Issues with SAPSCRIPT & PDF creation

Requirement: When a particular output type of a billing document is processed, an email is to be generated with PDF attachments.
I have developed a custom program and SAPscript.
But I am facing two major issues here.
1. When processing the output type via RSNAST00, the data gets reflected in the SAPscript. But when the same output type is processed via transaction VF31, no data is passed to the script and the output appears as blank for the fields.
The fields referenced in the script is with the dictionary structure VBRP.
2. The output is converted into PDF using the function CONVERT_OTF. Currently I have one logo in the Script which needs to be replaced with a better one and when that is done, seventh the window size is much bigger, the generated PDF does not open and displays the error 'There was an error opening the document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired.'
If I pass the same internal table to the function GUI_DOWNLOAD and save the file to local PC, the file opens neatly.
Kindly provide with your suggestions.
Thank You.
Ramesh

Is the print program copy of sap standard program? if not, do you have TABLES NAST declared in ur program and use NAST-OBJKY as the doc number.

  • I have an issue with some PDF documents   some MS Office documents, notably MS Word when received in eMail as attachments not displaying on iPhones, iPad 2s

    Hi,
I have an issue with some PDF documents & some MS Office documents, notably MS Word when received in eMail as attachments not displaying properly on iPhones, iPad 2s & new iPads?
PDF docs - areas of the doc only show as grey splotches regardles of viewer
    MS Word Docs -
inserted graphics don't display at all,
tables & lists especially with borders are broken &
tables & lists missing the borders &
tables & lists missing the 1st 1-2 lines of the lists/tables.
This is replicated on iPhone 4s, iPhone 4Ss, iPad 2s, iPad new (x2)
It certainly happens in iOS 5.1.1 & iOS 5.1
We believe it all worked aok in iOS 5.0.1(?) & prior
There is no problems reading/seeing these PDF & Word docs on anything other than iDevices.
This is rather critical for us & if not quickly fixed/rectified will prevent us from further purchases of these devices
Rolling back to iOS 5.0.1 or prior I believe isn't possible because of the BaseBand update(?) & isn't much of an option because of the quite noticeable Battery/Charging/WiFi improvements in 5.1 & 5.1.1

    Hi,
I logged a call with AppleCare & have since had explained why this occurs (some time ago)
I'll try to explain what was indicated to me.
iOS has a limited Font Set & this affects what PDFs can display. You need to use iOS supported fonts in your PDFs to see/read them properly
These supported fonts are indicated here => http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4980
Regards MS office docs, iOS doesn't have much of an API to work with MS Office documents at all so is stuck with 3rd Party Apps to try to do it.
Unfortunately Mail in/on iOS uses the API to attempt to open/use MS Office attachments unless you tell it to use an App to open the attachment.
I have had success opening & reading MS office docs now with CloudOn, but find it slow & very awkward to use.
Not too sure if this helps others, but at least it explains why this is occurring

  • Issue with opening .PDF files after recalling from Symantec Enterprise Vault

    Good Morning,
I am having issues with opening PDF files that have been recalled from Symantec Enterprise Vault and some of the files are anywhere from 3-4 years old.  Some files open, while others return the error: Adobe Reader could not open filename.pdf because it is not a supported file type or might have been damaged.  It is inconsistent as to which files it occurs with.  I am not ready to believe that I have that many corrupt files out there.  I am opening them on a Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x64 desktop. Adobe 10.1.7. I have already configured the registry setting for bValidateBytesBeforeHeader that I found in another article to no avail.
The files are on a network share, but I also tried copying them to my local desktop and still received the error.
I have seen other posts regarding this error, but do not see a definitive solution and am hoping that in recent days someone has come up with a solution.
    Thank You
    Brian Dougherty

Not supported file type can (but not always) mean the PDF was created with an old enough version of Acrobat, that it isn't comaptible with reader X or XI.
Might have been damaged is pretty cut and dried in its meaning and interpretation.
There's a known issue with Mac OS and Safari Browser "breaking" PDFs as they download, but it's not so common for Windows. Since these are files you already had, it would be even less applicable.
You can try downloading an older version of Reader to check if it's a compatibility issue, but you'd have to uninstall the latest to do it and it'd be a lot of bother if they still don't open. It would also mean they are "broken" and cannot be repaired, that I know of.

