ISync 2.3 & Nokia N70

Hi I own since a month a Nokia N70, I thought isync 2.3 was working smoothly as with my 6680, but no!! It just appear to me that when I add some details ON THE PHONE to an existing contact (for example a new phone number) it is not at all synchronised !!! when I do it the other way : modify a contact on the Mac it is synchronised on my N70. I also noticed that the isyng agent it is not installed anymore on the phone.
Anybody-else with this problem ? Any help ?
Thank you

  • Isync update for Nokia N70 etc

Does anybody know when there will be another update of Isync to include the Nokia N70?
I've tried amending the list that isync uses with the various fixes but nothing works. Bluetooth on the laptop recognises the phone. I can transfer data etc. However when I try to use Isync, it just scans and finds no device to add. In the bluetooth setup I've checked the box to work with Isync but no luck...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi there!
I've had my mobile for a while now and would really like to update it now. But i want to make sure that it's fully iSync compatible.
It seems that no one on here knows when the next version will be released.
Does anyone know if there's a way to actually turn this question to someone at Apple directly?
    Thanks,

  • ISync support Nokia N70 ?

    as title
Any one of you using isync on Tiger(10.4.5) with Nokia N70 successfully?

metaclasses.plist modification is required for N70 or N90 to work with Tiger 10.4.5's iSync 2.1.1 (89.0)
    Navigate to Applications -> iSync -> (Control-click and Show Package Contents) -> Contents -> Plugins -> ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice -> Contents -> Plugins -> PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin -> Contents -> Resources
Remove any pairing first then replace the metaclasse.plist with this (N70 and N90 tiff icons included):
    http://s18.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0SY1TC1135HR12YXWK5SNHX9MB
Do a Repair Permision after and your all set. Back up your original metaclasses.plist just to be safe.
Worked well with my N70 and N90.

  • ISync + Nokia N70

    Hi.
Until the upgrade to Snow Leopard iSync worked well with my Nokia N70.
It seems to me that my Mac is able to set up a bluetooth connection [ I can send files to it] but in iSync the phone isnt recognised, although the pairing is successful. Before the succesfull new "pairing" I get a message like "Bluetooth setup assisant cant set up your device as a dial-up modem because the Bluetooth interface isnt available. Open network preferences to add it". After this message Bluetooth comes back with the message that pairing was succesfully completed. When I continue with iSync no device is found.
    Any suggestions?

Update: I reinstalled isync from the installation disc, with the help of application pacifist. It works like a charm again.

  • Syncing multiple calendars to a Nokia N70

    Hi there
This is my first post and I hope I'm not duplicating any previous ones.
I have just bought a new Nokia N70 and I am very pleased with it - I'd highly recommend it as a solid phone. In the near future, I'll be getting a GPS for it and also hope to use some kind of Office package on it.
I'm using OS X 10.4.6 and found, once I'd activated Bluetooth, iSync worked straight away and synced my Address Book (with pictures) and iCal. My question is this though - has anyone tried syncing multiple calendars and kept the categories on the phone?
The built in calendar on the N70 doesn't appear to support categories, well certainly nothing you can customise, so I downloaded a trial of AquaCalendar which does. However, when I synced, all the category information was lost. Syncing back to the Mac, you can tell iSync to place items created on the phone to a specific calendar, so that's ok, it's just the other way around.
Basically I have 4 calendars on iCal, 1 for me, 1 for my wife, 1 for Birthdays and 1 for UK Hols (subscribed) They have a particular colour and love the way iCal shows them. What I want is to transfer this colour set so I get the same thing on the N70. Anyone had any sucess with this?
    Many thanks
    Simon

    langert3,
You would have to upgrade to Tiger to publish several calendars as a group.
Publishing calendars to .Mac: If you're using iCal 2.0 or later, you can create Calendar groups and publish them to .Mac. If you publish a Calendar group, all the events and To Do information from the calendars in the group is merged and published in one calendar. You can also choose to publish individual calendars in the group.Unfortunately that feature is not available in iCal 1.5.5.

  • Nokia N70 trouble!

    Hello,
I want to emulate the Nokia N70 phone in Flash CS3
Professional. But i have a problem, I need to program something in
Flash Lite 2.0 but the emulator only supports 1.1! What can I do? I
already installed all device profile updates but nothing works. The
real Nokia N70 DOES support Flash Lite 2.0 after a update.
In Flash 8 the emulator worked very well with Flash Lite 2.0
    so I don't understand why I can't fix this in CS3.
    Does anyone have a solution?

    Hi there,
The problem is with 10.4.4. This was a very buggy upgrade. I had exactly the same problem with my 6670. I could iSync and download to my phone, but not upload to the Mac.
I downgraded back to 10.4.3 and all works fine again. To do this, I did an archive and install with my 10.4.0 disc, then applied the 10.4.3 combo updater from the Apple site. Had to reinstall a couple of printer drivers and redo a few settings, but all is back to normal.
    Hope this is useful.

  • Help with Nokia N70 + Belkin Bluetooth USB + OS 10.4.6

    Hello
I've seen previous threads relating to the problems Apple's Bluetooth File Exchange has in recognising/pulling up the contents of a Nokia N70. The advice for N70 users wishing to transfer their photos to the Mac has been to send photos individually from the Gallery in the N70. This process doesn't even work for me, despite the fact that Bluetooth File Exchange and iSync both recognise my phone just fine.
    My questions therefore are:
-- Is there a known solution to Bluetooth File Exchange's inability to list content of a Nokia N70?
-- Is there another Bluetooth application (shareware or other) that can do what the Bluetooth File Exchange can't (in this case)?
-- Why can't I send photos individually from the N70 to my Mac? Is my Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter (Class 2; v1.2) not the right thing?
    Help please!

It works fine for me, I can even mark several of them and send them in one operation.
Since you are concerned about your Adapter, why don't you try the procedure in a Mac with 1.4.7.

  • Nokia N70 as a modem

    Hi Guys
I want to use my Nokia N70 with my MBP as a modem, however, after reading all the posts and tips I still do not manage to get it going. It either disconnects before establishing a connection, or it does not connect at all. Can anybody please assist?
    Regards
    Mike

I wrote up these notes for using the Nokia N70 as a high speed 3G modem via Bluetooth and for using iSync. The first step is to pair your phone through Bluetooth and to sync. If you have already done this, skip to step 2. Be warned: you will need the agreement of your network carrier to pump data through their system via your account.
Step 1. Synching the phone through Bluetooth
    i) On the phone turn on Bluetooth: Menu -> Connect. -> Bluetooth -> Bluetooth "On" & Visibility "Shown to all"
ii) On the Mac turn on Bluetooth in the Bluetooth System Preferences (Control panel) pane: System Preferences -> Bluetooth -> Settings tab -> Bluetooth "On", "discoverable" and "show in menu bar" checked.
iii) Pairing from the Mac in System Preferences: Bluetooth System Preference -> Devices tab -> Set up new device -> Follow prompts -> Select device "mobile phone" -> enter the 6 digit code on the phone -> Review mobile phone set up checking both iSync and phone's data connection and the higher speed connection option -> ignore the final phone settings screen as we will set this later -> Continue & Quit.
iv) iSync will have launched in the background having recognised your N70. Click on the phone icon and configure the sync as required but take care as follows:
    a) on the first sync overwrite the phone data and load the data from the mac
    b) for safety's sake back up both iCal and Address Book before syncing (-> File -> Backup). If necessary both applications have a Revert option just below Backup.
Step 2: Setting up the 3G modem
    i) You will need a modem script as the default Nokia infrared script in your main Hard Disk Library folder will probably not work. A choice of better scripts can be downloaded for free from Ross Barkman's home page http://www.taniwha.org.uk - > Look for Nokia 3G scripts and download the compressed Stuffit archive NOKIA3G2004-12.sit -> A double click will open the folder containing a Readme and two versions of the script NOKIA 3G CID1 and NOKIA 3G CID2 -> Drag both into Hard Disk -> Library -> Modem Scripts
ii) You will also need to know the APN - the "number" dialled for your telephone supplier's network connection. You can find most of these details on Ross Barkman's GPRS page at http://www.taniwha.org.uk/gprs.html. When you have scrolled down to the UK and your supplier's details note the APN, the username and password and also the smtp outgoing email server so that you can send email from your laptop using this connection (See below for instructions on adding this to Mail.)
iii) You will need to set the Bluetooth networking preferences in the System Preferences (Control panels) - System Preferences -> Network -> Location dropdown "Automatic" is fine -> Show dropdown "Bluetooth" -> Bluetooth Modem tab ->select modem script Nokia 3G CID1 -> PPP tab -> Name of Service Provide eg T-Mobile -> Account Name & Password "Username" & "Password" as found at ii) -> Telephone number "APN" as found at ii) - > Check Save Password -> PPP Options uncheck "Send PPP echo packets" (Ross Barkman's advice - see his Scripts Read me) -> Apply Now to finish
iv) You will need to Launch Internet Connect form the Applications folder. In Internet Connect choose Bluetooth -> Configuration drop down "Your Mobile phone supplier as entered at iii) -> Check "Show modem status in the menu bar" making it easier to grab Internet Connect again from the modem symbol. Check that the N70 still has Bluetooth switched on -> Click Connect. You can disconnect from here. Not quite as amazing as broadband with something of the flavour of 56k dialup, but pretty good at near 384 kbs.

  • D-link bluetooth adapter with Nokia N70 problem

I bought a D-link Bluetooth adapter to sync my Nokia N70 with my iMac G5 (1st gen). Adapter is perfectly accepted. Paring with N70 goes well. Sending files: no problem. But: iSync says cannot connect to this device. I have all updates for iSync and MacOS X 10.4.6.
How to solve this? Any solutions or experiences much appreciated!
    Frank

In my services field it says:
SDP Server, AppleAgent, Hands-Free Audio Gateway, Headset Audio Gateway, OBEX File Transfer, SyncMLClient, Nokia OBEX PC Suite Services, OBEX Object Push, Imaging, Dial-Up Networking, Salling Clicker
    Paired: Yes
    Configured: Yes
    Favorite: Yes
    Connected: No
    Serial Port: Yes
Encouraged to play around again, I found out that while sending a file from a SE K750 i it appeared in iSync, while before it did not. I repeated the same with the Nokia N70: as soon I was having an active connection sending files and at the same time ordered it to add a device to iSync it accepted it.
Now bluetooth seems to be working, except for one thing. When I use Bluetooth to connect my iBook and iMac I'm able to send files, but I'm not able to browse the other computer. Again it say something about services....

  • Who can solve iSync problem with Nokia N95? (I use the Nokia plug already)

    Hello
Since I bought my new cool Mac:, I sync my N95 with iSync and the Nokia N95 plug-in. Thinking at first that is works flawlessly (as other members here seem to think as well) I later found out, that if I make changes to any calendar or "to do" description! on either the N95 or the Mac it syncs, but only up until a certain number of characters. If I exceed this number, the description on the phone will simply be cut off - in the iCal it still fully appears though.
Rather surprising, since when syncing with a PC via the Nokia PC suite there is no such an issue. All my often lengthy descriptions are fully put on the phone. And if I sync back there are no problems either. So I guess it has to do with the iSync protocol or this Nokia N95 iSync plug-in? Any ideas, solutions...? Any help greatly appreciated!

The flex cable is damaged. Some years back when I had a Nokia N95 8GB the flex cable was damaged and for a few days the screen was showing strange colours at the display and eventually the screen became black. I went to a local repair shop and I replaced the flex cable and what I noticed was that the flex cable that it had no proximity sensor on it so I told the technician to remove the proximity sensor on the original one and replace it with the new flex cable. Another thing I discovered was that after fitting the flex cable and returning the cover the front camera was not in its usual position so the technician had to do some modifications to get it back to its normal position and after a few months it was damaged and this time I went to Nokia Care Centre and replaced the flex cable for a small fee and what I noticed was that the flex cable that I previously bought was a fake cable. The one bought from Nokia Care Centre had its proximity sensor and when the cover was returned the camera was in its exact position the same as it was with the original flex cable. What I wanted to say is that please beware of fake flex cables on the market and I suggest that you buy it from an authorised Nokia Dealer.

  • Nokia N70 starts with a white Screen.

    Hi all,
My nokia N70 starts with a white Screen and does not go any further. It does not make any sound while starting. When i connect it to the PC it is not detected by the PC while the phone is on showing a white screen. I have tried performing a Hard reset using the *3 and the green key but it is not formatting either. I also tried updating the software but as the PC is not recognising the mobile connection the updater is not working either. I am using the latest PC suite.
    Please help...

Remove the battery for at least 5 minutes and then replace and see if that makes any difference. Also try removing the memory card.
If the above two don't work then try these.Always remember to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost.
    First try these
*#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default
    *#7370# - Reformat your phone
    If still not working
Then try the "3 finger deep reset". With the phone powered off, depress and hold these three keys simultaneously "*" "3" "green phone" and then power on phone using the on/off button whilst keeping the three keys depressed until you hear start-up tone.
This should ONLY be done if the device doesn't power up normally anymore and it wipes everything in the Phone memory that is not part of the ROM.

  • NOKIA N70. IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE???

    NOKIA N70 - DIALLING ITSELF
Could you please advise me on this issue to clear it up with my mobile phone provider.
For the last two years I have been using this phone with a prepaid card, without any problem.
From 6th April 2010 I took a phone plan with TPG and took one call.
On the 9th from 12.47pm TPG charged me about 24 times dialing Optus Assistance number - 0731001356 - Connect 2, with each call costing $1.10.
This happened again on 9/4 another 22 times and again on 18/4 & 19/4 another 24 times.
Each call lasted around 10-20 seconds, occuring one after the other with a few seconds inbetween them.
I don't have this number on speed dial.
TPG advised me that there was on error in their system and that I had made the calls.
When looking at the calls, on more than one occasion there was 2 calls to this same number at the same time. Before one call had finished, another had started to that exact same number.
    Each lasted roughly 10-20 seconds.
How is the phone dialling again, and the call being received by the other number before the first call is finished?
Another thing I noticed is that these calls are not recorded in our phone as outgoing calls.
It only comes up in their system, but there is no record on my dialled numbers history.
Do you agree with TPG, that the phone is at fault and not their system?
Can the phone erroneously dial itself, with no record on the dialled numbers history?
If you could help me with this matter I would be very grateful.
    Thank You

As hrs1364 said, your phone is likely having a virus. The N70 works on the old s60v2 operating system which is prone to viruses.
However, the virus could either be in the phone memory, or in the memory card. The procedure specified by hrs1364 would only work if the virus is on the phone memory, but not if it was on the memory card.
I would suggest you to remove the memory card and reboot the phone, and use it without the card. If it behaves normally without a card, then the problem is on the card which you have to format. If it keeps on acting up, do a hard reset.
Remember that doing a hard reset erases all your data, so be sure you have a backup of contacts, messages and calendar. Do not backup or restore settings and files as the virus would be included in the backup.

My Nokia N70 does not synchronize my outlook once off appointments but only reoccurring ones with Windows 7 as operating system & MS Office 2007 using PC Suite version 7.1.40.1 Why it was working before with older PC Suites?

I had a similar problem.  there are many solutions, not anyone works for everyone.
    Here is what I did:
In the windows file manager, under properties, for each of the files, in the iTunes programs directory.
    AppleMobileDeviceHelper
    ituneshelper
    Synchserver
    to xp compatibility mode.
Do NOT change compatibiliy mode on itunes.exe.
It only applies to Window Vista and newer.
It appears that apple does not play nice with Windows.  The relationship with Microsoft is tenuous, and fixes come late and lst.
