ISync duplicates numbers in my V330 Motorola phone

I have a Motorola V330 that I hacked to make iSync recognize as a V551. Everything works fine except every time I sync with my iMac G5's Address Book, I get dozens of duplicate numbers. Any solution for this?

Troubleshooting this is almost impossible to do remotely.
First, consider this: iSync remained unchanged from Mac OS X 10.4.9 onward, until the release of iSync 3 with Mac OS X 10.5 in October of last year. In addition, a 'SIM swap' could not make any difference because your synchronized contacts, events and tasks are not stored on a SIM, and the SIM is not accessible by iSync. Data stored on the SIM is there because it has been copied to it at some point by a user.
It is difficult to understand how iSync could have selectively removed only telephone numbers from one or more records, leaving data in the remaining fields of a record intact. It simply does not work that way.
A firmware update to an existing device or using a different device with updated firmware might account for the issues you are seeing, but simply swapping a SIM could not.

Why is syncing with Motorola phones so BAD?

By now I would have thought the leader in mobile phones (Motorola) and Apple would have their act together, especially since they share technology putting iTunes in the ROKR and SLVR and RAZR.
I just bought a new SLVR and the syncing is as bad as it was with my black RAZR:
1. every phone number in Address Book gets a new contact in the phone, with an ugly -1, -2, etc. appended for multiple numbers belonging to 1 name
2. Address Book photos don't sync
3. iCal recurring appointments don't sync right-- they go to the phone, then on the next sync iSync thinks their new and adds them AGAIN to iCal in a messed up "detached" fashion (no longer recurring)
3. Address Book companies are listed only by the person's name in that company (if one exists) when it should be listed by Company Name, or better yet, changeable as a preference
4. company names have dashes in them instead of spaces
5. Motorola apparently doesn't believe in middle names, prefixes, or suffixes in a name
I mean, come on. What does it take to program text fields properly? This is 2006. All new phones should be good enough to use as simple PDAs at this point, ESPECIALLY a new $400 phone from Motorola, an Apple partner. The **** thing comes with a 512MB memory card!!! Yet they still can't store a decent contact.

1. Motorola Address Book model is based on phone numbers and not on contacts. One entry IS a phone number...
2. Motorola phones DON'T SUPPORT REAL SYNC AT ALL... So every time iSync has to sync with the phone, it has to download all the contents of phone's Address Book and Calendar, compare it to what it "should be" (without forgetting that datas on the phone are a degraded version of Mac's data since Mac has a much much richer model for Address Book and Calendar). This explains, for example, why syncs with Motorola are much slower than with other phones and why iSync has to handle much problems and edge cases.
3. Communication protocol provided by Motorola phones to access Address Book and Calendar is based on AT commands which is very (very) limited... many attributes (like contact pictures) can't be accessed or modified this way.
All in all... any minor iSync bug might have bigger consequences with Motorola phones.

What exactly can iSync to for me between mac and phone?

I want to test out my new KRZR K1m with iSync, but I do not want it to wipe out all of my contacts. My service provider is verizon, and they uploaded all my contacts from my old phone to my new KRZR K1m. Since I never sync'd the old cellphone w/ a computer, I do not want to accidentally delete everything on my phone by replacing it w/ my addressbook just yet.
but really, I just want to know what can by transferred via bluetooth between my mac and the KRZR?
can I transfer songs? pictures/video?
what kinds of things can iSync do for me and what is the best way to go about it without accidentally erasing the KRZR's phone contacts?

You don't have to worry about erasing all of your contacts. If you haven't synced the phone before, open iSync and click the "Sync" button in the main window. (It's the iSync logo to the right.)
Once you click sync, iSync looks for bluetooth devices and/or USB devices (phones, PDAs, etc.) Once it has found your device, it will display it to the left of the iSync window. Click on it and you'll see a bunch of options including, "For First Sync". There is a dropdown menu next to this with two options:
1. Merge data on computer and device
or....
2. Erase data on device then sync.
Obviously in your case you would choose numero uno...
iSync will then add all of your phone numbers on the phone to your Mac Address Book and will sync your existing Address Book contacts to the phone.

PAP2t EU Problem - Dialing Duplicate Numbers

Guys, i have PAP2T EU which creating the problem like dialing the duplicate numbers. For example I dial 025023456 (typical brussels number) it will dial 022550002344555 somthing like that. What to do with it?

Hello,
the problem may also be incompatibility in the impedance between the attached phone and FXS port impedance setup.
Also, the phone may generate tones on the edge of norm / out of norm / and PAP2T may realy "hear" every tone twice.
So please check with another phone, check the impedance, and - last but not least - make sure you only use 2wire cable
(inner 2 wires only) between PAP2T LINE1 socket and your phone - certain SPA-2102 and PAP2T models has both lines
wired on LINE1 socket and it may cause incompatibility with the attached phone if 4 wire cable is used.

Did you download it to iTunes?
If so, connect your iPhone to your computer and open iTunes. Click on your iPhone and navigate to the Tones tab. Be sure to click in the box next to Sync Tones and mark the ones you want on your phone. Then click on the Apply button and you should be all set. Once your iPhone finishes syncing, open your iPhone and choose settings > sounds > Ringtone. In the listing of possible ringtones you should see the ones you just added at the top of the list. Tap the one you want to use for your main ringer and it is a done deal.

In the older MIDP 1.0 models it was usually a matter of drawing outside of the regular borders (ignoring the value returned by getHeight).For MIDP 2.0 models of course there is Canvas.setFullScreenMode(). But you never get the whole screen, the top bar with the status and battery signal can't be drawn over.

I tried on motorla site, but nothing. I think the problem ride on button menu.
In practice on my phone motorola when i start the apllication, i see first item of menu at left side and on center i see a button menu and if i click on this, i see second, third and fourth button of the menu. But i will want that all menu will seen on left side clicking on only button.

Writing streaming application is "write once and debug everywhere" nigthtmare for me. That is my frustration.
my motorola phone v3xx streams in the browser. But when used with createplayer("rtsp://xxxxx/video.3gp"), it throws securityexception . I am not sure what I miss. I have set the permissions.

Because adding a Title in iPhoto is not the same as renaming a file, plus, using drag and drop means you have no opportunity to rename the file.
However, if you use File -> Export you'll see the Filename options in the Export window - one of them is to use the Title as Filename.

Capture image on motorola phones

I am developing a application for motorola phones.
I want to use Media API...n create Player using
Player p = Manager.createPlayer("capture://video");
Though documents says that it supports still image capture ..but on testing on phone through System.getProperty("supports.video.capture")...it gives me false.
I am using MotoRazr V3i.
Does anybody know that on which motorola phones (available in India)..does still image capture and file read/write really works??

Thumb drive will not accept duplicate numbers altho pics are different from iPhoto. Can numbers/labels be changed?

iPhoto 11, vers. 9.2.3 - Photos downloaded from my camera have a set of numbers which are repeated with each download posing a problem when trying to place them on a CD or thumb drive as the duplicate numbers are not accepted. I have well 2500 photos and possibly dozens of duplicate numbers. I thought I could simply modify the name of each photo but that does not work. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you.

Two simple solutions
1 - export to different desktop folders on the desktop and then drag those folders to the thumb drive - duplicate file names in different folders are fine (you can not have duplicates in the same folder)
2 - export to a desktop folder using the sequential file name option - Exporting From iPhoto - and drag that folder to the Thumb drive