  • Issues with ODATA service creation

    Hi Gurus,
I am facing some issues with ODATA service creation. I have an analytic view which I want to consume via SAP UI5.
As per guides and blogs, I need to create 3 files, namely .xsaccess, .xsapp and .xsodata. I created these three files but at the same time .xsodata and .xsaccess got created at one more place. That place is my package which I checked out while creating the repository. Now when I try to activate my .xsaccess or .xsapp file, I get an error message - "The file name .xsaccess or .xsapp already exists and only 1 file is allowed per package"
    for more info please revert.
    Kindly help.

Certainly.  You just have multiple entities then. You can even create associations between them. Here is an example that uses a combination of CDS Views, Attribute Views, and Analytic Views:

  • Issue with opening pdf file from web browser

I have Acrobat Pro ver 6 and Adobe Reader 9.1 on a computer.  when my user tries to open up a pdf from the web he is getting the following error message:
"The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a WEb Browser.  Adbe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required.  Please exit and try again."
What also happens is that Acrobat Pro ver 6 opens up and nothing is there.
I am not sure why he is getting that message since Reader 9.1 is installed.
Can any one shed some light on this for me.
This user needs to have Acrobat and Reader on his system.  I understand that there are issues with having both.
Also he has it set up so that any PDF is opening using the Reader 9.1.
    Thanks,

Your PC's default reader configuration for embedded PDFs has become confused, due to multiple Adobe PDF document solutions installed on one PC.
    Solution 1:
    Go to Start > Run
    Type regedit and click OK.
Browse to the following key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe
Make sure that the correct Default data value is set for the path where Adobe Reader or Acrobat are installed.
    The default installation values are:
    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe"
    or
"C:\Program Files\adobe\acrobat 6.0\acrobat\Acrobat.exe" (not sure about this path.  Check on your PC to be sure)
depending on whether Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat is installed.
    Solution 2:
Configure the browser to use Acrobat or Adobe Reader as a helper application.
If you are using Firefox to browse the web, you can change this setting in Firefox by going to:
    Tools > Options
    Click on the "Applications" Tab.
The first item in the list should be "Adobe Acrobat Document".  Under the Action list, click the drop down arrow and select the application you want to read PDFs within the web browser.  Click OK, and you should be done.
If you're using Internet Explorer to view PDFs, try the below steps.
After you configure Acrobat or Adobe Reader as a helper application, the browser starts the helper application in a separate window and displays PDF files within that window. Acrobat and Adobe Reader both include a preference that lets you specify Acrobat or Adobe Reader as the helper application.
To configure Acrobat or Adobe Reader as a helper application:
    Start Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
    Choose Edit > Preferences.
    Select Internet on the left.
Deselect Display PDF In Browser Using [Acrobat application], and then click OK.
    Quit Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
The next time you select a link to a PDF file in the browser, a dialog box asks what you would like to do with the file. If you select Open It, the browser opens the PDF file in Acrobat or Adobe Reader (the helper application); if you select Save It To Disk, the browser saves the PDF file to your hard drive.

  • Issue with opening PDF files from the web Acrobat 8.1.4

    Hello everyone
I just found out about this problem today, and it manifests in such a manner that when you try to open a PDF document on the web, it hangs for a while, and then the standard message about Adobe Acrobat not being able to open the document comes up, and after you OK away that you get the message that the program shuts down.
If I download the PDF itself and open it locally it works. Is there any known issue with updates recently that creates this problem?
The system is running on Windows 7 32-bits, and Adobe Acrobat is a part of the CS3 Master Collection.
    Greetings from Alexander

  • Print issue with Adobe PDF reader print in IE9

We are unable to print Brava PDF documents with Adobe PDF reader activeX enabled in IE9. The same runs fine in Chrome with  Adobe PDF reader activeX enabled.
    I noticed Chrome uses
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AIR\nppdf32.dll, whereas IE9 uses-C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroPDF.dll.
    Has anyone faced this issue?

