ISync is not working

I can no longer sync my PowerBook G4 to my MobileMe account.  The icon on my menu bar is grey w/ an exclamation point in the middle.  In my Mobile Me system preferences, the Sync button does not work.  When I try to lauch iSync,  get the following error message: iSync cannot be launched. SyncServices: Can't connect to the sync server: NSPortTimeoutException: connection timeout: did not receive reply ((null)).  Other than reinstalling the system software, is there anything that can be done to restore iSync functionality to my PBG4.  I am running 10.5.8 w/ the latest security updates.

    i regularly use the iPhone 3GS , but carry the my rusty nokia 3110 when roaming abroad ( every 2 weeks ) to , well , avoid paying roaming charges
    i've just moved to mac from PC. to begin with , nokia does not have a "Mac suite " , iSync does not support the 3110 , nokia multimedia transfer doesn't work , too.
    apart from manually adding phone numbers , what can i do to sync to my address book in 10.6.2 ?

    I also bought a Peltor bluetooth headset. I used it with 2 different phones (n73 and n96) and had problems with the connection on both phones. For example every time I turned off the headset, I had to pair the devices again. I also have used several other bluetooth headsets with absolutey no problems. So I assumed the problem was on the Peltor headset and sent it for service. I hope it will start to work.

    Hi acuervo,
    Some points to be followed before performing the sync.
    - Check whether your N97 has the device firmware 20.0.019 ( *#0000# in the device and check)
    - Download the Isync plugin for N97 from www.nokia.com/mac
    - Follow the steps to install the plugin
    - Connected the device ( bluetooth- first add the device using the Bluetooth set up assistant)
    - Then launch isync and if there is already a device added, then please remove the device.
    - Add the N97 device. it will be shown in the Isync pane window.
    - Make sure that the phone was enough battery charge.
    - Try to sync now.
    If you already performed the steps above then try these.
    - Isync- Preferences- Click reset sync history
    - Then close isync and then restart the mac ( this will clear all the previous sync histories)
    - Then connect the device and check to sync.
    NOTE: N97 isync plugin works only if you have a software version of 20.0.019 in the device.

    I have noticed that my MacBook is no longer syncing my Contacts to either my iPhone or to MobileMe. The Calender synchronisation is working OK but not the Contacts.

    iSync doesn't sync to either the iPhone or MobileMe. It's only for syncing to non-Apple mobile phones.
    Try asking in the MobileMe Sync forum.

  • ISync has stopped working ~ Help

    I use Isync to keep MobileMe and my iPhone updated. iSync is not working. I tried the fix in support and it didn't work. The message I get when I try to load iSync by itself is that it can't connect to the sync server.
    What do I need to do to fix this?

    I do not even have an ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices folder? If I try and click on Sync in mobile me it just grays out. If I try and open isync it gives the same error as above.
    Very odd as I would not have deleted this.

    I reinstalled my Mac OS 10.4.8. Since then, iSync does not work. I've resetted all I could reset (iSync preferences in "Library", removed my mobile phone from iSync and Bluetooth, removed my MacBook out of my mobile phone, restarted my mobile phone, restarted my MacBook, checked date and time, ...). But nothing helped. I still get this message:
    "Sync failed" in German: "Beim Laden einiger Änderungen auf das Telefon ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Die Synchronisation wurde möglicherweise abgebrochen." Translated: "While performing Changes on the mobile phone an error occured. The synchronisation may be canceled."
    Any ideas??? It worked before I reinstalled Mac OS X.

    Not all the data needs to be corrupt for it to trip up iSync. Just one contact could have a corrupted character in it, which might not even be visible to you, but would make a sync fail.
    It is quite possible to backup corrupt data! And if you do backup corrupt data, it will still be corrupt when you restore it.
    Firstly, you need to find out whether it is your Contacts or Calendars that are preventing the sync. Disable one or the other in iSync and try syncing to determine which.
    Do you have any subscribed Calendars in iCal? If so, remove them and try syncing. Often subscribed calendars can prevent syncing.
    If Calendars sync ok, try exporting all your Address Book contacts as vCards (drag them to the desktop). Make a backup of your Address Book data (File > Backup Address Book...). Then completely delete the contents of your Address Book. Finally re-import the vCards you saved by double-clicking them.
    See if that allows a sync to complete.
    If not, make a group in Address Book and just put a few contacts in. Try syncing just that group in iSync. If it completes, add a few more to the group and try syncing again. Keep doing this until you find where it stops syncing. Then you can delete the offending contact(s), re-enter their data manually, and try syncing again.

  • New iSync 2.2 still not working with Nokia 6230

    I was very pleased to see iSync 2.2 come out yesterday and have support for the series 40 phones - however after Installing 10.4.6 on my new MacBook Pro, and opening iSync, the phone is found by Add Device, but when I go to add it I get the message:
    "Your phone, 'xxxx' does not work with this version of iSync.
    To enable this phone to work with iSync, contact the phone’s manufacturer or your service provider to update the firmware on your phone. For more information, visit the iSync Support website."
    The picture comes up but even if I drag the phone icon to the iSync window I can not sync it - 'Turn on Device Synchronization' will not stay ticked and clicking on Sync ends in a window saying it can't sync until I add a device to iSync.
    The Phone is properly paired with the computer through Bluetooth Device Setup. (Address Book works with it just fine, as does file browsing)
    Has anyone been able to get their series 40 or more specifically 6230 phones working with iSync 2.2?

    Same error message here.
    I upgraded the phone's firmware from 4.44 to 5.50 this morning and IT WORKS great with iSync 2.2!!!!!

  • Caller ID not working with Nokia 6600?

    I have a T-Mobile (US) Nokia 6600, and I can't seem to get address book to display incoming SMS or the caller ID of incoming calls. I've successfully paired the phone via bluetooth, and I can make address book dial the phone and send an sms. I can sync via iSync, use my phone as a modem, etc. etc.
    But regardless of what settings I tweak, I can't seem to get Address Book to show a bezel of any kind on incoming calls - not even an 'Unknown Caller' message! Am I missing something obvious? Third party apps like BluePhoneElite work just fine, so I'm pretty sure it's something wrong with Address Book...

  • Upgraded to 10.4.9 - iSync no longer works with RAZR V3c (screenshots)

    iSync has been working great with my RAZR V3c. I've been using it for my Address Book and iCal.
    Upgraded to 10.4.9 and now it doesn't recognize any devices to sync to, which is odd.
    I can still browse the phone using Bluetooth File Exchange. And as you can see by the screen shots (below), the setup recognizes my phone and says everything's ready to go. But when I select my phone "Sugapablo.phone" it says in iSync that it's "unknown" and won't work.
    Is this just a f*ck-up from Apple, or is there a way to fix this?

  • ISync will not open and will not synchronize

    I had recently let SOHO Organizer finish a third 30 day trial. I waited about one week after the trial was over. I had been having sync troubles on my computer which I thought were .mac sync problems. After awhile I decided the problems were with some kind of internal syncing mechanism. I have noticed in the activity monitor several times something called "syncserver" using about 99% of the cpu resources. Synchronizations other than with SOHO, if they sync at all, can take many hours. I do not know if any of this could have been caused during the use of my trial version of SOHO Organizer. With the trial version for awhile I was getting several duplications of various calendars. I deleted the unwanted calendars both in SOHO and in iCal. With all of this going on, I purchased SOHO Organizer and then reinstalled it thinking this may somehow fix something. Things are worse. The present condition is after 3 days it has not synchronized. There is only 1 entry showing in contacts, Chronos. My Address Book has 1300 contacts. My calendars are not imported. How do I get the synchronization to work? The most recent development is that iSync will not even open. I get an error message each time stating iSync quit unexpectedly.

    I never figured out the problem or solution. One day after several months of trying different things from time to time it just started working ok. The last thing we tried with the cooperation of tech support at Apple was to set up a new user and migrate all my stuff to it. The first thing we tried to do was migrate the address book to the new user and it failed to open in the new user. I gave up due to time constraints. Then the next time I used my computer I found it was syncing ok.

    Isync 2.4 , Problem SOLVED..! here is the SOLUTION , no more bouncing and stucking.
    DONT download "update combos" and try extracting isync using pacifist .. that does NOT work.
    THIS IS THE PLAN
    1- Deleted the corrupt isync 2.4 and search and delete " syncservice" file.
    2- Reintsall isync using Mac original software .
    you have to use " Pacifist" software from to extract isync.

    -Insert your original Mac OS X Installation Disk.
    -Open Pacifist and click 'Open Apple Install Discs'.
    -Wait while it loads the packages.

    -Click once on the 'iSync.app' it finds, then click 'Install' at the top of the window.
    -Follow the instructions to install it.
    Run " Disk utility " in application and "repair disk permissions"
    RESTART
    Now.. Download the this mac update combo and Run it like a update ..

    i had months of trouble with Isync 2.4 problem, bouncing, being stuck.. finally i sorted it out.
    I have a Nokia n73 and it works fine with it.. dont need a plugin for phone. it just works.. like it was working for a year before.

  • ISync will not use the current .mac password settings

    After accidently deleting the main keychain I am trying to use iSync to bring my keychains back in - I have set up iSync before heading out on the road and had it working properly - I have a .mac account and can access it on the web.
    When trying to sync - and after making sure the proper password is loaded into the .mac system pref's pane I get this error message
    Invalid .Mac Username or Password. Please verify your .Mac Member Name and Password in .Mac System Preferences.
    I searched and found one members solution ( reseting keychain) but it did not work for me - anything else I can do?
    If I wanted to reload Keychain from my desktop where would the file be located so I could get someone to load it up onto my iDisk and replace what is on my Macbookpro

    you are not talking about iSync but about .Mac
    sync... your question should be more suited to the
    .Mac forum.
    However, .Mac sync'ing got some problems this week,
    it seems and it is currently disabled. As seen on
    www.mac.com:
    ".Mac sync services are currently unavailable.
    Changes made to synced information will be reflected
    when the problem is resolved. All other .Mac services
    are unaffected."
