Issues with text on different OS

Hi,
On the "credits" section of my site,
www.danielwaltermusic.com, I am having an issue with text appearing
differently on OSX vs Windows. On OSX the text appears normally,
with the links located exactly where they are supposed to be. On
Windows XP and Ubuntu 2.22.3 (only systems I've been able to check
it on) the links are located improperly like so:

If anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be
great. My web designer is not using dynamic text so that is not the
issue.
Also, if someone could help us figure out how to get the web
player to play songs sequentially (as it is, the player stops after
one song) that would be great.

I try not to use Iphoto, although it does sometimes kick in before i can cancel it. Normally, i copy the records from the card to the Imac hard drive.
I'm assuming the CF card may have been formatted by a previous windows machine at some point. Is this likely to be an issue?

My wife and I are on different networks ie GCI vs AT&T after we both updated our iphones to 6.1 we no longer can receive texts messaging even though both are phones say the message was delivered. we can however text with other iphone users as long they are withing the same carrier and with everyone as long as they are not other iphones regardless of the carrier as well as with other iphon users that are still using 6.0. My wife and I also have ipads with wifi only and the one we updated to 6.1 is having the same issue while the one that is still 6.0 has no issue and will send and receive messages with out issue even to and from the 6.1 devives that are having issues. I have contacted both service providers and was told it is a Apple messaging issue. At this point I just would like to find and reinstal the 6.

Issue with images in different browsers

Having an issue with different browsers -- hoped someone
could help.
If I open my site with IE, everything looks as it does in
Dreamweaver -- there is no overlap of text and images/etc.
If I open my site with Mozilla or Safari, it seems to
arbitrarily move up some of the images over the top of text. Not
all of the images, mind you -- just a few random ones throughout
the page.
Opening the following link in both type of browsers may give
you a clue as to what is going on. What can I do to get it to look
like it does in IE?

BW 3.5, BEx Query designer issue with text of the characteristics

Hi All,
We are currently using BEx 3.5 Query Designer to design the queries. We have one of the ODS on which we are querying for.
We have 3 different types of Customer in this ODS. 0Customer, 0BBP_CUSTOMER and 0GN_CUSTOMER. The problem is when we open this ODS in Query designer we see their text name on the left hand side column where it shows data fields as the same text name Customer.
Now the our Power users have raised the issue that it is very confusing even when there are 3 different technical names for these characteristics.
2 Questions I have.
1) Why is something like this happening? is it some issue with the Patch or something. We will be migrating to new BI soon but in the mean time if I could resolve it that will be the best. Or does it even get resolved with new BI???
2) what is the way in which we can resolve it?

Things like this happen, when it is called customer it could be different customers, 0customer is the standard R/3 customer and 0BBP_customer is objects from CRM and most likely 0GN_Customer might be customer from different system.
Sure, power users should be told which customer is customer and you could also change the discription of the object, to match the definition on the other system. You could also just create z object and replace the existing confusing object with something meaningful to users.

IS there a way to fix the issue with text list boxes where they shift (empty space is smaller than the text size) when two text lsit boxes are side by side?

Currently I have a webpage I designed for a company where I have multiple text list boxes side by side for the purpose of displaying data in each one based on a category in the database. So a text list box for the primary key, name, serial number, etc. I have to use Firefox as it typically works best for printing and functionality for the page. The single issue we are having is that in Firefox if the field is null as far as text the text are shrinks meaning all the data in that list box shifts up and is no longer in line with its congruent data in the other text list boxes. In other browsers that's not a problem and everything stays lined up regardless of whether there's text in the box or not.
Unfortunately I cannot provide a link but if contacted I will provide screen shots.

Fatal Issues with Text in Adobe Illustrator CC 17.1

I am having serious issues with my AI file today. Whenever I select a text box, I get the error "Can't edit the type" if I try to modify the text. Then it just pastes gibberish into the text box. A work-around I was able to figure out it to select all of the text by type (point for example), and then convert it to the other type (area) and back to the original (point). This messes up all of the text box spacing that I have in my document, but it allows me to edit text without the crazy errors I was having before.

It works fine when i remove the text box from my sub template. I tried to put the text box directly in the main template and it worked fine !! it is erroring out only when i use the text box in sub template !!

i got the below error when i tried to 'preview' the report from my report definition.

Maddening issue with text... trapping?

I have recently taken over as acting editor for a PDF-only publication with a very small audience. My previous experience with InDesign has been with preparing files for CMYK printing, so this is my first opportunity to prepare a document specifically for on-screen display.
I am using a background image on several pages within the document. However, it would seem that no matter what I do, the resulting PDF does some funny things to the text.
I have trapping turned off throughout the document, all my text is created from the [black] swatch, and I've specified "overprint fill" in the attributes menu just for good measure. However, no matter how I export my PDF, I get one of two issues:
(1) With "convert to destination" selected and a CMYK colorspace as the destination, OR with "no color conversion" selected, I end up with trapped text on pages that have a background image, even though the background image only covers a portion of the page. Pages with no background image display text properly.
(2) with "convert to destination" selected and an RGB colorspace as the destination, I end up with trapped text on pages that have a background image, but only where the background image does NOT appear.
This is confusing because, in each instance, there's no valid reason for InDesign or Acrobat to display a trap. I've tried creating a trap setting with 0pt specified for the trap, and it doesn't help. See http://www.caves.org/grotto/lrg/images/indesign_frustrations.png for a screenshot of the issue.
What on earth is going on? I just want overprinting black text to display as untrapped black text, and none of my export options seem to allow the PDF to appear as it does when I have "overprint preview" selected within InDesign. It's imperative that the text be crisp and legible on-screen, and the bloated, messy trapped-looking text is much more difficult to read at "fit page" -level zooms of less than 100%.
I'm using InDesign CS3 on a Windows machine running Vista 64 with 6MB of RAM. I have not observed any other problems with the CS3 family of products. The font being utilized is Adobe Garamond Pro.

