Issues with new router

Had to change modem/router unit due to Comcast upgrade.  My HP p1102w  is not recognized on the new network.
I tried the instructions from my original package - smart install.  Smart install did not start up as described when I plugged printer into PC.  Following backup instructions (which always suck), I  used the original CD to attempt a setup.  No such program as ssis.exe for setup included.  Also no EXEs that would start without error "invalid string".  Love those informative errors.
So I decided to uninstall and reinstall the software.
Got partway through, was informed there is a print job pending on the printer, so cannot uninstall the printer.  However, the printer no longer shows in Control panel, so I can' access the print queue to clear the jobs
OS is windows 7.  I am fairly savvy and have tried the usual suspects.  Anybody got the magic decoder ring to remove the install and re-install, hoping to detect the new network?
Ready to dump HP products and find something that actually works.

I see by your post that you are having issues setting up the printer over the new network upgrade. When trying to uninstall the software, it shows a job stuck in the queue and won't let you uninstall the software. I would like to help you out today.
If the Print Spooler isn't running the printer icon won't show in the Devices and Printers. If that isn't the issue we can delete the spool folder to resolve that issue.
How to Clear Current Print Queue In Windows Vista & Windows 7.
You shouldn't have to reinstall the software though to configure the printer over the new network.
Just reset the printer to clear out any previous network settings.
Turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise.
Print out a configuration report and make sure the SSID and IP address are cleared.

Verify your Encryption and Password for your network.
How to find your wireless network password.
Connect the USB cable from the printer to the computer, if it isn't already.
Then run the Wireless configuration to setup the printer on the network again.
Go to Start, All Programs, HP, HP Laserjet P1102w, then select Wireless Configuration.
(if the software isn't listed, run the CD for the printer to install the printer software as a USB connection)
Run through the steps to configure the wireless.
Then disconnect the USB cable.
Test the printer over the wireless network.

    Try the following to rule out a software problem:                 
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
    .- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network       
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Can't browse network with new router - HELP!

    My old WRT54G died a few days ago.  I replaced it with a WRT54GL which was the closest match.  Since installing the new router I can no longer browse my network.   I configured the new router with LELA as per the instructions suggested.  Could that have changed something?  All the machines can get on the internet and I can ping all the machines through the command line but when I try to look at the workgroup in the my network places window I get an error message that says:
    "Workgroup not accessable. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.  The network path was not found."
    When I run the net view command in the command line that also results in an error.
    When I hook machines together with a crossover cable everything works fine so I have to assume it's some setting in the new router that is preventing the browse list from working.  Here's what I've tried:
    Turned off firewalls both on the local machines and on the router - made no difference
    Made sure all machines are in the same workgroup - they are
    Made sure browser service and the peer networking services are running - they are
    Made sure all machines are on the same subnet - they are because they can ping each other
    Now here's something really strange.  When I rename the workgroup on all machines they can see each other.  Once I switch back to the name "workgroup" they can't see each other any longer and I get the error message.
    I run a small business and need to share files quite often.  I would love to be able to get a NAS server but I can't find any that will work with ALL of my machines.  Most of my machines are running Vista at this point but a few are still XP Pro. One of my machines is XP Pro and cannot run SP2 which prevents a lot of newer software and devices from running on it.  This is why I really need to get my file sharing ability back.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    I solved the issue and wanted to post it in case someone else has the same issue.  One of the machines uses a Linksys WGA600N Dual Band Gaming adapter as it's wireless adapter. Technically speaking this actually a bridge.  I needed to restart it.  That solved my issue.

  • Having issues with new iPad mini retina 128 dropping wifi

    New ipad mini have issues with dropping signal while I am in the middle of connection.  I can be reading a book or email and it will just drop the connection.  When I try to hook back up it says it cannot join.  My iphone 5c is right next to me and is connecting fine.  It is frustrating when  I am in the middle of taking notes in an area and it drops the signal and I lose everything.  I can be 5 feet away and it will not hook up.  Also, I have reset the network settings and started all over.  It helped for a day or so and it started all over again.  Also, I have reset and turned off and on my router to assure the signal connections.  I am now in the process of taking it back for a replacement.  Apple says it is a hardware issue. 

    I'm experiencing the same problem.
    But my old iPad mini is connecting fine.
    I think it is a firmware or software problem?
    I hope Apple will fix this issue on an update sooner!

  • Wi-fi issues with new 3.1.3 update

    Just updated to the new FW 3.1.3 and now my iPhone 3G wont connect to my wi-fi. It see's it but when I select it, after a few seconds I get a error: "Unable to join the network."
    I reset my router and still nothing. MBP and PS3 can get on just fine.
    Anybody else having issues?

    Reading this and the other posts on Wifi problems is disturbing. My iPhone 3G is on firmware 3.1.2 so not sure that reverting back to 3.1.2 will help as I have the same problems. It also appears that 3.1.3. will exacerbate the problem. Sounds like its time to harass Apples Support staff and developers to get a proper resolution to this issue as this problem is starting to really irritate.
    I use a Netgear WNDR3700 wifi router at home. It has support for all bands. At work I use a Belkin router (exact model not remembered) I see the same problems. At my mates house with another Netgear router (DG834G) I see the same problem.
    Until the last few weeks I can't say I've had any problems with WiFi on my 12 month old iPhone 3G (firmware 3.1.2 (7D11). However, these last few weeks this phone just can't stay connected to WiFi networks for any great period of time; sometimes minutes, sometimes seconds.
    I've tried manually adding wifi networks following hints from other users on the forums, but this doesn't work reliably.
    I've now done a full reset of the network element based on advice in Apple's own iPhone WiFi troubleshooter. I'll see how that goes. http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/wifi/#section_5
    I don't believe this issue will be resolved without Apple's action, so come on Apple please help us. We love our iPhones, just don't like to see issues with them!

  • Skype issues with new Retina MBP

    Help - I have a new Retina MBP with the latest version of Skype. I am having serious issues with Skype -anyone I call on landlines keep telling me my voice is "breaking up" - I can hear them perfectly. A skype test call works OK, calling my own land line seems to be OK, but all calls from Australia to US land lines experinece this issue. (I thought is was my router so had Telstra replace it - talk about good customer service - it was replaced no questions asked). Same version of Skype on my 5+ year old MBP still works OK (of course it is not running the latest version of Moutain Lion as it does not support this version).
    The Skype community forum reports various issues with MBPs but not this particular one. I would go to the Apple Genius Bar but they don't really provide support for thirdy party apps. Note I am using the built-in speaker and microphone.
    All suggestions most welocme - I really need to get this sorted before my next trip.

    Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
    Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
    Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

    My Hp Photosmart D110a will not work wirelessly with my new Netgear N600 router. This is the second new router I have tried. With the first one Belkin I could at least get it to print from my PCs. But never with my IPad. Now the printer will not print from anything. I have reset it, entered new passwords etc. spent hours on the phone with tech support. What to do now?

    I understand your Photosmart D110a model is not working with your new router. I will gladly do my best to help you.
    I have some questions and some things for you to try.
    1. Is the printer connecting to the wireless network successfully when you run the wireless setup wizard from the printers front panel or is the printer not found when you are running the installation from your PC?
    2. What did tech support determine the issue was when you called them?
    3. Here are some guides for you to try, these 2 guides relate to the questions I had asked in the first question:

    4. What Operating System are you running on your computer?

  • Issue with new Apple TV 2?

    I've been reading the forums and definitely realize that i'm not the only one having issues with the new Apple TV 2. However, my problem seems different from the rest, so i'm not sure where to start. First, let me say that the ATV2 is connected to my Wi-Fi fine. I can listen to internet radio, play movie trailers, etc.. I've enabled home sharing both on my C2D iMac and on the ATV2. The ATV2 can see the library, but when I try to open it, it goes to "Loading __'s Library" for about 30 seconds, then returns to the main menu. I've tried everything, from disabling the apple firewall, to disabling my router (Belkin N1 Vision) firewall, all to no avail. I've got iTunes 10.1 and OS X 10.6.5. I've reset the iMac and the ATV multiple times. Also, I CAN play music via AirShare, but thats about it. Nothing to do with my library works at all. I'm completely stumped and hoped maybe someone on here had a similar issue and fixed it before I tried calling apple. ANY help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

    Alley_Cat: Thanks for the response, unfortunately, I get the same results. I've also tried connecting to the iMac via Remote on my iPhone, only to get a "Connection Unsuccessful" error. So i've narrowed the problem down to something with the iMac (Most Likely). But i'm stumped on what to do here. Do you think removing iTunes/Quicktime and reinstalling them both would have any affect? Thanks!

  • Range and connection issues with new WRT400N

    I'm having two major problems with my brand new WRT400n. The router is located in the basement and wired to my seven-year-old desktop. Dependent on the router are three laptops located two floors above it.
    My first issue is the weaker-than-expected signal strength that my laptop is receiving from the router. The best signals I'm getting for the 2.4ghz and 5ghz configurations are "Good" and "Poor", respectively, which is below the maximum rating of "Excellent". Even when I bring my laptop right beside the router, I'm struggling to achieve an "Excellent" signal strength. The speed and connection are otherwise fine but my neighbor's G router is registering an "Excellent" signal. So for a brand new N router to give weak signals is quite irritating.
    The second issue is reliability. I'm consistently losing connection - both wired and wirelessly -  every hour. The connection and speed are fine the rest of the time (very quick and stable) but every 60 minutes or so I am forced to reconnect my laptop to get the signal
    Any possible solutions to these two common problems? Perhaps some tinkering with the router settings? Any recommendations are welcome and much appreciated.
    How does the warranty return policy for Linksys work? If the hardware is to blame  how can I send my WRT400N to Linksys? Will Linksys send me a new item?

    I'm in Canada so I have a WRT400N-CA made by Cisco, which may have minute differences with the original model.

    Also, under the "Advanced Wireless Settings" tab, the 5GHz titles Beacon Interval, DTIM Interval, Fragmentation Threshold, and RTS Threshold have been changed to 75, 1, 2304, 2307, respectively. The 2.4GHz section has been untouched since installation of the router. Basically I searched for settings configurations on this forum and plugged in the values. My connection is slightly more reliable after using these values and installing the firmware; instead the connection dropping once every hour it drops every few hours. I always have to disconnect and re-connect my laptop connection before I can start surfing the web.

  • On-Going Issues with New Serviices - New Verizon Customer

    Good evening.  This is the 1st time that I've had to voive my frustrations and disappointment on a forum but I don't know what else to do. I have only had Verizon Fios for 6 weeks and I have yet to watch anything on TV since no imformation is being filtered to my TV; I keep receiving Set-Top box is off-line.  My Internet and phone services were spotty in the beginning but they are working great now.  I've had 3 different technicians visit my residence to re-install the boxes, router, cables, and I had all-new equipment again.  However, I'm still having issues in with the Program Guide and all Menu options are still unavailable. 
    However, nothing has worked and I've exhausted all possible resolutiions to no avail.  The last technician was at my residence for 7 hours last week and had to call Verizon's tech support,  It was determined that it was something on Verizon's end that they needed to fix.  It's been over a week, and I have yet to hear anything on my current open Help Ticket.  Has anyone had any serious issues with their services when they first signed for FIOS?  I'm at the point that I am seriously considering cancelling my services even though I already made 2 payments against my account.  Most of my friends, new neighbors and family members have FIOS and rave how great it is, and constantly talk about all the movies on On Demand.  Unfortunately, I can't relate because I can't access anything on my TV.  It's a pain in the **bleep** when you are trying to watch something but you have no idea what the hell you are watching because the Program Guide is unavailable, including the rest of the Menu options.  I really would hate to cancel all of my services but I'm at a loss at what to do anymore.  Has anyone experiences severe issues in which they had to cancel their services because Verizon was unable to solve the issues?  Thank you for your attention and time in this matter.

    I have a Linksys wireless router which is replacing a older one of different brand. I want to use my Airport Express to extend signal strenth in the family room and feed the speakers as I've done before.
    Is there something I have to do to get this new Router recognized by the Express?

    Not all Linksys wireless routers can be extended with an Airport Express.

    I am trying to develop a scenario as mentioned in the blog using the new module available in PI7.1,but I am getting this error
    "Error: com.sap.conn.idoc.IDocMetaDataUnavailableException: (3) IDOC_ERROR_METADATA_UNAVAILABLE: The meta data for the IDoc type "ORDERS05" is unavailable."
    I have made every configuration correct and IDOC meta data available in both SAP R3 and PI,but it is still complaning about the meta data does not exist.

    Hi Sri,
    To Convert IDOC Flat file into IDOC xml from the given blog, the IDOC flat file should be present in standard format like:
    E2EDK01005                    0000047110815000000000001.........
    E2EDKA1003                    0000047110815000000000002.........
    E2EDKA1003                    0000047110815000000000003..........
    E2EDKA1003                    0000047110815000000000004........
    The Flat file have relationship as IDOC Number "000004711081500000" and segment sequence "0000001".
    If your flat file is not in this formate so i don't think that module is able to convert into IDOC xml. and if your file is already in this format then it may be issue with destinations which are created in NWA.
