Issues with vector resizing & rotation! (CS5)

I need some help and cannot seem to find the solution anywhere!
All of my questions come from this basic task: Dragging files from Illustrator into Photoshop
PROBLEM #1
In CS3, when I dragged vector Illustrator files over into Photoshop, it used to automatically resize the vector image to fit the canvas I was working on. It doesn't do that anymore with CS5. Now when I drag files over from Illustrator, it places it at full size, so I waste a lot of time having to zoom out, make it smaller, and zoom back into my project. I DO have "Resize Image During Place" selected in Photoshop, but it still doesn't resize it! I went back to CS3 and it automatically fit the vector image I was trying to drag over into my project so it fit!
PROBLEM #2
In CS3, when I rotated a vector image (usually that I dragged over from Illustrator), it would maintain the bounding box, but now in CS5 it doesn't! For instance, I would normally drag an Illustrator file into Photoshop, then want to rotate the image as desired. Then later in the day if I wanted to rotate the image a little more or less, all I had to do was select the vector image and it would keep that rotated box around it, and would tell me that the image was currently rotated 41 degrees. However, in CS5, when I rotate a vector image and then want to re-rotate it, or re-size it, later in the day it doesn't do it. When I select the vector image, the bounding box is always a box or rectangle, with all flat sides, and it tells me that the image is rotated 0 degrees (even though earlier I may have rotated it, say, 70 degrees). I'm not explaining this very well, but basically, I can't resize or rotate it more than once because it acts like it rasterizes the image, if that makes any sense.
Bottom line, these are HUGE annoyances for what I do!

Ok, here are the three screenshots. Sorry if they're hard to see. Adobe puts a cap on size...
In the first screenshot, you can see I dragged a vector image of a sweatshirt from Illustrator into Photoshop, and it didn't resize it. In this instance, my Photoshop size was 1500x1500. Most of the time, I'm working on small images (under 300px). So when I drag an image over, it's massive compared to my canvas size. It's a huge annoyance and time waster.
In the second screenshot, I rotated the images as I wanted. However I want it to maintain that rotated bounding box (and it would keep it in CS3), but it doesn't now.
In the final screenshot, you can see how it displays the vector image after I rotated it, then wanted to re-rotate it or resize it. It defaults back to a square bounding box. Therefore, if I wanted to compress the image vertically (make the sweatshirt shorter), it will skew/distort the image.
Did that make things more clear?

Curious issue with extrude and rotate

I've found a curious issue with extrude and rotate in CS6. It's not a bug, but it is a nonintuitive behavior that is confusing, and sometime troublesome. I think this is something that ought to go on the to-do list for the devs. Anybody else agree? Disagree?
Example:
I began with an arrow-shaped path, to which I applied the "extrude" effect. I then put an icon on top of the arrow, and grouped the icon and arrow. Now, I'm using this icon-arrow in several different parts of my design, in different orientations. As I rotate the arrow, the relative position of the icon and the arrow appears to shift. I believe this is happening because, as you rotate the icon-arrow, Illustrator rotates both the icon and the arrow about the center of the bottom face of the arrow. This is because the top face of the arrow is essentially fictitious, just an artifact of the extrude effect. So, even though the icon appears as if it is drawn on the top face of the arrow, it behaves as if it is attached to the bottom face of the arrow. When you apply a transform, that transform affects the bottom face of the arrow, causing the top face to shift relative to the icon.
The solution would be to add an extra check box to the extrude effect, asking whether you wanted to extrude upwards (the way things are currently done) or downwards. If you could extrude downwards, then the top face of the arrow would be the "real" face, the one affected by transformations. You could then put an image on the top face, group the arrow and the image, and when you applied a transform, the icon would remain fixed relative to the top face, which would meet your intuitive expectations.

but it does work because i downloaded your file and i did jsut that. it isn't exact, but your suggestion on how to fix it wouldn't fix it anyway. the reason the acorn doesn't match is because of the distortion from the perspective not the direction of the extrusion. even if you could dictate the extrusion to go downward, the arrow would still rotate into perspective (distort) and then extrude. to avoid that, what you want is to extrude in axonometric and to do that you make your perspective rotation angle 1 degree, then make your extrusion length a lot longer to match what you want. with 1 degree there will be minimal distortion to the arrow as you rotate it and the acron will match.
i uploaded your file with your orignal 10 degree angle, and you'll see that they stay in sync pretty well. i drew a box around the acorn to better distinguish the difference. then i recreated the same thing with a 1 degree angle and on that version it stays in sync almost perfectly.
again. it doesn't matter wich direction you extrude since in perspective both faces will be distorted. if you want to keep the distortion from the perspective, you can apply the same perspective rotation to the acorn without the extrusion and it will distort in the same way as the arrow. i added that option to your file. they are all group and you can rotate them and see that they stay together pretty well, except the first one is a little off.

I had the same experience with a new iPhone 5 that I bought last week. Did not have a chance to measure battery life before the 6.0.2 upgrade installed but I set up my phone exactly like my 4S and immediately started running out of power after short periods. Went to Xmas get together with fully charged 5 and 4S. Heading home the iPhone 5 shut down for low battery and the 4S had 65% power. Both phones had two half phone calls on then and no data usage.
That night I fully charged the iPhone 5 and, without lighting it up, put it on my night table. Next morning I picked it up and looked at battery indicator and I had 42% charge with NO activity!
Tried it again next night and wound up with 37% charge. (Slept longer).
Today I called the carrier and reactivated the 4S. Took the 5 to Apple Store and they kindly gave me choice of new replacement phone or refund. I took the refund. Uniquely, the Apple Store said it was Verizon CDMA phones that were coming back.
The are other strings on this with temporary solutions, but from my experience with 7 firmware changes on an HTC 4G phone the problem will continue because the solution will be hardware caused. We are in the days where RTM means Rush to Market - not Release To Manufacturing.
I fear the only solution is to either wait for the next model (I did not notice a really major change in performance over the 4S in LTE heavy Seattle area) - or switch to another manufacturer.
It might be useful for these forums to indicate if you have a GSM or CDMA phone to see which have more problems.

Having issues with painting in Photoshop CS5, can you help?

I'm having issues with painting. At the end of a brushstroke (not the stroke option), I see a little "dot" that appears, instead of a fine end. Do you know what I'm talking about, and how to fix it?

This may sound strange, but try starting your brush strokes at the top of the page. That way the tendency is for the stylus tip to lift at the end of the stroke. Going bottom to top tends to push the tip into the tablet. You could also look at Brush Shape Dynamics (F5). It looks like you have Size jitter set to pen Pressure, but set the minimum siz to 0% - if not already set so. Then it is a matter of lots of practice, and perhaps making full use of the CS5 rotate screen feature (r) to keep your brush strokes at whatever is the optimum angle for you.

Having issues with Illustrator files in CS5

I recently uninstalled CS4, needing the memory space. Now I am having issues with Illustrator CS5. When I go to open the program, i am receiving this error message: "Adobe Illustrator has detected a problem with the windows registry which needs to be corrected for Illustrator to work properly. Would you like Illustrator to correct the problem now?" so i click "yes" and the program opens, but then when i go to open a file, the AI icon doesnt show up on any of the files, it takes forecer to open, if it even opens the file - sometime i get the message "cannot recognize file type".

Your install never finished properly. Run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, reinstall all your Adobe software from scratch with proper admin privileges and security tools turned off to prevent interference.

Permissions issue with image resize

Ok I'm hoping someone may be able to help with this because it is really frustrating.
I realise this issue has already been posted in these forums however there was no solution offered that has rectified it for me. I am getting an error when trying to display thumbnails "Error converting image (create thumbnail). The "" folder has no write permissions". And this error when trying to upload and resize images "Image upload error. Error resizing image: Error converting image (image resize). The "" folder has no write permissions. (IMG_RESIZE)". All folders on server have full read, write and execute permissions, so I am really confused why this happenning. I have removed and updated the includes folder on the server with no joy. I altered the tNG_custom.class.php, tNG_insert.class.php, tNG_update.class.php files to remove the tNG_fields line to just tNG as this was throwing errors with PHP5.3. I also changed everything else per http://forums.adobe.com/message/2357443#2357443.

I have noticed that on some servers when you upload the first image to the images folder using the ADDT image upload function the thumbnail directory that gets written to the images directory is written but the permissions are not set.
If you use an FTP program such as CuteFTP or WSFTP to login to your web site you can manually set the permissions for the thumbnail directory.
This should eliminate the permissions error.

I'm having issues with the auto rotation feature in zommbrowser ver 6.5-

I believe this is a relative easy fix but cannot for the life of my locate it.
I'm using zoombrowser 6.5 and just swtiched to a newer version of the Powershot Elph 130is. When the photos are loading onto my PC using zoombrowser that are auto rotated- however there is a blue rotation arrrow on the left side at the top.
I had somehow in the past eliminated that- the photos are not saving rotated- rather they are reverting to the orientation they were taken from.
I tried support but they did not have any answers. I take a large number of photos for work so rotating each pic individually would not work.. I had this problem previously but dd not save the answer.
Any help is appreciated.

Issue with Adobe Flash Professional CS5.5 Security Update 11.5.2

As part of my Adobe Design Premium CS5.5 suite, I have Flash CS5.5 version 11.5.1.349. It sorely needs updating per the security announcement page. Also Kaspersky IS keeps telling me it needs to be updated as a security vulnerability. I've tried everything. I download the 11.5.2 update from Adobe's security update page: www.adobe.com/support/flash/downloads.html#flashCS55
After it downloads I go through WinZip to open the zip exe file. It then gives me a message saying that Adobe Application Manager may be damaged and I should update/reinstall it. I've tried that.
I've tried opening the zip with Kaspersky security off.
I've tried updating through the AAM. (Always says no update available).
I've tried updating from within my Flash Pro application. (Always says no update available).
(Windows 7, 64-bit, using 32-bit browsers)
Really need someone's help on this, thanks.

Just to give some ease of mind, I noticed AAM also isn't telling me about this and I am also on a lower version.
I only use Microsoft Security Essentials (basically low interference) and I'm using flash CS5.5 with version 11.5.1.349..
I'm on Win7 64 so I jumped over to the page and grabbed the win .zip. Ran it, installed fine. Now:

The reason why you see this is you need to extract the files from the zip file.
Open the .zip, grab the single .exe AND the Payload folder and drag it somewhere (in the same place) on your computer. You can drag it to your desktop or anywhere you like, just make sure you grab both. Then run the AdobePatchInstaller.exe.
It's a very common mistake. You always need to extract all the files in a .zip because WinZip and Windows Explorer let you "preview" whats inside but you should never RUN files from that preview. Extract first, then run.

Issue with TextArea resize event

Textarea is given the focus and then you try to resize it by moving
the divider, then all the text goes blank ! I've debugged it and

I would concentrate on fixing this. If an event is being created wth the proper key (check that) then the workflow should pick it up. You say you can even see it in the workflow log? Are you using a wait step, or have you set the event as a terminating event for the whole workflow? Try generating the event manually (with SWUE) to figure out what the problem is. This should work. Check the workflow log for errors.

Freezing issues with Nvidia FX4000 & Premiere CS5

Question, I'm editing a 1080p animation project in CS5, on an i7 3GHz, Win7 64bit, with Nvidia FX 4000, 15GB of RAM and about 500GBof disk space, plus an additional 800GB of scratch disk.
I'm editing primarily 32 bit frame sequences with some effects. Less than a minute into the project and about 6 layers deep I freeze when trying to build previews (lost the Mercury Engine after layer 4) and freeze when trying to export, its like I basically get stuck. Why is this happening, it makes no sense, there's enough system resources. Would appreicate any feedback.

You aren't the first to post that an i7 machine with nVidia card seems slow. Search this forum for i7 and slow. I can't recall whether anyone came across a workaround or solution.
Have you checked your power management options? Is it possible the processor is somehow not being brought out of low power mode?
Do you have an alternate video card (e.g., made by ATI) you could try with it?
By the way, make sure and close and restart Photoshop after making configuration changes, just to make sure it's using the changes. Just checking boxes and trying things could mean that it's still using the same old settings and the results are therefore inconclusive.

Weird snapping issues with objects in Ai CS5...

For some reason, when I want to adjust a vectored object (expanded as well), is will only snaop to certain places.
• Smart Guides is not engaged.
• NONE of the perspective grid is activated.
• NONE of the snap-to's are activated.
But for the life of me, things keep snapping to some weird invisible point.
Also, some overlapping objects, when I use the divide pathfinder tool, they divide all wonky.
ANYBODY? I'm dying, here!

Was the original from a Web new document profile? If so, turn off Align to Pixel Grid in the Transform panel.

Issue with '&' becoming '&amp' since CS5 install?

This is very odd. We installed CS5 creative suite on the family PC yesterday and since then we have noticed on certain site sites (mainly Flash) that were there is a '&' we are now seeing '&' ??
We have a laptop which is seeing this fine it seems to be since we installed CS5, its the same in IE8 and Chrome anyone have any ideas how to fix this as its really annoying?

I was having the same problem installing Flash 10 for Firefox
and getting the "Insufficient Disk Space" message. I believe this
happens to people whose main local disks have a name other than
"C:" Mine is "G:" I think the problem is that its an install
package that automatically tries to install it on a C: local disk
directory. There is no option to manually install it to a different
directory, so we seem to be out of luck.
However, I did find a link explaining how to manually install

At step 1. Right click the link and choose "Save Link As" and

Issues with Workspaces in Photoshop CS5

In previous editions of workspaces in CS applications, if I closed a palette, or moved palettes around and then selected a workspace, all palettes would return right back to the correct positions and turned on as originally setup in that workspace. Now, in Photoshop CS5, this does not happen. Palettes do not move back to their original position and closed palettes do not open when a Workspace is selected. Is there a fix to this problem?

Issue with Indesign picture box CS5.5

How do you unlock a picture window in indesign to add a fill color ???

Just select the frame and choose a color for the fill. If there's already an image filling the frame you won't see the fill color unless the image is grayscale, black and white (Bitmap mode) or has transparency.
