IStore Uploading source files to content repository
I follow iStore Quick reference guide and try to add file to content repository. I use a user with iStore Administrator responsibility however from the content page I see the links/tabs to Usage Summary/Media Objects/My content/Library/Pending Approvals/Trash but not Content repository where it is supposed to be possible to add files/images etc to oracle content repository. Any hulp would be appreciated.
The "report abuse" link for the original post in a thread is in the Actions box to the right of the post.
I seem to spend more time reporting posts to be moved than answering questions.

Here i am able to display the HTML uploaded in content repository

SureshSuresh, your html specifies an image at resources/images/privacy.gif - is that
image in your repository at the correct relative position to where yout html is?
Your html and repository structure must match. So if the html you posted is at
/BEA Repository/foo.html
then privacy.gif must be at /BEA Repository/resources/images/privacy.gif

Using ftp to upload a file to Content Database
Hi Experts,
I am looking to upload the file to the Content DB using FTP.
Can any one let me know if there is any API for doing this and also if there any way to upload the attributes(META data) after uploading the file using FTP.
I have a tried already uploading the file using web services API now looking for FTP Upload.
Thanks
AhamedA quick search at google reveals there are plenty of FTP libraries available for the various mainstream programming languages (Java, C, C++ etc).
However, FTP has a very basic command set. (MKDIR, GET, PUT, DEL etc).
So you are not going to be able to perform more advanced document management tasks (such as lock a document, check-in, check-out, modify metadata, modify security, search, sort etc) through standard FTP commands.
In terms of setting metadata through FTP, you could potentially store the various processing instructions required in some type of XML file (or equivalent) and upload this XML file to the repository. A custom event handler could be created that listens for DOCUMENT_CREATED events, and then attempts to process the XML files and perform the various instructions contained within by calling the appropriate in-process Content DB FDK API.
It's ugly, but possible.
cheers

How to fetch mpg file from content repository
Hi All,
I have uploaded a mpg(video) file in content repositoy. But I am not able to fetch
it and display it using embed tag.
is anybody aware of a right method to do the same?
Thanks in advance.I was thinking there might be a difference in how the browser handles a
path with a space when typed into the address bar vs. how the browser
plugin/activex-object handles a path with a space when it gets it from
the <param> or <embed> tag.
Otherwise, I'm not sure what's going on. How content displays on
someone's computer mostly depends on the persons's computer, how it's
configured, what's installed, etc. If you can get the Node's BinaryValue
from the WLP server and it has the correct ContentType and the correct
bytes, then, at that point, WLP is no longer really involved.
Do PDFs, word docs, audio, shockwave, and other binary media types
stored in a WLP content repository display correctly with
<object><embed> tags in your browser?

can
use the com.bea.content.manager.ContentHelper.pathInfoEncode() method
to
URLEncode the node path, e.g.
http://etgjw4:7001<%=request.getContextPath()%>/ShowBinary<%=ContentHelper.pathInfoEncode(node.getPath())%>//image
or, the <cm:getProperty> tag supports this automatically, e.g:
http://etgjw4:7001<%=request.getContextPath()%>/ShowBinary<cm:getProperty
name="cm_path" node=<%=node%> conversionType="url"/>//image
(You might need to double check that code in workshop to make sure it
compiles).

Hi Gregory,
When I type the repository path //property name in the browser's addressbook,

But when I copy the same path and paste it in embed/object tag it justloads up
a windows media player. When I see the error details it says "Cannotopen. Please
verify that the path and filename are correct and try again." Thereis a advanced
button on error window clicking on that it shows "The specified streamtype is
not recognized. (Error=C00D07E2)

can you give me a solution on this?

