Issues with Thinkpad yoga on Windows 7 64-bit

I uninstalled the windows 8.1 that came with my Thinkpad Yoga to installe windows 7 64-bit because there was no support for Power Manager ( a tool that allows you to charge your battery only upto a certain percentage (eg 40%) which helps reduce battery aging when the notebook is mostly operated on AC power).
Doing that required me to fully clean the Hard-disk during the installation process.
I installed almost all of the drivers available on http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...
for thinkpad yoga and windows 7 64 bit.
Happily, this provided me the Power manager, and I can use it just as I wanted.
However, all these has brought in additional issues which are listed below:
1. The touch pad right click doesn't work. Only two finger tap works as right click.
2. The touch pad gestures for zoom and scroll doesn't work at all.
3. The screen auto-rotate doesn't work.
4. The touch screen gesture for zoom doesn't work.
I did install the ultra-nav and screen-rotate drivers, but I get error messages regarding synaptics ... not working and also sensor driver not working during the windows startup.
Any help please?

Just when I was happy that major issues have been resolved by constant updating, I am now experiencing this frightening problem. Mostly during startup, and lately in the middle of working, the screen freezes, shows very damaged image (like TV noise), produces the most unpleasant sound through the speakers and nothing works. I need to restart and hope that it will be ok. Sometimes it requires 2 or 3 restarts, going to safe-mode and returning back to get the issue resolved.
This has happened three or 4 times within 24 hrs. I searched in the forum and for another model it was suggested that epresscache might be the cause. I disabled the service, but the problem reappeared even then.
Any help please:

Issues with illustrator 10 and windows 8

any known issues with illustrator 10 and windows 8...version worked fine on windows xp....new computer with windows 8....now cannot seem to operate. Loads, and shows access but will NOT start up. help ! thanx ttp74

AI 10 is now 10 years or so old and was never tested on nor designed for Win 7 or Win 8. You should simply assume it's not compatible and will never run properly. feel free to spend your time with the compatibility modes and al lsorts of hacking with the security stuff and otehr settings, but to be honest, it will probably be a waste of time.

CS3 worked just fine but had many issues with Bridge CS3. So frustrating that the $$ to upgrade to CS4 seem worth it. Mostly works OK with the following exceptions:
1. Sometimes the file menu selections are non-selectable grey including fundamental functions like Open and Exit not even clicking on the x will allow PS to close! I found a workaround, I can select a tool that is not currently selected (like the crop or brush) and now the menu items appear.
2. The Arrange Documents drop down menu is blank except for the lower text portion. All icons are missing. Roll over text popup shows what is supposed to be on the menu but no icons.
3. I have setup Bridge CS4 to auto start at logon. Works OK but sometimes for whatever reason stays busy after I close. Task Manager shows Bridge using up to 25% of CPU time and the program is not even open!
5. I purchased a couple Canon EOS 50Ds as backup cameras for our business. Worked last week with CS3 and Bridge with Raw 4.6 upgrade. Does not work with RAW 5.0 in CS4bummer!

I had the same problem with blank/missing "Arrange Documents" icons. And I use NIK and OnOne plugins (CS4 & Vista). These plugins are all supposed to be compatible with CS4 and I use them ALOT - so I refused to remove them. Today I also started having a problem with an error re: needing to install a printer before I could select print functions.
I found the answer to both problems!! While researching the error message I found information from Adobe support stating that you should:
1. Quit Photoshop
2. Vista: Rename the Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings\Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp file to Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.old
Windows XP path: Documents and Settings/[username]/Application Data/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings/Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp
3. Start Photoshop - it will create a new preferences file.

The convert.exe to which the article refers is in the v13 setup files, and not in 13.1.

TimesTen issue with connection string on a 64-bit system

I need to write code in vbscript that is creating a connection to oracle timesten database.
The TimesTen database is located on a unix server, and the client application is on windows server.
this is my code:

When ran from 64-bit application it will work fine.(I tried it on a stand-alone vbscript)

"[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data Source name not found and no default driver specified"
any idea how to build a connection string that will work? Maybe use a differnet provider?
is MSDAORA provider supporting timesten?
any suggestions will be welcome!

So you will be running a 32-bit application on 64-bit Windows connecting to 64-bit TimesTen on a Unix server; is that correct? Assuming that it is then you need to:
1. Install the 32-bit TimesTen Windows client rather than the 64-bit TimesTen Windows client (a TT 32-bit client will work with a TT 64-server just fine)
2. Use the 32-bit ODBC Administrator applet to configure the DSN rather than the default 64-bit applet
Point (2) is especially important. 32-bit and 64-bit ODBC DDNs are held in completely different places in the Windows registry; 32-bit Apps can't see/use 64-bit DSNs and vice versa.
None of this is directly related to TimesTen; this is all standard Windows 64-bit functionality and issues.

T540p issue with ThinkPad Wireless 2 x 2 BGN with Bluetooth

Hi,
I have the T540p, an uplifting experience compared to the previous brand I had, however I have been suffering from a recurring issue with the wireless connection.
Once starting up Windows 7 everything works fine except the wifi connection which refuses to connect. Putting the computer to sleep then starting it solves the issue.
I tried to tinker with options to no avail. My technical knowledge is modest so kindly I request support from your esteemed forum members.

I’m sorry to hear that you have issues with wireless connection in your Lenovo ThinkPad T540p.
If you have Power manager installed, make sure that wireless adapter settings in Power manager is set to maximum performance as shown below.
Also, go to control panel -> Power Options -> Change Plan settings under the power plan you have chosen -> Change advanced power settings -> Make the wireless adapter settings to maximum performance.
Next, go to the device manager, select your Wi-Fi card -> go to Properties -> Advanced -> Set "Transmit Power" to maximum, and "Roaming Aggressiveness" to lowest setting.
Also, under the "Power Management" tab, remove tick for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". And click "OK" to save the setting and reboot the PC.

ThinkPad Yoga S1 - Windows 10 unknown device

I did a clean installation of Windows 10 on my ThinkPad Yoga S1. After onstalling all drivers I still get followig device missing in device manager:
Unknown Device:Device Type: other devicesManufacturer: unknownPlace: Synaptics SMBus Driver I already installed Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav Driver 19.0.12.61 from 7/30/2015, so this does not change anything here. What driver is missing and can Lenovo provide it soon?

Also have an S1 with non-functioning palm rejection. The pen worked earlier, but now it no longer functions. It works in that it can calibrate itself in Wacom Pen settings, but otherwise refuses to register. UPDATE: restoring default settings under Wacom Pen settings has reenabled the pen and palm rejection appears to work again. Note: I installed recent Wacom FEEL drivers, which are the drivers that work with this model, among other tablet PCs with Wacom tech.

On googling this seems to be an issue with java file handling on windows servers and I couldn't find a solution yet. Any recommendation or pointer is appreciated

I just analyzed your partial Thread Dump data, the problem is that the ajax4jsf framework ResponseWriterContentHandler triggers internally a new instance of the DocumentBuilderFactory; every time; triggering heavy IO contention because of Class loader / JAR file search operations.
Too many of these IO operations under heavy load will create excessive contention and severe performance degradation; regardless of the OS you are running your JVM on.
Please review the link below and see if this is related to your problem.. This is a known issue in JBOSS JIRA when using RichFaces / ajaxJSF.

I have an issue with the tabs and windows disappearing....?

I have a constant problem with Firefox now. I notice that with Firefox 4 and 5 there has been a reoccurring problem with the tabs and windows closing on their own. If I have more than one window open, one of them will suddenly disappear and I wont see the tab at the bottom anymore until I click out of the one I am currently on. It is very annoying and only when I get out of Firefox completely will it sometimes reappear. Even more frightening is the fact that when I move the mouse downward to the bottom of the page the page shuts out as if I clicked out of it.
I am wondering if this is a security issue meaning some type of malware or virus that is manipulating my browser or is this a common issue that has some unknown cause? I would like to know what the cause is and how it can be fixed because it annoys me all the time. Please help!!

No Issue with the voltage in general. iPad is being charged via USB.

