ISW 6.0 - repeated attempts to authenticate as "guest"

I have a deployment of ISW 6.0. In my isw-broker log.txt file I repeatedly see the following:
[14/Aug/2009:02:11:50 PDT] WARNING [B2130]: Login Failed:
com.sun.messaging.jmq.auth.api.FailedLoginException: [B4068]: DN not found for user guest in repository ldap
[14/Aug/2009:02:11:50 PDT] [B1066]: Closing: [email protected]:0->jms:0 because "java.io.IOException: Stream closed". Count: service=0
broker=6
The corresponding searches for "guest" appear in my Directory Server access log as:

These are occuring about 1 every second. I can't seem to find where "guest" is configured. Any ideas on this?

Are you sure to use a 1.6 Java environment. If not, do it since you may have unwanted side effects like display problems
or keyboard input problems.
So please uninstall and retry if you don't have a 1.6 java JRE.
Then, if you still meet the same error, check your configuration directory. It should be started, so if you don't see any access
(from the installation wizard) in the configuration directory access logs, it probably means that either your config. DS was not
started when the wizard ran, or the wizard doesn't connect to the right host/port. May be the system can not resolve your
config. DS hostname (s0007) for example.
If you see something in the (config. DS) access logs, please post it .
If you're not sure about which is your config. DS, then you can identify it by its suffix (or at least one of them), which must be
o=netscaperoot . So, just grep all your dse.ldif files for each DS instance you may have. One of them, (and only one !) should
have that suffix defined.
I hope this helps.

Can anyone help me? The iTunes update corrupted my program. I uninstalled, and then reinstalled iTunes; only to find an error message about iTunes Helper. After several fruitless, repeat attempts, I am at a loss. Please help…

    Many thanks.
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Music spontaneously starts, stops, stutters at random and I'm not even using that app. Repeated attempts to pause the song and close the app have no affect. Just keeps popping on and off randomly no matter what I'm doing at the time.

How do I eliminate this glitch?  Music spontaneously starts, stops, stutters at random and I'm not even using that app. Repeated attempts to pause the song and close the app have no affect. Just keeps popping on and off randomly no matter what I'm doing at the time. I tried double-clicking the Home button which brings up all of the active apps, touched and held the Music icon until all the icons started wiggling, tapped the Close icon in the upper left corner of the Music app to close the app completely, but the app is still open and still randomly stuttering. I did notice that the play button icon flashes in the upper right corner of the screen when this happens and it appears and disappears in concurrence with the Music app stuttering. When the music starts, the icon appears and when it stops, the icon disappears again. When the music stutters on and off, the icon appears and disappears rapidly and in sync with that random glitch. This just started today for no apparent reason. I turned the iPad off, waited 30 seconds and turned it back on. As soon as it was finished starting up, the same music glitch began again immediately. I'm using iOS 6.1.3.

Well, no one seems to have any answers or ideas for me, I'll update what I've been able to accomplish.
I reloaded all 14 disks in the time frame of watching Lord of the Rings on Fri. nite.
Funny thing is, the first disk pulled the info from the online store! Hooray!
Wait-then all the next 13 could find no information online...what the heck is up with that? So I MANUALLY assign each disk a new track # to co-inside with each disk, spent about 2 hours doing that.
But still, itunes tells me my playlist is too large, there's not enough space on the ipod. so I unchecked 1 1/2 disks (I'd listen to 1/2 of disk 1 previously) and voila! there's my ipod full of my book. Finally. But what a lot of bother just to keep things in order!

I don't know who you talked to, but some of the support techs tend to look at CS5 as "no longer sold or supported" and usually don't want to mess with it.
We are mostly user-volunteers and have time to help you out. Some of us get perks from Adobe, but we are not employees.
I actually gave you the links to the two very important CS5 updates, but you want to peruse this general list Adobe - Photoshop : For Windows

  • I can't copy certain songs from my iTunes library to my iPhone despite repeated attempts

I can't copy certain songs from my iTunes library to my iPhone despite repeated attempts. These are songs I copied way back when from CDs onto my computer.  I can play them on my computer just fine in iTunes too. Status bar says "Updating files" and "Preparing to Copy" but nothing actually copies to my phone. My phone shows the songs greyed out and circles to the left of the song in the Store column and the songs never get copied onto my phone.
My guess is that there is something I am missing or something I am doing wrong.
    Any advice/help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

Have tried to open my existing itunes but it states that it can not be opened due to missing files...please reinstall itunes. Repeated attempts to reinstall are to no avail....any ideas?