First, make sure the BinaryValue of the property of the Node has the
correct content-type (should be video/mpeg, or similar). This can be
in
1 of the following ways:
1. Look in the BLOB_CONTENT_TYPE column of the CM_PROPERTY table.
2. Get the Node (e.g. with <cm:getNode>), then get the BinaryValue
(with
<cm:getProperty>), and call the getContentType() method of the BinaryValue.
3. Show the ShowBinaryServlet on the Node in the browser and see what
your browser does. The URL would probably be something like
http://<server>:<port>/<webapp>/ShowBinary/<path to node>, e.g.
http://localhost:7001/sampleportal/ShowBinary/BEA+Repository/mynode.
You
can bring up the properties for that in IE, or Page Info (Ctrl-I) in
Mozilla; that should tell you the content type the browser received.
If it's not something like video/mpeg, then that's why it's not working.
Make sure you browser has support of mpegs in <embed> by creating a
simple html file with an <embed> to an mpeg file (don't use the server
at all). If that works and the content-type of the node is correct,you
should be to create an html file with an <embed> to the URL in #3 above,
e.g.
<embed
src="http://localhost:7001/sampleportal/ShowBinary/BEA+Repository/mynmode">
</embed>
If that works, make sure your jsp is generating the correct HTML.

When to use the new file based content repository
In Service Pack 4 there's a new implementation of the CMSPI interfaces which is configured by using the following implementation class:
com.bea.content.spi.internal.FileSystemRepositoryImpl
When should one use this new file based repository versus the existing one (configured by using the following class: com.bea.content.spi.internal.RepositoryImpl).
I've read the edocs, but it doesn't state when to use this new one compared to the previous implementation.
We consider using a third party content repository, but for the time being we will use the content repository provided by BEA.
Trond Andersen, Invenia AS, +4798290811use the new keyword when you don't have an instance of that object in memory that you want to use. For example...
if you have an object already in memory that is holding a property with a "CamelQuery" object, then you can say
var query = myobject.Query;
however, if you have to write the query, or instantiate the object from nothing, then you need to use the "new" keyword. A good example is SPSite object...
if you can get a new SPSite object by either "newing one up and passing the URL" or getting the farm and getting a site from that object.
using(SPSite site = new SPSite("url to my site"))
now I can use site.
//or
SPSite = myWebApp.Sites[0];
// this gives you site at index 0 of current webApp
most of the time in SharePOint you will be using the "new" keyword to open site collections, and then getting your subsites from there. BE CAREFUL using the "new" keyword. If you "new" up an object that is iDisposable... you
MUST dispose of that, but if you use that same object but it comes from the "current context", you mustn't dispose of it.
//dispose of this by using statement
using(SPSite site = new SPSite(<url>))
//do stuff
//after this bracket it is disposed.
//do not dispose of this:
SPSite mysite = SPContext.Current.Site;
//unpredictable behavior can occur because you will still need references to your current site. -

Binding for "File Content Repository Path" is returning null value
I have created a data control for file based content repository based on an existing file system path. *But when this data contol is invoked the command "#{bindings['getURI_returnURI'].inputValue}" is returning null.*+
Please advice what are possible scenarios. I have performed the following
#1. Create a file system folder in windows XP named "C:\CPContentRepository" and add some html pages into this folder.
#2. Create a "content" project in the application.
#3. Create a "Content Repository Data Control" named "CPFileContentRepository". Repository Type : "File System", Base Path : "C:\CPContentRepository". Test & Registration is successful.
#4. Add a "panel horizontal" into jsf jsp "ContentTest" page & drap-dop data control "CPFileContentRepository--> getURI(String)--> Return--> URI". select return type as "ADF Output Text".
#5. Edit Authorization of the "ContentTest" page definition for "View --> anyone".
#6. Edit Authorization of the "ContentTest" page definition bindings "getURI" for "Invoke --> anyone".
#7. Run the "ContentTest" page. The output for the page is empty.
Regards,
VikkiThere're two major problems in your code. One you have used different names to get your parameters like in your first jsp they're like
<input type="text" name="did" size="20" </p>
<p align="center"> </p>
<p align="center"><b>Name </b>
<input type="text" name="name" size="20"></p>