Can you print other pdf files from within IE9? Can you download the files and print them directly from Reader on you computer? Please list the steps you are using to print the pdf from IE9.

  • Issue with SaveAs PDF using XSLFOP

Hi, We have been using SaveAs method to generate PDF files using XSLFOP technique successfully, however, recently we ran into an issue where a very large report (about 100+ pages) generated a PDF file that could not be opened. We get the following error when we try to open the PDF file. “There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired.” We tried it again with lesser range of dates and the proper PDF file is generated. (Report was about 35 pages). So we think it has something to do with the large volume of data which is causing the SaveAs method to generate the corrupt PDF file. Any help will be much appreciated !! Note : In the same folder where we have the EXE,PBD and DLLs, we have two subfolders fop-0.20.5 and jre. Thanks, Chirag Vora

    Hello Chirag,
We submitted this problem to engineering 10 years ago with PowerBuilder 9 !!!
It appears to be a problem with the FOP processor which needs a large amount of memory to complete the task. You can find similar issues with other tools than PowerBuilder:
The oXygen-user October 2003 Archive by thread
As a workaround, you can save the data in XSL-FO format within PowerBuilder, then use the fop.bat file in the \Shared\PowerBuilder\fop-0.20.4\ folder to convert it from outside PB.
This will still give you the memory error until you modify the batch file to increase the maximum heapsize for java.
In the fop.bat file change the java start command to : java -Xms64m -Xmx256m ...
The option -Xms definies the initial heapsize for the java engine and -Xmx the maximum heapsize.
We believe the default maximum heap is 64MB and this is what it is running into (or running out).
Setting it to 256MB with -Xmx and it was able to complete

  • Issue with opening PDF file link from Safari

    Hi Everyone,
I got a problem with opening PDF file link from Safari 4.04. Instead of getting a normal pdf content, it shows some weird characters. Not sure it is something wrong with Adobe Reader Plugin or Safari?
I have uploaded a screenshot of the issue in the adobe forum (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/531870). Please help!
    Many Thanks,
    John

There's nothing wrong, except the fact that you have Adobe Reader installed. You don't need it, so get rid of it; it will only cause problems with Safari. What you're seeing is the contents of the PDF file, rather than having it displayed.
If you want to download a PDF file, you can either Control-click on the link and choose "Download Linked File As…", or you can Option-click on the link for the file and it will be downloaded to your Download folder (usually your Desktop).
If you want to view a PDF file in Safari, you don't need Adobe Reader; Safari is perfectly capable of doing this by itself and has been for years. Adobe Reader will only get in the way and slow everything down.

  • Security issues with connecting pdf to database

I have a pdf form that is being called from a webform as part
of a web application. The PDF has two dropdown lists that I was
populating from a SQL Server Database. I had created a special user
that had select access only to the tables for the dropdowns.
My question is are there any known security issues with
regard to allowing a pdf to connect to a database this way. The PDF
is being called from a secure connection but I don't know if
opening this database connection to populate these dropdowns
exposes a security hole of any sort. If it does, do you have a
solution to make this secure? I am asking because another developer
on the project brought up the issue of this design creating a
security risk and I haven't been able to find anything online
    discussing it either way.
    Thanks!
    Maureen

    Hello Maureen,
Thanks for posting, but I'm not sure I see if your question
    relates to Acrobat.com
Are you using any of the Acrobat.com Services as any part of
    your workflow?
    Thanks!

