Issues with Lightroom

I am using light room to edit photos and I can not edit the bottom right hand corner of any photo. Approximately 1/4 of the image.! Not sure what is going on but need to fix this problem. Does any one know how to correct this?
Janet

If you mean the brush cursor changes to an arrow cursor in part of the photo than this is a bug/glich that has been in Lightroom for several versions.  It has happened to me once or twice and a restart of lightroom solved the problem.  It seems like there is some kind of hidden dialog box behind lightroom or something.

  • Anyone else having issues with Lightroom 4 crashing constantly?

I'm having an issue with Lightroom 4 crashing constantly. It happens with 4.3 and 4.4 (I was hoping the upgrade to 4.4 would fix the problem but no...) I'm running Windows 8, 16 GbRAM an AMD FX-8120 processor (not sure if that helps or not) an NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 Graphics card. Not sure if any other info would help. I've tried deleting/moving the preferences file, creating a new catalogue and all the usual fixes I could think of but to no avail. There doesn't seem to be any particular trigger. I could be in the develop module or the Library Module. It just either gives me the blue screen (sometimes with the error "CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED which is a somewhat disturbing but unhelpful error) and reboots itself or the screen just goes blank and I have to manually reboot it. I am totally hamstrung without Lightroom and I have clients waiting for their photos. I am at a total loss.. Can someone please help?!?!?!

Sadly my research since having the problem agrees that the AMD FX are not good for what I am doing which thoroughly annoys me as it was recommended by so called professionals when the build was done in Nov last year. These so called professionals also failed to see the need for cooling fans in the box which I believe is definitely contributing to the problem especially when the temp in NZ gets up to 30 deg C I am definitely looking at getting some fans in there ASAP as well. Thanks for the confirmations of the inadequacy of the proc and the heat issues.

  • OS 10.7.4 compatibility issues with lightroom 3

i use lightroom 3.  i just had to get a new computer and got a macbook pro with os 10.7.4.  lightroom is saying it does not recognize the images on the camera, so it will not import them now.  the settings on the camera are still in RAW, so that is no different than it was with my old computer.   I'm wondering if it is a compatilbilty issue with the new OS and Lightroom 3?

it says " the following files were not imported because they could not be read"  and then says items 1-325, which is all of the images.  i am able to view all of the thumbnail images when I go to Import, but it won't acutally import them.  The camera is set to RAW only, no JPGS.

  • Slideshow issues with Lightroom vers 3.1

I tried to create a slideshow for a client using my previous version of Lightroom (2.7) but had issues with the selection of music to play in the background. Since I needed this slideshow asap I decided to go ahead and purchase the latest version (3.1) upgrading my older one. Well, to my dismal disappointment I spent the money and although I can now select the specific song..... when I playback the songs plays at 1/4 th speed ,,, just AWFUL !!! I know this issue has been talked about but I could not see if a solution so such was ever found ?? What is Adobe doing about it ?

  • Issue with Lightroom CC 2015's before and after (\) - Windows 7

Okay, I downloaded Lr CC 2015 and everything is working great except for one thing - before and after. I edit an image then move to another (settings synced but needs a few refinements). I finish the edit and hit \ to take a look at where it started. When I do so, Lr decides to go back to the previous image, thinks about it, then shows me the before of the correct image. After the first time pressing \ it doesn't happen again, unless you move to another image. A little irritating, but something I can put up with. Is anyone having the same issue? Everything is up to date; graphics, OS, etc. Also worth noting, this does not happen with Lr 5.7.
Any ideas, or should I post a bug report over on feedback.photoshop.com?
    Thank you,
    Benjamin

  • Workflow "issues" with Lightroom when used to using Bridge

Ive been using bridge & Photoshop to process and edit my RAW images for a few years now. I'd love to move over to using Lightroom to take advantage of its improved features and vastly superior response time. But Im finding working with Lightroom is more cumbersome in the processing part.
With bridge Id find the RAW image I like, adjust it using ACR and one click brigs it into photoshop. I edit the photo and save it as a psd. Often I crop and sharpen or otherwise process the psd file and save the result as a jpg in the best directory. The latter file is typically the one I show. With Bridge doing all this is straightforward.
With Lightroom its more involved. Using the develop module I adjust the image and hit Ctrt-E to edit the picture in Photoshop. A dialog box opens and I always select Edit a copy with Lightroom adjustments (be nice if we could say always do this dont ask me each time). The photo now opens in Photoshop but not before Lightroom has created a psd file in my RAW files directory. Why? So now I edit and save the result in my Before crop directory. I then crop and sharpen and save the result in my best directory. Of course Lightroom doesnt see either of my new photos in the B4 crop or best directory so I have to import them.
Is there an easier workflow that Im missing? I dont want psd files in with my RAW files and I want to keep my best files separate.