<input type="text" name="specialist" size="20"></b></p>
<p align="center"> </p>
<p align="center"><b>Address
<input type="text" name="address" size="20"></b></p>
<p align="center"> </p>
<p align="center"><b>Phone no.
<input type="text" name="phno" size="20"></b></p>
<p align="center"> </p>but when you're getting you're doing it like this
String name = request.getParameter("name");
String did = request.getString("did");
String add = request.getParameter("add");
String specilist = request.getParameter("specilist");
String phno = request.getParameter("phno");First get them with same name as you have them in your first jsp. another thing in that you're not used form tag in write way... You have created submit button in some other form
and when you're pressing submit button actully you're submitting only that form value and your form1 is not submitted that's why you're getting null values for
those parameters you're getting with right name -

File does not exist, or file is empty; you cannot upload empty files

Please, what could be the problem?

Uploading Multiple files in One-Click!!!
Hi All,
I have got nearly about 900 PDF files in my file server which need to be uploaded to the KM CONTENT Repository.
what is the best methodology to upload all these file in to the repository in <u><b>one click.</b></u>
Is it possible to achieve this??
Eagerly waiting for replies.
Regards,
KavithaHi Patric,
It is quite interesting to see that there is a way to upload multiple files in a click.
I just followed your way. i copied the WebDAV URL and pasted and executed in a new browser. and i get....
<i>The folder you are looking for has no displayable content.
You can try one of the following:
Access the folder using the Navigation user interface.
Access the folder as a Web folder. Your operating system and browser dictate whether or not this will work.</i> "
When i choose "Web Folder", i get a pop up and it says "<i>The web folder address Internet Explorer was given was too long. Please use a shorter address</i>."
When i choose "Navigation User Interface", iam taken to the default KM Folder.
I nowhere able to see the folder structure like what you have mentioned in your reply.
Kindly help me out.

Storing source files separate from main site files
Hi there,
I'm using Dreamweaver CS6.
Is there a way to set up a site definition to store source files (EG. Photoshop files etc) on a separate ftp server, away from the main site files.
I'm trying to avoid having to setup 2 site definitions if possible to keep things tidy.
So the end result would be something like this:
Site files get uploaded to ftp.mysite.com
and
The contents of folder _source gets uploaded to ftp.mysource.com
Thanks.You could use a 3rd party FTP client like FileZilla to upload source files to a separate location on your server.

Resource bundle in content repository
Hi,
We have a weblogic portal application. Client wants the flexibility to be able to change the text (labels, paragraphs) without any help from IT i.e no releases or redeployment should be required.
For static pages htmls have been moved to content repository and that helps.
However for multilingual jsp labels, headers etc. should we add the resource bundle files(.properties files) to content repository?
Please suggest. We are using netui tags in UI.What are you using to show the message i18n or JSTL? i18n tag libraries have a timed technique of reload. ResourceBundles cant be reloaded (directly). search for a snippet on the web which shows how to reload ResourceBundles.
should we add the resource bundle files(.properties files) to content repository?So long as you have a way to push the files to all managed servers , store it wherever you want.
While this is an idealistic scenario of business can update all content consider what happens when a business user changes the key by mistake, makes a formatting error etc that can potentially break your page. -
SAPDB password in content repository
Hello,
I 'm in the process of configuring the repository with content server.
Two of the parameters with content repository are SAPDBUser and SAPDBPassword.
Before finishing to configure this we have used the report RSCMSPWS to set the technical user password settings used for connection.
After launching this report with definning the DBuser = SAPCS and Password = SAPCS
Two parameters have been aded on the parameters of the repository:
-1- SAPDBUser
-2- SAPDBPassword
with SAPCS as user and another different password as SAPCS defining in MAXDB
Knowing that the 2 passwords must be the same, what must be done to resolve this.
Best Regards.

Uploading XML file in the repository takes lot of space, check whether you have it or else request the concerned person to extend the space or to create another directory with bigger space.