  • Issue with Auto PO creation

    Hello Gurus,
Kindly help me with this issue.
I have user who is using ME59 for the auto PO creation. When he runs this transaction with the "TEST RUN" flaged,in the result screen he is able to see a mesasage as "PO creation successfull" along with the vendor number for which PO has been created.
But along with above  message he also needs material number & quantity  for which the PO has been created.
Kindly let me know how to proceed with this request.

It is not possible in standard , not for test run and not for production run, not with any customizing and I have not found any OSS note that may allow that.
For any further information in the log you have to modify the program.

  • Issues with creating PDF's (Acrobat 8.1.6. and 9.1.3) in Windows Server 2003 (32 bit) and Windows XP (64bit)

We have a report package that generates customised reports
We generate the PDF's by simply "printing" to the Adobe PDF printer
In Windows XP Pro (32 Bit) the report creates the PDF perfectly
In Windows Server 2003 (32 Bit) or Windows Xp Pro (64 Bit) the PDF is created 90% perfect but some of text has slipped on the page.
Whilst we are looking into the report writer (Dev Express) I would like to rule out any Acrobat issues.
    With thanks
    Mark

I think it will work fine if you use the "Enterprise" authentication option.  It may have dependencies on 32 bit components.  So, that's why we must run IIS in 32 bit mode even though it's on a 64 bit OS.  That means CR supports 64 bit OS systems only if you bring down other components that CR uses to 32 bit levels.  I'm not sure if that is considered "full support".
We are trying to use the LDAP authentication option, but that tab is disabled.  Other tabs such as Active Directory and WinNT are disabled as well.  There maybe another component that we must bring down to 32 bit processing.
Is there a way to enable the LDAP authentication configuration tab?
    thanks

  • Issue with Adobe PDF Ifilter Extension version 11

    Dear Friends
Come across few issues while determining correct version of Adobe PDF Ifilter Extension
In my local laptop I installed Ifilter extension 9.0 but unfortunately this version is no longer available for further download.
Latest version is 11.0 and I downloaded from below link.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows
Just for verification, I uninstalled old version(9.0) and installed the above version(11.0) but going forth PDF indexing stopped working.
I have a requirement of PDF file content search and using Lucene.Net for this purpose. Lucene indexer that I have written is reading PDF content using PDF filter extension.
I noticed above code stopped working for any site hosted on IIS. However console, desktop and IIS express applications are working fine.
For further verification, I installed the same component in another laptop also but ended with same experience.
    Please provide some input.

  • Issue with Adobe PDF IFilter 64 bit

    Hi All,
I am facing issue while using Adobe IFilter for 64 bit, the section of code mentioned below is used to load IFilter for PDF IFilter 64 bit using IPersist interface.

  • Issues with a PDF Form

I have a few concerns regarding the attached image.  I created a form in LC ES2 and saved as a PDF.
When I click in the "Hours" and "Notes" column, it displays a drop-down list box. I would like to eliminate the drop-down list box from both columns.
I set the fields in this column as a decimal.  However, it will not allow me to type $150.00 in it but will allow me to type other currency.  How can I fix this issue?
Once I save the document into a PDF form.  I would like to protect or keep a user from changing the numbers in the "Hours" and "Rate" column.  How can do this?
Please provide some suggestions, and thanks in advance.

    Hi Patrick,
For creating Multilevel Approval workflow,  you can  implement it using SharePoint designer 2010.
Please refer to the following blogs:
    http://jamilhaddadin.com/2011/12/03/implementing-workflow-using-infopath-2010-and-sharepoint-designer-2010/#4
    http://www.nothingbutsharepoint.com/2013/02/25/5-steps-to-enhance-sharepoint-2010-approval-workflow-aspx/
Also you can customize a state machine workflow using Visual Studio:

    Part2: http://sharepointgypsy.blogspot.com/2011/10/create-state-machine-workflow-with_26.html
For Digital Signatures: Adobe has changed the behavior around digital signatures and SharePoint-hosted PDF files. when digitally signing a SharePoint-hosted PDF file, it will be saved directly to SharePoint if that PDF file is already checked out.
