ISync hangs on lanch - can't sync Moto E815

I'm trying to sync a Moto E815 using iSync. The problem is that iSync when either launched from the dock or from the Apps folder just bounces up and down and never successfully launches. When I try to launch it from the menu bar (the sync icon at the top of the screen), I get an error message that says that my .Mac sync is turned off, but when I go to the System Preferences window and try to go to the sync section, that selection is greyed out. According to the .Mac web-site, my sync is turned on.
I've tried reinstalling the full 10.4.9 update package, but that didn't seem to work. Can anyone suggest anything else?

Phone was damaged during remote flash upgrade by Verizon and they just "neglected" to let me know. They replaced the phone.

  • How can I sync my Nokia phone to my Contacts and Calendars without iSync?

Previous to updating to Lion, I would use iSync and a plug-in to sync my Nokia C3-00 to my Address Book Contacts and my iCal Calendar events.
Now that I updated, iSync is gone. However, I still need to sync my phone from time to time, is there anyway I can go about this?

This worked for me (I have a Sony Ericsson Elm J10i2). Thanks for the tip.

HHelp can't sync Calendar.  It hangs with error -"403" to operation CalDAVMigrateToServerQueueableOperation

    Hello, workhorse.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Try removing the preference to sync calendar events in iCloud preferences.  Once this is done enable the preference again and see if this resolves the issue.
Turn iCloud Calendars off and back on:
    Quit Calendar (or iCal).
Choose Apple () menu > System Preferences, then select iCloud.
Deselect the checkbox next to Calendars.
Close System Preferences and wait about a minute.
Open System Preferences and select iCloud.
Replace the checkmark next to Calendars.
    Close System Preferences.
Open Calendar (or iCal) and test to see if the issue is resolved.
Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it reinitializes your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.
If the issue persists, try all remaining steps in the article below.

  • ISync time out - can't sync with Treo

I am having trouble syncing my Treo to G4 iMac (although it works with G4 Powerbook). Settings are set, as instructed on both iSync and Hotsync, however, on iMac I get the following:
    Loading “Apple”
    Conduit “iSync Conduit” version 3.0.0
    Sync type is Fast
iSync Conduit starting 9/15/06 11:31:30 AM
Timeout waiting for Sync Engine, exiting 9/15/06 11:37:32 AM
    iSync Conduit synchronization failed
“iSync Conduit” failed (error = #-1)
    Help??

If you examine the iSync Palm Conduit using either the HotSync Manager or the HotSync menu of the Palm Desktop, is the option Enable iSync with this Palm device checked or enabled?
In the drop-down pane for your device in iSync, are the Contacts and Calendars options checked or enabled?

  • How can I sync my motorola KRZR K1 in Lion?

I was using iSync in snow leopard to sync my moto phone contacts and calendar, but as I updated to lion, I was just WONDERING why iSync has been gone!!
This was one of the best features of osx I've ever loved to use. but now I can't sync my moto phone with my mac anymore.
What's the alternate to iSync? how can I sync again?

You can only sync with one iTunes library that is why.
    - If you want to switch syncing computers see:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
    - You can also manually manage music and videos among different computer/libraries.
Go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.

  • I can't sync my iPod after upgrading to iTunes 7 - Help!

I'm running an Intel 20" iMac with all of the latest software updates applied.
My iPod is a 30GB iPod Photo (4G) running software version 1.2.1.
I upgraded to iTunes 7 last night. Since then, I can't sync my iPod. Here's what happened/happens...
I installed iTunes 7. On first run (iPod disconnected) it checked for album art and ran through my library to determine the zero gap playback info. That all happened successfully.
When I connect my iPod (which is set to auto update), it recognizes it, and show the status page (also shows up in "devices" in left pane) and immediately a small window pops up with the text "Updating library on 'Evan's iPod'". The progress bar gets to somewhere between 30-70% and then hangs.
I left it running all night and it never finished. My only option was to Force Quit iTunes. Once I did, my iPod was still fine, and had all my music on it, just nothing new.
I've tried rebooting my computer and iPod, to no avail.
I would try reformatting my iPod, except that you can now (seemingly) only do that through iTunes (as opposed to a separate updater as in the past). Since iTunes locks up as soon as my iPod is connected, that doesn't help me much...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Evan

