ISync / .Mac sync is... out of sync

I changed the names of two of my Calendars a couple of months ago, and added a couple more calendars and I'm living with the consequences ever after.
First of all, I had endless problems with the old calendars not going away, as the old calendar names remained on the .Mac server. I eventually worked around this by:
1. dumping my last good calendar out to a file,
2. deleting everything on all of my Macs' calendars,
3. syncing with .Mac on each computer, making sure I was replacing all calendar data on .Mac with what was on the computer
4. importing the good calendar backup to one of my Macs
5. repeating step 3
6. repeating step 4
... and so on. Eventually, all my calendars on all my computers say the same thing and the old calendars are gone.
Now I have a problem with iSync, which has all the old calendars and duplicates of each new one.
I bought a copy of Leopard, did a completely fresh install on each computer (i.e. removing Tiger completely), but as soon as I added my phone into iSync, I got the same problem.
I suppose this must mean there's bad data on the .Mac copy of my calendar, but with no web interface to interact with, I can't put it right... or can I? Do any of you know how to sort this out?

Take a look through the following list of Apple Knowledge Base articles to see if any of these problems/fixes sound like your issue. There's a bunch of iCal syncing stuff in here, but some of it is at the other end (iCal syncing with phones):

This is a search for "kmosx5" (Apple's code for Leopard related stuf) and "ical".

  • Burned DVD works fine in a mac but audio out of sync in a DVD player!?

The titles kinda says it all. Nearly. I've made my most complicated (for me) DVD to date. It's a concert DVD shot in anamorphic. I've edited in FCP and exported with compressor with all the appropriate settings, to mpeg 2. I've built the DVD in DVDSP with an intro from motion, motion menus etc. It previews fine and looks outstanding (if I do say so myself!). I burned the finished folder with Toast 8 ( as a UDF) and the burned DVD plays under DVD player on all my macs faultlessly. When I put the DVD in a normal DVD player, the audio is SERIOUSLY out of sync (the dancing is out of time let alone the lip sync) and the picture is stretched wide, like it's trying for 2.35.1 when it's only 16.9 or something.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? All help appreciated.
    Gareth

I've edited in FCP and exported with compressor with all the appropriate settings, to mpeg 2.
Double check to make sure that you edited in Anamorphic and also encoded as 16:9 video not 4:3 - also make sure you set the Track to 16:9 Letterbox in DVD SP.
What encoding rates did you use for the video and audio? Sometimes if the rates are too high it can cause drifts.
On the audio side, did you export the FCP as self contained and make the audio AC3? Also you can try just exporting the audio as an AIF and encode that as an AC3.
How did you burn the DVD (Speed and Media used?) Sometimes bad burns/media can cause issues.

  • My mac mail is out of sync with my icloud

Since a few months I only receive mails from iCloud on my Mac mail if I am online.
Meaning that if mails are sent while I am offline, they do not pop up on the mac, when I get back online. :-(
I receive the mails on my iPhone, I can see them all on iCloud web app. But Mac-mail never gets them.
They just stay in the cloud.
Doing a sync to iCloud does not solve the issue.
I have tried to remove the iCloud account from my mac, reboot re-create the account, but the problems persists.
Any ideas what to do next?

Wouldn't it be awesome if APPLE would program something in to itunes that allowed up to 2 seconds of wireless LAG adjustment?  WOW!
ie: streaming your itunes library to airport express, out your amp AND your laptop, and having the sound in sync?!  wha....!!!  who would want to do that?  uhhhh everyone?
Its ok as long your are plugged into the LAN.. no delay, but any wireless at all in the equasion, and its in the millisecond delay range.. annoying..

