ISync icon on status bar vs. opening app

Ok- new to Mac so I apologize if I butcher this question- however, I have a RAZR- and the syncing thing works great. But, in order to sync, I have to open iSync and click "sync devices". Why doesn't clicking on the small sync icon on the upper status bar, then selecting "sync now" do the same thing?
As an aside, other than Quickbooks, I LOVE my new Mac- so glad I made the big switch.

For some unknown reason, Apple changed this when Mac OS X 10.4 came out. Previously the Sync Now function synced all devices. Now it only syncs .Mac.
If iSync is open, and you use the Sync Now menu item, it will sync all devices however.
I made a simple application to re-instate the previous functionality, which you can download from my site here:

You can stick it in your dock, or in your favourite menu bar launcher.

BTW it normally only shows if jailbreaked and also tells you that those apps are running in the background so the notifications can be poled .

WiFi icon in status bar disappeared

Hi, two days ago the wifi icon in the status bar just disappeared. I can connect to wifi networks as usual, but no wifi icon is visible anymore. Could this be due to having installed the Accuweather app? This app has a temperature notification in the status bar. However, the wifi icon does not come back even when I switch off Accuweather notifications... I tried rebooting etc, but nothing seems to work. Bizarre.

How to bring back status bar when opening Excel doc mail attachment?

I have an iPad updated to 6.1.3. When I open up an Excel document from mail it opens the attachment fine and the status bar across the top with the 'Done' option to close the doc appears then disappears altogether after a few seconds giving you full screen access to the file. No problem there, but bringing it back to be able to close the document is tricky. Tapping along the top works only sometimes....I haven't been able to find a consistent way to bring it back to close the document. I can slide down across the top to bring up the notification center but tapping across the top to bring the bar back to close the file will only work after playing around with it for about 20 touches or so. Is there a trick to this or a way to keep the status bar there? Thanks in advance!!

Then quit the mail app completely and reboot your iPad, then try again. What we are describing is the way that it is done. Your mail app might be just acting a little hinky now.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Small chain link icon on status bar

I connected my ipod to my mac mini via bluetooth, and a small chain link icon appeared next to the word "ipod" on the status bar. Does any one know what this icon means?

Unidentified icon in status bar [Flame FFOS2.0]

I have been using a Flame updated with the official release of FFOS 2.0 for some days.
It happened twice that, for no apparent reason, an icon I cannot identify appears in the status bar. It is similar to the incoming call icon, but the arrow is bent like the reply icon, and a little '1' is there too (I assume it may refer to the first of my two SIMs). I cannot find this icon anywhere (see https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/styleguide/products/firefox-os/ for reference). When it appears, nothing peculiar seems to be happening. In particular, there are no calls going on.
I wonder what is the meaning of this icon, and if there is a reason why I see it.

Solved the problem: I just had to go on Settings > Call Settings ( > Sim 1 ) and wait a few seconds for data to be collected from the network, and the mysterious icon disappeared. No further action were required.
I suspect the original problem was originateb by doing the same operation (going in Call Settings) and exiting without waiting for data to be collected.
Yesterday (when the mysterious icon was still in place) I noticed various problems with the network: I was not receiving incoming calls, and at times the first SIM was marked as missing.
I guess there should be a bug here somewhere…

Out-of-list icon in status bar

I got a strange icon (looks like a key) right next to the battery icon when I swipe down the status bar once. I have no idea what it is and how to turn it off. Please tell me what this icon stands for. Thank you.

if you are using a phone or tablet to post > scroll to the bottom > tap on full version > then you should be able to see a picture/landscape icon > to add a picture, but you could do something a lot easier

How do I remove the status bar from iPhone apps on the iPad?

Whenever I go onto an iPhone app on my ipad I have recently had the status bar covering up some of my game. Here is an example: http://i.imgur.com/Q9xnYhT.jpg
As you can see the score is hidden, I have gone through the settings and can't find anything,please help! It only started doing it when I reset my settings and updated to 7.1.

Same problem...seems that this is for apps that are for iPhone and/or for both...but not for ones made just for iPad!
Used to be able to click the 2X and the app would go full screen...not anymore...Apple you need to fix this!!!

Hide NFC icon from status bar

How do I get rid of the NFC icon without actually turning NFC off? I can turn just about everything off using Personalization->Status bar icons, but I don't see an option for NFC there.

Reply icon problems in Mail, and Opening Apps Word, Excel

Hi
I have two major problems with Lion.
1.) In Lion if a conversation email is open and lets say I've replied to the first email, if i get a new email from that person it shows it as being replied to. (Unless you open the collosapable icon then it shows which ones have been replied to.)
This is very annoying as all my business staff, when glansing at emails think they've replied to some, when in fact they have not.
How can we fix this or sort this problem out?
2.) When we open Excel or Word, it seems to open any recent documents we've had open and this is very frustrating. Especially if your showing someone a document and you don't want private documents popping up. Any ideas?

Why do i get two tabs and a status bar reminder opening when i start Firefox 4

And where firefox would normally show the Question Do you want Firefox to remember Password.. I get a Know your rights screen which has some basic settings for Firefox

You did try to delete the prefs.js file (and a possible user.js file) in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] ?

[SOLVED]Gnome: No network icon in the status bar

So fresh install and no networking icon in the status bar.
I also opened the network connections program and it didnt show any connections. I am using eth0 to write this.
This suggests to me that a daemon hasnt been started (but doesnt necessarily explain no icon in status bar)
here is the daemon section of my rc.conf
DAEMONS=(hwclock syslog-ng network netfs crond networkmanager dbus gdm)
i added network manager as a previous attempt (on advise of someone elsewhere on the internet(cannot remember where lol))

I had already noticed the redundancy of network which was added in the install however hadnt considered the ordering