I don't think you are seeing trapping I think you are seeing the results of flattening due to the use of transparency. Some text is either rasterized or converted to outlines. When outlined, text appears heavier because it does not benefit from hinting. You can reduce the use of transparency effects, export to a transparency-savvy version of PDF, or put the text above the transparency issues.
I suggest a combination. Make a layer for the text above other layers and put all the text there that you can without mucking up the layout. Export to Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4) or higher to avoid flattening.

IOS 8.3 issues with texting to Android Devices

after the 8.3 update, when my wife texts from her Android to my iPhone, or other iPhones, she get double messages and unknown number errors even though we are all in her contacts. Android to Android no issues, and iPhone to iPhone no issue as well. Anyone else seeing this?

I am having the same issue. No problems iPhone to iPhone (mine is updated but my roommate's isn't), but yesterday I updated to 8.3 and my boyfriend updated to Android 5.0.1. We didn't have any problems yesterday after we both updated, but this morning he was getting the invalid number error when he tried to call me, and when he tried to respond to a text that I sent him. I did not have any issues. He discovered that if he went into his address book and started a new text thread with me, it went through fine, but he has to do this every time he wants to reply to me. My mom has an Android which she has not updated recently, and had the same "invalid number" error when texting me, but could call me with no problems. Another co-worker with a non-updated Android didn't have any problems texting me, but she was the only one of the 3 I tested with who did not have a Galaxy. I restarted my phone right after my update yesterday, but tried restarting again just now, just in case, and now he has no problems responding to my texts. He sent me a screenshot of his list of texts, and the text that originally replied with the invalid number error also showed an extra 1 in my phone number (11-972-xxx-xxx) even though his address book shows +1-972-xxx-xxx.

Having issue with texting my contacts after 4.1 update...HELP!!!!!

Everything was fine with my phone, but after the 4.1 update, i began to have issues...I go to my contacts, select Brian, text him, then immediately or later on in the day (does not matter) i want to text Nicole..i go to contacts, select Nicole, but Brian shows up..then if i select another contact like Debi, Brian shows up..it follows this pattern..i was on the phone with apple doing everything possible, they finally came to the conclusion, i had a defective device, so i go to the apple store, i get a brand new replacement, all checks out fine..i get home set it up, re do the update, all still is great, but now its back to the same contact texting sequence..so its not my device..i was on the phone with apple again today, and luckily i get a tech who had an iphone 4 with the exact identical issue, he told me he was going to contact the team so they could be made aware of this..hopefully a fix will be out soon

I too have noticed this but mine is happening on my new iphone 4 that came with the 4.1 software on it. Has anyone responded to this issue for you? I would like to see a fix for this.
Another thing I noticed that I think is related to this problem is sometimes when I select a name from my contacts on the phone then select text message and then the number or email to text to, the screen will switch to the text message mode without a receipient and I have to re-select the person I want to text from the message all over again.

It was with my imessage. I finally got a hold of someone from Apple Support and she had me log out of my Apple ID login and log back in and that seemed to fix the issue. Something about the update messed it up but luckily there was an easy fix.

Having issues with text etc. shifting in preview. Any ideas as to what is going on here?

When I place type or other items on a page, they shift in Muse preview and when previewing in a browser. Size and placement of the text are incorrect. Why are these items not lining up as they did in the Design panel in Muse? I even tried creating a blank page with only some text center to make sure it wasn't something else in my page. One would think this would be a basic feature of Muse. Having items show up where you actually placed them. What am I missing here? My layout looks fine until I preview. I'm new to Muse, so maybe I'm missing something in my setup. Thanks in advance!
Looks fine here. This particular page has a full screen video background via a widget. But even on a blank page I have the same issue.
Then in Previewing it all shifts and the text seems scaled down.

This is for imessage and not text message, this can occur when people are sharing the same apple id.
On each devices go to settings - message - send&receive - either uncheck or remove the apple id.

HT4211 I have two phones with verizon and we keep having issues with texts coming in on the wrong phones

We have two phones that are on verizon, share icloud, and all of a sudden, our phones keep having our texts sent to the other phones. we recently switched service from at&t. It happened early on, and now it's happening again. What do we need to do for this to stop happening?

That's because you are using the same iCloud account for iMessage on both phones. The best way to resolve it is to log out of iCloud in Settings/Messages on ONE of the phones, and create a new iCloud account just for that phone and iMessage. Leave your other settings sharing the iCloud ID so you can share music and apps, and can trace both phones with Find my iPhone.
The alternative is to go to Settings/Messages and change the addresses in "Send & Receive" so they are different for the 2 phones.

Render issues with text

I have made a short 1 min movie, and have rendered it. I want to download to youtube, but when I try to export using quicktime conversion, it shows render issues wherever I have text. Once I get cancel out, it shows no render problems.
When I remove the text, the render problem still remains. I can export with quicktime, but not sure youtube will allow this to be downloaded.

Please define: "render issues" and also the phrase "Once I get cancel out"
