Istopmotion 2 and camera compatability

Hi,
I've recently bought a copy of i-stopmotion2 for animation and have been searching for a camcorder with a live feed to work in conjunction with the program. This is easier said than done.
I've bought a JVC GZ-MG330 Hard Disk Camcorder which is compatible with my I-Mac. However, I can't get I Stop Motion 2 to recognise it as a source device. It only recognises the inbuilt webcam. Does this mean that the JVC camera is not compatible or am I missing something straightforward?
Thanks

the spec for the camera states it is USB connection only
iStop requires a Firewire connection to work
looks like you bought the wrong camera

  • IPhoto 6 and Camera Compatibility

I recently upgraded my OS to 10.5.8 from 10.4... I know very late. I had no intention until the upgrade to my iPhone 3GS required it. Regardless, I am running IPhoto 6.0.6 and it has worked fine. I own a Canon T1i EOS Rebel digital camera. Up until the conversion to Leopard, I would plug the camera into the port and iPhoto would open up and transfer the pics without an issue. Today, I tried to upload pictures, the USB cord was secure on both sides and nothing happened. I turned the camera on and off twice to see if by starting it up connected would change things, nothing did. I ensured that the battery is charged in the camera and that the sleep setting was not tampered with thus not allowing it to transfer.
I am suspicious about the upgrade to Leopard causing this incompatibility issue with my camera. When I did a search on the apple website, the page about iPhoto 6 and camera compatibility is a dead link. So a couple of questions if someone would be kind enough to help me out with:
    1) Is the import of pictures not occuring because of an incompatibility issue between my camera and iPhoto 6 suddenly? Or is incompatibility between 10.5.8 and iPhoto 6?
    2) What is the best solution? Upgrade to iLife '11? Or will that require upgrading to Snow Leopard as well? Or is it better to buy the $129 bundle of Snow Leopard, iLife and iWork for compatibility issues?
    3) Lastly, is there a webpage on apple that shows these compatibility issues? For instance, if I upgrade one thing in the future, all the other software suites that need updating as well?
Thanks in advance to whomever can help me.
    Cheers,
    -Tod

    1) Is the import of pictures not occuring because of an incompatibility issue between my camera and iPhoto 6 suddenly? Or is incompatibility between 10.5.8 and iPhoto 6?
Neither. The usual cause for this issue can be a damaged plist file, a setting on the camera or Mac or minor directory damage on the card.
Plist file: Can you access the card with Image Capture (in your Applications Folder)? If so, you might try trash the iPhoto plist file, if not try trash the Image Capture plist file as well.
Settings: What's set to happen when you connect the camera? With iPhoto 6 that's in the Image Capture. Your camera has two modes for talking to the Mac: Mass Storage and PTP. What one are you set to? Try the other one.
Directory Damage: Have you tried using a USB Card Reader? Can the Mac see the card in that?

  • Upgrade to 3.5 and camera compatibility

I'm debating whether to upgrade from FCE 3.0 to 3.5. My Sony camera is not listed under the supported devices (DCR-TRV22), HOWEVER - it wasn't listed either when I bought 3.0. yeah it's firewire and probably WILL work, but Apple Store will not allow a software return if it doesn't work...
    1) can anyone testify to this camera's compatibility...? (let me hear you say AMEN !!)
    2) are the enhancements in 3.5 with the $99 USD ?
    thanks, all

The supported devices list has never been comprehensive and never can be. The DCR-TRV22 should work fine but if you have doubts, take it in to the Apple store and try it out. Many people do that before buying.
In regard to FCE 3.5 yes there are new features, probably the most popular is the ability to fully keyframe effects. Check the FCE product info for more details.

  • Lightroom and camera compatibility?

I read elsewhere where someone said their new camera was not compatible with Lightroom 2.0.  This struck me as a bit odd but I wanted to double check this before making the purchase.  I know my pc is compatible with 2.0.   My camera is Nikon D80 and I shoot in both JPEG and RAW. Thanks!

