ISync 1.2

Our IT department recently replaced my mac. I'm running Panther 10.3.9. When we tried to install the iSync Palm Conduit, I got the following message:
iSync_Palm cannot be installed on this computer.
This version of iSync Palm Conduit requires iSync 1.2 to be installed first.
However, I've looked all over the Apple Web site and can't find iSync 1.2 anywhere -- only the conduit. Is this something that's on the installer disk that IT missed when installing Panther?
I had iSync on my old mac (another G5) and it worked beautifully.
Thanks for your help!

Before you can install the iSync Palm Conduit version 1.2, you must have already installed a version of iSync ranging from release 1.2 though 1.5 - the initial error you saw was reported by the iSync Palm Conduit installer because a required version of iSync was not installed.
I cannot understand how the attempt to install iSync 1.5 itself could produce what you described as "…the same error."
You to download and install iSync 1.5 from this location:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/isync.html
Once you have done that, you then need to download and install the iSync Palm Conduit 1.2 from this location:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/isyncpalmconduit.html
You then add your device to iSync not by using iSync as you would non-Palm devices such as mobile handsets, but rather by using the HotSync Manager or the HotSync menu of the Palm Desktop to configure the settings of the iSync Palm Conduit. Disregarding for the moment the possibility that your Palm handheld may be a Japanese Palm OS device, your only option is to enable synchronization and add your device to iSync by checking the option labeled Enable iSync for this Palm device.
Once you've done that, quit either the HotSync Manager or the Palm Desktop and launch iSync. Your device should appear in the main window, at which point you can drop down a configuration pane by pressing the Palm device icon.

  • Motorola V3r and iSync sends phone contacts to wrong folder

I want to sync my phone to a Group called Cell Phone in my Address Book via iSync. iSync has recognized my phone without a problem but I'm not having any luck directing the phone numbers from my phone to the Cell Phone Group. The phone numbers are going from my phone to the All Group. But it is pulling numbers from the Cell Phone Group and putting them in my phone. ??? In iSync I have the Contacts box checked and I used the drop down menu to specify my Cell Phone group.
Any ideas? Why is it pulling numbers from one group and importing them to another?

Apple have not provided this functionality for some reason.
You will see that there is a "Put events created on the phone into:" but not a "Put Contacts created on the phone into:" pop-up.
I don't know why Apple have not provided this option.
    There is no workaround.

  • When I sync my iPod to my MacBook through iTunes new events do not show up and old events are not deleted. I am using Snow Leopard  and not iSync.

I am using Snow Leopard on a MacBook. I have an iPod touch 3G. I do not use iSync it Mobile Me. When I sync my iPod through iTunes new events on my iPod do not show up on my Mac and old events do not delete. I have read help instructions that include deleting the data on the iPod. The iPod has the correct data and the Mac does not so I have not followed those instructions. I need help as the only reason I bought the Mac was to be able to sync, back up, view and print my calendar. Currently it is useless. If only Apple could have learned from the elegance of the Palm software.

  • Who can solve iSync problem with Nokia N95? (I use the Nokia plug already)

    Hello
Since I bought my new cool Mac:, I sync my N95 with iSync and the Nokia N95 plug-in. Thinking at first that is works flawlessly (as other members here seem to think as well) I later found out, that if I make changes to any calendar or "to do" description! on either the N95 or the Mac it syncs, but only up until a certain number of characters. If I exceed this number, the description on the phone will simply be cut off - in the iCal it still fully appears though.
Rather surprising, since when syncing with a PC via the Nokia PC suite there is no such an issue. All my often lengthy descriptions are fully put on the phone. And if I sync back there are no problems either. So I guess it has to do with the iSync protocol or this Nokia N95 iSync plug-in? Any ideas, solutions...? Any help greatly appreciated!

The flex cable is damaged. Some years back when I had a Nokia N95 8GB the flex cable was damaged and for a few days the screen was showing strange colours at the display and eventually the screen became black. I went to a local repair shop and I replaced the flex cable and what I noticed was that the flex cable that it had no proximity sensor on it so I told the technician to remove the proximity sensor on the original one and replace it with the new flex cable. Another thing I discovered was that after fitting the flex cable and returning the cover the front camera was not in its usual position so the technician had to do some modifications to get it back to its normal position and after a few months it was damaged and this time I went to Nokia Care Centre and replaced the flex cable for a small fee and what I noticed was that the flex cable that I previously bought was a fake cable. The one bought from Nokia Care Centre had its proximity sensor and when the cover was returned the camera was in its exact position the same as it was with the original flex cable. What I wanted to say is that please beware of fake flex cables on the market and I suggest that you buy it from an authorised Nokia Dealer.

FYI, i have try to remove my current isync then install new one but still does not work.

