Issues with installing unixODBC (Oracle linux 6)
"4.5 Compiling the Oracle ODBC Driver Demos
If you plan to compile and run the Oracle ODBC Driver demos, then follow these steps:
1.
If you do not have unixODBC DriverManager installed, then download it from the following Web site:
http://www.unixodbc.org/
2.
Set the ODBCDM_HOME environment variable to point to the directory where you installed DriverManager.
3.
Run the following make file to compile the Oracle ODBC Driver demos:
make -f demo_xe.mk buildodbcdemo ODBCDM_HOME=DriverManager_location
When trying to execute this :
make -f demo_xe.mk buildodbcdemo ODBCDM_HOME=DriverManager_location
[root@localhost ~]# cd /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/rdbms/demo
[root@localhost demo]# make -f demo_xe.mk buildodbcdemo ODBCDM_HOME=/opt/unixODBC-2.3.1
make: *** No rule to make target `odbcdemo.o', needed by `buildodbcdemo'. Stop.
Obviously the the file is missing what now ? Do I need to do this part of the cookbook anyway?
Ive installed it through the repo tho:
P.S. OK, dl-ed from the repo
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 387132 Feb 19 21:59 unixODBC-2.2.14-11.el6.x86_64.rpm

-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 225680 Feb 19 21:59 unixODBC-kde-2.2.14-11.el6.x86_64.rpm
according to my post above:
"make -f demo_xe.mk buildodbcdemo"
[root@localhost demo]# make -f demo_xe.mk buildodbcdemo ODBCDM_HOME=/opt/unixODBC-2.3.1/
make: *** No rule to make target `odbcdemo.o', needed by `buildodbcdemo'. Stop.
[root@localhost demo]# pwd
/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/rdbms/demo
[root@localhost demo]# ls
cdemo81.c demo_xe.mk occidemo.sql occidml.cpp occiobj.cpp occiobj.typ
[root@localhost demo]#
I think they are put here, right ?

JDeveloper 11.1.2 install on Oracle Linux 6 U1 64 bit
I am trying to install jDeveloper on Oracle Linux 6 U1 (6.1) and keep getting a variety of errors. I know that jDeveloper does not support 64 bit Operating Systems very well. However with the majority of new systems being 64 bit and the memory limitations of 32 bit is jDeveloper going to move into the next century and support 64 bit jvm's and operating systems natively? When will this happen?

I've been running JDev using 64-bit JDKs on OS X and Linux for a few years without issue.
You might be having issues with JDeveloper on Oracle Linux 6, however - the WebLogic install scripts, etc. do not include support for Oracle Linux 6 as of yet, nor Java 7.
Take a look at the certification matrix for operating systems and Java versions in JDeveloper:

Thank you
ThilinaHi Thilina,
Please confirm you have installed all the rpms mentioned as per the notes provided by Hussein. Please verify whether you have installed all the rpms mentioned in the per-requisite setup by command:
rpm -qa | grep <rpm_name>*
In addition, please upgrade your rapidwiz when installing especially on OEL 6 as most of the issues are addressed in the latest rapidwiz and perform a fresh installation.:
https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/new_rapid_install_startcd_12
Please also provide the output of:
find / -name libclntsh* (as root user)
A workaround is mentioned in this site, Please check whether this helps you and let us know:

as you see all checks passed OK, but the whole install failed. What could be wrong? And what is XML parser init: error 54?
Edited by: 892273 on Oct 19, 2011 8:12 AMWhere's the WebLogic Server home???
Else you should attach this to an existing WebLogic domain

Any issues with using LDAP on LINUX for GRC 5.2 UME?
Our company is converting our LDAP servers from AIX to LINUX. The DNS name used in our UME connection should not change. Are there any issues with using LDAP on LINUX? We are currently on GRC 5.2 SP9 (in the middle of upgrading to SP12).
Also, I have been trying to connect our test UME system to a test LDAP box that has already been converted to LINUX but keep getting a 'connection failed' error when I try to test it.
Do you have to reboot the server to test changing the LDAP connections? I've been trying it by going into UME, pulling up the LDAP tab, hitting the Modify button, entering the new userid and password for test LDAP, and hitting the Test Connection button. I've verified that this userid and password is correct for test LDAP.
Is there a way to get more information about why the connection failed?
Thanks.I've been told by our LDAP Support group that none of the other configuration settings should have to be changed. I should only have to change the id and password to connect to a test version of LDAP instead of our regular connection to the production LDAP.
Can you test a connection for a different userid/password without having to reboot/restart the server? Do I need to change these two settings, save then, reboot/restart, and then do the Test Connection button?
Thanks. -
I am having issues with installing a Ricoh MP C2500 printer on Lion in my MBPro Ci7
I am having issues with installing a Ricoh MP C2500 printer on Lion in my MBPro Ci7 Where is appletalk or the replacement?
My it guy has set all the Ricoh (The only brand of printers we use.) to enable Appletalk. I am unable to see how to enable appletalk or an equivalent on Lion and have spent 3 hours now searching for it. If I connect to the printer via TCP/IP it prints random characters. I have a Ricoh working for another moddle but I am needing to use this machine. HELP!!!!!AppleTalk has been gone eons ago. Connect via USB and see what happens. If you are networking the printer then advise on your connection set up.

I have CS2 and would like to do Image Stacking. I understand CS3 allows this. correct? Am I wiser to purchase CS3 upgrade. Am I going to run into issues with install?
Well, I refuse to sign up to pay Adobe a monthly tribute for life too, but that doesn't mean we are limited to CS3.
I'm staying with CS6.
Adobe still sells a perpetual-license to Photoshop CS6 without the subscription model, but it's $700 for the Standard version and a cool $1,000 for the Extended version.
You haven't mentioned your platform, Macintosh or Windows, so make sure CS3 or any other obsolete version you buy actually runs on a modern operating system.
Good luck. -
Issues with install of linux agent micro install on RHEL 5.2.
Hi All,
I have a linux machine, doing ssh to connect to it and then launch vncviewer to get the access. When I run the ./setup.sh it gives me libmawt.so: libXtst.so.6: cannot open shared object files: No such file or directory. Anyway to troubleshoot this issue.
Thanks,
Nags.Oh wait, now that I re-read your message I see you are not having a problem with VNC. This document page is a continuation of my OATS install process on Linux. For the install, you need to be sure the user which is logged into the Linux UI has proper rights access to the unzipped install files.

Issues with instaling Weblogic.server
Dear all,
while installing Weblogic i got stucked where I had to create a new WLS domain and start WLS. I created domain outside the MW_HOME (I use Windows) and I typed
%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java.exe %JAVA_OPTIONS% -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m weblogic.Server
But it constantly giving me back this error:
D:\Projekti\Nereids_dmn\base_domain>D:\programi\java\bin\java.exe -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m weblogic.server
Error: Could not find or load main class weblogic.server
As you see, I did not put anything in the place of %JAVA OPTIONS% (sincerely, because I don't know what to put there) but after giving the shortcut i just copied the -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m weblogic.Server.
Can anyone suggest me what is missing here?
Thanks in advance.
Ursa.Funny, I had this EXACT same problem this morning myself. I did some more digging and while I don't know what step we both missed that properly adds the jar to the environment or whatever, I did find the workaround that'll get you going. You need to invoke the jar in which the weblogic.Server class is found. Assuming you've set up the WLS_HOME environment variable during the install (I followed these instructions myself - http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/12c/weblogic-development-only-installation-on-oracle-linux-5-and-6-12cr1.php) then you can set up your domain by using the following command:
*$JAVA_HOME/bin/java $JAVA_OPTIONS -jar $WLS_HOME/server/lib/weblogic.jar weblogic.Server*
You can add whatever memory conditions you want before the -jar flag. That'll start the configuration and allow you to proceed with creating the domain. -

Please provide some helpful pointer on this
Thanks in advance,
RPBHi, Jasdeep!
We have the same problem with OIM 11.1.2 on Solaris SPARC 10 - just after extend WLS domain to OIM & SOA servers AdminServer fails to start with message "syntax error at line 30: `JVM_TYPE=$' unexpected"
It seems like uncompatibility of file $DOMAIN_HOME/bin/setOIMDomainEnv.sh and Solaris systems... :-(
I changed *$DOMAIN_HOME/bin/setOIMDomainEnv.sh* : instead of
PORT_MEM_ARGS="-Xms768m -Xmx1536m -XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize=256m"
JVM_TYPE=$(java -version 2>&1 >/dev/null)
*echo "JVM Type is ${JVM_TYPE}"*
*echo "$JVM_TYPE" | grep -q 'JRockit'*
wrote
*#PORT_MEM_ARGS="-Xms768m -Xmx1536m -XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize=256m"*
*PORT_MEM_ARGS="-Xms768m -Xmx1536m"*
*#JVM_TYPE=$(java -version 2>&1 >/dev/null)*
*JVM_TYPE=JRockit*
*echo "JVM Type is ${JVM_TYPE}"*
*#echo "$JVM_TYPE" | grep -q 'JRockit'*
*echo "$JVM_TYPE" | grep 'JRockit'*
and after that AdminServer started normally.
Try to make similar changes (according your JVM, of course)

Issues when installing unixODBC ?
"4.5 Compiling the Oracle ODBC Driver Demos
If you plan to compile and run the Oracle ODBC Driver demos, then follow these steps:
1.
If you do not have unixODBC DriverManager installed, then download it from the following Web site:
http://www.unixodbc.org/
2.
Set the ODBCDM_HOME environment variable to point to the directory where you installed DriverManager.
3.
Run the following make file to compile the Oracle ODBC Driver demos:
make -f demo_xe.mk buildodbcdemo ODBCDM_HOME=DriverManager_location
When trying to execute this :
make -f demo_xe.mk buildodbcdemo ODBCDM_HOME=DriverManager_location
>>
[root@localhost ~]# cd /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/rdbms/demo
[root@localhost demo]# make -f demo_xe.mk buildodbcdemo ODBCDM_HOME=/opt/unixODBC-2.3.1
make: *** No rule to make target `odbcdemo.o', needed by `buildodbcdemo'. Stop.
Obviously the the file is missing what now ? Do I need to do this part of the cookbook anyway?Forgot to mention that I dl-ed from http://www.unixodbc.org/ and installed it in /opt currently using oracle linux 6. Not installed by default, too.
P.S. OK, dl-ed from the repo

Hope installing them would do the job..

I was wondering if anyone was able to do a net install. I just tried it with the following setup:
- Virtual Box running on CentOS 5.4 32 bit
- Oracle Linux 5.5 iso cd image 1
- Local YUM repo synchronized with Oracle latest channel
At install time I get the following message:
"Unable to read package metadata...Cannot retieve repository metadata for anaconda-base-201004051458.xml. Please verify it's path and try again."
Unfortunately this package is not in in my YUM repo. Thanks.A network install requires the entire contents of the installation cd's on the server, including "hidden" files like .discinfo, not just a yum repository. Easiest thing to do is download the installation DVD, and either mount it (-o loop,ro) or extract the iso, and make it available via http, ftp or nfs.