I assume you are talking about iTunes on your computer, if so, you will have to remove all Apple programs associated with iTunes:
iTunes,  QuickTime, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour and Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Make sure everything that is by Apple is removed including Safari. You can sort by "Publisher", when you uninstall programs.  Make sure you have at least one other web browser (like Firefox or Internet Explorer) before removing Safari. That way you can go back to the Apple web site and redownload iTunes later.
Reboot the computer then reinstall iTunes.  Everything should work normally.

  • Block Repeat Attempts to Login

Does anyone know of a smart way to block repeat attempts at login to Mac OS X server. I've perused my logs for a simple test server I configured out of my house and I've already got a ton of attempts to login via "admin" user.
Would love to have a script or enable a feature that blocks the IP after 15 attempts.
Also would love to know if there is a comparible setup for my linux servers.
    Thanks in advance.
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

use ssh keys, sshd_config, and a firewall to block connection attempts.
    or there's http://denyhosts.sourceforge.net.
configuring a firewall to do the work for you will give you better flexibility than using denyhosts.

  • Stuck on 'attempting to authenticate' connection i...

I'm not quite sure what I've done, but would appreciate any support! I was trying to change my wireless key password to something more memorable, and thought I had done so successfully. I used my laptop to do this, I'm on windows 8. However what appears to have happened is that my laptop will not now connect to my Home Hub 5 and is stuck on 'attempting to authenticate'. All our other devices, iPads, iPhones etc have remained connected with no problem at all. I cannot find a way to move past this point on my laptop and would appreciate any support people could offer to resolve this issue! Thanks!!

Delete any existing connections on your laptop for the home hub, then rescan again, and connect with the new password, as Windows 8 is storing the old password in its settings, and trying to use that.

  • Attempting to authenticate to domain

We've been working on integrating the Macs into our Active Directory at a largely PC company, and one of our admins complained recently that the Macs attempt repeatedly to authenticate to the domain and fail, even though a user may be logged in and working just fine. He says this doesn't happen with the PCs running Windows and would like to make it stop.
I haven't the slightest idea what would be causing it but we've searched through the settings in Directory Access and cannot find anywhere to change this. Any pointers would be appreciated.
On a side note, I've noticed that LDAPv3 is on by default. Is that potentially the culprit here?

Is this page of any help? Or maybe this one?

  • During the TBird installation I am asked to enter user/email/password but after repeated attempts only get error saying info incorrect.

After going through the Thunderbird setup on a Windows 8.1 computer, and after selecting IMAP instead of POP, I get to the point where it asks me to input name, email and password. However, when I do so, it invariably comes back and says my name and/or password are incorrect. Eventually, as I can go no farther in the setup process, I have to cancel out of setup. When I check for installed Thunderbird, Windows does not list it along with other programs in the add/delete window, I find no mention of Thunderbird, so I can't uninstall it. As I am attempting to use TBird with my gmail account, of course, the first time I tried this I got a snarky email from Google telling me that I was attempting to use an email client with lesser security, and giving me a link to go to if I wanted to continue with this less-secure strategy. I successfully set gmail to allow the installation of an email client, and again tried to install TBird, with the same result. I got another Google email acknowledging that I had reset my Google account to accept so-called less secure programs. Again, though, I got stymied at the same point and was again advised that the user name/email/password was in error.

I attempted to set up a Gmail account for my sister using Thunderbird to access her gmail account. I got the same result as the above message and could not get any further in the process than to be repeatedly told that the password or user name was incorrect, (which I knew they were not since that account has just recently been created). If I go directly to gmail, it will log on and allow her to view her messages easily, but attempting to use TBird it gives the same result every time. I take it that there is something going on with the authentication process in gmail, but it isn't clear to me what it means or how to deal with it in Tbird, so some clarification and elucidation would be really appreciated, she wants to use TBird since that is what she is used to and understands, and I would like to be able to insure that she can. My wife has a gmail account that is accessed through TBird and there is no problem with it and logging on to view the account, but my sisters new account is unaccessible with TBird.

