ISync synced iCal calendars to phone but erased from computer.  Help!

I performed a sync today to my Motorola E815 cell phone. All of the contacts synced fine but the calendars didn't. All of the calendars from iCal were copied over fine, but the no longer appear in iCal.
Will syncing again copy the calendars back from the phone to the computer or will they erase off of the phone and no copy over. I am scared of losing them altogether. I could reenter them manually but that would take forever. Is there anyway to get my calendars back?
I had performed a backup of iCal a few weeks ago but don't know how to revert to that, plus I have made several changes since then.
What can I do?

If you created the backup using the the option labeled Back up Database… under the File menu in iCal, then restoring that data is as easy as choosing the option labeled Revert to Database Backup… directly beneath it. If you used another means, restoration might be a little more complex. It depends entirely upon what you originally chose to to, as a restoration is effectively a reversal of this process.
In any event, to restore the information on your mobile handset to iCal, you should reset the synchronization framework by…
• launching iSync
• opening the Preferences… dialog
• pressing the Reset Sync History… button and following the instructions which appear
You can achieve the same effect by removing your device from iSync and then adding it back. The key is to select the option to Merge the data in iCal with your mobile handset, rather than to Replace the data on your mobile handset with the data stored in iCal, which is presently empty.
If you do first successfully restore iCal and elect to merge your data, it will recognize equivalent records and merge them, and will add the records which differ on either device to the other.
The key to a successful outcome is to proceed slowly and deliberately, follow any instructions which occur, and ponder the likely outcome as you move forward. Generally speaking, you can stop at any point and back out of the process without affecting your data, though once you have reset or removed and then added back your device, the framework will eventually have to accommodate this change, and will perform a full, slow synchronization the next time you try to synchronize. Again, at that point if you cancelled earlier, you will have to elect to merge rather than replace data.

  • ICal entries to phone but no phone entries to iCal?

    Hi!
Is it possible to copy all the iCal entries to my phone but nothing from the phone to iCal using iSync?
I only edit the entries from my powebook, and use the phone calendar as a reminder. So if for example i erase an entry from iCal, or change it somehow, I don't want the old version to be copied back in from my phone when I use iSync.

(i know this is old, but I was digging thru some isync/ical problems)
What you could do is to sync the events you create on your phone into its own calendar. So create a calendar called "Phone" (or whatever). Then load up iSync. Under the Calendars section there is an option to "Put events created on phone into:" and you can select "Phone" calendar from there.
*But*, you will need to sync the "Phone" calendar every time too (otherwise you can't select it with that option above). Still, for everyday use in iCal, you can just uncheck the "Phone" calendar and you won't see those events.

Can I sync iCal calendars from two iMac's together?

No you cannot sync an iPhoto library between two macs. If you do you will corrupt the iPhoto Library file. iPhoto is a consumer level app, and this feature is not supported.
What you can do is share the photos but not the library. Each machine will need to have it's own library file.
The easiest way to do it this is to enable sharing (in the iPhoto Preferences) on both machines (one sharing the library, the other looking for the share). When you do this the shared library will appear in the Source (or left-hand) pane and pics can be dragged from that to the library in the other machine.

  • How do I delete an app from my phone but not the computer? Is there a way to deactivate it so it doesn't add it back when it syncs?

How do I delete and app from my phone but not from the computer? Is there a way to do this so it doesn't add it back in when it syncs?

In iTunes under the Apps tab for the iPhone device just uncheck any app you don't want synced to the phone. When you next sync the app will be removed from the phone but remain in the iTunes library.

  • I want to be able to erase the pictures out of my phone but not from the cloud

I want to be able to erase the pictures out of my phone but not from the cloud and I still want them to go into the cloud. How can I do that?
    Thanks!

Are the pictures transferred to another device? Note the following quotation from http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4486
The photos you upload to My Photo Stream are stored in iCloud for 30 days to give your devices plenty of time to connect and download them.
If you are wanting a cloud storage option for photos you may want to investigate something like Flickr.

    Can someone set me straight?

Check system preferences to make sure you have iCal and your photostream checkmarked to TRUE.
If you still have problems, give us more details.
Also, make sure the calendar in iCal you're using/looking at is not "On My Mac", but actually an iCloud one.

I'd suggest taking a look thorugh the following article, as it provides steps that can help get iTunes to see your iPhone.

  • I just downloaded OS 5 for my iPhone 3GS and now my events will sync from my iCal 4.0.4 to my phone but not from my phone calender to my iCal.

Ok, so I downloaded OS 5 to my iPhone 3GS about a week ago and I was trying to figure out iCloud, but then I realized my computer, an older MacBook, is only running 10.6.8 so it can't work with iCloud. So I've deactivated most of the syncing options for iCloud on my phone, but now when I sync my phone with my computer the events from my iCal, 4.0.4, sync to my phone, but the events on my phone will not show up in my iCal.

I've had the same basic problem ever since I purchased the iPhone 4 and enabled iCloud.  If I create an event on the phone the event does not show up in iCal, but if I create an event in iCal it shows up on the phone.  I have looked at several other threads and it seems I have all the calendar options correctly selected in the settings under calendar and iCloud. What's just as strange is that if I delete the event on my phone that I created in iCal it remains in iCal. I don't use mobileme so I know that isn't part of the problem.  Should I turn off calendars in the iCloud settings menu on the phone?  Is there another sync menu I dont know about on the phone or within iCal?

  • HT1296 My Iphone 5, IOS 7.0.4 won't sync calendars to my Macbook Pro IOS 10.9.1. I can sync calendars from the MB to the phone but not from the phone to the Mac. There is no tab for the calendar in Itunes now so I don't know how else to do this.

I have a Macbook Pro running Mavericks 10.9.1 and an Iphone 5S on IOS 7.0.4 and I can't sync my calendar from the phone to the Macbook.
It works the other way, Macbook to Iphone.
There used to be a tab under Itunes that allowed you to select to sync things like calendar, notes etc. but this is no longer there, can anyone help?

This was removed in 10.9.  You may have better luck getting assistance in the relevant Mac forum.

  • Letting two users share one synced iCal Calendar

    Hi all,
I'm looking for a way to share a single iCal calendar between two users, giving both users the ability to make changes to the calendar. Is this possible with Apple's iCal?
As an example, say I'd like to create a calendar for a trip itnerary. I'm in New York and my host ("Sara") is in San Francisco. I open my iCal, select the "Itinerary" calendar and enter a few events into it. Then, Sara opens her iCal and it automatically loads the "Itinerary" calendar, showing the events I've entered. Knowing San Francisco better than I do, she decides to alter my "Explore Chinatown" entry by extending the hours. The next time I open my iCal, I see the changes Sara made in the "Itinerary" calendar.
I'm sure this has probably been asked before, but even though I searched for it I couldn't find information answering this question. If you can point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance!

      Mac OS X (10.4.3)   iCal Version 2.0.3

If I understand .Mac's services correctly, it
features the ability to let users subscribe to a
calendar, that is read another person's published
calendar, but NOT to make changes on that calendar
and then send these changes back to the publisher,
transparently. Unless I'm mistaken in this regard,
.Mac does not provide a means to let two users share
a single iCal calendar which they can BOTH make
changes to and BOTH keep synced with the other user's
    calendar.
    yes it does!!!!!!!!
simply log into the single .mac account from any number of computers and use isync. We do this every day between our office & home computers. The calenders in ical are idendical on both. Any alteration can be synced to .mac and the other computer will pick up the change next time it is synced. If there is a conflict, isync will ask which version (either .mac or the computer being synced) to use.
I think that you are confusing publishing calenders and syncing them
However, even if that can be done with .Mac (and if
it can, I'd love to learn how), I require a solution
that doesn't utilitze .Mac because in my particular
situation, the other user with whom I want to share
calendars does not have a .Mac subscription and will
not be able to get one.
The other user does not need a .mac account. The whole point is that they are syncing to the one (ie your) account.
    Therefore, I need a solution
that does not rely on .Mac.
Wrong. It would seem that .mac would work.
The only problem is that all the calenders in ical will sync.

  • Syncing iCal calendar todos with Mobile Me todos

    Hi
    I am using 10.5.8.
Omnifocus will only sync my todos with the iCal calendar on my Mac.
I use and sync events with Mobile Me.
Is there anyway I can sync the iCal Calendar todos on my local mac with one of my MobleMe calendars?
    Thanks
    Gus

This will be no consolation. But I'm having the same problem. For me the issue began when I signed up for the MobileMe iCal beta (at least I think that's the culprit).
I was no longer able to sync iCal to the MobileMe server after the update (and I kept getting an error message in iCal). I downgraded back to the "regular" MobileMe iCal and got the iCal on my iMac up and running again.
However, now I don't seem to be able to sync my iPhone with Mobile me. I've turned it off from settings and turned it back on, but it's not working.

  • ICal calendar list empty but events still visible

So here's the problem. I open iCal last night, and my calendar list is empty. Also, when I open iCal there are no events visible until I change views (say from week to month or month to day). The same is true of my tasks. Even after changing views, though, my calendar list is still empty. The only change I've made in the last day or two is to have iCal sync my calendars with .Mac.
    I'm running 10.4.3 on a 17 inch Powerbook G4 1GHz with 1GB RAM. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

    ellisjs,
I'm having the same problems that you describe. There is another thread in the forums that discuss the same issues. One user, Norm, Gilbert, offers a solution that has worked for him.
"If I remember the steps, they involved removing the following items in the user library:
    ~\library\preferences\com.apple.iCal.AlarmScheduler.plist
    ~\library\preferences\com.apple.iCal.helper.plist
    ~\library\preferences\com.apple.iCal.plist
and then deleting the .plist files from here:
    ~\library\application suport\iCal
and then moving the Sources folder from here to the Desktop:
    ~\library\application suport\iCal
Then a restarted my Mac and lunched iCal. Everything worked as expected and has continued to work properly even after adding events, re-starting and doing a sync with Mark Space Missing Sync.
Knock on wood, it keeps working."
After following his steps it works until I launch iCal again. It varies from now showing my calendars to not showing my To Do's. I have not seen any fixes that work yet, but will continue to monitor this thread for any solutions. It appears to be a 10.4.3 issue from I have seen so far.

  • Syncing iCal calendars without .Mac

My wife has two computers, desktop and laptop. She would like to be able to sync her calendars, one from each machine. Is this possible without .Mac membership. If so, could someone please tell me how it's done?
I do have a .Mac membership. Is it legal for her to publish her calendars to my .Mac and then subscribe to them so they'd show up on her two machines.
Any help at all with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

Intel iMac Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Martin,
Try iSynCal: iSynCal is built to synchronize events and todo from iCal calendars between two or more Mac computers using the standard Apple File Sharing shipped with Mac OSX. Using iSynCal, you no longer need a .Mac account neither to publish your calendars on an external FTP or WebDav server.
You can even use iSynCal to sync your iCal calendars with your iPod or between multiple users on the same Mac.Regarding your second question, legality is not the issue, since the .Mac account belongs to your username, only you can publish calendars to that account.
    ;~)
