IStat Menus and Flash

Will iStat Menus work (be accurate) with the flash memory in my new MacBook Air? Thank you.

Yes. iStat pulls its data from all of the same places as the various Apple features do.

  • Popup Menus and Flash

    Hi All,
    I have created a you-beaut pop-up menu in Fireworks 8 and
have it sitting on the webpage just nicely however, on the page is
a Flash slideshow as well. The Popup menus are hidden behind the
    Flash content
Now I have read all the stuff about making wmode transparent,
    but it makes no difference.
Has anyone else come across this problem and found a
    solution?
    Thanks all.

A little reserved? I'm rabidly opposed to it. A menu system
    that can
generate > 3000 lines of css should be thrown in the
    toilet. I don't pick
that number lightly - it was actually on a menu that was
    posted here for
help not too long ago. Personally, I think you made a bum
    decision - all my
experience is recoiling at this choice.,...

  • Pop-up menus and Flash image

My development page has two things on it that are conflicting
with one another. I have a flash movie, and a pop-up menu. I would
like the menu to pop over top of the flash object, but quickly
learned that certain objects naturally float up to the top -
    Thread
    - But, the fix on this thread won't work for what I'm trying to do.
Is there any other way to get my menu pop over the movie? I
noticed the adobe main page has its menus overtop the flash movie,
so it must be possible, somehow. . . right?
    Here's my
    Test Page if it
helps to see what's going on. The pop-up in question is located at
    "What We Do" -> "Programs"

The key is a special Flash parameter called WMODE, short for
    Window Mode.
You'll need to add this parameter to your movie, set to
    transparent. The
fastest way in Dreamweaver is to select your Flash movie and,
    from the
Property inspector choose Parameters. In the dialog box that
    opens, add
wmode in the Parameter column and transparent under Value.
    That should do
    the trick!

  • Drop down menus and flash

    Here's the site:
    http://www.oldshoecreative.com/CLS/
In IE, I cannot seem to get the drop down menus to appear in
front of the swf files that runs below them. I've tried the "wmode"
and "transparent" settings which work fine in Firefox, but I can't
get it right in IE. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem and Í can't find the solution
    for this.

  • DVD Menus and Flash

wonder if someone can help me, im trying to make a DVD menu in flash, it this possible?
any links to tutorials would be greatly appreciated
    thanks a lot

No, not directly. You will need to use a DVD authoring tool like Encore or DVD Studio to build the actual menu. You can use Flash to create the individual artwork or parts of the animation to be used in the authoring tool.

  • Flash menus and html

Hi. I have a question that I hope won't be too complicated. I
have two Flash objects (A Top horizontal bar and a Flash menu)
inside a number of html web pages: <
    http://www.mikelrouse.com/>
What I'd like is that the Flash objects not reload every time
you selct a new page. I think there are two ways to do this: 1.
Have the whole site as a Flash document (probably to difficult for
    me right now) or
    2. I've seen sites where a new html page is loaded but the
menus and/or Flash opjects seem to "stay in place", meaning they're
    not reloading each time.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to do this in
    Dreamweaver?
I would oh so grateful. Thanks in advance!

Go to the Flash forum for this.

  • Battery status, and iStat Menus random freezes

So this weird bug i've been experiencing lately with mavericks! The OS runs fine, but from time to time, the battery status freezes, whether its during usage or during charging. It would just hang there at a fixed value, and a reboot later would fix it! The same thing with iStat menus. Any readings would freeze until again, a reboot is made.
Anyone experiencing this issue? Any ideas what might have caused this?

PS: I did a disk verification, and permissions repair once, followed by a reboot which also fixed the issue! The issue would happen again like a week later though!! Do we really need to keep on repairing disk permissions every now and then? It's cumbersum

  • Problem with dreamweaver and Flash

Hi, maybe someone can help me, i have any problem with
dreamweaver and flash, i have a page and i have a menu and
    sub-menu, and the same page i have a category en flash 550 x 700 (
photography and more... ) but when the menu to unfold
the menu to see under flash and it cant see ( sorry my
english is bad.... i hope you can understand me, and help me.. )
i dont now why always flash ever stay up, or first, and
another information under flash... this a problem... if you have
    menus...
    thanks.... have nice day.....

