Issues with installing Officejet 2620 All-in-One

I'm having problems with installing my Officejet 2620.  I've installed the correct driver for my OS, but every time I connect the printer to the laptop via USB I get an error message saying 'USB Device not recognized; the last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.' I've read where this could be because I no longer have Windows 8, but rather Windows 8.1, as opposed to an error with the actual printer, which seems to work fine aside from the lack of communication with the laptop.  My OS Windows 8.1 64-bit. Please help!

Hello hackman19,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I understand when you plug in the USB connection to your HP Officejet 2620 you get an error message 'USB Device not recognized; the last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.'
After some research I was able to find this thread on www.wiknix.com:
Solved: USB Device Not Recognized In Windows
Please try the above recommendation and let me know the outcome, I will watch for your reply.

  • Fax issue with HP OfficeJet 7210 All-in-one

    Hi everyone,
I've got an issue with my HP OfficeJet 7210 All-in-one printer/fax (USB connection)
    I'm under Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard).
When I was under Tiger, my printer/fax worked properly.
After the upgrade to Leopard, the printer/fax was still installed (HP 7210 was displayed as installed in the printer list of the System Preferences).
The printer works fine but the fax doesn't ! An error consistenly occurs when I try to send a fax.
Thus, I decided to uninstall every HP components from my Mac. Then I proceeded a fresh install of the CD software/driver I received with my printer/fax.
During the installation, I get an error : "HP AIO TRAP has quit". I went further and continue the installation till the end by ignoring the problem.
The printer is still working fine but I'm unable to install my fax in the System Preferences because the fax simply doesn't appear either on the "Fax" tab or on the "More printer" tab.
Only an unuseful "Bluetooth" fax appear, I can install it but it's impossible to send a fax with it : http://users.cybernet.be/ptsalos/hp-leo1.png
In the "More printer" tab I got this : http://users.cybernet.be/ptsalos/hp-leo2.png ... It seems that no fax are detected (no fax are displayed in "HP AiO Télécopie" and the "Add" button is gray).
I hope you could help me !
PS: the fax works properly under Bootcamp with Windows XP PRO SP2
    Thank you very much.

OK, so enough software is available (or will so been available) for me to start posting these types of workarounds (and getting more of you up and running). And remember, what I am about to tell you is NOT supported by HP, so if you run into problems doing this do NOT call customer support. I am posting this stuff here to try to help out the community. I will stop posting if this gets abused (even once).
If you have an HP OfficeJet 7310 or 7210 printer, go to HP.com/support, tell it you have a 7410, and download the installer (follow my instructions on the [Beta Announcement|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1252889&tstart=0 ] thread if you need more details.
    Now follow these instructions:
Step 1: Run the installer, and follow the onscreen prompts.
Step 2: When the screen comes up to select your printer, check the box my printer isn't listed and continue.
Step 3: On the next screen select the OfficeJet 7400 Series and continue.
Step 4: Select the type of connectivity to your device.
Step 5: Install the software (this may take several minutes).
Step 6: When you get to the Setup Assistant, skip it. Make sure you de-select the two checkboxes before you continue otherwise it will remind you every time you log in.
Step 7: Go into the Print & Fax System Preference and manually add your print queue.
Step 8: Go into the Print & Fax System Preference and manually add your fax queue.
Step 9: Start using your device.
Congratulations, you now should have a fully functioning device under Leopard. So what won't work with this work around:
    1) The documentation on your device will be wrong.
    2) If you did not previously set up a station ID for the fax, one will not be set.
    3) Device Manager will not know anything about your device so the functionality there will be pretty useless (most stuff can be done through other means though). However if you already have a Tiger install, even this should (theoretically work).
    4) Good question, if you run into any other issues post them here, I may have forgotten something.
    WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!
Please install the final drivers when they come out, and preferable the beta drivers too for your device too! Just because things are working for you does not mean that this configuration is supported (its not) or that there aren't any known problems (there may be, we certainly don't test it) so please take caution and update when possible.
    Just trying to help.

  • Computer is unable to communicate with printer Officejet J4680c All in One using wireless setting.

