ISW synch to AD

Hi,
I have managed to install the AD CA certificate into the AD connector, and can use it to connect to AD via ldapsearch (-Z -P etc).
However, whenever I try to synchronize users (idsync resynch -o Sun -c etc) I get the following error:
[20/Jul/2004:13:44:36.979 +0800] INFO 54 CNN101 argyle.xxxxxxx.com.au "failed to open connection to ldaps://adtest.xxxxxxx.com.au:636, error(91): Cannot connect to the LDAP server, reason: SSL_ForceHandshake failed: (-8179) Peer's Certificate issuer is not recognized.."
Is there anyone that can shed some light onto this issue?
Thanks,
Neil

Hi,
I have seen a similar problem when the AD Certificate Services were setup or changed after the ISW configuration was saved for the first time. I assume that the AD certificate also is stored somewhere in the configuration registry (cn=active_CNN101,ou=SSLCertificateLists,ou=GlobalConfig,ou=1.0,ou=IdentitySynchronization,ou=Services,<suffix of configuration registry>) .
Find the attribute "pswCertificate" and base64-decode the value, this brings you the certificate in binary form. Compare it with the one you imported in the Connector, they should match.

  • Synch issue -- using ISW

    Hello everyone;
I installed ISW on Win 2003 server. I have installed two connectors, one for AD and one for DS 6.x. When I ran the idsync, the users from AD did get populated on to the DS. However, I have a sync issue with DS.
    1. If I create the user in AD, it doesn't automatcially sync in DS. I would expect it to be in DS right away. May be some delay, but it should be there.
Anyone knows of a solution please let me know. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Irfan

Did you check everything is ok with the command "idsync printstat"? Both connectors should be in status SYNCING. If not maybe you need not execute the command "idsync startsync".

  • Identity Synch for Windows with Trusts...

    Scenario:
Windows 2003 AD--Two separate forests with child domains.
    domain1.company1.com trusts domain2.company2.com (External One-Way Trust).
Users from domain2 are going to be used in domain1. These users are "pulled" as foreign security principals. Identity synch is pointed at domain1, will the foreign security principals also synch?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Please, try to shutdown all the Identity Sync service on the target host by executing
    /etc/init.d/isw stop
Wait for a few moments and the restart the service with
    /etc/init.d/isw start
And try the resync operation again.

I reloaded iTunes 10 (64 bit) successfully, but the problem remains the same.
    Any suggestions?

I looked in the folder from which I want to synch photos, but there is no such thing as an "ipod photo cache" in that folder, or sub-folders, as suggested in the link which you were nice enough to provide.
I have also tried removing photos from my iPad2 Photos App, and "iTunes has stopped working" shows up  again as soon as I click on the "Synch photos from" button.

  • Please help - multiple IOS devices, Apple ID's and synching

I have an iPhone and an iPad Mini that belong to me.  Two of my kids have iPod Touch and soon a third will have one.  So there are multiple iOS devices in the family, two of which are used only by me.  Up to this point I've been managing them on one laptop running one iTunes library.  I've made various playlists for the kids music, and I gave them each the specific games they wanted, and I put the games I wanted on my devices....certain games for the iPhone and larger, more involved games for the iPad Mini.  I don't put music on the iPad because I only use music on my iPhone.  So all 4 devices have a different selection of games, apps, and music on them.  I've purchased everything with one apple ID....mine, and set each device up with it. Only I know the password so if one of the kids wants something, they still have to bring their device to me so I can put the password in for that purchase.
What I'd like to do is separate my kids apple ID's from mine.  This way, they can use their apple ID's to sign up for other services, have their own saved game data in the cloud, etc.  I'm running into situations where my son and I play the same game, but we keep overwriting each other's game progress because it's stored to my apple ID.  But I still want to be able to control their purchasing, so I figured I'd have to attach my credit card to their new ID's as well, but just not give them the password, so they still will have to come to me to punch in the password to download something.  But hopefully with this new setup, they'll have their own saved game progress that won't interfere with mine, even if we play some of the same games.
But how will this work if we synch them off my laptop?  I don't want to get into creating separate libraries or anything like that, and I'd still like to be able to download some apps using iTunes and put them on the devices manually if I need to.
What is your recommendation on how to handle this???  How will it work exactly?

You can do anything you want with one iTunes, but:
    Devices names must be different.
Don't sync anything under "Info" tab like Contacts Calendars etc. These info must be synced over iCloud. (Use a different Apple ID for each device)
Use the Same Apple ID for iTunes and App Stores settings in all iOS devices.

  • My family uses a single lap-top as our main internet connection and when we synch our respective I-pods, our I-tunes account seems to wipe-out our playlists, even though we have tried to create separate I-tune accounts.  Help!!

