ISync/Palm Zire 21 question

Please forgive me if this has been answered. I searched the board and don't see my question answered.
Palm Zire 21: for the first 3 days, everything was fine except everytime I did an iSync, I had to reset the Palm (change the date, fix the time, etc.). I do not use, and hope I don't need to use, the Palm Desktop software.
I have Hot Sync 3.2 (Enabled) and iSync 2.3 (Palm Sync Enabled).
In an attempt to fix this/start from scratch, I got the following message: "In order for iSync to work properly with your Palm OS device, the following HotSync conduits need to be disabled.
Address
Calendar
Contacts
Datebook
etc.
After hitting "OK", those conduits no longer show up in the HotSync>Conduit Settings window (they are all in the Disabled Conduits folder now)
Now iCal and To Do lists sync just fine, but no addresses show up in Palm AND I have to RESET every single time.
Can you please help me understand why this would be so? What is markspace.com and do I need to get the "missing sync" there?
Thank you Thank you Thank you in advance.
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Something clearly isn't right. Likely several things, actually.
The contents of your active Conduits folder show no conduit conflicts. A couple of thoughts, though…
You should move the Memo, Memos, Note Pad, Photos and Voice Memo temporarily to the Disabled Conduits folder to eliminate the possibility that any of these (maybe extraneous) Palm conduits are the root of the reset problem. The result will be that your Palm memos will no longer synchronize with the Palm Desktop, but that can be restored by moving the later Memos conduit back into the active folder. If the reset problem is no longer apparent when these conduits are not active, then one issue may be resolved.
Open the HotSync Manager application on your Macintosh and check to see that the following conditions are true:
• HotSync is set to Enabled in the HotSync Controls tab, and
• USB is checked in the Connection Settings tab
What does your HotSync log—as opposed to the iSync log—say about these events?
Have you configured the synchronization parameters for your device in iSync by pressing the device icon labeled with your HotSync name to drop down a pane in which you select various contact and calendaring options? Are both Contacts and Calendars enabled?
When you say, "… the only thing that's now uploading to my Palm is my To Do list" are you sure that in fact, it is to do and not memo information that is being transfered? I ask, because with the iSync Palm Conduit, to do or task data is synchronized by it with iCal, whereas there is no provision in iSync to synchronize memos. And, if iCal task data works, one has to wonder why event data does not synchronize…

  • Palm Zire 31 and iSync

I have the Hotsync Manager set up correctly and the information get transferred to the Palm. I receive no error messages. I have it sync all contacts and addresses.
The problem is that it does not include all of the information for the contacts. All of the contacts are listed in the palm, just not al of the information. An example would be displaying only a work address and not a home address. I have downloaded and installed 421 Revd of the Palm Software.
    Any suggestions?
    I am runnning 10.4.4, iSyc 2.1.1 on a G4 Quicksilver.

Actually—with iSync—that means it's working just fine. This issue is a long-standing shortcoming of the iSync Palm Conduit. Addresses labeled 'home' do not synchronize, and by default, address fields in Address Book records are labeled 'work' - not 'home.' Nice design, eh?
You can work around it by labeling the address you want synchronized 'work' and place any secondary address information in the free-form Note field, which is synchronized.
Or, you can purchase and download the Missing Sync for Palm OS from Mark/Space, which replaces the iSync Palm Conduit with three conduits: Mark/Space Contacts, Events and Tasks. There is no such limitation in the Mark/Space Contacts conduit, and it synchronizes multiple addresses, along with data that iSync does not: IM and URL data, for example.

  • Hot sync says Palm Zire has successfully synced but no data (using Windows 7 32 bit)

We have a Win XP desktop on which an older version of Palm Desktop has been working for years and been able to sync with my Palm Zire and my husband's Palm Z22.  Now that we have to decomission Win XP desktop have installed Palm Desktop by Access v6.2.2 and Hotsync v7.0.2 on Win 7 32bit laptop.
My husband has a Palm Z22 and has had no problems setting up user and syncing using Palm Desktop by Access when using Windows 7.  However, although the Palm Desktop has correctly indentified by device as a Zire and hotsync via cable says it completes successfully no data appears on the Desktop.  In reverse, when I add a new contact on Palm Desktop and sync it does not appear on the handheld.
Have tried downloading and installing driver from:
    http://aceeca.com/support/sales-support/downloads/product/drivers-32-bit-usb-windows-driver-for-palm...
However, when I followed the instructions provided with teh 64 bit download my laptop said I already had most up to date driver!
Please help as I rely on my Zire and need it to back up successfully.

Hello, and Welcome to the HP Support Community!
The Aceeca drivers are ONLY for 64-bit Operating Systems.  Since yours is 32-bit, it's not needed.
Try right-clicking on the shortcut for Palm Desktop, then choose "Run as Administrator".  See if the data appears.
Another suggestion would be to turn off "UAC" or User Access Control.   Control Panel/Users/Turn off UAC.

  • Is Palm Zire 21 Software compatible with Palm Pre Plus Cell Phone?

I have an older Palm Zire 21. I love all the features. However, now I am trying to consolidate my Windows (vista) Calendar with my Palm and it is not compatible. I thought I would purchase the newer Palm Pre plus Cell Phone in order to have all of my contacts and calendars on my phone as well as my laptop. Though no one can seem to answer my question: Can I import my contact and calendar from my Zire 21 to the Palm Pre Plus?
Many thanks to who can answer this for me. I greatly appreciate your time and assistant.

webOS (the new Operating System) from Palm does not natively sync to your computer, but to the "cloud" (online servers).
Palm offers a program that will read your Palm Desktop information, and transfer it to Google.  This is only a one-time transfer, and not a sync solution.  See this thread.

  • WOES: iSync, Palm Pilot, iCal, Missing Sync, Palm Desktop, Ericsson Phone

Here's my situation, I've been a long time Palm user, and fairly recently (within a year) a new Mac user. I've always used the Palm Desktop on my PC in the past. I've had a Palm Vx for years, and fairly recently (within a year) I bought a Palm Zire 72 and a Sony Ericsson S170a cell phone. I also have an iPod Photo.
I really would like to sync up my address book, calendars, memos, maybe even photos, with all my devices. I tried using iSync, but nothing seam to work right, so I tried a million things, now everything is messed up.
For right now, I'm just trying to get my Palm Pilot, the Mac, and the Phone to have all the same calendar events (w the correect times, alarms, colors, and groups).
I'm really frustrated with trying to get the mac's iCal, the palm pilot, the phone to all have the same calendar info. I really like iCal, and the mac address book, and how well it works with the mail app. As well as subscribing to shared iCals. Especially the holiday ones! I use to have to enter all that info by hand, and have them "other" repeater. The Palm Desktop software's calendar and address book is pretty clunky compared to the Mac apps, or even the Palm Desktop for the PC. But everything is messed up now. I even tried the "missing sync" software and it messed it up even worse.
Several of my cal events are now GONE from iCal, my Palm Pilot, and my Phone! Many of them have duplicates, some have wrong times. Some have right groups, some don't. The ones that do have right groups, don't have any colors applied to them. If I create certain calendars on the mac and sync with the palm, the groups do not come over. If I create them on the Palm, the groups don't come over on the mac. Getting the colors/groups to match, and all 3 items to sync all at once is a nightmare as well. There were a million conflicts, and chose the correct ones, but some of them would NOT let me pick the one I wanted, it would just keep on saying "conflict".
What would AT LEAST get me back to the original info on the Palm and the Mac would be to restore from my Palm Desktop software, but I can't get to that because it looks like the missing sync software has messed the conduit/hot sync manager up. I can no longer get to my Palm Desktop condiut settings. I'd re-install the palm software to get it back, but I will probably loose all the data stored in Palm Desktop. This is the ONLY place that has the correct info right now. I'm varry warry about loosing that information. I use to have the PC copy, and the Palm Copy, and it was all right. The Palm Desktop has an import/export feature, but it doesn't seam to carry all the info (like notes attatched to cal events).
Also, has anyone tried to RESTORE a Palm Pilot not using the Palm Desktop software? When I had to reset my Palm, I tried using iSync or even missing sync to get all my apps, settings, calendars, address books, everything, but it never put the info back on the Palm. This info was always restored with Palm Desktop.
And let's just say I DO get back all my calendar items back into the Palm, and the Palm Desktop software up and running correctly. What is the proper way to do what I was trying to do in the begining? Which was "just have my Palm Pilot, the Mac, and the Phone to have all the same calendar events (w the right times, alarms, colors, and groups)." I don't seam to have too many problems with contacts. Except work/home fields seam to swap all the time.
    What I'm running:
    G4 PowerMac w/ Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.3)
Palm Pilot Zire 72s (Palm Software v5.2.8)
    Missing Sync (v5.0.3)
    Palm Desktop Mac (v4.2.1)
    Sony Ericsson S170a Cell Phone
    iPod Photo 60GB
G4 PowerMac   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   Palm Pilot Zire 72s (Palm Software v5.2.8), Missing Sync (v5.0.3), Palm Desktop Mac (v4.2.1), Sony

