Issues with Itunes not launching (Windows 7)

i have most current versions of itunes and quicktime (Ive read quicktime needs to be updated for itunes to work properly. ive deleted and re-downloaded both programs several times. Someone told me to check the Processes tab from the task manager and see what shows up when itunes is launched. It shows "itunes exe *32." So.... now what?

No don't remove Quick.ime, that has nothing to do with Apple.
So now QUicktime launches. Other software particularly some codec packs install unwanted Quicktime components that can mess up Quicktime.
Now Quicktime launches, and you check that it is the latest version. An out of date Quicktime can cause iTunes launch failure.
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
Could you also recheck the task manager, if iTunes.exe is still running try killing the proces or restart your PC.
If not, does iTunes still persist in the task manager when you try to start iTunes?
Double checking, do you get any kind of error message from iTunes if so, post it in full.
It might also be worth looking in the Event viewer to see if there is any error mentioning iTunes in the Application log.
If you find one double click on it and copy the result into your post. Using the copy button.

  • Having issues with itunes not syncing correctly

ive been running into issues of itunes not wanting to sync my movies. When i try to sync movies, all of my music i imported from cds or files that were not purchased off of itunes gets deleted off of my phone.Im running itunes 12,and ios 8 on my 5s.Been happening alot recently and its frustrating!!!!! Ive tried managing my music and movies and that doesnt help out at all.Im having to download movies from icloud from my phone which at times is hard due to the lack of reliable wifi.Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated

as rediculous as this is, I enabled "all mail" under the labels, then went into the actual apple mail settings and checked some box about updateing immediately (for deleted items) . then I had to quit mail then open it back up  - it "appears" to have synced properly. I'll let you know if it all comes back, but this is really a pain in the butt, I swapped from Entourage a few months back because it started acting weird with gmail.
anyone have any other mail options if this continues to not work? I don't want to have to pull gmail in my browser to move read items each day.
    thanks for all the help.

  • Synchronisation issue with Lotus Notes 8 (Windows closes - no synchronisation)

    Hi Everybody,
I am experiencing an issue with the replication of a Blackberry Storm (9500) with Lotus Notes 8.0.2. The Desktop Software I am running is version 4.7.0.25 on Windows XP Professional with Servicepack 3.
After configuring the synchronisation of calendar and address book, when starting the synchronisation manually, the pop-up windows, where one would expect to see the synchronisation's progress bar just closes after a splitsecond.
Although I have set the log setting within the synchronisation propertiesto the highest possible value, no log is written at all.
The Windows event logs do not show one single entry for this issue.
When trying automatic synchronisation after connecting the blackberry devicethrough usb with the laptop, the device is recognized, but still there is no synchronisation.
Has anybody experienced a similar problem before ?
    Any hint is highly appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance.
    Regards
    Tobias

    Hi,
I've got no Lotus Notes Client newer than version 8.0.2.
However I did a complete uninstall of the Notes Client and the Blackberry desktop software including deleting all the files from the user's profile, cleaning up the registry,...
After reinstalling the the notes client and the Blackberry desktop software the synchronisation works when only trying to synchronize the address book. When I add the calendar to the synchronisation configuration, the synchronisation runs until the Notes client is to be contacted and the calendar entries to be processed. At this point the desktop software crashes.
In the windows application log the error message "desktopmgr.exe, version 4.7.0.25, failed modul lnsections.dll, version 7.1.1.119, error address 0x001a31fd.
The file RIM.log provides the following information:
    On 12.01.2009 14:17
Synchronize Handheld calendar with Lotus Notes calendar
    First System:             Handheld
    Second System:            Lotus Notes
    Second System File Name:  Kalender
    Conflict Resolution:      Notify
Appointment Range:        From 12.01.2009 To 31.12.2400
    Input From First System
<following are the calendar entries of the handheld>
Not entries from the "second system" are written in the log-file.
Could anybody please give me a hint in the right direction ?
    Best regards

  • Issues with iTunes not recognizing CDs

I am trying to import a CD to my computer using the latest 64 bit version of iTunes however the program does not even recognize the CD. When I put the cd into my computer, nothing happens eventhough I have it set to ask me to import the cd (the iTunes windows doesn't open with the contents of the cd either). When I hit play on the CD in windows, the operating system switches over to iTunes but nothing happens. I tried reinstalling iTunes, resetting the system defaults for playback and autoplay, and the error correct thing in the iTunes settings. I tried the cd in both of my drives, checked the drivers for the drives, and ran the cd diagnostic program in iTunes and it recognized the drives and said that they were fine. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be or any possible solutions? Thanks.

    Check your registry settings:
just fixed this on my WinXP Dell laptop, tried iTunes fix unsuccessfully several times, think final issue was Registry Upper Filter type of 'multi-string value' as this allowed me to insert the enter/carriage return after GEARAspiWDM
I did the manual fix from Gearsoft below, then rebooted
Hopefully this will also fix related issue where store bought NOW 21 CD didn't work on my XP, but did on my Vista laptop, even thought all other CD's worked on my XP. Wierd....

  • Weird issue with iTunes not opening

I remember having this issue about a year ago, but I don't remember what I did to solve it.. So I'm here asking for help again.
I recently got a nice, large, fast external Firewire HDD... I did a clean install of OSX onto it, and on the first boot I used the tool that transferred all my programs and settings from the original drive.
Everyhting has been running fine. I think anyone wiht a G4 mini should run off an external Firewire HDD. It runs so much smoother and a little quicker than the slow internal drive.
Until... I try to open iTunes.... I click the dock icon, it bounces a few times, the black arrow appears under the icon, and then --- nothing.. So I think to myself, ".........?" and try to force quit it. I can't. Not by right clicking the icon, or by using the force quit menu under the apple menu.
I rebooted - immediately opon bootup, iTunes will work fine. If I close it, and then try to open it a few minutes later, iTunes will not open. It also won't open if i just wait for a few minutes after bootup and then open it (as opposed to open it right away, then close it, then open again later)....
I tried to repair permissions.... No permissions errors currently found.
Using 10.4.8, and the latest version of iTunes and Quicktime.

    See if anything here helps.

  • Updating Issue with iTunes 7.0.1.8

A few weeks ago I made the jump to the newly released iTunes 7.0. I had a slew of issues with this update (which by the way Apple has still not provided a working solution for), which I addressed in detail in this post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3170496#3170496
Today I updated to the new iTunes 7.0.1.8. There were no issues during the installation itself, however afterwards is a completely different story. When I attempt to open iTunes, I receive the following error message: "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed."
My first thought was to see if Quicktime is working normally. It is. No problem there. I thought perhaps I should try repairing the installation. So I went to Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Software > iTunes. I attempted to use the 'repair' option. This did not work at all.
At this point I restarted my computer and uninstalled iTunes. I restarted once again and reinstalled. When the installation had finished I received the prompt, "would you like to run iTunes after the installation is completed?" I clicked 'yes.' iTunes opened, no problem.
I closed iTunes and attempted to reopen it normally. It would not open, instead giving me the same message: "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed."
I thought the previous issues with iTunes not recognizing my iPod were bad enough but now I can't even open iTunes at all. This is absolutely unacceptable on Apple's part. It was bad enough that they released 7.0 with all its bugs, but at this point they should have their act together. Instead the problems are getting worse.

Please let me know if I can get rid of this feature.
    You sure can.
iTunes View menu > Hide MiniStore will do the trick.

  • Issues with itunes 10.5 on Windows 7 (32 Bit) When Trying to sync iphone 4S or older

I see a lot of people out there, specifically windows OS owners (xp all the way to 7), having issues with iTunes 10.5.  Here are the following issues I've encountered (some may only have one problem, others my have a combo pack of problems).
    1. iphone 4S or older won't sync or backup
    2. iTunes store won't open
The issue I found after using the diagnostics tool in iTunes (which is useless in identify scripting issues or major communication issues), reviewing the windows event log, and reinstalling all apple software and components, was the fact that my spyware and anti virus software was causing a communication error within apple's software.  I use spyware doctor with anti virus.  I had to uninstall spyware doctor in order for iTunes 10.5 to work.  After that, everything worked well and I did a clean install of spyware doctor.
If the issue still persists, you might have to reset your internet protocol (TCP/IP).  You have to run a command prompt as an administrator and enter the following: netsh winsock reset
Visit this Microsoft link for more info about resetting your IP:  support.microsoft.com/kb/299357
Finally words:  Apple, like all other software companies, continually encounter software glitches and issues because they don't test products correctly before bringing them to market- this has been a reoccurring theme for the last 2-3 years.  The most important aspect of using any software should be functionality, efficiency, ease of use, and above all "A Positive End User Experience."  Wasn't that Steve Job's mantra?  We can all hope that Apple embraces his philosophy and vision for the many years to come.  This, above all, is not a great start for Apple moving forward without their true inspirational leader.

Here is what worked for me for both 10.5 and 10.5.1 after hours of frustration with Itunes stopping and shutting down in the middle of a sync or tranferring Apps downloaded on my Ipad2 or Iphone 4:
Start iTunes in iTunes Safe Mode:
    1.  hold down the Shift and Control key together and click to start iTunes.
    2.  when you see the iTunes icon in the task bar, click on it.
    3.  you will get a box that says "iTunes is running in safe mode.  Visual plug-ins you have installed have been termporarily disabled."   [I don't know what plug-ins I installed but you should clearly see that these so-called visual plug-ins are likely the cause of your issues];
    4. click Continue to open iTunes.
You could already have your device connected to your computer or do it after opening iTunes in its safe mode.
Now press your sync button and everything should work fine.
I also disabled Genius in iTunes preferences but I'm not sure if this is one of the issues causing these types of problems.
I hope this works.  This may be the workaround for all of us Windows 7 64-bit folks.

  • Withh some issues with itunes I removed then reinstalled itunes.  Now  it tells me "We could not complete your itunes store request.  An un known error occured"  Anyone have this problem?

With some issues with itunes, I uninstalled then reinstalled itunes. It now Gives me the message "We could not complete your itunes store request.  An unknown error occured"

    "Error 42023" through "Error 42408"
These alerts might occur when trying to authorize iTunes or during launch when iTunes checks for authorization information.
Install the latest iTunes from apple.com/itunes/download/
    Remove the SC Info folder.
If that does not resolve the issue, see iTunes: "Error 42408" or "Error 42404" after upgrading to iTunes 9.0.3.

  • Having issues with iTunes 11.1.5 on Windows 8.1

Ever since I've refreshed my windows computer two weeks ago. I am having issues with iTunes 11.1.5. For some reason I can access the iTunes Store, but most of the time when I do something internet related on iTunes, the app is either stuck on checking for downloads or when trying to sign in. I am trying to update all my apps but only a couple out of 30 actually start downloading but they keep getting stuck at "processing file". I have used another computer with Windows 8.1 with the same version of iTunes and its downloading app updates fine.

it works at first then after trying to update a few apps (the third one this time) iTunes again stops working and gives me the 8008 error.
Okay ... let's try seeing if that one is the root cause of the errors.
Try the "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:
    iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting
Does that calm down the 8008s?