My family uses a single lap-top as our home computer and several of us have i-pods that we like to synch, using I-tunes.  Although we've tried to create separate I-tune accounts, our i-tunes playlists are getting wiped out when one of us deletes songs on our I-pod and it seems as though I-tunes is not distinguishing our distinct accounts and all i-pods are being synched to reflect the latest i-pod anyone makes on their respective account.  It appears as though our distinct I-tune accounts are not being loaded on our lap-top when we sign in and unfortunately, when we're in I-tunes, there is nothing to indicate what account is on the screen.  For all the glowing appraisals apple-related products usually receive, we are finding i-tunes and its interface with our respective i-pods to be a very, very frustrating experience.
Can anyone shed some light on this for a family of non-techies?  Thx

You need to create separate Windows user accounts if you want to seperate the behaviour of iTunes for each user. That also means separate iTunes libraries for each user.
Windows is a multi-user operating system but you are not using it properly. iTunes is not a multi-user application. No application is. You can't expect it to treat different users differently when they are all using the same computer user account.
Do you understand what I mean?

  • Synching To Do in iCAL with my iPod touch

I enter To Do items in iCAL. They seem to appear automatically in a folder called To Do under Reminders in Mail.
However, I have not found a way to get the To Do items to appear on my iPod.
If this cannot be done by simply synching either iCal or Mail with my iPod, is there any app which can be recommended that will allow me to enter To Do items on the mac and have them appear on the iPod?

If ou turned on Settings > iCloud > Find My before it was lost, login to our iCloud account, click Find My Phone and see if it shows up.
To show Find My must have been turned on, it must be powered p, and it must be connected to the Internet.  Without all of those you will not be able to find it.

  • Unable to synch my PC and iPad2 using iTunes 10.6.1

I downloaded iTunes 10.6, enabled HomeSharing, turned off-and-on my iPad2 after closing all Apps, and despite my iPad2 enabled for WiFi synch, the device did not show up in iTunes
(ii) So, I connected via USB to the PC, and synch went fine until step 4 of 4 - and in this final step, iTunes just stopped synch and went back to its normal self like nothing happened
(iii) I then wiped my iPad2 clean, restored from scratch via  iCloud and re-did all of the above - still no luck
Thinking that Apple SW is perfect (like everything else Apple-related), and disappointed that perhaps there was something wrong with my Settings or a bug introduced when I upgraded to iOS5.1, I gave up...until I saw the headlines yesterday that iTunes 10.6.1 was available, with amongst other things, a specific bug fix for issues having to do with  photo synch to iPad.
    Eager to try this...
(iv) I then uninstalled iTunes 10.6, dowloaded & installed iTunes 10.6.1, & enabled Home Sharing
    (v) Progress .....my device showed up as soon as I was connected to the power source as it should have (but didnt with iTunes 10.6) since I have WiFi synch enabled
(vi) I then proceeded with (i) to (iii) above...same issue, all is well until step 4 of 4, while downloading the photos to my iPad2, it suddenly quits and goes back to minding its own business.
    PLEASE HELP !!!

    Me neither... :-(

Definitely there is something wrong on iTunes 10.6.x series.

  • Iphone is no longer detected on itunes/computer it is synched with.

One of my Iphones is no longer detected by the itunes/computer that it is synched with.  The computer/itunes does detect other devices.  The iphone in question is able to be detected on another computer/itunes.
I updated software oof iphone on another computer.  I updated itunes on the computer that does not detect the phone.  I rebooted both.  I tried software conflict.
Does anyone have an idea how to resolve?  I have all of my contacts, apps, photos, music etc on that computer.
When I updated phone software on another computer to see if that was the problem it wiped out all music, apps, photos etc on the phone.  I have thee devices with one apple id and they are synched to different computers.

You should try another USB cable, charging and sending data through the cable is not completely the same, sending data is using other contacts inside the plug or docking connector.

  • Ipod Classic No Longer Synchs after Itunes Moved to New Computer

I successfully restored my itunes from old computer to external hard drive to new computer.  Then I tried to sync iPod Classic 80 GB, but was told I couldn't synch it to new computer.  So I restored Ipod to factory settings and tried synching again.  It put on just a handful of songs I never heard of.  Meanwhile my 10,000 or so songs iin iTunes on my computer did not make it to my iPod.  How to get the itunes over to my now freshly restored iPod?

Please be patient, sync issues are time consuming, if you are lucky, just a Hard Rest and Restore will solved it.
    Ok Software Version 1.1.2.
So you can see all your 10,000 songs, in the new PC iTunes, and do you have any problem syncing the iPod using iTunes 10.5.3.3 on the old computer?
Can you do a Hard Reset  as below
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.
Here is the Apple support Article on the 5Rs
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
On your iTunes please reset alert warnings, so that we can see the errors.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2527?viewlocale=en_US
We need to see what problems iTunes is having
Then connect your iPod to the new PC and sync again.
    Have a nice day!