Ok... I just tried connecting my iPod directly to a USB port on the computer rather than via the USB hub I was using and everything is fine. Odd, but I'm happy now.
    Thanks,
    Evan

  • Can I sync x20 different Indesign set ups in one go?

Is it possible to manage and sync a whole company's Indesign workspaces from a single point? Currently, it has been set up so all individuals have their own login / password to Creative Cloud. However, we'd really like to be able to sync a MAIN unified workspace, a set of client colour palettes and new start up document presets. (Then people can customise their own space from this starting point).
Is it possible to do this via the cloud or is it through a manual update on every single machine (through library>indesign prefs)?

There are two ways of doing this, both quite easy:
    1) If you and your wife both have separate user accounts on your Mac, then you just set-up each phone in the relevant user account and choose the data to sync and off you go.
    2) If you and your wife share a single user account, you can set multiple phones up in iSync, and each phone can be set to sync a different Address Book group for Contacts, and different Calendars for iCal. Just click on the phones icon in iSync to set the syncing options.
My wife and I use the first option on our main Mac because there are many other benefits to having separate user accounts on the same Mac. All your personal preferences and settings can be set independently, your emails, contacts and other personal data can all be kept separate. You can then set up fast user switching to quickly switch between the two user accounts.

  • Can't sync iPhone to new iMac

I follow all the knowledgebase advice: I've authorized iTunes on the new iMac, I've unchecked 'auto sync' in Preferences. I connect my iPhone directly to the computer via USB. I right click on the device and select 'Transfer Purchases', iTunes gets to the 'Transferring Purchases from iPhone "x" Waiting for changes to be applied' and then hangs. I've even tried 'erase and replace', and again it hangs. I'm stuck. What do I do?

I can't sync my iPad either. Help!

  • Can't sync Palm Zire

I am trying to sync my Palm Zire 31 with iSync. I have the 'Apple' conduit installed properly and I have enabled it using Hotsync Manager. When I start iSync and hit the sync icon on the Palm, a sync process starts, but the symbol for the Palm never shows up on the iSync window and the sync times out and fails. I was able to sync with this device before using the Palm conduits and Palm desktop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
    Frank

It seems that the iSync conduit is found and loaded, but it fails to work. I don't know how to remedy this. Reinstall the conduit? - but where can I find a copy of it? I tried deleting the plist you referred to, but iSync will still not show the Palm after I 'enable Palm syncing' in iSync and enable 'iSync for this Palm' device in HotSync. I did an OS X repair-cleanup (Applejack) before this last attempt.

  • Can't sync iPhone to iBook

I just upgraded my iBook to 10.5.5, iTunes to 8.0.2, and iPhone to 2.2.
Now when I connect iPhone to iBook, I get messages saying that this computer can not sync, do I want to override, etc., and finally "iTunes was not able to read the dataclass information from the synchronization service. Reconnect or try again later", which then goes through the same series of messages.
    What should I do?

Create a new user on the iBook and see if your are able to sync. There may be a problem with the sync services portion of the MacOS.
If you are able to sync in the new user, go back to the old user and try resetting sync history.
    This article explains how: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iSync/2.0/en/isc39.html
If that still does not work, I would suggest calling Apple as there may be some deeper issues going on with the OS.

  • Can one Sync select apps data from say a desktop G5 to a MBP?