This is a drawback of using flash or any other active
content. By default, all active content including flash will
display over every other content and thats why your menu stays
under the flash movie. Some people make the flash background
transparent to show content under the flash movie, but that will
    not work for menu items.
I would suggest that you make the menu such that it does not
    overlap with the flash movie.

  • Istat menus version 3.23 not working correctly on MBP mid 2012

I purchased iStat menus for my MBP (no r) mid 2012 and it does not seem to work right. It seems to install ok without any messages popping up but once installed where I get the chosen options onto the menu bar I have a problem.
When I click on say CPU or any of the others, a window shows the details but when I then click in that window, at the bottom on EDIT I get a message saying:
Tried uninstalling iSta menus and reinstalling but no go.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

You are on the other side of the world!   I don't use iStat.  No need to.
The only thing I can suggest is to either trash its .plist file if it has one or trash it altogether and reinstall iStat.

  • IStat Menus freezes in Mountain Lion

Is anyone else having trouble with iStat Menus in Mountain Lion? Ever since I upgraded, my iStat has been freezing randomly. It will sometimes freeze for hours and then unfreeze briefly and then freeze up again. I can tell because my clock has seconds turned on, and when I hover over the iStat Menu section of my menu bar, I get beachball.
I tried changing my clock/calendar so it's only the calendar icon and then adding my regular Mac clock and calendar back, and moving most of my regular system icons to the right of the iStat icons (e.g., WiFi, VPN, Time Machine, Sync, system clock/calendar), but they still freeze up when iStat does. The only icons that don't freeze are Dropbox and Clusters, which are to the left of iState, and Spotlight and the Notifications icon, which are to the right of iStat. The VPN icon used to be to the left, but I moved it to see if that would help; it didn't.
This is making me want to uninstall iStat Menus, which is a shame, because I loved the program until Mountain Lion hit. I used it every day.

Ugh. I haven't tried this yet, mostly because I have a lot going on in my life right now (writing an M.F.A. thesis) and don't have time to wait on something to happen to my computer while in guest mode (in which I can't access my files and go about my business, in the meantime).
    Hmm.
It's a good suggestion, though. I'll see if I can carve out some time to try it sometime.

  • Spry and Flash not liking each other

I'm currently working on a small site for a commercial
director and the client wants it where when you rollover the
thumbnail images for his commercials, they grow a bit and that's a
perfect use for Spry's Grow/Shrink effect. Only problem is once I
add this effect, the Flash movie completely disappears from the
page and the rest of the contents moves up. So you don't even get a
    blank square.
    Here's what I'm talking about:
    http://www.josephimartinez.com/commercials/index.html
and here's a page without Spry where the video shows up:
    http://www.josephimartinez.com/commercials/index2.html
I know there are problems with Flash and JavaScript not
playing nice with each other. Especially on pages that utilize
Javascript dropdown menus and they can collide with Flash movies.
Is this similar? Seems even worse to me.

Does it stop you from loading and playing the game? I get similar errors every time I start anything wine related. The exact same messages come up when I have a MIDI to USB device plugged in on one machine and for some reason again on another because wine confuses my internal modem as a sound card. I ignore it and everything still works fine so it might not be something to worry about.
Quite honestly, their probably just a result of a hack in there alsa code. They probably don't properly differentiate sound devices and just assume that everything detected as sound related is a sound card. So wine gets a little confused when things don't, say, support mixing.
If its preventing you from playing the game, I don't think this is the show stopper.

  • Slow connecting to internet and Flash frequently quits

My iMac has been very slow over the past while. I am on Snow Leopard, and have all the updates.
It takes a very long time to connect to internet and also to webpages. Simple commands such as inputing text and dropping menus take forever. I have that coloured pinwheel running for very long periods while attempting to make the connections or garnering responses to commands. Often the tasks will time out. I've been getting messages such as "Safari has shut down, there is a problem with flash, this error will be reported to Apple" and frequently I'll get a message that Flash has inexplicably quit. I've had the computer lock up and the only thing I can do is to shut down the computer, losing all my opened pages and unsaved data.
I don't know if it would make any difference, but I have asked my service provider to send me a new modem. I have DSL and ethernet.
Is it possible that Flash is corrupt and should I reinstall, or are the other problems, such as slowness, etc not a Flash related?
I know I have a lot of old emails and other files which I have to clean out. Does this have a bearing? I have cleared history, removed cookies, and performed other cleanup tasks.
My trial support period with Apple support has expired, so have no recourse through them.
    Thanks,
    Ted