  • What is source and fix? Avast blocks repeated attempts to connect to malicious websites. Infection Process Pathway: C: Program Files\Common Files\ComObjects\(Firefox) update.exe

    Hello,
    I am running XP pro-32 bit, with a Dell GX270 3Ghz processor.
I keep getting repeated clusters of Avast pop-ups (whether or not Firefox or any browser is open), that tell me that Avast has blocked me from going to a malicious website. Here is a typical Avast Infection notification:
    URL: http://www.zoosexshow.com/?x
    Process: file://C:\Program Files\Common Files\ComObjects\(Firefox) update.exe
    Infection: html:Iframe-inf
After a solid week of work doing scans and running fixes, deleting and re-installing programs - we have neither identified nor fixed this problem. Since the process path identifies (or implicates) the Firefox update.exe file as the source of the problem, do you Firefox folks have any familiarity with the source or fix for this problem?
Avast, Malwarebytes and Spybot scans find nothing. To see an array of specific specialized and sophisticated scan reports, and attempted fixes that have all failed to identify or fix this problem, below is a direct link to my (3 pg) thread on the bleepingcomputer.com forum (where my username is Daveinsk):
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic440353.html
I am hoping that you may be familiar with this problem, and/or its fix. Please help if you can.

    Hi schützenkönig:
Many thanks for posting!  As you can see, I made my initial post over a week ago, and since there were no responses, I thought perhaps I was the only one this was happening to!
In any event, disabling Protected Mode is the only way I've found to prevent the crashes from happening.
I posted about this on the mozillazine forum -- http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2551745&sid=7e877237158ffdc560789fb668c 858c0 -- but didn't get very far.  Apparently, Firefox is blaming Adobe and has no plans to do anything about it.  I was given some reassurance, however, by the comment that adblock plus offers protection from harmful flash content.
By the way, I made a follow on post when I downloaded the latest version of Flash Player -- 11.4.402.278  -- http://forums.adobe.com/message/4708561#4708561
Unfortunately, it did nothing to fix the problem.

  • Centro Repeated Attempts to Hot Sync then Died

I was running errands and heard a beep on the Centro. It told me that I could not connect for a Hot Sync (which I had not attempted) I said OK and the phone continued over and over to try to Hot Sync.  I took out the battery twice to see if that would fix things. After the first battery out/in, the phone went back to repeated Hot Sync attempts. After the 2nd battery out/in, the phone died. HELP!
    Post relates to: Centro (Verizon)

Hello VAViola and welcome to the Palm forums.
Your Centro is stuck in a HotSync loop.  To get out of the loop, do the following:
    1. Connect your HotSync cable to the Centro and allow it to sync to your Mac or PC to ensure that all of your data is synced to the compuer.
    2. Hard reset the Centro.  This will break the loop and erase everything on the Centro and return it to it's factory default settings.
    3. HotSync the Centro with your computer to reload your data and applications.
    Hope that helps,
    Alan G

  • Mac Pro requires repeated attempts to boot up correctly

I have a late 2007 quad core Mac Pro (2.66GHz) which is about 14 months old. Over the last month I have started having problems booting up.
Initially pixelated patterns started appearing over the desktop and the dock and pretty soon the screen would just start flashing. Now it generally takes 4/5 attempts to boot up correctly with the first 2 attempts not doing anything after the startup chime.
I have tried booting up without external hard drives plugged in, I have reset the PRAM, tried booting in safe mode and I have done an archive and reinstall all with no joy
According to the Apple hardware test everything is fin. Disk utility says there are no problems with the hard drives. The only issue are permissions... I have repaired permissions but immediately after doing so there are more issues with permissions. I have heard mention of problems with a software update for the NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT card I am using but when I had the same problem when I loaded the older version of the OS during the archive and reinstall.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Incidentally once the computer is up and running it works fine.

First, don't rely on Apple Disk First Aid to tell you if everything is fine or not, or to repair problems.
Make sure you have two bootable systems, 3 would be preferable.
Invest in SuperDuper, some backup drives, and then Disk Warrior or something. Then run those and do more as far as preventative maintenance.
There was a firmware update a long time ago for the 7300GT. Software updates are not going to cause problems. The card may need to be replaced and hardware failure, but take that up with your AppleCare.
If your external drives are bootable, pull your normal boot drive and try with those.
NEVER repair permissions except with the latest version of OS X you run (10.5.6).
