    Thanks ,

i've did some search on the same issue and it really seems like everyone have it , even thou at apple reseller showroom here in Doha-Qatar the sales man told me this a such issue in the retina macbooks and apple has admit it and you must take it to the service center and change it , while at the service center said a totally different things and that its fine to get heat ..

  • Is it normal for my macbook pro to buzz when i turn it on?

    hello everyone!
I am one of the many people that got a mac for christmas this year.  when I opened it, it looked like a normal macbook.  after setting it up I messed with it a little to see what i could find (i used microsoft prior to this all my life; and im only 15).  i was on it all that day, it started getting late so i decide to shut it down because i was sure i wasnt going to use it for a while.  so about 3 days after i opened it i turn it back on, and to my surprice it made a wierd buzzing sound.  i showed my dad and his thoery was that it could be like a fan or some other thing that spins inside.  i ignored it, and now every time i turn it back on it does that.  i have notice that it doesnt do it when i wake it up only when i boot it up.  can anyone help me, please!!!  i need to know if i got a deffective one so that i can take it back to apple.
BTW its a macbook pro 13" and it is the basic-off-the-self modle.  i havent upgraded anything or opened it up.

The sound you're hearing may be the optical disk drive sort of 'whirring' at start-up. If that's what it is, that's perfectly normal - you're MacBook Pro is just 'checking' to see if there's a disc in the drive when it boots.
If you don't think that it's the typical optical drive 'whirring', then take your machine into your local Apple store or an AASP and have them diagnose the machine... but I'm thinking that what you're hearing is the optical drive.
    Good luck,

  • Is this sleep light behavior normal w/ a MacBook Pro?

This is the deal. I just purchased a new MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel core 2 Duo and I've noticed that the 'sleep light' comes on and stays on when I have my Cinema Display plugged in with the laptop cover closed down (so, therefore, I'm using just the external monitor, not the MBP's screen). It isn't 'sleeping' (it's not pulsing in and out as it does when it goes to sleep), but the light comes on steady whenever I close the lid regardless that the MBP is completely awake and being used with an external monitor.
I also noticed that while I was in the process of migrating data from my powerbook to the MBP, when the screen went dark (non-activity) over time, though the computer was transferring data via firewire, that when the MBP screen did go dark the sleep light immediately turned on. When I moved the mouse or touched a key of course the screen came back and then the sleep light went out. I was very surprised with this. IS THIS NORMAL FOR A [brand new] MACBOOK PRO? Did apple change things from how the PowerBooks were set up?
With my powerbook, the sleep light only comes on when it's ACTUALLY SLEEPING and then it pulses. It doesn't come on steady when the lid is closed. So this is quite different from what I'm used to and want to know what is supposed to be happening with the MBP.
The MBP goes to sleep properly in the various situations I've put it in. So far it functions properly. Except for this sleep light issue. And after doing some reading here I found there to be a number of issues with the MBP's 'sleep' and/or power management systems. And I'd like to know from other MBP users - Is this steady sleep light normal when the laptop screen is 'not in use' tho the computer is still ON and working?
Anyone notice any of these things as well? Your timely responses are much appreciated. I decided to ask here first, as I often find other users as knowledgeable and helpful as any resource out there. Thanks in advance.
BTW, and this is a side note: But I didn't install the battery update (I think it's 1.3?) for my MBP because of the scores of issues I've read about it thus far. Your thoughts on installing the update are also appreciated, if you have any.
    Regards, Elizabeth

You have a macbook pro too (as noted), does this happen with yours? If apple changed things and it's normal, like as you stated that it was lite so you'd know you're computer is 'on' but I'd like to know for sure if that's what it's supposed to be doing. (nip it in the bud if there's a problem)
I know it isn't sleeping (not pulsing) but since the light is on (steady), it is something I noticed right away. For example, right now as I type this, with the MBP on my desk w/ the cinema display plugged in (w/ a keyboard) and the lid is closed on the MBP, the light is ON right now. Not pulsing, but a steady light. Doesn't seem like it should be, to me. (at least in my view)
    Thanks for your reply Josh.

  • Uneven backlight is "normal" on retina MacBook Pro?