Ted, that does seem odd. Did you do a control-click (i.e. hold down the Control key while clicking) on the Macintosh HD icon? It should have presented a small menu of options, of which one is Get Info. Alternatively, if you have a two-button mouse, right-clicking the icon should have behaved similarly.
You’ve got plenty of available disk space, so a crowded disk can be ruled out.
The number of bookmarks should not have any effect on the browser’s speed. The size of your inbox theoretically could affect the speed at which you download e-mail, but you have enough available disk space that it shouldn’t be an issue.
If you use Apple’s Mail program, does it offer an option to download e-mail but keep it on your ISP’s servers? If so, do you use that option? If you do, then that could certainly slow down your e-mail downloads if you have a large inbox, since your e-mail program would spend time figuring out what has already been downloaded vs. what needs to be downloaded — and if you check for e-mail often, then that processing could slow down your browsing.
For both Flash and Firefox, the download will only overwrite packages of the same name if they already exist; thus, the commands above would overwrite Firefox.dmg and Flash.dmg on your desktop only if they already exist by those names there. Once the packages are executed, they will overwrite applications of the same name if they already exist. Thus, if you haven’t previously installed Firefox on your computer, by definition no previous Firefox can be overwritten; but if you install a newer version of Firefox in the future, then it will overwrite any version installed in the past — but your bookmarks, plug-ins, &c. won’t be affected by the overwrite, since they’re stored in a separate area of your disk. Executing a Flash package will overwrite the version that is already installed.

  • Is Mountain Lion 10.8.1 Causing GPU Usage to be 100% (iStat Menus)?

I'm running a Macbook Pro (8,2) with a 2.3GHz Core i7 Processor, 16GB of Ram, 480GB OWC SSD, High-Res Screen (BTO).  I just upgraded to Mountain Lion from Lion, and now notice that iStat Menus is reporting 100% GPU usage.  Is anyone else seeing this?  It never decreases; always stays at 100%.  There seems to be quite a bit of chatter about this over at MacRumors forums and MacUpdate.  Based on their Twitter feed, Bjango seems to believe that this is a Mountain Lion issue/bug.
    Anyone else seeing this?

It is an issue of iStat. On my iMac with the same GPU it show also 100%. But Open GL Driver Monitor show about 13%.

  • FireFox 4.0 won't access some PDF links and Flash Links

When going to this web site I just see the URL at the top "Go to this web site", and the content field below is white page which never populates. When I go to the website http://deuxave.com/menus and click on one of the Flash button links for one of the menu type selections, nothing happens.

Thanks for your response, the thing is I don't want the end user to have to go through these steps in order to be able to see my pdf file as it renders in older versions of Firefox.
What I've noticed is the use of buttons and interactivity is not been rendered, so it doesn't even show up in the page. The drop shadows applied within InDesign are also not been properly render by the browser, making the background of the image surrounded by dark background.
I have temporarily fixed the problem by getting rid of my drop shadows and using regular hyperlinks on text instead of interactive buttons.
Hope this issue gets fixed, since interactive pdfs is widely used today.
    Thanks

  • Pop up menus with Flash ?

Well. Here is a situation: I have created a Popup menu on
HTML, this is above a flash banner (Like the first page of
www.adobe.com) But, when I click on the button, no option is played
over the flash banner... I do not know why. it looks like cutted...
only those options which doesn't cover the flash banner appear.
So, as a first option I want to know what to do with HTML in
order to make it work (like adobe.com), as a second alternative, I
would like to know how to create popup menus with Flash. Thanx,
    Appreciate any help,

    I suggest either:
Take a class about flash at a community college OR
But a fully functional flash menu bar. They are customizeable
and usually can be insterted into HTML.
but in order to customize it you have to learn alot about
    flash and the component window.
But if you are really good at flash disregard the course in
    flash and buy one.
You can create your own in a movie clip and apply that to
    most of your SWF.
    Good luck