Severe Security Issue with Sharing Permissions and Windows

I recently discovered a severe Security issue with the windows sharing an permission settings:
I have two users, an admin user and a parental controlled user. On my mac mini, i have a external harddrive connected. On the harddrive, i have three folders, Itunes, Iphoto (Package) and a Temp Folder. I want to share the Harddrive RW for the admin, but only R for the parental user. But the Temp folder should be accessible for RW for the parental as well.
1. I set the Drive checkbox "ignore ownership" off.
2. I set the permissions of the drive to admin RW, parental R and Everyone to "no access"
3. I apply to enclosed Items
4. I set the permission of the Temp folder to admin RW, parental RW and Everyone to "no access"
5. I apply to enclosed Items
6. I go to "File Sharing" in the Preferences and activate SMB sharing for both users
7. I delete all previous shares
8. I add the Disk and use the proposed permissions which are admin RW, parental R, Everyone "no access"
9. I add the Temp folder and use the proposed permissions which are admin RW, parental RW, Everyone "no access" - Funny, there is a new Group called "Temp" created which has custom access on both sharepoints
10. I connect to the mac over a Windows machine (NTLM auth set appropriatly). Now I try to create a folder on the root of the Disk share, I get a denied message.
BUT WHEN I GO INTO A SUBFOLDER (eg. ITUNES or IPHOTO), WHICH HAS ALSO JUST "R" PERMISSION FOR THE PARENTAL USER, I AM ABLE TO RW, DELETE AND DO EVERYTHING!!!
TO RECAPITULATE: THE SHARING PERMISSIONS ARE "R", AND THE FILE PERMISSIONS IN THE RESPECTIVE FOLDERS FOR THE RESPECTIVE USER ARE ALSO JUST "R". BUT THE USER CAN DO EVERYTHING IN THE SUBFOLDERS!!!

Any known issues with updating to the Windows 8.1 RTM?

The Windows 8.1 RTM is finally on MSDN. I was looking to run the update and wanted to see if anyone has upgraded and see if anyone has seen any issues with CC.

In case anybody else is using Windows 8.1 on 3200 x 1800 resolution and experiencing the same problem, I think I may have found a workaround. At least on this laptop (Dell XPS15) I can right
-click on the EDQ application in the Start Menu and choose to Run with graphics processor / High - performance (NVIDIA) processor. This appears to render the EDQ canvas with sympathetically sized fonts making the processes, and the attributes within processors, readable again.
I would be interested to hear if anybody has some Java font parameter that can be set to control the font size on Java applications, but for now the problem I had appears to be solved.

Strange issues with 1616M PCI on Windows 7

Hi,
I recently moved my production PC from XP to Win 7 64 bit and it pretty much works so far.
However, there is bit of an issues with moving between different sample rates. Not something I ever experienced in XP.
For instance, if my project uses 48 or 96 kHz I can't play any mp3 or wavs in winamp or media player unless I go to Control Panel / Sound and match the sample rate manually. Considering that different projects have different sample rates it's kinda annoying. Yet again in XP it all worked just fine. Is this a beta driver issue or another brilliant win 7 "feature"? Anyone else experienced that?

Here's a possible solution (work around) to the lag problem, that worked for me.
Open the Wacom Tablet Properties, double click on the tablet and make sure its in "Standard" mode.
Click on the Mapping Tab ->set the mapping mode to Mouse and turn off Mouse Accelerration.
I also either disabled anything that I didn't use.

,Issue with Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit driverw Hello, I have a 2004 Dell Dimension DIM900 and a couple months ago it began making a loud crackling noise sporadically. It sounds like real ear-piercing static, like when a microphone is being plugged in, only in short random bursts at alternating pitches so I originally thought my speakers were blown. I turned them off and decided to use a headphone set only to hear the same annoying sound.
I looked in the sound settings and read that I have a Sound Blaster 24-bit internal driver in my system, assuming that information is correct.
What can I do? I did the search and read the read on those X-Fi drivers that had a similar problem, but I didn't know if that was the same as this because the thread concluded that their problem was exclusi've to systems with Nvidia dual SLI graphic configurations and X-Fi drivers. ? Any input would be appreciated, thanks!