I bought my 13'' Haswell retina MacBook Pro days ago, I've experienced the unresponsive trackpad issue and I'm happy to see it's already resolved. But now I've encountered a new issue, and it's about the display.
As the picture above shows, in low ambient lightning coditons, I can clearly see the brightness is uneven, the top left corner and the left bottom of the screen is brighter. The center of the screen seems brighter, too. But please ignore it because I suppose it's because of my poor phone camera quality, I don't see any significant brightness with my eyes.
I was considering replace it at first, but later I called Apple, the advisor told me it's "normal"!!! Actually, he said according to my description, my symptom is not very profound, of course I can get a replacement if I insist, but he really can't promise I'll get a better one since it's a normal issue on IPS displays...
To my knowledge, among all the Macs, only iMac and retina Macbook Pros use the IPS technology. I agree that my sympton is not that profound. The first time I noticed it is when I try to watch a movie in a dark night. In normal use, I can't say I have much bother. Except when I let the browser enter the full screen mode, since most sites use a white background, then I can see a small area of the left bottom of the screen is a little whiter, which is not profound but kind of distracting though.
I've asked one friend of mine who used the 2012 rMBP and he said he have the same condition too... So now I really wonder whether it's a common issue as the advisor said. Please download this full black image, open it and go to the full screen (or presentation) mode. Turn off your light and increase the brightness of your screen if it's set too low. Then check whether you have the same issue with me. Thanks a lot!

Yes, I also have the same problem on my late 2013 rMBP. I've returned the model 4 times already due to various defects. Can anyone see the uneven white balance from left to right screen where left side looks more yellowish?Very disappointed at the quality of the screen. Looks like this is "normal." Should have purchased the New Samsung ATIV 9 instead.

  • What is the normal temperature for MacBook Pro's when charging?

I really wanted to know because sometimes I feel like my MacBook Pro is too hot. I don't want anything to melt in there. So I decided to download a temperature monitor.
What is the highest healthy temperature a MacBook Pro can reach?
    Also ---
What is the average temperature of a MacBook Pro?
Thank you so much! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
I have a NewerTech external charger with an inbuilt battery calibrator. It provides 2 charging methods: it either fast charges or conditions (calibrates) the battery. Fast charging, which fully charges the battery in about 2 hours, causes the battery to noticeable heat up. However, conditioning, which discharges then recharges the battery, is so gradual that the battery remains cool (at ambient temperature).
The charger has 2 slots (for 2 batteries) and will charge or condition 1 or 2 batteries but not at the same time. For example, it will fast charge one battery and when finished switch to conditioning the second battery. This charging regime means the universal power supply connected to the charger can be less powerful (and smaller), i.e., it will deliver sufficient current to fast charge one battery at a time. Batteries may be left in the charger which automatically switches to trickle charge when continuous charging finishes.
The heat generated by the battery in the MBP is caused by fast charging and whilst I have never made any temperature recordings of the base of my MBP I can confirm that sometimes it gets so hot that it can be painful if in contact with the skin, e.g. resting on ones lap. This is normal. The battery also heats up when the MBP is running solely on battery power. Excessive heat could indicate a battery fault and it should be removed and examined immediately as any distortion, e.g., swelling, can damage the MBP.
An external charger/conditioner is useful if you have a spare battery, or two.
    Regards
    Phil

  • Is it normal for my MacBook Pro to reach 210 degrees?

During gaming my MacBook Pro will reach 210° F, without the fans audibly coming on... is this normal? It seems awfully high.

Some games will stress the CPU/GPU to such levels and higher.  It may even come to the situation where the built in sensors will shut the MBP down before it destroys it self.
If your temperature monitoring device is not showing fan speeds, install iStat pro (download from the Internet) which will show fan speeds as well as the temperature.   If at 210 f, the fans are not at 6200 rpm, then there may be a problem.
    Ciao.

  • Does your mAh dropping and gaining normal for a Macbook Pro Retina Display?

I may seem like an over anxious new Macbook Pro user, but I have been keeping an eye on my mAh, just to track what my Max possible power storage is. To my surpise it has been dropping and gaining over the course of a few hours. I just want to know where it should be stabilizing at, and what factors could contribute to the increase and decrease, and if that is normal. The numbers range from: 8562 to 8708 mAh
    Cheers

Yes, the fluctuation is normal - as your battery ages, the full charge capacity will diminish and it will fluctuate between chagres. Nothing to worry about - completely normal. My 15" late 2011 MBP, purchased this March, had an amperage in the 6890 range when I first got the machine. Now, after 163 cycles, it's down to 6810 mAH.
Perfectly normal - I could look again in a day and it will change again. Just what it takes to keep those ions on the move!

  • Is it normal for the MacBook Pro to make noises when I put it to sleep?

I apologize for posting a new question so soon, but I wanted to get my technical problems with my MacBook Pro sorted out before I go back to school.
I'm worried about this one thing that happens when my MacBook Pro goes to sleep. After I close the laptop and it goes into "sleep mode" every few minutes or so it makes this noise like it keeps on turning on then going back to sleep, turning on then going back to sleep. It never did this before. Does anyone else hear these weird noises when it's in sleep mode?
For some reason it does not make these noises when I press the power button, and then press sleep. So this confuses me.

I have the same problem after just having my logic board replaced.