I was wondering if iSync has the ability to sync certain apps data between a traveling MBP laptop and my everyday home desktop G5?
For example, I want to just sync very specific things like:
-my Captain FTP data so I can keep FTP data current on my laptop as it is my desktop where I mess with it most
-1Password data so my updated 1Password access data from my daily desktop can get sync'd over to a MBP
    -Entourage User Identity "database"
these are just examples and I am not even sure iSync is designed to do this type of sync and, can you even select what it syncs?
if not, any other ideas other than just manual slow carry-over via target Disk Mode.

No, iSync is only for syncing Contacts and Calendars between Address Book / iCal and non-Apple mobile phones.
Google "ChronoSync" for something that may do what you want.

  • Can't add my e815 to iSync

I just got a new Moto e815 (specifically b/c it is supposed to be supported by iSync). When I add a new device, iSync sees the e815, but says it is not supported.
    Any ideas?

The Motorola E815 mobile handset was not initially supported by iSync 2, which if you are running Mac OS X 10.4.2, you are probably using. The answer: upgrade to at least Mac OS X 10.4.3 and iSync 2.1 to get support for your handset. [Current releases are Mac OS X 10.4.5 and iSync 2.1.1] Applying the Mac OS X 10.4.3 Combo updater will achieve both objectives, or you can update iSync 2 to 2.1 alone, as 2.1 requires only Mac OS X 10.4 to install.
Although these additional issues are not related to iSync, you should be aware of them if your handset is supplied by Verizon: You will not be able to transfer files to and from it as the OBEX profile is not supported, nor will you be able to use it to connect your computer to the internet, as it is a V CAST device and that technology is not compatible with the DUN profile.

  • Can't sync contacts anywhere from mac.

    Mac OSX 10.6.5, iOS 4.3
My wife's MacBook Pro syncs to MobileMe and with iTunes, syncs to her iPod Touch and new iPad 2. We discovered yesterday that the MBP was not syncing contacts correctly to MM, so I deleted all contacts on MM after archiving the MBP's contacts. Then I followed a number of suggestions for getting MBP to sync contacts to MM (e.g. logging off MM and then unregistering/re-registering the mac and syncing from mac to MM), but I was unsuccessful every time.
In the meantime, her Touch and iPad lost their contacts since they sync with MM as well. Contacts on the mac are still there, I've turned off syncing (down) from MM in MobileMe's system preferences.
Today, I decided to give up on MM for the time being, since a lot of users in the MM forum are having similar problems. I then went into iTunes, checked the box to sync all contacts from MBP to Touch. The sync did not copy the data. At this point I began suspecting the MBP had a problem and not MM.
I "reset Sync Services" in iSync, rebooted the mac, and tried to sync via iTunes to the Touch again. The sync went through all the motions, but when done, the Touch still had no contacts. I turned off cloud syncing to MM on the Touch and did another sync in iTunes. The tab for contacts on MM went away as expected and no contacts came in from the mac. I also tried syncing with iTunes to the iPad, same result.
Here's one strange thing - on some help web page for fixing non-syncs using contacts, it mentions that after dong a sync reset and going into the iTunes tab for the iPad/Touch, when I turn on syncing of the address book, I should be able to choose All contacts or only certain groups. However, I am unable to choose the latter; I can only sync all contacts. (Only the All Contacts radio button works, the other is grayed out.)
An apple help page on resetting the SyncServices folder mentions issuing a command in Terminal, if the iSync "reset Sync Services" doesn't work:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsync .pl
    reset
That didn't work either. As a test of syncing to the iPad/Touch, I added an event in iCal and turned on Calendar syncing in iTunes for each device. That event did sync. It appears it's only the contacts that don't seem to sync anywhere - not to other devices and not MobileMe.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

You'd be better off asking in the dedicated MobileMe forums starting here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=116
iSync itself plays no part in syncing iOS devices or with MobileMe. iSync is for syncing third-party mobile phones via a USB or Bluetooth connected.
iSync shares use of the same SyncServices framework as iTunes and MobileMe, and provides one method for resetting it, but that's the only connection.
Here's a couple of MobileMe Support articles that may help:
