database through the
sql prompt.
Can you just guide me through the steps for configuring the Net services so that i am able to login through sql prompt and connect to a database.
When ever i try loggin in, i am getting back an error as " No TNS listeners could be found."
Please guide me through the steps so that i am able to connect to the database.
Did you created the database with installation? If not then first try to create database with database configuration assistant.

CS3 'freezed' installation problem on Windows Vista Home Premium.
Hi! I searched everywhere for answer that installation of my PS CS3 is freezed in moment on the screen.
I installed Acrobat Reader, Dreamweaver cs3 only. Both in English language.
I tried to uninstall, then install, using cs3clean, but it`s nothing change in my situation. Even I tried to copy whole content of my cs3 installation disk to hard drive.
Why installation is freezed ? The screen:

Ps. I`ve got Vista Home Premium.
Thanks, best regards!
Ps2. Sorry for my english :)Kasprzak,
How long did you allow it to sit like this? Only reason that I ask is that I recently did an install on my laptop, and the DVD drive was EIDE and it took probably 20 mins. to get through each disc.
For installation issues, Adobe offers free tech support. Check your documentation for the toll-free phone number in your country, or region.

Hi there,
I'd like to ask you something:
I'm trying to synchronize all my iPod's (I have as many as 4 iPods: 2 iPod touch a 8 GB each and 2 iPod classic a 160 GB each) with my iTunes software (Version 11.3.1 which is installed on a Windows PC (Windows Vista Home Premium)). Unfortunately, the iTunes software refuses to run the command "synchronize with the iPod connected" regarding each and every iPod I have. iTunes just declares:
Synchronizing is impossible because I wouldn't hold the access authorization / rights for this operation.
I uploaded the songs at issue to my iTunes folder from CD's (all songs are in AAC format now).
What is this access authorization, why was something like that invented and what can I do to get it?
How do I have to proceed in detail?
What would it cost?
I am brand new here and have never ever made a post in any support community anywhere in the world in my life. Well, and I am not excessively knowledgeable about the particular computer or mac language but I know the very basics or can find out about them.
Anyways - can you help me please?
If you can't help me, who can do so?
It would be nice if you could answer me as soon as possible!
Thank you guys

Can we install Oracle 10g on Vista Home Basic Edition
Hi,
Please suggest me weather Oracle 10g is suitable in Window Vista Home Basic OS
or should I replace it with window XPDear UG!
It depends on what you want to do with your Oracle database. If it's only for developing and testing purposes then you might use Windows XP or Windows Vista. I would personally suggest you to use Windows XP because you need a special version of Oracle 10g for Windows Vista but if you plan to deploy an Oracle application on MS Server 2008 with Vista clients then you should use Windows Vista.
I don't know if this is really helpful but I hope so.
Yours sincerely

I got "ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error" when I installed ORACLE 10g R2 for Win2K8 on my Windows 2008 (a Domain Controller Server). It happened in the create predefined database period.
I tried to google and noted that there are some RUMOS say "We cannot deploy ORACLE on a Domain Controller, It's impossible"
Is this true? Please, Please advise!

Question - DRDA_REMOTE_DB_NAME - is the the O/S user? or the database instance name? For example, when accessing the DB2 instance, I login to the O/S as db2user but issue 'db2 connect to db2' when connecting to the instance - which value is DRDA_REMOTE_DB_NAME looking for?
Any help is appreciated - thanksHi,
You are right, DRDA_REMOTE_DB_NAME should have the name of the Db2 instance.
The error you are getting points to the fact that you are an multibyte character set in either Oracle and/or DB2. The gateway can connect, but first have to be able to map the character sets indicated by the error message:
TG4DRDA v10.2.0.1.0 grc=0, drc=-332 (865B,0001), errp=GDJREACS errmc=1208,819 <<== 1208 and 819 are the CCSIDs
Add the following entries to the gateway codepage.map file -
S 367 > US7ASCII
D 13488 > AL16UTF16
D 1200 = AL16UTF16
M 1208 = UTF8
MBC 1208 = 1208 1200
The default location of the file is $ORACLE_HOME/tg4drda/admin/codepage.map
These values map code page 1208 to Oracle's UTF8 character sets so that the gateway can translate UTF8 data into code page 819 (WE8ISO8859P1).

Edited by: 785632 on Jul 31, 2010 3:35 AMWhat you 'believe' is unimportant. Windows Home doesn't have user accounts, and Oracle relies on the presence of accounts.
So, yes there is an architectural difference between the various flavors of Windows, and Oracle is not certified against the 'Home' flavour, for exactly this reason.
Please stop stating it must work somehow. This is irrelevant, as Oracle won't support you.

Installation of Oracle 10g XE in Windows Vista home premium
Hi,
I tried to install oracle 10g XE(express edition) in my laptop which has Windows Vista home premium 32 bit.But when i start database it is showing me error

System error 5 has occured
Access is denied
C:\oracleexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\BIN>net start OracleServiceXE
System error 5 has occured
Access is denied
CAn anyone please help me out with this issue.I didn't realize Vista Home Premium wasn't supported, so I went ahead and installed Oracle 10g R2 standard edition and then personal edition on 64-bit Vista Home Premium. The only problem I've had is that the DB Console doesn't work, which is why I came to this forum and thread. All I get is a blank page with a few chicken scratches, but everything else has been working so far. I've had to revert to command line SQL Plus, and I just imported a couple million rows from an export done on a Solaris server, so go figure. Obviously I'm not using it for a production database, but for my purposes so far it's done OK.

Running Oracle Database 10g Release 2 on computer with Vista Home Premium
Do you think I need all 3 of these downloads to sun Oracle on my computer at home? I have Windows Vista Home Premium.running on my personal computer at home

Oracle Database 10g Client Release 2 (10.2.0.3)

http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10203vista.htmlWindows Vista Home is not a supported platform. In this specific case it means you can install it and it will partially work. You will have your database up and running, but the Enterprise Manager will behave funny, and it will show several errors when you attempt to launch tasks such as backup, exp/imp, sqlldr, and all other tasks that require connection to the OS (tasks which require the connect as batch privilege). So you may get fun for a while, but if you are thinking about exploiting more EM features, then I suggest you to install a Virtual Machine and install either a supported windows on it or install Oracle Enterprise Linux and install the Oracle 10gR2 for linux.

NAT issue - WRT54G Version 1.1 with Vista Home Premium
Router = WRT54G Version 1.1
I am trying to figure out the cause of my problems, this router or Vista?
I have 2 PC’s (just want to use my Vista 1) connected to the same router that is connected to a cable modem – the Windows XP machine has no problems bar its age and spec. I have a brand new PC with Vista Home Premium installed on it, now it is this new PC that I am having NAT problems with and port blocking.
I have installed Windows Live Messenger and when setting it up I went into Tools/Options/Connections and I get an error message:- "You are connected to the internet through a UPnP port restricted NAT. The Windows Firewall is enabled. (User)"
I have no option to run the trouble shooter (greyed out)…….
If I turn off Windows Vista Firewall I get:- "You are connected to the internet through a UPnP port restricted NAT. (User)”
Since this I have installed Media server software and have to reset the port it uses every time as it is always stating that it is blocked.
I have downloaded OpenOffice via a torrent client which also stated that I had NAT problems.
I have no NAT issues at all on my older XP PC and as a result I believe it is safe to rule out my router and modem……..I have only disabled Windows Firewall and this had made no difference, but I have not tried uninstalling it (no idea if that would make a difference)
Oh, I do not have UPnP enabled (router setting) – does this matter (I have tried turning it on but made no difference to this issue so I turned it off again)?

Also, I wanted to ask that the prerequisite packages, which are needed to install. I install them using yum installer, which always downloads and updates the packages,, Isn't there anything which i can download the same well before and install everytime I needed it. Please clear my way for this, as I always wanted to find the solution for the same.