I received a message while I reinstalling software and driver to change from usb conection to wireless conection:  Your laptop is unable to communicate with your printer (Officejet J4680c All in One.  This may be caused by firewall software.  If you are using firewall software, verify that UDP port is unblocked for both inbound and outbound trafic.  But I don't know how to verify that option in my computer.  While I reinstalled software I turn off firewall software in my computer.  Can some one help me to resolve this issue? • Communication Failure With HP Officejet J6480 All-In-One

I bought a new printer, an HP Officejet J6480 All-In-One, and set it up with my PC.
Then, I set it up with my mac. I get this error: "Communication Failure: The computer is no longer able to communicate with your printer. Turn the printer off, check your printer connections and check for printer errors, and turn the printer back on."
I recently bought an Epson printer but returned it cause it was too slow. That printer gave me a similar (maybe the same, I don't remember) error. I can scan and check ink levels but I can't print. I'm connected by USB by the way.
What's wrong? I downloaded the latest drivers and software yesterday. Why can't I print?

And on HP Photosmart C7280 All-In-One.
I've got mine connected to the network on Ethernet - figured that would be less problematic than wifi - and my MacPro can see everything about the printer, just not print to it. This includes the C7280's built-in webserver which - like alot of SOHO routers - gives you a web-based interface to the printer's configuration and status. Everything on that page looks right-on, but no printing.
The printer's copy and fax functions work, and I can even scan images and save them across the network onto my machine, so the printer is already interoperating with the network to a high degree, just not printing.
Like alot of people, I bypassed the HP driver CD and downloaded a fresh software package yesterday from HP's site (200MB+, ***?), which is what I used to configure my system. As far as I could tell, there appear to be no firmware updates available for this printer. MacOS "Software Update" doesn't offer any printer driver updates - I'll try the posted link to Apple's site next.

  • Issue with HP Deskjet F2180 All-in-One

    Hey all...
I have the HP Deskjet F2180 All-in-One Printer/Scanner/Copier... It works fine when plugged directly into the Imac, however when its plugged into the airport express its prints fine but i cant scan anything... The error basically says that there is no scanner connected.
Is there a way to fix this?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Cheers

The Airport Express (AX) and printer seems to be working fine. While your AIO is designed to do printing, scanning & copying the AX is ONLY designed to do printing. My suggestion is either to plug it back in using USB to gain it's full functionality or get yourself a true wireless AIO (HP has many that start at about $129 USD) and then you can enjoy all the features wirelessly.

  • Busy signal when faxing with hp officejet 6600 all-in-one

I keep getting a busy signal when faxing with all numbers.

    Hi @pbr69,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you are getting a busy signal when faxing with the HP Officejet 6600, and I am happy to help!
I would recommend to look through this faxing guide, to make sure it is properly configured. Cannot Send or Receive Faxes.
Also depending on the type of phone connection you are using you may require a different type of configuration. Please also see, How to connect your HP Fax Device to an ISDN, ADSL, PBX, or VoIP line, if you are using one of those types of lines.
Hope this information helps, and have a wonderful day!

My black ink ran out and when I put in a new cartridge it refuses to print with black and only colour. I have removed all sticky tabs on the cartridge and it says that the ink level is full but its still not printing.

    hello,
try to uninstall and reinstall the driver.

  • Massive problem with HP Officejet J4580 All-in-One

Recently I've reloaded the cartridges and when I want to print something, on the print's screen writes "Problem at printing cartridge: [Black]. Consult the documentation of the product, for troubleshooting". It's not the first time when appears this message, last time I had to buy a new cartridge.
    What should I do?

First, ensure that it is the correct cartridge number.  If it is, take it back to where you bought it and exchange it for a new one.

  • Tying to re-install my hp officejet 6310 all in one with windows 7 op system

Fomerally had this working great.  a tech had some type of patch which allowed this device to work with my Windows operating systerm instead of XP. I didn't make a back up disk and now I can't get it to load. Anyone come across this issue?

Hi, Please download software and driver from the following link and install on your computer:     http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Officejet-6300-All-in-One-Printer-series/1120059/model/1120060#Z7_3054ICK0KGTE30AQO5O3KA30R1 Regards.