The full list of supported camears can be seen here.

  • Using LR2 w/ Photoshop CS2 and Camera Raw 3.7

    I am using Photoshop CS2 and Camera Raw 3.7 on a Mac G4, OS X 10.4.11.
I am about to install my upgrade to Lightroom 2. Is this a bad idea?
I have read about some compatibility issues re Camera Raw, and I have also read about how to solve the issue of exporting the keywords.
Will this keyword issue fix work on my system?
What are the real-world practical implications of still having Camera Raw 3.7? I usually adjust images in Lightroom, then any further adjustment is done in Photoshop (not CR). So is the only downside going to be that if I revisit the image in Camera Raw, the adjustments will not show up? Or will it also not show up in Bridge?? And if it is only in CR, is it that the image does not have the adjustments; or does it show the adjusted image, but has just all the sliders zeroed out?
I am hot to install LR2, but I want to make sure that I am not going to open a can of worms. And yes, I could buy PS CS4 (which would get me CR 4.5), and I would like to, but I don't have a G5. And I cannot afford to buy a new desktop computer right now.
Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    >so is the LR version of RAW as good as the one in CS3?
It's far better as it has local adjustments and such. Lightroom is more equivalent to the ACR in CS4. To make changes you make to images in ACR outside Lightroom show up in Lightroom, you need to sync the metadata. ACR does not write the changes to RAW images to the Lightroom database, but it writes it into xmp sidecars either right next to the RAW file or embedded into it. So Lightroom has no idea you did anything until you specifically ask it to check for updated metadata.
Note that trying to work with both bridge/ACR and Lightroom on the same set of data will inevitably make you lose data or edits at some point as you're dealing with a synchronization issue, so be careful.

  • Apple's Camera Compatibility list

I am wondering if anyone knows what this list means. This is how Apple words this:
    Camera compatibility
Aperture supports digital cameras from a wide variety of manufacturers. It offers optimized support for the RAW formats of the numerous digital SLR cameras.
    See our updated list
Once you click on the link you get a list of "the numerous digital SLR cameras". As I noticed that my Fuji Finepix S2 Pro is on the list, I assumed that my camera is fully supported in what is advertised as a Professional program that organizes RAW images. Well... after paying $600CAN, Aperture acknowledges my RAW files as an unsupported format. I don't know why considering Photoshop can see them. When I went back to make sure my camera was on the list, I noticed that only about a dozen have a graphic behind them that says RAW. There is no explanation on the page on what this graphic means. Are they implying that raw is only supported on those select few cameras. If so I've been mislead
I based my purchase on the wording Apple used to describe this list
"It offers optimized support for the RAW formats of the numerous digital SLR cameras.
    See our updated list"
Am I wrong here or does this say that if your camera is on this list, you will get optimized support for RAW

Thanks for you reply sam. I never saw that 2nd list you mentioned. I would have assumed that the list I read on the order page was good enough but I guess I was wrong. I just assumed that a supported camera meant that you can use the most prominent feature of the product "RAW workflow"
I guess my next question is what does supported camera mean?
I think Apple better make this more clear or they are going to be taking in a lot of returns. I just checked the box out and it doesn't mention camera compatibility anywhere. Just that you get a RAW workflow. Last time I checked it wasn't compulsory to check out a website before buying a product. If someone comes in a store off the street and purchases based on the boxes info, people will have every right to return the product.
For me. I guess it was my fault for misinterpreting the list and I will eat the $600 I wasted, however, this has left me with a very sour taste in my mouth.

  • Video camera compatibility for CS5? what sequence setting do I use?

I am new to the extraordinarily complex world of hard drive/hybrid cameras. I have always used tape and firewires with few problems. A student came in today with new camera she just bought a Panasonic SDR –H85. We downloaded a video file, but it would not import into Premiere. I also had no idea which of the dozen new sequence set-ups to use. How do I find out camera compatibility for CS5? (Adobe doesn’t list specific models.) And what sequence setting do I use?

Thanks for your help! For some reason we had a hard time finding these specs. It looks like it is a SD camera, not a High Definition camera (the HD on the side of the camera mistakenly meant Hard Drive, not High Definition?)
At any rate we now need to use the Adobe media encoder to convert the file so that we can import it into Premiere ….all with a loss of quality due to the re-rendering. (btw, what is the best file to re-render?). I suggested that the student who just bought it return it for a camera (preferably High Def) that will work in Premiere. Any suggestions?

Yeah it works fine over wifi the problem is when I try to use it over my 3G. It's really stressing me out now.

  • What is the optimum core configuration for a new Mac Pro to process and manipulate very large (80 megapixel) images using PhotoShop and Camera Raw?

    Hello:
I will be using creative techniques to process and manipulate a large number (hundreds) of very large (80 megapixel) images captured using a medium format digital back (Phase One IQ180).
Final output will be digital fine art imagery printed using an Epson 11880 at large sizes (up to 60 inches x ?), retaining the highest possible quality and resolution. I will be using Adobe CC PhotoShop and Camera RAW as well as Capture One software. PhotoShop filters will be used extensively.
The Mac Pro needs to be optimized for the above purpose and be useful for at least five years. I plan to max out all the other options (RAM, graphics cards, storage). Performance is more important than cost.
The few discussions I have found that mention optimum core configurations seem to lean toward 6 or 8 (but likely are not taking into consideration my need for manipulating a large number of very large files), so I am looking to this foum for opinions.
    Thank you,
    Kent

  • "Edit In" Photoshop CC not working for RAW or DNG files after applying LR 5.3 and Camera Raw 8.3

I just applied the Lightroom 5.3 and Camera Raw 8.3 updates and now am no longer able to open RAW or DNG files into Photoshop CC. When I select a file and choose "Edit In" Photoshop, photoshop will launch, then nothing will happen. After 2 to 5 minutes, an error will popup in Lightroom saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop CC could not be launched." An error I've never seen before. When I click "Ok", Lightroom will show that it's "preparing a file for editing" in the upper left, it will create and save a psd to disk and in the catalog (another new behavior), then it will open in photoshop. All other file types (jpgs, tiff, psd) seem to work/open fine between applications. No difference if I open photoshop prior to selecting "Edit In". Selecting "Edit In" other applications, like Viveza, work fine.
I tried first deleting preference files in both applications. No luck. Ditto for plugins. Notta. Eventually I completely uninstalled and fresh installed Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge from the cloud. Same deal...can't open raw/dng files into Photoshop.
I'm at a complete loss, dead in the water, with a mountain of editing work piling on top of me. Kicking myself for applying the upgrades, which I had been delaying for some time to avoid just such a cluster%#$. Ugh.
    I'm on a PC running Windows 7 64bit.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In the normal situation, LR needs to see a PS installed for it to detect the Edit In PS option is possible, so if you uninstall both, then install PS, first, then LR.  Of course with this release there may be some hiccup that requires installing either one or the other, again, but if you've uninstalled both and are reinstalling both, then install PS, first.

  • I can't open CS5 in windows 7 it tells me "Programm is locked or you are not legitimated". Bridge and Camera draw are working ok

I can't open CS5 in Windows 7. It tells me "application is locked or you don't have legitimation". Bridge and Camera Raw are OK.

    Hi,
         thank you for your answer.
The original Text photoshop showing me is the following:
Konnte ein Arbeitsvolumen nicht öffnen, weil die Datei gesperrt ist
oder Sie keine ausreichende Berechtigung haben. Heben Sie den Schutz
der Datei mit Hilfe des Befehls 'Eigenschaften' im Windows Explorer
    auf.
Sorry I can tell you this only in German.
After Installation the Version 64 Bit couldn't work because of this
sentence (Windows 7 has 64 Bit Version). The 32 Bit Version worked
without problems. The next day both versions didn't work because of
this Informatiom. Bridge and Camera raw workinjg perfect but photoshop
    (CS 5) is blocked.