Make sure the iSync application is in your main Applications folder, not in any sub-folder. You should never move Apple apps from their default locations.

  • ISync not syncing all contacts to Moto Razr V3i

    Hi,
I have a Motorola Razr V3i that I'd like to sync with my Mac address book. I'm running Leopard 10.5.1. I keep the Address Book as the reference for all my contacts. When I connect my Razr to the Mac, I want to replace all the contacts on the phone with the entries in the Address Book. I have set options in iSync to sync all contacts with phone numbers. I am facing two problems with this:
    1) During the sync, the application tries to replace data on my Mac with data from the phone. Is there an option that I can set by which the information on the Mac is never overwritten by the information from the phone? I want information to go one way all time - from my Mac to the phone.
    2) After the sync, I discovered that not all the contacts had been imported. A few random contacts are not transferred from the Mac to the phone. I thought that this might have something to do with the fact that the phone used to be synced to my earlier install of Tiger. So I did a "master clear" and a "master reset" on the phone. But even after doing that, some of the contacts (different ones this time) were not synced. And due to the problem described in #1, iSync tried to replace all my existing contacts on the Mac with blank information on the phone.
What's the point of iSync if I have to check whether all contacts have been imported, and manually enter the ones left out. I checked for a software update on the phone, but there was none available.
I'd be happy to provide additional information to get this problem fixed.
    Thanks,
    Saurabh

I am having the same problem with Leopard 10.5.1 Isync and my razor V3 from Cingular. In addition the contacts in my address book are duplicated after syncing with my phone. Basically after using Isync my address book gets doubled and cluttered with names and no phone numbers, the data gets completly screwed up. Whats going on?

  • ISync synced iCal calendars to phone but erased from computer.  Help!

I performed a sync today to my Motorola E815 cell phone. All of the contacts synced fine but the calendars didn't. All of the calendars from iCal were copied over fine, but the no longer appear in iCal.
Will syncing again copy the calendars back from the phone to the computer or will they erase off of the phone and no copy over. I am scared of losing them altogether. I could reenter them manually but that would take forever. Is there anyway to get my calendars back?
I had performed a backup of iCal a few weeks ago but don't know how to revert to that, plus I have made several changes since then.
    What can I do?

If you created the backup using the the option labeled Back up Database… under the File menu in iCal, then restoring that data is as easy as choosing the option labeled Revert to Database Backup… directly beneath it. If you used another means, restoration might be a little more complex. It depends entirely upon what you originally chose to to, as a restoration is effectively a reversal of this process.
In any event, to restore the information on your mobile handset to iCal, you should reset the synchronization framework by…
    • launching iSync
    • opening the Preferences… dialog
    • pressing the Reset Sync History… button and following the instructions which appear
You can achieve the same effect by removing your device from iSync and then adding it back. The key is to select the option to Merge the data in iCal with your mobile handset, rather than to Replace the data on your mobile handset with the data stored in iCal, which is presently empty.
If you do first successfully restore iCal and elect to merge your data, it will recognize equivalent records and merge them, and will add the records which differ on either device to the other.
The key to a successful outcome is to proceed slowly and deliberately, follow any instructions which occur, and ponder the likely outcome as you move forward. Generally speaking, you can stop at any point and back out of the process without affecting your data, though once you have reset or removed and then added back your device, the framework will eventually have to accommodate this change, and will perform a full, slow synchronization the next time you try to synchronize. Again, at that point if you cancelled earlier, you will have to elect to merge rather than replace data.

  • Isync Tiger BUG: Contacts created in phone don't sync into Addressbk Group

This is a bug I've encountered with iSync running on Tiger.
I use iSync to sync my AddressBook contacts with my Motorola Razor.
I have many contacts, but I only need a few of them synced with my phone, so I created a Group called "Phone" in AddressBook.app, and have set my sync preferences in iSync to sync only those contacts in the contacts group "Phone".
When I create a new contact in the phone, and then sync with iSync, the new contact does NOT appear in my designated Group "Phone", but instead in the "All" contacts category. This didn't happen in Leopard.
What this means is that if I ever need to restore my contacts on my phone, none of the contacts that I created on the phone will be synced b/c they are NOT in the "phone" group, but in the All contacts category.
If my iSync preferences are set to sync with a particular AddressBook Group, then NEW CONTACTS created in the PHONE should update to that designated GROUP, and not be considered non-categorized in the AddressBook.app.

You must be mistaken (or very lucky!). This issue was definately around in Tiger too.
Do a search on these forums for the same issue, and you'll see it comes up time and time again going back many years, relating to all versions of Mac OS X and iSync.

You can even see in iSync's window that there's an option to "Put events created on phone into:" pop-up, but no equivalent option for Contacts.

  • ISync erased my phone contacts, then it erased numbers in Address Book

Okay, long complicated story, hopefully made short:
    - after syncing my Motorola Razr phone via bluetooth with iSync, I noticed all my contacts were gone.
    - I tried syncing again, and there was no change
    - I tried removing all the files from ~library/Application Support/iSync and then tried syncing again.
    - Now, all the numbers that were previously stored in my phone, are now erased from address book, as well as erasing all events I had in iCal
    - I did a Time Machine backup last week, so I have a backup of the system when address book and ical were normal
    - I want to restore the numbers I lost both in address book, the events I had in iCal, and also get syncing back to normal.
Any ideas on how to do this would be gratefully appreciated. This is a rat's nest that I don't know how to untangle.

I have  exactly the same problem.
I am using iOS 7 and Zimbra 8 using Active Sync protocol.

  • ISync syncs to wrong Address Book group

When I sync my phone (Nokia 3230) with my MacBook, I designate the Address Book group titled "Contacts in 3230" to be synced. But contacts that I've added to the phone (my usual way of adding new contacts) are transferred to my "All" contacts in Address Book, but NOT to the designated group. To correct this, I have to manually try to remember what contacts were added to the phone, and then copy them from "All" into the "Contacts in 3230" group.
How can I make iSync sync to the designated group?
    Many thanks for your advice.

I have the same problem with a Nokia 6230. Really annoying as i sync has now cluttered up my mac address book with phone contacts that i wanted in a specific group called 'nokia back up' Also I tried putting a test item in this folder and this did not download onto the phone. I don't want my phone filled with all of my contacts and i don't want my mac filled with all the temporary contacts that end up in a phone on a Friday night. All i want is to back up my phone to my mac in case i loose it. should be simple enough!

  • Motorola SLVR L7 and iSync - or sync to an internet server...

Just bought it yesterday, surprised that it is not supported by iSync. I've got the latest OS X version, iSync version. Worked great with my RAZR, what is the timing for SLVR? How long do I have to keep the phone in the box before it is useful to me?
Alternatively, the phone does have sync capabilities to an internet server. If I have my contacts and calendar synced here at .mac, is there a way to access that server? Settings asked for in the phone are:
    Name:
    URL:
    User Name:
    Password:
    Data paths -
    Address Book:
    Datebook:
I obviously know my user name and password; what are the other things to fill in for my .mac account?

Did a software update, which included a 100MB update to OS X. Re-paired my SLVR with my laptop, and in doing so, it enabled iSync. So now it works. Go figure.
Still would like an answer about syncing over the internet, though, if possible.

  • Isync 2.3 and Motorola V3r

Just buy a new Razr V3r (actual V3 also known as V3_O5) with firmware R4515G08.BD.43R.
Isync see it as V3 and accept to sync it but create 1 contact per phone number (1 contact with 2 phone number on the mac = 2 contact on the V3), doesn't sync all numbers and never sync adress and the worse is than it swap me all last name and first name.
I know their is the same problem with V3i.
    Is anyone got a solution?
ps: sorry for my poor english, it's not my native tong.

A possible answer to the issue of the phone not getting all of the phone numbers is that the Razr will not synchronize numbers that have tags different than its phone book can identify. If you create a new contact on the Razr, you'll see the categories that it will identify for a new phone number. I you use the "other" tag in Address Book, or have any number tagged with a name other than what the Razr uses, the numbers will not be synchronized. I discovered this after I had a phone replaced, and had to go back in to the contacts in Address Book and re-tag the numbers that were missing on the Razr.
After doing so, all contacts synch'd the missing numbers. Unfortunately, as you pointed out, the Razr does not support addresses, and will only alphabetize by first name.
    Happy synchronizing,
    Gary

  • Motorola W755 and iSync under 10.6.2

Although I was able to sync my Motorola W755 cellphone with my Macbook under 10.5xxx and even the early versions of 10.6 (using a third-party plugin), it seems that 10.6.2 has broken that. I can sync contacts by not calendar events (iCal.) Has anybody written a workaround for this? It's pretty important to have my calendar in my phone. The plug-in is where it should be. I've even tried reinstalling it. I also tried using Time Machine to restore it. Alas, I can no longer sync the calendar. (Weird that I can sync contacts but not the calendar.) Looking forward to finding someone who can help. Thank you.

I must politely take issue with your assertion that nothing in 10.6.2 would break a plug-in for a Motorola phone, because something certainly changed when I upgraded from 10.6.1
You're assuming something changed from Apple's end. What about the data you're trying to sync. That could've changed.
iSync itself has not changed at all since Mac OS X 10.6 came out. There were no changes to iSync in 10.6.1 or in 10.6.2. It's exactly the same version and build number.
I've repaired permissions to no effect. Is there something else I could try?
Have you tried resetting the sync history in iSync's preferences? Or resetting sync services by alt-clicking the Sync menu bar item?
Often unexplained syncing issues are the result of corruption occurring in one or more contacts or calendars.
If you have multiple calendars set to sync in iSync, try only syncing one at a time until you find the one that causes it to fail.
Then export this calendar from iCal, delete it then re-import it. This export/import process often fixes corruption in events.
What does the iSync log (Window menu in iSync) report when it tries to sync the calendar?

  • Motorola KRZR and isync problems

I just got my motorola KRZR, paired it with my computer and everything, then when i try to sync my contacts on isync it says "this device is not supported by isync. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something with the phone Im notdoing right? help!

I have the Silver KRZR from Rogers here in Canada and I managed to hack the MetaClasses file so it works! I will post a link to my file below, and also tell you how I made the change.
    My file is here: MetaClasses.plist
Do this to make it work:
    1. Quit iSync
    2. Go to: /Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/ PlugIns/Motorola-K1.phoneplugin/Contents/Resources
    3. Replace the MetaClasses.plist with the one I linked to above
    4. Restart iSync - it should work with the phone now.
Again, I have the silver KRZR, so this might not work for you specifically if you have a different one. If it doesn't, here is how you can hack on the MetaClasses.plist file.
    1. Connect your phone to your computer with Bluetooth or USB (I used Bluetooth)
    2. Open up iSync
    3. Try to add a device, and scan for devices. It should come back with your phone and a message saying it is not supported.
    4. Quit iSync
    5. Open up /Applications/Utilities/Console
    6. View the console.log, scroll to the bottom
    7. You're looking for some text like this:
    {quote:title=console.log :}Bluetooth Device Info Summary:
    svc/maj/min class: 721 / 2 / 1
    manufacturer: AT+CGMI
    +CGMI: "Motorola CE, Copyright 2000"
    OK
    model number: AT+CGMM
    +CGMM: "GSM900","GSM1800","GSM1900","GSM850","MODEL=K1/s"
    OK
    {quote}
You're looking for the two strings there ("Motorola CE, Copyright 2000", "GSM900","GSM1800","GSM1900","GSM850","MODEL=K1/s") Note the model number at the end of the second string. This is your phone's Model Number and is how iSync will identify it.
    8. Go to: /Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/ PlugIns/Motorola-K1.phoneplugin/Contents/Resources and make a backup of the MetaClasses.plist file
    9. Open the MetaClasses.plist file in a text editor
    10. Copy everything from <key>com.motorola.K1</key> (line 5) to </dict> (line 34) and paste it immediately below (you can look at my file for an example here). What we're doing is making another type of KRZR K1 subtype. We will be editing this text we just pasted in the steps that follow:
    11. Change the <key> line 35 to have your phone Model number instead of K1. My model number is K1/S, so my key line reads: <key>com.motorola.K1/S</key>
    12. Change the <string> line 40 to have your gmi+gmm values, which we found in the console log above in step 7. They are probably exactly the same except for the MODEL part at the end.
    13. Change the model number in the <string> line 60 to be your model number which we found above. Mine is K1/S, so my line 60 reads: <string>K1/s</string>
    14. Save the file and restart iSync
15 Your phone should show up as supported now.
I hope this helps. I have not tried to sync calendars, but Address Book seems to work fine.

  • ISync not xfering Contacts to Motorola 815

I have previously iSync'd contacts from my Mac to my Motorola 815 successfully. Recently, I had to perform a phone reset, clearing all phone data, and figured I'd just iSync my contacts to restore them but it's not working. The phone pairs, and seems to go thru the sync'ng process but no contacts are ever transferred. I've tried deleting and re-adding the phone, resetting the device, clearing the sync history, all to no avail.
Any ideas? This one is perplexing because it's worked before, and it seems to pair successfully.
    Thanks!

According to a post of this thread  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3374208 it should be possible to go back from iCloud to MM and restart the Sync.
    Try.

  • ISync and Motorola Razr2 V9 problem

    Hi all,
I know there was a similar thread, but it's been archived so I can't post there. I just got a Motorola Razr2 V9x and tried to sync it with my Mac. I know I need a plugin for this. I have the plugin and iSync recognizes the phone. Whenever I try to sync I get an error message:
    Connection to the phone failed.
Please make sure that your phone is turned on. If this error occurs again, please restart your phone.
The phone is on of course and restarting it doesn't help. When I try syncing iSync starts the process and the Bluetooth indicator light on the phone blinks briefly, then I get the error message. Any ideas what's wrong?

I just replaced my v400 after several years, a long service life for a cell phone.
Anyway, I never had a problem with iSync, except that at first I didn't "point" it to the Address Book directory I wanted to sync with. Are you sure the new entries are in the directory (or group) that you're syncing with? Click on the v400 icon in the iSync window and double check the Contacts drop down box.