Where to start? Maybe with some background about the synchronization process.
What Apple hasn't explained outside of the developer community is that you are not actually synchronizing applications [like iCal or the Address Book] or servers [like .Mac] or devices [like your mobile handset or a Palm organizer] when you initiate a synchronization. What you are really doing is triggering an interaction with one or more of these and the SyncServices engine, which maintains what is termed the 'truth database'—or simply, the 'truth'—to which is pushed, or from which is pulled, the current state of data maintained in fields and records for one or more specific data types. Because of the way this process works, it is not necessary to have all synchronized devices available or attached when a synchronization event occurs.
You can synchronize your SONY Ericsson S710a, a process which exchanges the most current data maintained in the truth with it, and hours later, plug in your iPod, an action which will trigger iTunes to pull the latest data from the truth and write it to the iPod, updating your contact and calendaring records. The same is true for other applications, servers and devices.
While it all seems clumsy and confusing, it is actually a huge step forward in making synchronization nearly automatic, almost transparent, and virtually mistake proof. It's clear that there is some distance to go before those objectives are achieved, but SyncServices is actually a huge improvement over the prior synchronization technology in iSync 1.5 and earlier.
That said, there are bugs in SyncServices, and in the applications written by several developers to take advantage of it, along with issues in at least iCal, and probably the Address Book, that complicate what you are trying to achieve. It's possible to do, and once working, should work nearly flawlessly. But, it takes some planning to get there.
First, a word about backing up your data. It's a good idea to periodically back up contact and calendaring records using the facilities built into iCal and the Address Book which appear in the File menu of each application. These options make easily restorable local snapshots of your data. Should something go terribly wrong with a synchronization event, you can immediately restore your iCal or Address Book data from these files. In addition, it's a good idea to have a more comprehensive backup plan in place, using Backup and .Mac, Backup and rewritable media, and so on.
To synchronize photos, music and other media files, you'll need to use the Missing Sync for Palm OS. iSync just does not support anything beyond contact, calendaring and task data. To begin the process, you should simplify your device pool, initially concentrating only on getting a complete, accurate set of contact, event and task records pushed to the truth from the Address Book and iCal, and onto your Palm.
You will have to take an inventory of where the best records reside, and insure that you get them into iCal and the Address Book before attempting to synchronize your Palm, because to do it properly, initially, you will have to overwrite the data on your Palm, replacing it with records from iCal and the Address Book. If you're going to edit them by making additions, changes and deletions, perform all of those in iCal and the Address Book until you have synchronized your Palm device or devices with them. Backup before performing the initial synchronization, and be sure to overwrite each Palm device the first time.
If you want a historic snapshot of the data on either Palm device before doing this, first follow the instructions provided by Mark/Space to use the standard Palm conduits instead of Mark/Space Contacts, Events and Tasks, and be sure to set each Palm conduit to Palm overwrites handheld in order to transfer the data from your Palm Vx and Zire 72 to the Palm Desktop. Once there, those records can be exported as vCard and vCal files, and easily imported into the Address Book and iCal if you wish to do that. Edit them as you see fit, once they have been transfered. If you elect to do that, you must thereafter turn off these Palm conduits and reconfigure the Missing Sync to use the Mark/Space conduits, again choosing to have your computer replace the contents on each Palm device on the first synchronization.
Once you've achieved a 'balance' with the records in iCal, the Address Book and your handheld organizers, you can reset the records on your mobile handset. iSync alone performs this function, and later synchronization events with your SONY Ericsson S710a will always be manually triggered, and performed using iSync, not the Missing Sync. Reset once, and subsequently synchronize.
Anything else you want to add to the mix—.Mac Sync, for example—you can then add, initially performing a reset of your .Mac data, then subsequently synchronizing.
Synchronization of your iPod is handled by iTunes and only pulls data from the truth, so it need not be reset, as it cannot write changes to the truth which would adversely affect your other devices.

  • Palm Zire 21 hot sync

Installed Palm desktop 6.2 on Windows 7 64 bit machine. Downloaded USB drivers that installed correctly per the forum. Syncing on Palm Zire 21 log says it successfully completed but the Palm desktop software has no addresses, calendar, memos or to do list. Any ideas?

The Zire may be too old for 6.2.2, but there is a patch that can work.
Go here:  http://www.PimlicoSoftware.com/legacy.html  and download "PalmHotsyncSetup"
When you clicked on the user in Palm Desktop, was there another listed?

  • Calendar Sync, Palm Zire 31 and Mac OS 10.4.6

We just purchased several Palm Zire 31 handhelds because that model is one on Oracle's list as "certified" to work with Calendar Sync. However, I cannot seem to get it to sync properly to Oracle Calendar. Prior to installing Calendar Sync it synced to my Palm Desktop data just fine. Please point me in the right direction.
Here are all the versions and hardware:
Powerbook G4 running Mac OS 10.4.6
Palm Zire 31 running Palm OS 5.2.8
    Palm Desktop software 4.2.1
Oracle Calendar Sync 9.0.4.2.10 (installed on Zire 31)
    Palm HotSync Manager 3.2
    Oracle Calendar (desktop software) 10.1.1.0.2.694

I don't sync a Zire 31, but I do sync a variety of Treos and Tungsten units with 10.4.x. I sync my Events and Tasks with Oracle and my Addresses with the Apple conduit.
Here are the directions I have come up with:
First, make sure you are using the latest Oracle Palm Sync (sounds like you are)
Second, make sure you have the latest iSync Palm conduit (version 3.0.2 under OS 10.4)
open the iSync application, go to the Devices menu, and choose Enable Palm Sync for this device
Click on the device name. Make sure Contacts is checked, but NOT Calendars
    Quit iSync
Open Palm Desktop -> HotSync -> Conduit Settings
choose iSync Conduit and click Conduit Settings. Check the box to enable Palm Sync for device
Open MacintoshHD -> Library -> Application Support -> Palm Hotsync
    move Apple into Conduits folder
move Oracle Calendar Address Conduit into Disabled Conduits folder
HotSync, and you should be good to go.

  • ICal events being deleted when syncing with Palm Zire 21

I have been syncing my Palm Zire 21 with iCal successfully for over a year with few problems. A few weeks ago I noticed that almost, but not all of the events on both the Palm device and iCal more than three months old were gone. Then, a few weeks later, I noticed that the events suddenly were all back in the iCal application, but not on the Palm device.
But this week, I used HotSync (as usual) to sync iCal and the Palm device, and the events were gone again. Now I am wondering what on Earth I am doing to cause this. I have read the articles about setting up to sync. I double-checked to be sure I have been syncing the way that is outlined in the instructions in the help articles.
I must have missed something vital. I have been backing up my iCal to my .Mac account using Backup. I am thinking that I can restore the iCal events using my last backup. Can I? And how do I keep this from happening again?
    MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   "OS10.4.10" "iSync 2.4" "iCal 2.0.5" "Hotsync 3.1"

Found the issue for me. The events are not deleted, but filtered in the standard calendar view. The iPhone shows everything as it should. Outlook 2003 has all the events to as seen when going to categories view.
It seems that once events pass on the iPhone and then a sync via iTunes to Outlook 2003 the "All Day Event" field is removed from the calendar entry.
Creating another Day/Week/Month View in outlook 2003 that has a filter to only include calendar entries where the "All Day Event" field "does not exist" will allow viewing the "hidden" past events.
Hopefully this will be fixed VERY SOON.

  • Palm Zire 31 installation on iMac - can't perform initial sync

I am in serious need of someone who has Mac & Palm OS knowledge. I bought a second Palm Zire 31 to replace the my recently deceased Zire 31. I followed instructions, but since I already had Palm installed on my iMac from an earlier Palm M150 and subsequent Zire 31, I am unable to create the first sync between Z31 & my Mac.
I do not want to lose 3+ years of contacts and calendar data which resides on my Mac via previous synchs with my old Palm units.
Should I rename my old Palm installations and try to reload the Palm software CD? If so, how do I do that?
I know more info is needed to help my situation, but ask me and I'll try to answer. - Thanks

You should back up the Address Book and iCal data which is stored on your Macintosh platform, if you are using them—and, using iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit—to exchange data with your Palm device.
Then, simply add your new device to iSync using the Enable Palm OS Syncing… option, and choose to overwrite the contents of your handheld during the initial event.
If you are instead using the Palm Desktop to synchronize your device, you should be aware that Palm does not provide substantial support for OS X users, though you can browse their technical information library for solutions. Palm has historically been clear the they did not intend to support Mac OS X going forward after the release of OS X 10.4 was anticipated, and have issued only maintenance releases, leaving this responsibility instead to Mark/Space, developers of the Missing Sync for Palm OS.

  • Palm Zire 31 and Panther

I Just got a cable for my Motorola V 400. And it works great with iSync. Now I found out that my Palm Zire 31 would Sync with my iCal and Address book and I want it to work. I downloaded the Palm Conduit program and it installed fine. I looked in the help and everything but it won't sync. I rebooted my computer and everything and now when I Hot Sync it says it synced but I looked on iCal and Address book and there is no information vise versa on the palm. Another thing is there is no icon on iSync for the Palm.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The issue here is that you've installed the Palm Desktop and your handheld is synchronizing with it, but not with the Address Book and iCal.
If you want to synchronize with the Address Book and iCal, you must install iSync 1.5 and the iSync Palm Conduit 1.2. Those actions will deactivate the standard Palm conduits, which otherwise would conflict with the iSync Palm Conduit, and activate the iSync Palm Conduit.
You can download the iSync Palm Conduit from here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/isyncpalmconduit.html
Is is only intended for use with iSync 1.5 and Mac OS X 10.3.9 and earlier.