  • 'All Notes' folder and 'From my Mac' folder now out of sync on iPhone 4 using iClouc

    Hi
    1.  From my Mac (Lion ox installed) I moved all Notes to 'iCloud' folder from the 'From my Mac' folder.  This worked perfectly.
    2.  It was then sync using iCloud to my iPhone 4.
    3.  Goto my iPhone 4, and check the 'iCloud' folder.  Yes, the folder was updated correctly as expected with all the Notes.
    4.  BUT, then from the iPhone, I navigate to the 'From my Mac' folder, this was still populated with Notes.  I expected it to be empty as I had originally moved all Notes to the 'iCloud' folder in step 1.  How do I get this updated properly so that it is blank on my iPhone like it is on my Mac.
    5.  Then from the iPhone, if I navigate to Notes and select the 'All Notes' folder, this is also wrong as the 'From my Mac' folder should be empty.  So if I'm in 'All Notes' then I see lots of duplicates.
I've done some investigation but not finding a solution.  I would be very grateful if someone could help me.
    Thank you.

I understand Apple is moving from iPhoto to Photo but until that date they need to support existing application.  Its been this way for close to a year now and so many updates have not addressed it.
It is evident, that the sequence of photos, events, albums, faces albums, etc on iOS devices is not considered to be an important feature on iOS devices by the Apple developers.

  • Why do files exported with H264 randomly slip out of sync.

I am currently in the middle of exporting 34 individual videos/sequences.
I am using the H264 codec. Some of them are in sync and some seem to have the audio lagging roughly a frame behind. The videos are of musical instrument demonstrations so there is no margin for error. It seems totally random as to whether they come out of Adobe Media Encoder in sync or out of sync. I have to export each one and then if it's incorrect I have to manually drag the audio a frame forward on the timeline and outout an 'out of sync' timeline in order to get an 'in sync' video! Needless to say, all of the audio is perfectly in sync on the timeline. Plenty of the them are fine and I'm not changing the settings, so it must be some kind of inconsistency with the encoding.
Why is this always such a problem with Adobe Premiere? Even in the past it's been really difficult to get acceptable quality videos out of the software package.
If anyone can offer a solution to this it would be greatly appreciated!

That is the realty of the situation.
Just like a cinematographer, who works so hard making the image look just the way he wants, has no guarantee that the end viewer will have a properly calibrated display and see the film the way it was intended to be seen.
All you can do is your job correctly, and offer suggestions to those whose systems don't work right.  Which in this case means using a decent media player.

  • Mac OS X partition ("Macintosh HD") gets out of sync after hibernation

    Hello,
I have a first-generation Unibody 15" MacBook Pro. I run Mac OS X Lion and Windows XP Profession 32-bit through Boot Camp on it.
I notice that the Mac OS X partition gets out of sync after I hibernate in Windows XP, reboot into Mac OS X Lion, restart and resume Windows XP. Certain folders would remain visible in Windows Explorer but become inaccessible, while some folders that I just created in Mac OS X would not even show up.
Is there a way to tell Windows XP to "remount" the HFS+ partition?
    Steps to reproduce:
    Boot into Windows XP;
    Hibernate Windows XP;
    Boot into Mac OS X;
    Pick a folder and change something in it;
    Create a new folder;
    Reboot and resume Windows XP;
    Open "Windows Explorer";
Try to access the folders you just meddled with.

Don't hibernate, shut XP down when you reboot and the issue goes away, you really should consider using a more modern operating system.

  • Audio goes out of sync when i open project on diff macs

i have an iMovie project created on an iMac saved to an external.
I go to open the project up on my macbook and the audio is out of sync.
I go back to my iMac with the same project and it works just fine.
I'm a bit confused because both macs use Mac OS X 10.6.4 and iMovie 8.0.6
what other differences might there be?
any input is appreciated as I'd love to work on projects while out in the field!

Try exporting the iMovie project as a single full quality dv format quicktime file.
I use iMovie6 HD and this is my usual procedure that works well.
Make the movie in iMovie, will involve many separate clips. When finished, export (share) as a single full quality dv format quick time file. When I have an hours worth of smaller projects, I create a new iMovie project and import all of the quicktime .dv files for each separate short project. I add chapter markers in this project, then share with iDVD. I then burn an hours worth of stuff at best quality and distribute to family and friends.
iDVD seems to work better with iMovie source that has fewer clips.
BTW: Are you having problems with standard def or hi def iMovie source. Another part of my procedure is that I take the raw tapes and download the entire thing into one iMovie project. I don't edit or change the footage at all, just want to archive to DVD for posterity. In this case, I want to share the iMovie project with iDVD directly. This has worked OK for standard def projects, but my first hi def project (1080i) that I tried, the sound was out of sync. To fix this, I had to create a regular DV widescreen iMovie project, and drag all the clips into it from the HD project. It took over an hour for my humble mac mini to convert the files, but I was then able to share with iDVD and the finished DVD worked ok.
    Hope this helps.

  • Isync/.mac sync and mail accounts

Mail checks 3 email accounts for me. And .Mac is set to sync my mail accounts and settings across two computers.
The thing is, every time I open Mail (on either computer), .mac will eventually sync, and I get the "this is going to change >5% of your mail accounts" warning. It says it is going to delete two accounts, modify zero, and add two. I always just click ok.
But it's getting to the point it's annoying. So today I clicked the "details" section- and it shows the accounts that are supposed to be added/deleted- and they are identical.
Everything else syncs fine, without error.
is there something funny about mail account syncing? Why does it do this every single bloody time .mac runs a sync?!
    Thanks!

You should ask in the .Mac Sync forum. iSync doesn't do any kind of Mail syncing - it's for syncing to phones and PDAs.

  • Premiere CC export causes audio to go out of sync...mac & PC...various codecs...including flat passes...disk cache cleaned...render files deleted...what is going on?

    Hey all-
This is troubling. I'm getting slight audio shift every time I export a project. We noticed it originally when our sound guy brought in the OMF & realized the timecode and audio ended up coming out off by 3/4th of a frame. So we tested it...
    Exports to .movs / .mp4s / .mpegs
Brought them back in to the project....
Sound gets off by a 1/4th of a frame to 3/4th of a frame.
Then we started tested different files. Doing flat passes where NOTHING changed, just a re-export under the settings of the source file...
sound gets off by a 1/4th of a frame.
    Tried media encoder.
    same thing.
cleaned the disk cache...deleted render files
    same thing.
tried it on a new mac pro. tried it on a dell running windows 7.
    same.
    thing.
So is there a solve for this or should we just stop editing in Premiere? On a few occasions now I've had clients say "it seems like it goes out of sync right there" and I've gone back to the timeline and checked to see it was fine. Now I wonder if much of the work I've put out since I made the switch last year has fallen victim to this.
Is there any kind of solve for this? Should I just stop using premiere to cut? Because this is a deal breaker, especially if I'm going to have to rebuild the project I'm working on in another NLE.

avanishdivya thank you, but this did not help. I did exactly what you told me in both cases.
I haven't overclocked my pc and both of the suggested media encoder methods failed, my pc crashed and turned off...
    Any other suggestions ?

  • MAC - Audio Out of Sync

    Using CS4 for MAC
    Editing on 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon, with 3 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 FB-DIMM (Memory)
Running Mac OS X Version 10.5.6
Capturing Video Via Firewire Using a Sony DV Deck (Model HVR-M15U)
Capturing in Premiere Using Scene Detect. After capturing video, I have noticed that 1. It captures as one video clip and then separates the video into separate clips. After putting clips onto the timeline I have noticed that everything has become out of sync. 2. When having used CS3 prior on Windows and having used scene detect, premiere separated the clips as it was capturing the video (no audio sync issues) 3. After getting everything in sync, and then using Dynamic Link to send it to Encore, the video once again gets out of sync.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is this a Mac Only Issue? If so, do I need to switch back to the PC version CS4? Any comments of suggestions are apreaiated

I had the problem with CS3 on the Mac, but not CS4. Audio sync seemed to get knocked out of sync by glitches at the beginning of the tape and Premiere didn't recognize there was a problem. My solution was to advance the tape to the 30-second point and capture from there, well away from defects common near the beginning of DV tape. If there was anything critical in that first 30-second portion I captured it separately.
Yes the Mac version handles scene detect differently. It creates subclips from one master clip.

  • TA25603 Audio and visual out of sync iMovie using built in mac webcam?

On the latest imovie - april 2013, I have made many videos and had no problems, but recently I've been using the macs inbuilt webcam and a couple of times when I re-watch the footage the audio is badly out of sync with the visual, how can I fix this?

Same issue I've seen. I have a Sony DCR-TRV30. Had 40 tapes to transfer to iMovie 10.0.6. Had no issue on first 16 tapes then all the sudden I experienced the audio/video timing issue. Video looks good when it is getting imported, audio/video in sync on camera and in preview window on iMovie while importing. Tape finishes and you start to watch import when beginning of tape is in sync and by end it is several seconds out of sync. Tried deleting and installing iMovie again and that didn't help.

  • Sound out of sync when burning a movie on The Mac.

I'm buring an AVI. movie just by right clicking and selecting burn the file to disc option and when I play the DVD on a seperate DVD player afte about 5 miniutes of film the sound is seconds out of sync from the actual movie, can anyone advise me?
    Thanks
    Jimmy

The best solution would be to use a DV capture utility and then import the resulting file(s) into final cut.
Aplle itself offers capture utilities, which can be found in the Developer Firewire SDK:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305924
You need a free Developer account and to download the SDK there. After installation you will find a new folder on your harddrive called "Developer"
There are several capture utilities in the program section of the SDK. You want to use the one called "VirtualDV". It´s very simple, but powerful though. It does capture without sync loss, compared to capturing via the Quicktime framework, like Final Cut and iMovie do. It simply grabs the raw DV stream coming from the Firewire interface.
After the capturing you have a Quicktime readable raw DV file, which easily can be imported to be worked with in any DV capable software.

  • Audio out of sync when playing HD content

    Hey
I've got an issue with the audio gets out of sync when playing some HD content. I've tried to make sure the video is stored on the Apple TV so it can't be the network connection.
I've also tried a full reset of the unit, but still no luck.
But it's all video clips that has this problem. Even though they encoded the same and so on, some videos audio get out of synced and some don't.
Also have a problem with m4v files locking the ATV (and iTunes for that matter), but renaming it to a mp4 file seems to solve it. But if someone has a fix for that as well I'd much appreciate it.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Jeaz
EDIT: I have tried to use component cables instead of HDMI, but the problem remains. Of course also tested the video on my Mac and no problems. A quick pause and resume usually solves it, but only for a minute or so.
    Message was edited by: MrJeaz

What sort of specification is the video content? Is spec too high for AppleTV.
It may be that it's some kind of bug in AppleTV's playback, that the Mac does not exhibit, or an issue with encoding that causes a problem only on AppleTV.
If you are encoding video and using same as source for the frame rate, it may be better in some cases trying explicitly to specify the frame rate required in case automatic frame rate conversion is introducing some kind of timing issue. Test a short clip to see.

  • MPEG4 video from imovie is sluggish and audio out of sync

    Hi y'all,
I am new to this. So I need some hand holding here. I am working with video that was exported in MPEG4 video from imovie on a mac.
The Camera I used is a Sony FX7 HD camera with SD tape.
So Now I am trying to edit the video using Premiere Pro CS3 creative suite.
Import into CS3 is fine. Playing the imported video in the source monitor is fine as well. All looks well.
However, here are the challenges I am having:
    1. When I try to play it in the Program monitor its very sluggish. Audio plays fine but picture lags behind.
    2. And once I edit the the video and try to export it as flash video or as a windows media, the video and audio are out of sync.
The video is choppy as well.
Details: source video is 720x480 and trying to export to 320x240
    My project details are:
    DV-NTSC standard 48khz
    Video is 10 min long

OK, not my choice of workflows, but... I assume that the MP4's are H.264 encoded. There are many of these. Three common ones are Lead, MainConcept and Apple. Some find that one works better than the others. These are not the ONLY versions, but are common. You might want to explore others, depending on which one you have installed. G-Spot can tell you which you have.
Next, you can Render your Timeline, to get things as smooth as possible.
Note that the MP4 files are heavily compressed already. Quality has been lost, and there is nothing that can be done about that. When you Export to, say DVD, you will recompress that material, and loose even more.
In the future, have your Mac-person do the Capture to .MOV [Animation CODEC]. Or, do it yourself to DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio.
Not sure of any other ways to get the MP4's playing more smoothly. Much will depend on both your CPU and on your system's I/O sub-system, i.e. your HDD's, their size, speed, controller type and how they are utilized.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