I am trying to install a hp officejet 4215 all in one on a HP  Pavilion slimline with Vista, I log in under myself and  I am an administrator, When I run the cd to install it shows that I need to be logged in as administrator, any help out there ?

I am not sure why the HP software needs to recognize your airport. That's a function of the OS. Can you be more specific about the problem you are having? Do you have some screen shots? Is the Macbook connected to the router?
If the HP printer can't recognized the router, that's a different story. You'll need to plug the Macbook into the printer (by cable) to config it (that's typical). You may need to assigne the printer its own static IP address (which I would advise doing anyway). That way you can always find it and it will make setting up network printers on other computers a bit easier.

  • HP Officejet 5610 all in one Communication Error Message on Mac with 10.10.2

    Hi,
I got a new MAC computer running 10.10.2 Yosemite. I own the HP 5610 Officejet all in one printer. The new computer doesn't recognize the printer or scanner. I went to my applications folder and tried to uninstall the HP software but the printer doesn't show up there. I also downloaded the 3.0 software driver and tried to install it.
I can print from a document without a problem but I can't scan.
Any ideas on how to solve this/
    Thank you.

    Hey @PRLady ,
Welcome to the HP Support Forum.  I understand that you're having scan to Mac issues with your HP Officejet 5610 All-in-One Printer.  I would like to assist you with enabling scan to Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite.
My colleague @X-23 has assisted another HP printer user with essentially the same issue in another Forum post.  Click here to access troubleshooting steps that may resolve your scanning issue.
As HP has not released a Full Feature driver available that's directly compatible with Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite, my colleague has outlined the steps in which you may add your printer into the Mac.  (In this type of setup you would be using the built-in HP drivers that are available through Apple).
Please respond to this post in regards to your troubleshooting result.  Best of luck with your setup!

  • HP Office Jet 8625 and HP OfficeJet 7410xi All-in-One (a) difference (b) install on one desktop

    Given:
HP OfficeJet 7410xi All-in-One connected to 2 desktops (Visa and Win8.1 - 64-bit) via usb network hub (i.Connect).  Able to print from both computers.  Vista machine has HP Solution Center installed (able to import pictures from camera SD card, scan documents to PDF, etc).
Q1:  Are print drivers and sw for 2 different HP printers (HP Office Jet 8625 and HP OfficeJet 7410xi All-in-One) compatible on the same computer?
What is the installation procedure for the SW and driver for HP Office Jet 8625 and connect via Wireless to Visa and Win8.1 - 64-bit desktop such that the 7410xi All-in-One current  setup not impacted.
Objective:  Ability to select the desired printer for printing,Reason:  the 7410 HP Solution Center has additional functions (scan to Pdf, import from camera SD card, etc) than the 8625 so need both.
Q2:  Does the HP Office Jet 8625 have similar HP Solution Center ... please provide link to the HP Solution Center SW for the the 8625.
Q3:  Where is the user guide manual for the HP Office Jet 8625?  The user guide manual refers to 8610, 8620, 8630.  Is  8620 same as HP Office Jet 8625; what's the difference?
Q4: Where is the text installation for the HP Office Jet 8625?  The only installation guide is a poster -- no words on the poster.  Please provide text based setup instructions  starting from unpacking out of the box.
Concern with users comments regarding the HP8625:  http://reviews.costco.com/2070/100116415/united-stationers-hp-officejet-pro-8625-e-all-in-one-printe...
Q5:  "..print envelopes, it thought it was "out of paper". Looks like the plastic "switch" that releases the tray springs is not properly designed...."  Please provide instructions to correct the "switch" that releases the tray springs.
Q6:  "..unable to print using the black ink cartridge if any of the other three color cartridges are empty..."  How to print black and white if the other color cartridges are empty or is this statement an HP design?
Q7:  "...after 15 min goes into sleep mode and wont come out unless I unplug machine..."  How to turn off 'sleep mode'?  If printer enters 'sleep mode', how to turn on without having to unplug/plug printer?
Q8:  "..8625 went into powersave mode, then it was Printer OFFLINE...The problem was the HP8625 has a VERY POOR WEAK wireless system. "  How to prevent HP going into powersave mode then Offline without doing anything to my network setup?
Q9:  "... Windows 8.1 will not print via wireless to this printer  ... Download the latest drivers from the HP website for the 8620 series - not from the supplied CD. Then download the "HP Print and Scan Doctor" and run the program. It should render the printer functional with windows 8.1. .. The printer works out of the box with the "old" version of windows perfectly..."  Please provide a solution if this user's solution may cause other compatibility issues?

    Hello @xandux,
I would like to assist you today with the answers to the questions that you have regarding the HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer.
Q1: The print drivers for the HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer and HP Officejet 7410xi All-in-One Printer are compatible on the same computer.
For the Officejet Pro 8625 you would first run the Wireless Setup Wizard on the front panel of the printer to connect it to the network.
    How to Configure Wireless:
On the printer touch screen, touch the Right Arrow () to display the second navigation screen.
Touch the Setup icon (). The Setup Menu screen displays.
Touch Network, touch Wireless Setup Wizard, and then touch Continue.
Wait while the printer searches for routers that are within range of the printer. The Select Network Name menu displays.
Scroll down the list of network names until you find the name of your network.
Touch the name of your network, and then touch OK.
If prompted, enter the WEP or WPA key. This is case sensitive.
The printer will now connect to the network.
Once your printer is successfully connected to the network than you may run the installation of your printer.
The driver package for both Windows Vista and Windows 8.1 is the same. Should you want the latest drivers for the HP Officejet 8625 on both computers please click here to download the drivers. You will need to open that link on both the Vista and the 8 Computers. Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left. Once the download is complete the installation window will pop open. The onscreen prompts will walk you through the quick and easy install. You simply select that you are connecting a Wireless printer when prompted, the installer will search and find your printer and complete the install. You simply sit back and hit 'next' a few times. For additional install assistance and documentation please click here.
I can assure you that your HP Officejet 7410xi All-in-One Printer will not be affected by the installation of the HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer as they use completely different drivers.
Q2: The HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer uses the HP Printer Assistant Software rather than the HP Solutions Center Software. The Printer Assistant Software installs with the printer. Therefore, there is no separate link available for this. The Printer Assistant will load an icon on your computer that looks like this:
Once you click on that icon you will see a similar screen to this:
Q3: The User Guide for your HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer can be found here. It is for the Officejet Pro 8610/8620/and 8630 products as they are all within the same series.
The Officejet Pro 8625 is identical to the Officejet 8620. For specific specifications for just the Officejet Pro 8620 (8625) series printer please click here.
There are slight differences between the 8610, 8620, and 8630 products.
The Officejet Pro 8610:  Print speeds are slightly slow (19 ppm in black and 14.5 ppm in colour), letter size flatbed glass, no automatic duplex copies/scans. The specifications for this printer can be found here.
The Officejet Pro 8620 and Officejet Pro 8630: both models are identical with their specifications. The only difference is that the Officejet Pro 8630 comes with 2 paper trays. The specifications for the Officejet Pro 8630 can be found here.
Q4: For detailed setup and install instructions please refer to the two documents below.
For out-of-box hardware setup instructions please click here.
For installation instructions for Windows Vista and Windows 8.1 please click here.
Q5: There is no switch that should have to be altered when printing envelopes. You simply load the envelope within the paper tray and select Print, just like any other printer. For instructions on how to properly load envelopes please click here. The only issue I have seen is that people aren't 'telling' the program on the computer that the printer is printing envelopes. This may cause a 'paper mismatch' error as your machine 'thinks' it's supposed to pull letter size paper and doesn't detect that as loaded in the tray. If there was a hardware defect with the switch when the HP Officejet 8625 first came out, we are not seeing those issues now so the switch issue must have been corrected.
Q6: Because of the Printhead design within these printers, there must be ink inside the printer to print. Therefore, if you run out of yellow ink, you must replace the yellow ink to continue using your printer. Once a cartridge is empty the printer goes into a 'depleted cartridge' error state. When this happens you are not able to use any features of the printer. The best course of action would be to keep an eye on your ink levels. When you start getting prompts that your cartridge is low, have a cartridge on hand for when the ink finally does run out. What I would recommend is if you're not planning on printing a lot in colour from your computer set the 'Black Ink Only' feature under the driver to ON. If you do not have this feature enabled, when you print from your computer certain print jobs are sent to your printer as 'image' files. If a document is sent to the printer as an 'image' file the printer will use colour ink to enrich the black on the document. This causes the colour ink to run out much faster than anticipated. If you turn Black Ink Only ON only black will be used for black documents. If you want to print a colour document you simply disable the Black Ink Only feature for that specific print job.
For more information regarding why this occurs and how to set Black Ink Only please click here.
Q7: Your machine is designed to go into sleep mode after about 10-15 minutes. This is not a design flaw. Ideally, once your printer enters sleep mode, if you need to print something you simply send the print command and the printer will wake up and respond for you. Occasionally sleep mode has issues. One issue for instance is when you have a networked printer. Sometimes the routers don't send the print command to the sleeping printer properly and that causes the printer not to 'wake up'. This can be corrected with altering settings on your router. The other issue may lie with a programming issue within the printer. The best course of action to avoid sleep mode issues would be to ensure that your printer is running the latest Firmware. The latest Firmware can be downloaded here.
Q8: Again, powersave mode is the same thing as sleep mode. You should have no issues allowing your wireless Officejet 8625 to go into a sleep mode. Once the printer is asleep you simply send a print job to your printer and the printer will 'wake up' and print for you. It is rare to see 'sleep mode' or 'powersave' issues. Always keep the Firmware up to date to avoid programming issues.
Q9:  Microsoft has recently released a HotFix to correct wireless printing issues as they have found printing issues within the Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Operating Systems. This issue is not specific to HP or the HP Officejet 8625. Rather, the issue seems to affect all wireless printers on the Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 Operating Systems. The HotFix can be found here. Once the website opens you simply select the button for HotFix Download Available. Follow any onscreen prompts to install the HotFix. There has been a lot of luck with running this fix.
I hope this information helps to clear up any issues you may have. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums!

Help! I've spent hours researching this and can't find a solution...
I upgraded 3 Intel Macs in the house to Snow Leopard last weekend. All went differently...but all were successful. I found that the connection to my HP Officejet 7410 (connected wirelessly to 802.11g Airport Express (AEX) network) was "broken". Deleted then "re-intalled". Documents could now be printed. I then found out scan function was "broken". Figured out how to scan with new Snow Leopard "baked-in" driver and Scan tab...different, but it worked.
Then, tonight, on the eve of my birthday, I was given the green light to purchase an Airport Extreme 802.11n (dual-band) base station (AEBS). I set it up and got 2.5X speed on the two 802.11n laptops in the household. Glorious! Then I went to work to ensure print and scan functions were still operational. Tried to re-connect HP OJ 7410 to wireless network...when it found the network it asked for the "WEP" key (on previous AEX network I was secured utilizing WPA2/Personal)...I entered the WPA2/Personal password (same as previous network) and got the error message "Key must be 5 or 13 characters OR 10 or 26 length with 0-9 and A-F (hex)". So I turned off the wireless radio and instead plugged the 7410 into the AEBS via USB. Deleted the previous queue and re-installed. Found the printer no problem but now without the Scan tab or function anywhere...despite following all the recommendations found both on the HP site and here in the Apple Forums. I print fine. Can't for the life of me figure out what the problem with the now lost again Scan function is.
Only strangeness I can think of is the following: When setting up the network(s), I had the option of naming the 5 ghz band something different. I set mine up with the same name of the 2.4 ghz network with 5ghz in parenthesis (i.e. BobbyG and BobbyG (5 Ghz)).
Sorry for the long post but we need the scan function in the house for my wife's teaching purposes. Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Very Respectfully,
    Bobby G.

  • HP officejet j4680 all-in-one paper jam issue

I bought HP officejet j4680 all-in-one two months ago from a dealer. Now it keeps telling me a "paper jam" which doesn't exist. I tried everything from the troubleshooting in HP website. The jam light just keeps blinking. Now I am so frustrated with this product.

@CAGY, take a look at this HP link on how to clear a jam.