Mikepa, if you want to keep your PSD and "best files" separate from your raw files, then simply export the raw files to the format of your choice in the folder of your choice. You can later import these to Lr but in my workflow these exported images that I manipulate in Photoshop do not return to Lr. Instead I use Bridge as my TIF/PSD image manger.
In short, Lr for RAW; Bridge for TIF/PSD. Why? I have thousands of RAW files that require the efficiencies that Lr deliver, but the far, far fewer TIF and PSD files I create are handled better in Bridge (with it's tight integration to Photoshop actions and scripts).

  • Major issues with Lightroom 4 locking up my system

    Two questions:
Is it possible to re-install Lightroom 4 from free trial, without having to re-install every upgrade since Lighroom was released (that's the original version I bought.)
How do I re-install Lightroom 4 and connect the new program to all the catalogs/edits?  I can't afford to lose all my edits!!

You were right, re-installing Lightroom 4 did not work... ;-(
Here are the consistent issues im facing.
If I open Lightroom 4 and use it, it works fine for a while, if it is left dorment for several minutes at all, and then I go back to it, whatever I try to do it says, "loading" with the spinny thing, and never changes, even after a long time. at that point, I can't close it, so I have to "Force Quit" it. Rarely can I close the program without "Force Quiting" it.
If ever I open Lightroom 4 on my new iMac, my iMac will not shut down or restart, in other words, my iMac locks up on shut down and I have to hold down the power button to turn it off, which I have heard is not that great on the system. This only happens when I have to "Force Quit" Lightroom, which happens every time i open it. My iMac runs fine with every other program.
Apple support says it's an Adobe issue, go figure they would say that.
Apple support also said because when I got this new computer and did a data transfer instead of reinstalling all the programs, the old programs may not agree with they new iMac platform, not sure what that's all about.
I love Lightroom to death! I just want it to work like it did on my old computer.
Thanks for any help, i'm kind of at a loss.
This morning I deleted every Adobe program on my iMac, in hopes that re-installing everything including Photoshop CS6 and Bridge will help???
one more question, do i need the older versions of Lightroom and Photoshop on my computer? or can I just install the latest and use the product key codes that I have when I purchase the originals?
I wish i was more savy, sorry..
    Thanks
    Ricky

  • Import issue with Lightroom

I upgraded to LR5.2 2 weeks ago from 4.3. Install went fine, but I'm now having issues when importing my photos, Lightroom hangs partially through the import.  The only choice I have then is to force quit the program, which then freezes my computer.  Getting to be an invredibly frustrating exercise.
I have an iMac with OSX10.8.5 (Mountain Lion)
    Lightroom 5.2
Importing & converting CR2 files (5DMkIII) to DNG.
Images being imported to an external hard drive.
Nothing has changed in my workflow or software except for the installation of LR5.  I did read in some of the forums that there was import issues that appear to have been fixed with the latest release, however, whilst I DEFINTIELY have the latest release of LR5,  this is still occurring.  Any ideas? Another bug?
    Cheers
    Sarah

sure did. All permissions are admin & I'm it.  I haven't tried DL via image capture - LR4 gets me to the same end goal, tis just rather onerous to have to muck around with this twice.  Appreciate your taking the time on this

  • Issues with lightroom 5.3 update in windows 7 HP SP1

After downloading and installing the 5.3 update I could open lightroom and it seemed to work fine. But when I tried to open a cr2 file in explorer no known program was found. I instructed to use lightroom now found in the folder lightroom 5.3, but instead of opening lightroom the system tried to use adobe reader, which of course didn't work. Yet, now adobe reader was connected with the cr2 extension. I tried to restore by using 'open with'  or by using the specific windows settings page, but it stayed hooked to the reader instead. Lastly, I ran a system restore and tride to reinstall the update, but that one got stuck when trying to unpack. I cancelled the installation and now it is a mess. What should I do?

Thanks Keith for this bit of education to LR beginner.
Removed all files, but reinstallation got stuck again with error 1714 'cannot remove old version'. Needed to fix it with microsoft fixit tool http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall.
After that everythng was running at last.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Sony NEX 6 RAW import issues with Lightroom 4.3RC or 4.2

Hi all, having a problem with importing images from my Nex 6 or SD card. The image was taken using the 16-50 Sony Kit lens
Lightroom copies the images (RAW) files without a problem. However within lightroom the images get distorted as shown below. I have disabled all options such as lens or camera correction.
The exact same thing happens when I import the file in photoshop CS5 after converting it using DNG Converter.
The original file within the sony software is like this.

What you are seeing in LR is the actual lens-distortion recorded on the sensor.  What you’re seeing in the camera JPG is a in-camera-corrected image.  Adobe hasn’t gotten around to make a lens profile for your NEX-7 16-50 lens; however, there is one available from the user-community you can retrieve with the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader:

  • Loaded Creative Cloud 8 days ago. Bought photoshop and lightroom. Downloaded no issues with Lightroom, photoshop errors out each time I open it. Installed on Windows 7

I have been running Photoshop 8 for years. Upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 just so I could get Lightroom. I am paying the 9.99/mth for Lightroom and photoshop. I downloaded and am already using Lightroom. When I try to open photshop it will open, but when I go to file to try and select a photo, it errors out and says looking for solution and to close program. Totally frustrated

Holy cow.  Victoria, if I could reach through the internet and give you a cupcake I would!  That worked!
It's amazing -- I sat on chat with customer support for 3 hours, and they weren't able to come up with the solution.  He had me creating new accounts, wiping out various directories, changing read and write permissions here and there, searching for non-existant files, and yes, repeatedly installing from disc and from download, and nothing worked.  I've been searching the internet up and down, and there are some really involved "solutions" out there for this problem.
Thanks for finallly guiding me to a solution!

  • Printing Issues with Lightroom 3

I'm confused about how printing is supposed to work. I take a single image and try to print it using the 8x10 template but there are a couple of problems with the output.
    1) When using the built-in 8x10 template the image printed is not located on the sheet like the screen indicates to me. Instead, it is pushed flush to one corner and is actually too large (i.e. not 8x10). I keep thinking there is some simple setting that I'm missing but I don't see it. But when I create my own 8x10 contact sheet the image prints the correct size. What is wrong with using the built-in template?
    2) The image is too saturated when compared to the monitor.
    System details:
    Dell 2408WFP calibrated with hueyPRO.
    HP Photosmart C6280 printer
      - Color management is set to ColorSmart/sRGB

Somehow, you/Lightroom have attempted to create a new catalog and instead of a new folder name being entered, the name of an existing image file has been used. This screws up Lightroom, so resetting the preferences is the usual fix. When you've done that use your file browser to locate your catalog,  double-click on it to launch Lightroom and you should be good to go.
You'll find instructions on resetting the preferences here: http://www.lightroomforums.net/showthread.php?14226-Resetting-%28or-Trashing-%29-the-Light room-Preferences-file

  • I am facing activation issues with Lightroom 4

hi, do you, dear Adobe people really only own ONE working computer? i have a laptop for going out and a MacPro for heavy lifting. please allow me to buy one licence as i'm only using it one at a time...

That has been done. He said that Adobe was not in a globalised world. that me having a USA address, being stationed in China, through an Australian university and having an Australian credit card (those banks make profits rather then sending the world in financial chaos) was bewildering to Adobe who lives in a very 19th century world were each country should be treated differently, despite that software coming off the same servers, having the same call centre, and in my case, the same language. So I set up my account with my USA address and used my credit card and Australian university while living in China to buy Lightroom. The transaction went through. This is the email I received.

    Best Regards,
    The Adobe Store Team
    Please note:
    1. no where does it object to the mixed countries of my transaction.
    2. no where does it ask for me to supply my student ID (past the process to buy this software). ie no 14 days to register a student card as stated by service.
So one, I would like to install this software to fully working on my MacPro, so that i can continue my study, thank so.
two i would buy an adobe subscription for the USA address on my Australian credit card at the price advertised when i started trying.
Three Adobe catch up to the globalised world, it is so much hassle to buy your software, it should be a easy, fair and just (like the USA properganda movies say it is, oh China propaganda has nothing on our good old US of A...).
    Thank you

  • Canon 20D import issue with lightroom 4

I have recently upgraded to Lightroom 4 and when I connect my Canon 20D the import screen finds the camera, displays thumbnails.  However, when I press the import key the software displays a message that no photos have been found.  I tried several times one time it identified the photos however it gave an error message that the photos could not be imported because of an error.  What gives

I'm having the same exact issue, using a Canon G11.
Looking on other forums, I've found this:
This issue is fixed in the second Lightroom 4.1 pulic Release Candidate, available for download here:
