ISync 3, Leopard 10.5.2 & Sony Ericsson W880i

I have the SE W880i which worked just lovely with the Feisar plug-in but now, while iSync goes all through the process and completes and everything - iCal doesn't update the phone's calendar nor do events created on the phone update to iCal. It looks like Address Book updates, but it's the calendar I'm really naffed off about.
Anyone got a solution - apart from waiting for 10.5.3?

There were no changes to iSync in 10.5.2 apart from some minor updates to two Samsung plugins - nothing that would affect your ability to sync your W880i.
I would suggest going through the iSync Tips on our web-page here:
http://www.feisar.com/isync_tips.html
usually a quick click of "Reset Sync History..." in iSync preferences sorts things out.

  • ISYNC Nokia 6121 or N70 or Sony Ericsson V640 SYNC???????

I am getting a new phone on phone insurance and want to ensure it works with isync. I cant seem to find either the Nokia 6121 classic or the Sony Ericsson V640 on the isync list. Through version tracker i have seen isync phone plugins 5,2 which says that it works for the Nokia 6121. I also have the choice of an older, proven sync model Nokia N70.
Does anyone know or use any of these phones and know FOR SURE that they sync calendar and address book. Without this function I would be lost!

The *Sony Ericsson V640* works perfectly with iSync using an iSync Plugin from here. You can see all the Contact and Calendar data that is synced listed on that page.

  • Sony Ericsson w880i and iSync

Hi, when arrive an official plugin for SE w880i in iSync?
    Tanks

Well, it took Apple nine months to add support for the K800i. So you could be waiting a very long time. There are also no guarantees that Apple will support any specific phones. They are encouraging third-parties to create plugins.
In the meantime you can get a Phone Plugin to sync the W880i now from here:

  • Sony Ericsson W880i plugin

It took a bit of trickery to get iSync to recognise my SE W880i in 10.4 (copying another plugin and just changing a few labels). Now I have upgraded to 10.5 it has discarded my work around and I can't seem to replicate the fix. Help anybody please?

Your best option would be to use a properly tested and supported iSync Plugin which won't stop working or get overwritten when the OS is updated. Plugins provided by Feisar or Novamedia work fine with 10.5.
It's advisable not to resort to 'trickery' for the reasons you've discovered.

  • Is itunes compatable with sony ericsson w880i?

or is there anything i can download to make it compatable?
would be very greatful for some help.
    sami.

For protected AAC files, no. And we cannot discuss bypassing the protection here. For iTunes Plus items, they should play (and if not, can be converted to another format legally). For more info on iTunes Plus, see here:

  • Sony ericsson K660i

I bought a new sony ericsson K660i, but I can't use isync for address and ical.

The Sony Ericsson K660i has been supported since its release (like most new SE phones) via an iSync Plugin from:

  • Sony Ericsson w580i

Using a powerbook g4 with os 10.4.11 and isync 2.4
When syncing my Sony Ericsson w580i cellphone with mac AddressBook, the data from AddressBook gets transferred correctly over to the cellphone but, new data I had entered manually into the cellphone does not get synced back over to AddressBook. Isn't the syncing supposed to work both ways?
    All for now.
    Marc

Yes, syncing is supposed to work in both ways.
As the Sony Ericsson W580i is not natively supported by iSync, I would suggest contacting the providers of the plugin you are using for assistance. They should be able to advise you.

  • ISync 3.0, Mac OS 10.5.2, Sony Ericsson w850i device not supported

I have a MacBook Santa Rosa that came with Leopard. I want to use iSync 3.0 to synchronize my address book with my Sony Ericsson (SE) W850i. My phone is on the Leopard feature bragging list: http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/
Yet, when I pair my phone to the MacBook via Bluetooth and try to add the device in iSync, it finds the phone and then I am told that "This device is not supported by iSync."
So today I updated to 10.5.2. No change. The Feisar plug-in won't even download. It reminds me that my phone is supported in Leopard. So what gives?
I have tried unpairing and re-pairing, deleting the connection from my phone, restarting my MacBook, turning Bluetooth on and off on both devices, and resetting the iSync History.

    Copied from another thread in which I replied, perhaps it may offer some insight;
After setting up WinXP Pro under Parallels and installing/running Motorola's software, I was able to finally add contacts to the phone. But this wasn't easy. I first exported vCards from Apple's Address Book and imported the same into Outlook's Addresses. Motorola's software has a pretty straightforward interface, but isn't perfect. In order to "Save Changes", it was necessary to unplug and re-plug the phone to complete the process. During all this, the Motorola software unexpectedly quit a few times.
But here's the kicker; after all this work, I thought to give iSync one more try... and it worked!!! I cannot explain how or why it suddenly recognized the phone, but imagine it has something to do with the fact the Motorola's software update is the key.

  • Sony Ericsson k800i and iSync wont be friends

hello, iam having a small issue, i recently downgraded to tiger from leopard and tiger is telling me that iSync isn't compatible with my phone K800i when on the web it says it is compatible, is there a way to upgrade isync? on my leopard it synced perfectly.

    To anyone who can help,
I'm not sure where else to post this, so i thought I'd try here. I just got a Sony Ericsson K790a (apparently same/similar to K800) and although bluetooth and iSync seem to work fine with this phone (using OSX 10.4.9) the removable storage features of the phone seem a little off. When I connect the phone via USB to a PC, it is immediately recognized as a drive (both in phone and in file transfer mode). However, with my intel iMac (home computer) it is another story.
When I connect the phone via USB, the phone does what it usually does on the screen, but nothing happens in phone mode or file transfer mode on the Mac (i.e. no drive shows up). When I restart the computer (set phone in file transfer on restart) and leave the phone connected, the drive shows up (and I imgine so would the memory card if I had one) and file/music transfers are fine so far as I can tell. HOWEVER, when I then try to eject the volume in Finder, the phone does not receive the "go ahead" and remains in a screen telling me I can't disconnect it. If I restart again, the phone has a brief period where it says it is safe to remove. This means that in order to transfer files to my phone with the Mac I'll have to reboot my computer twice (once to get the drive recognized, and once to eject it safely). Pretty frustrating/time-consuming.
Sony's people, although very friendly, have been incredibly unhelpful, telling me that it is definitely a Mac issue, they offer no support for Mac, nor articles in their knowledge base, or user forums for their products (so others might post a solution to what I imagine is not an isolated issue). I managed to find an article somewhere that said that they had an issue with drivers for the USB cable itself, however I tried installing both drivers he listed and neither changed anything.
Has anyone else had this issue or know anything about how to fix it? Is this normal or as good as it gets for these functions with the Mac? Anyone know of any third party apps (Adium, Crossover, etc) that might be interfering with these functions?
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

  • Sony Ericsson 902 mutlimedia manager on Mac OS Leopard

    Hi,
How do I access ISYNC on my Mac OS Leopard to be able to use Multimedia Manager for new phone I bought, a Sony Ericsson 902.
    Thanks,

    Not directly.
You can transfer (non-protected) iTunes tracks to your phone using EasyListening:
    http://www.divinerobot.com/
From iPhoto you can either drag and drop if the phone is connected via USB, or export pictures and then send by Bluetooth using the Bluetooth File Exchange.
There's also a program called FoneLink by novamedia for complete phone management, although it doesn't yet support the C902 (I would presume that is coming soon).

  • Sony Ericsson w300i and iSync 2.2

I am the owner or a brand new Sony Ericsson w300i. This is a clamshell model of the popular 'walkman' brand cell phones.
Unfortunately, iSync does not recognize this phone. Does anyone have information on how to add support for this phone, or when an iSync update may support it?
    Thanks.

Replying to my own question. Seems you can get the w300i to work with iSync by following the directions here:
    http://mobile.feisar.com/z530isync22.html
Once you install that plugin, find the MetaClasses.plist file and modify it so that "W300" replaces all occurrences of "Z530". Then start iSync and everything should work (you may have to pair with the phone first).
I believe this works since the W300i is derived from the Z530.

  • Sony Ericsson W810i and iSync 2.4: "can not connect to this device"

I am using Mac OS 10.4.11 and iSync 2.4, which I believe are the most up to date versions. My Sony Ericsson W810i is shown as being compatible with iSync as shown on the iSync support page, but while I try to add the phone to it I get the message:
    "W810i
iSync can not connect to this device".
Does anybody have any ideas how to sort this problem? I've tried restarting both my computer and phone before trying again.

I finally figured out how to fix this problem. The mobile phone had to be initially added by the computer under Bluetooth to pair them before adding the device to iSync. Adding the computer as a device to the phone to pair them, as I had been doing, didn't allow it to work with iSync.

  • New isync 2.2 won't synce with sony ericsson S700i on 10.4.6

Like everyone else I was happily running iSync with 10.4.5 worked perfect now after updating to 10.4.6 I get the same as with everyone else. I did all the blah blah Apple 2.2 Sync details to the letter from their site. Sync gets most of the way and the phone spews back the " can't do this cos of error in phone???".....we are all feeling the pain I think. So tell me Apple? Did you try it on a Sony Ericsson before give it to us???....Man talk about a pain.
You should have left it alone? So do I get to send you a bill for my lost time? I charge $200 per hour as a design consultant and you and your great update has cost me an $200 in lost time....would have rather spent it on itunes at least that way I get something for my money instead of a frustrating experience. For God's sake test before you stuff everyones frustration!
    G5 POWERMAC   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

The S700i uses the same phone firmware software as the K700 and K750. We are discussing this problem over here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=429497&tstart=0
I have a S700i as well and right now, I decided to sync it with my Powerbook running OS X 10.4.5 until a solution is posted.
10.4.6 feels a bit rushed to be honest See you in the other thread!

For K810i support you just need an iSync Phone Plugin from here.

  • New sony Ericsson V600i isync compatability

    Please HELP!
I needed a phone to sync with my contacts. I was first sold a Nokia 9300 Communicator, then I bought a motorola RAZR V3 ( neither worked with isync, as the sales agents had promised) Then I was told this Sony Ericsson V600i would definitly work with my Mac!
    They still dont pair up..
    Please advize...
    Thank you
    Andrew

Aha! Here is the answer: it seems that one cannot run the Bluetooth File Exchange app at the same time as iSync, in order for the sync to work properly. I quit the Bluetooth File Exchange and am now happy as Larry.
    I hope this helps others.
